All- Grief
ย I love a sad chapter that no one asked for. So guess who is back with one? ME. Not that it is that sad since I love to yap in my chaptersย
Here is my little sob story no one cares about, about how this chapter came along. My dog passed this week and I've observed everyone's ways of coping with grief then remembered I have a one-shot book that needs updating and this is a great idea.ย
ANYWAYS. Enjoy!ย
TW: Death, Panic attacks, blood, crying.ย
--ย
Nothing lasts forever and nothing stays the same.ย
A motto no one wants to believe but everyone knows it's true. An apple can't stay ripe forever. A plant can only live so long. A smile fads as soon as no one sees it.ย
Pets don't last forever and no one can come to terms with how heartbreaking it is, to wake up the next morning knowing that bundle of joy isn't there.ย
Nick was the one who knew it was coming but didn't want to think about it. He was down to earth with these types of things.ย
Matt refused to believe it. Refused to believe anything could just disappear like that.ย
Chris chose to pretend that everything stayed the same.ย
Like the world didn't turn upside down since the only thing keeping it stable, Trevor, left it.
--
"Matt, wake up" Chris tried to shake one of his older brothers awake, but Matt wouldn't budge.
Chris slept in Matt's bed that night, scared of being alone and scared of Matt being alone. He knew his brother tossed and turned a lot at night but stayed pined to the area of bed he collapsed in seven hours ago.
"Matty, come on" Chris urged, desperate to see his brother's eyes.
No movement from Matt. Chris sort of had expected it but refused to let it slide. He had been expecting but refusing a lot of things in the past twenty-four hours.ย
Chris groaned and laid back in his original spot, waiting for Matt to come back from his deep sleep. He felt like Edward Cullen but this was his brother he was talking about, not a girl who moved to a town named after cutlery.ย
Jokes aside.ย
The house was silent. That was the first thing that came to mind when Chris re-focused on his senses. The house was never silent. There was always a washing machine going off music playing or even white noise coming from the TV.ย
But there was nothing. No wind outside, and no soft snores from Matt. Silence.ย
Silence you could hear.ย
A silence that thoughts only had the right to fill. So they did that. Chris's thoughts ran loose. Anger, despair, guilt, regret, happy thoughts, thoughts that he would take to the grave, thoughts that were sad enough to be a song.ย
He didn't even feel Matt move around in theย bed since he had finally woke up.
"Chris?" Matt whispered, rolling over to see Chris staring at the roof, deep in thought. He tried to snap his baby brother out of thought like a rubber band, but Chris looked so focused on the roof, Matt was sure there was a spider on it
The brothers were playing the flinching game since Chris didn't dare flinch this time. "Is there a spider on the roof or something? Why do you look..." Matt was going to say dead but the word felt draughting. Like it was going to hurt him again.
The word had already shot him but saying it felt like a bullet to the heart.
Matt waved his hand in front of Chris, snapping him out of his trance.
"Oh, Matt, you're awake," Chris said, surprised to see his brother conscious.
Matt nodded and sighed. He could hear Nick walking down the stairs, each stair creaking with the impact of a human using them.
You know, their intended purpose.
"I think Nick's up" Chris announced, stating the obvious. He wanted to keep it normal.
Like Nick had heard his name like a bird calling, he swung open the door. Normally he would have said "Good morning bitches" or something, but nothing came to him.
He entered in silence like it was a cult meeting he was attending.
"You'll ok?" He asked instead.
They both nodded in unison, lies written on the walls.
"Uh, Matt. I have Trev's collar if you want it" Nick didn't want to tiptoe around it. He just said it as it was. How were they meant to move on if they didn't face it?
Matt's eyes darted down, tears welling up, ready to fall like the rain in winter.
Chris noticed this, and a pang in his chest hit him hard, not soft. All of a sudden the room felt small, and he needed to escape it like it was his life mission. "Nup I can't do this shit"
Chris pulled off the blankets and walked out of the room with a mission. A mission to get the fuck out of that room.
Nick didn't care though. His gaze met Matt's. Matt looked like a trillion little shattered pieces glued together with the worst quality glue they could find.
"You want the col-"
"Shut the fuck up Nick" Matt shot back, closing down Nick's question sharply.
Nick zipped his lips.
Matt took a deep breath, a tear trickling down his cheek, not losing shape until it fell off his face, breaking from impact.
"Can I talk now?" Nick questioned, seeing the tear, it was as clear as daylight.
Matt nodded, his head barely moving. "I want the collar, Nicky," he said before Nick could say whatever he had to say.
Nick knew it. "I'll go get it for you"
Matt didn't give him anything but Nick being the awesome man he is, knew Matt heard him. He also left the room.
--
Nick walked out of Matt's room and saw Chris looking at the floor.
"Is there a spider on the floor or something?" Nick asked. Poor Chris and Spiders were having a few run-ins.
Chris shook his head, he would have been clinging to the ceiling if there was a spider. "He lived here for three days and there is more dog hair on the floor than there is on my head" Chris exclaimed, seeing the dog hair everywhere.
Trevor would be leaving traces of himself for the next couple of months at this rate. R.i.p the washing machine. All black clothing worn in the last three days had changed to the same colour as Trevor's hair.
"Well, get a broom and sweep it up idiot," Nick told Chris. He was stating the obvious Chris just didn't know the obvious.
"I don't think we own a broom" Chris stated.
"Shit" Nick mumbled under his breath. He added that to the shopping list, he would give to Matt at the end of the week. Water and a broom.
"Is Matt ok? He was sleeping so deep last night. He didn't move once" Chris asked Nick, worrying about his brother. Matt had an emotional attachment to the dog, they all did but a bit of Matt's soul left last night.
