Awww, who would have thought?
I watched Chizaram lean closely into the tall guy's body. He had fine glowing brown skin, a full thick Afro atop his head, dark brown eyes and full lips. He had a light smirk tugging at his bottom lips and stared at her like she was the centre of his universe as she grumbled about something to him.
The looks they shared showed how badly they were into each other. The duo looked weirdly cute.
With one glance at the guy, I could tell he wasn't someone so loud. The cool, reserved, kinda person. I barely saw his lips move throughout their conversation.
Chizaram being Chizaram, nerdy glasses and her overly cheery attitude. She did the whole talking and he listened.
As they say, the opposite attracts.
She soon spotted me and planted a quick kiss on his lips, trudging towards me with a vibrant smile on her lips.
"Oh well, didn't see you there." Her face heated up slightly and I stared at her, totally amused.
"Of course, you didn't. You looked all loved up with the tall guy." I snickered in amusement and she chuckled, tucking a stray curl behind her ear.
Somehow, I didn't know how she managed to crawl into my space. Funny enough, I'm not one to keep friends, even though I do not understand how I'm able to put up with her. She could be a handful at times.
Yeah, says the girl with crappy mood swings!
Weirdly speaking, She knows when to push it and when not to. Respects my private space and doesn't bug me.
"That's Jeremy, my boyfriend," She began. Her excitement was contagious. The way her eyes naturally brightened with sparks at the mention of his name was priceless.
"We have been together since the last session and well.. oh my goodness, this is so awkward." She giggled softly and I rolled my eyes playfully at her.
"Mama, don't bother. You can always tell me later when your cheeks don't look like it's about to burst from all the blushing." I said in a bid to tease her.
"Speaking of which, you just ran off yesterday before the bell. Where did you go? I tried to reach you but you weren't picking up." She jabbed me slightly with her elbow and I winced.
"Oh, that was nothing. I just remembered I had something to take care of." I shrugged casually and avoided her eyes, I heard her sigh softly after a moment.
We fell into a comfortable silence as we walked back to class but it didn't last long because Chizaram broke it.
"I have a request," She turned to me with a wide grin and I stared at her for a moment before urging her with a nod.
"Okay. So, Jasmine is throwing a party tonight. Will you come with me, please?" She stopped walking for a moment, peeking at me through her lashes with a pout on her lips.
I was conflicted. I didn't know what to say to her.
"Errr... I ...listen, I honestly don't know." The words flowed out of my mouth and I instantly regretted it, judging by her crestfallen look.
It wasn't like I had something important I had to do at home. I just stay cooped up in the house, doing nothing all day. Here's a chance for a night out that equals distraction that I wasn't willing to take.
"Uhm, sure, it's okay. I understand." She answered with a smile that didn't reach her eyes. There was nothing to contain the guilt I felt.
Going out for a night wouldn't hurt. What's the worse that could happen?
Fuck this...
I shut my eyes briefly and ran my fingers through my temples. Grabbing her by the hand, I nodded with a smile.
"I'll go with you," I said softly and she squealed, pulling me into a hug. I rolled my eyes for a moment and tapped her on the back gently.
"We will dress up at your place. Is that okay with you?" Even if it isn't, I couldn't bring myself to say no to her. I didn't want to crush that excited gleam in her eyes.
"Sure." I smiled softly at her and she squealed, wrapping her hands around my midsection. If being around her helps suppress my pains, then I'll take it.

I held the ceramic sink tightly, glancing at my red-manicured nails in the process. I shut my eyes for a second and released a breath I didn't know I was holding.
I was so exhausted. I felt so suffocated. All I wanted to do was just stay in here all night, staring into space. But how could I tell Chizaram I wasn't up for partying? That'd be plain idiotic. I guess I'll just have to suck it up and endure for the night.
I glanced at my reflection in the process and exhaled softly. I had left my braids unpacked earlier and it highlighted the nude glam Chizaram had taken her time to perfect on my face. The one I might smear with tears anytime soon.
I wanted something comfortable so I went with black cargo pants and a matching loose tee to go with my black shoulder bag and white vans sneakers.
I inhaled deeply not wanting to smear my makeup and stop the tears from dropping, fiddling with my fingers in the process.
"You okay, babes?" Chizaram inquired, from the other end of the door.
"Yes, Zee. I'm fine."I responded. I tried to hide my croaked voice and walked out of the room.
The light-skinned girl was busy adding finishing touches to her makeup. She was clad in a tight crimson-red dress. The fine material hugged her figure in the right places. She looked taller in her black six inches heels. I didn't need to be told twice that she'd turn heads at the party. She looked gorgeous.
