Chapter 7- Sophie
As the sight in front of her glittered into view Sophie slowly started to think they light leaped to the wrong place. In front of her was probably one of the biggest skyscrapers she'd ever seen.
"This is your home?" Sophie asked "A skyscraper?"
"Yup," Keefe answered as if it was normal "Candleshade has about 200 floors and a LOT of rooms."
"Are all Elvin houses like this?"
"Well, not all but most are big houses. See when elves are born they are born with a birth fund. That birth fund consists of a million lusters."
"And how much does a luster worth?" Sophie asked.
"In human dollars, I think it's a million," Keefe said. Sophie's jaw dropped, "Come on the council is waiting for us."
Keefe and Sophie walked into Candleshade. She was still in awe about what Keefe just told her but she had to clear that out of her head. Right now, she needs to make a good impression on the councilors.
Sophie walked into the grand doors to be greeted with three councilors and a disturbing looking man. One of the councilors has rosy cheeks and golden locks of hair. The councilor next to her who was sitting rather close to the other councilor had electric blue eyes and ruffled red hair. The last counselor looked like he wasn't a very cheery guy. He glared at everyone in the room.
"Hello Sophie nice to meet you," said one of the councilors, "My name is Kenric, this is Oralie, and this grumpy guy is Bronte."
Sophie saw Keefe bow next to her so Sophie assumed she should curtsy. They sat down and started eating the food in front of them. Sophie fell in love with the food there. One was a green glob but tasted like a burger. Another was a pink liquid that tasted like chocolate.
"I see you like the food," Kenric said, "Very different from the toxic human foods."
Sophie was too busy eating to reply. Once they were finished a little creature came to take her food. She instantly jumped in her seat. Everyone at the table was laughing at her while she looked around confused
Finally when everyone calmed down Keefe told her, "Those are gnomes they probably look different than the "human" version. They have allied with the elves to farm for foods while we bring them protection."
"Oh," Sophie said embarrassed. She gave her plate to the gnomes and apologized to them. the gnome forgave her since she had never seen them before.
After the table was clean, the counselors started asking Keefe and Cassius questions about Sophie. Once they were caught up they wanted to see what Sophie could do.
"Sophie, do you think you can go into my mind and tell me what I'm thinking?" Kenric asked.
She nodded. She placed her fingers on his temple and navigated into his mind. Right, when she entered she saw one thing at the front of his mind. Sophie memorized the line and left his mind. When she opened her eyes she repeated the quote from his mind.
"I have a good feeling about her," She said. All eyes darted towards Kenric as he smiled.
"Amazing," He grinned.
Bronte started laughing, at least that's what Sophie assumed, "Child's play, a newborn can do that. Tell me what I'm thinking right now then I'll give you my vote."
Everyone but Sophie gasped.
Sophie was bewildered but she didn't want to keep Bronte waiting so she dived into his mind. It took her longer than she anticipated to find what she was looking for, but she left his mind and opened her eyes. Everyone in the room was looking at her worried (except for Bronte) and that was when she noticed she was sweating.
"I'm better than everyone here," Sophie repeated from his mind. Bronte gasped which made everyone gasp as well, "What?"
Oralie finally spoke up, "It's just that no one's ever been able to go into an ancient's mind especially Bronte's."
"I think we have enough information to vote," Kenric smiled at her, "I believe Sophie should go to Foxfire."
"As do I," Bronte said, angered.
All eyes went towards Oralie, "Sophie can you give me your palm."
Sophie looked around and then skeptically gave her her hand. Oralie closed her eyes while holding her hand. After a couple of minutes, she let go and looked straight at Sophie, "You have my vote."
Sorry, it took me three years to update but I today felt like a good day to update. It reminded me of how much I loved writing. I think I'm not going to make a schedule for myself because I feel like it was the reason why I didn't update for a while. Also my longest chapter 806 words. Hope you enjoyed it!
