Once Sophie arrived she was tackled with hugs from her mom and dad.

"Where have you been we were worried sick about you," her dad said with a stern voice

"I was just uh- I was lost," Sophie stuttered, "There was a man who came up to me and tried to grab me. I had to run away from him and ended up getting lost." She wasn't completely lying but she wasn't completely telling the truth.

"Pfft like that actually happened," Her sister, Amy said from behind her parents.

"Oh Sophie I'm so sorry. When I got the phone call from Mr.Sweeney I was about to call the police." Her mom said wrapping her into a hug soon after her father joined in too. Sophie smirked at Amy while Amy just rolled her eyes.

"We'll let you off easy Soybean but next time you need to be careful," her dad said.

"Ok," she said scowling at the name. Sophie went upstairs to her room and started think about what had happened that day.

"What am I going to do," sophie thought, "Does this mean my parents aren't my real parents? It makes sense since there brunettes with green eyes and I'm blond with brown eyes. But how did I turn out to be in their family? Who are my real parents anyways?"

"Sophie can you come set up the table," Her mom yelled.

"Coming," Sophie ran down the stairs and helped set up the table. She wasn't in the mood to eat even though it was her favorite, Fettuccine.

Her dad sat down and took the first bite signaling everyone else to eat as well. Once she took her first bite she felt very nauseous.

"Can I be excused?" She asked her mom.

" You barely touched your food and you love fettuccine," she reached over to touch her forehead checking her temperature, " Take a few more bites then you can go."

She took a few more bites. Her dad then put down his fork signaling for dinner to be over. Sophie quickly went upstairs and opened the door for Marty, her cat, to go in the room. He curled up against her pillow as Sophie laid on her bed. She let out all the tears she had been holding in that day with Marty comforting her.

Sophie didn't know how long had passed until she heard a knock from the door

"Can I come in," her mom said, "I brought E.L Fudges."

Sophie wiped away her tears and opened the door for her mom. She was standing there with some milk and the cookies. She took them from her mom and placed them on her desk.

"Do you want to talk about what happened today?" Her mom asked tucking Sophie's hair behind her ear.

"I really don't want to talk about it," She said. Her mom pulled her into a hug and kissed her forehead, "I love you mom."

"I love you too Sophie," she sunk into the hug enjoying her mother's embrace.

When she left the room Sophie changed into her pajamas and climbed into her bed with Marty on her pillow. Her parents then opened the door and tucked her in.

"Goodnight soybean," her dad said.

"Goodnight mom and dad," with that they left the room and Sophie started to doze off to sleep letting all the worries from that day drift away.