"I'm going to give him Trevor's collar. He deserves it more than any of us." Nick explained to Chris.
Chris nodded and Nick went and grabbed Trevor's collar from his room. It was originally lying on the kitchen table but Nick took it upstairs after his brothers went to bed.
He wanted one night with the thing that smelt like his dog.

Trever died the night before.
He shouldn't have. But again, nothing lasts forever and nothing stays the same. They saw Trevor fading. No one believed it though. How could they?
Mary-Lou and Jimmy had gone on a trip to London for two weeks and dropped off Trevor in L. A (causally) So the triplets could look after him.
However, he was old, and with oldness becomes the end. Trevor was sick, vomiting up anything he ate, dragging himself around, his legs looking like they couldn't support his weight.
Matt just wanted to piss. He was about to enter his pissing era but no. Trevor was in his vomiting blood era in the bathroom. Of course, it was Matt's since Chris and Nick's bathroom involved a staircase.
He didn't want to topple down Chris's or track up Nick's like it was Mount Everest.
When Matt saw him, he immediately waited for him to stop vomiting, knowing he needed to get Trevor to the vet.
He was panicking, his breaths coming out in short sharp bursts, his lungs on fire. But he couldn't remove his eyes from his four-legged pal, vomiting out all the blood in his body.
Nick heard the familiar sound of panic from the lounge. He knew that sound as well as he knew his opinion on birds.
"Matt, open up the door" He pounded on the door. Matt had locked it originally to piss but that didn't look like that plan was happening anymore.
Chris heard the knocking from his room and went upstairs. "What's happening?"
Nick shrugged and pounded on the door again. Matt screamed all of a sudden. Chris and Nick jumped back in shock, never hearing such a sound from his brother.
"Oh my God is he getting murdered or something? MATT OPEN UP" Chris screamed, the way his fist was hitting the door, it would have holes in it soon.
The door nob twisted and Matt opened the door.
"Oh fuck Trev" Chris ran over to his dog. Nick couldn't handle the blood, instead taking Matt out of the room to calm him down. Matt didn't want to leave though.
"No Nick, let me go, please" He pleaded, trying to get out of Nick's tight grip.
Nick loosened his grip but didn't allow Matt out. "You can drive him to the vet. Let's just get you ready to do that"ย Nick made a deal. Matt listened.
Chris grabbed some old towels, wrapped up Trevor like a burrito, and carried him to the car.
The rest is history.
History is fucked up.
--
Matt looked at the egg in front of him. Neither Nick and Chris had touched theirs either.
All of them looked deader than someone in a grave. Eye bags were all prominent on their face. All wearing all black. Hair was not done, it was hard to believe it was eleven am.
The silence had returned, a rare occasion for the household and it was quite eery.
Horror movie-type shit.
Maybe a bit of everyone's soul was taken?
Everyone was sitting with their thoughts, each one taking a seat at the table.
"I miss him" Nick announced, slicing the silence in half.
"Me too" Matt responded. He pushed his plate away from him.
"Me three" Chris added. That's all that was said the whole of the breakfast. Chris and Nick ended up putting some food in their systems, trying to keep that normality.
It was hard to believe that Trevor had been living there for three days. They had gotten used to living with a pet again, and then that slipped like a kid down a muddy hill.
--
"Yeah mum, I've got it. Love you"
Chris hung up the phone. He called his parents since they had yet to know about Trevor and all of a sudden, London was the last place they wanted to be.
"What did they say?" Nick asked straight away. It was almost like when they were children and as soon as their parents got off the phone, they'd ask who it was.
"Mum is sobbing and I don't know how Dad is. I told them to stay in London though, that we have it all under control. Mum is really worried about us though and Matt especially" Chris explained, recalling his Mum's mothering during the phone call.
Nick nodded, understanding the fear. "He just needs us. That all"
Chris agreed but deep down he knew Matt would need a couple of months to bounce back.
Trevor was like a brother to him. The only difference was the language barrier.
"Are you guys talking about me?" Matt announced, walking into the kitchen. He knew the drill by now, something bad happened, worry about Matt.
"Have you eaten today?" Nick and Chris said. They both looked at each other, weirded out by that.
"Telepthy much. And I'm not hungry. I'm going for a drive" Matt then grabbed his car keys and went off.
Nick was about to stop Matt but Chris stopped Nick.
"Let him go. We need to test out telepathy skills. I wonder if we could put our minds together and get telekinesis"
Nick shaked his head. He did the math in his mind real quick, how was he related to this human being again? "I don't think that is how it works"
Chris rolled his eyes. "You are more of a killjoy than Matt. That's saying something"
--
The family huddled around the area of grass, that was dug out.
They flew back to Boston, and somehow brought Trevor. The airport understood..
Matt was holding a box, with Trevor's name on the lid, decorated with little sketches. Justin had his arms around Matt and Nick, and Chris had his head on his dad's shoulder.
A bucket full of tears was produced.ย Everyone had refused to keep their emotions hidden.
"Love you trev" Matt kissed the box and placed it in the dirt hole. Jimmy moved Chris's head onto Mary-Lou's head did Chris was a head taller than her. Then he started to place the dirt back into the hole.
Buried was happiness, a human in the Sturniolo's eyes.
They all stood there and cried. Cried like the world was ending. Felt like it.
Then they learned.
Nothing lasts forever and nothing stays the same.

Do you think woodpeckers peck unicorn's horns?
See I cope with this shit with humour, so if you want an amazingly sad chapter, you are in the wrong place. But please enjoy your stay.
Love you all