"How do I look?" She asked and spun lightly, making me chuckle.
"You look hot." I smiled and reached for a powder brush, retouching my makeup.
"Come on, we are late." She drawled and stuffed her things into the black LV bag in her hands. Sparing me one last glance, she grabbed her car keys and pulled me out of the room.

"Who is this Jasmine again?" I turned to the light-skinned girl, wrapping her hair in a neat big bun atop her head.
"Oh, she's a bitch." She responded in a nonchalant tone and I raised a brow at her statement. Girl, what?
"Yes, Kira. Jas is a stuck-up, selfish bitch," She began, obviously trying to state a reason as to why she said that.
"She's one of the popular kids at school. Your stereotypical mean girl. Rich, snotty and bitchy as fuck. But, girl, she throws the hottest back-to-school party. Trust me, it's not something you want to miss." She said, adding extra gloss to her lips and shut her compact mirror close.
"She's a bitch and we are attending her party? Chizaram, you are crazy, abeg." I rolled my eyes and she chuckled, reaching for her phone in her bag.
"Time for a selfie." She drawled, flashing the camera in our faces. I managed to put on a light smile and heard the click of the camera before pulling away.
"Come on, let's go party." I shook my head at her and stepped out of the car slamming the door shut. The compound was filled to the brim with luxurious cars.
Yeah, Cove's students would never miss the opportunity to flash and show off their cars that were worth millions. They loved things like this.
For a house as big as this, I'm not surprised by the large ass sitting room we stumbled into once we stepped in. It felt like we stepped into a palace. Everything in here screamed royalty. It was painted in cream with gold touches. The furniture and paintings were on point.
Trust me, this girl's parents have to be billionaires.
No kidding, this house is massive. Teens were sprawled on the couches with red plastic cups lying around every corner.
Fireboy's Playboy was blaring from the speakers and jamming everywhere. I couldn't help bobbing my head to the jam. Where the hell did they get speakers that were as loud as this? I mean, the overly loud sound was almost piercing my ears.
Your typical high school party.
The light coming from the chandelier was too bright, drawing attention to us as we stepped in.
"Yo, Chi!" I heard a light-skinned boy whistle at her. The vibrant girl chuckled, waving at him with a wide grin on her lips.
"Yo, Allan!" She yelled back, matching his excitement.
Boy, that drew more attention towards us. If half of the room had their eyes trained on us before, the whole room did now.
Different people bore holes with their eyes into our bodies. Thank God I knew how to deal with this, I'd have shrunk underneath their hot gazes.
"Who is that?" I asked, nudging my head towards the Allan guy.
For one, he's hot. He had this smooth light skin and a neat afro, with muscles and a super attractive smile.
"Oh, that's Allan. Allan Ejiofor. He and dem Jasmine fall into the same category. Don't get me wrong, Allan is cool. Like, cool. Do you want to say hi to him?" She asked with a teasing smile and I flipped her off.
"No, some other time," I responded dryly, I wasn't in the mood to interact. But then, it was too late because he was already approaching us.
Fuck me...
"Oh, too late. Here he comes." Chizaram whispered. I mustered up a tiny smile and squeezed her hands harder.
"Ahn Ahn nau, Kira!" She whined, I shut her up with a glare. She stuck out her tongue at me and I rolled my eyes. Childish much?
"Chi mama!" His voice boomed once he got to us. He looked sinfully good in his white vest that hugged his muscular frame tightly.
He had a brown leather jacket over it coupled with dark blue washed jeans. I needed no one to tell me the sneakers on his feet cost a fortune. The white piece of luxury looked so pure without a speck of dust.
Hot, check.
Nice fashion sense, check.
"Damn! Ash, take it easy on us." He whistled and pulled her in for a brief hug. He pulled away shortly, Chizaram who was feeling herself smirked and flipped her imaginary hair off.
He snickered before turning to me with a warm smile on his lips.
The intention I had to snub him just washed away. I couldn't do it. He was too warm to be ignored. It was so clear he wasn't faking it.
"The new girl?" He asked, a light smirk dancing on his lips. He gave me a not-so-subtle once-over before his eyes came back to rest on my face. The corner of his lips twitched with an impressive smile.
Really, Nigga? Be subtle!
"Yeah, I'm Shakira," I responded and he flashed me a warm smile.
"Shakira, you are really pretty. It's so nice to meet you. I'm Allan." I eyed him lazily for a moment before nodding my head.
"Welcome to Blue Cove,"
"Thank you," I responded dryly.
"I'll see you around, girls." He beamed at us before walking back to his friends. I turned to Zee immediately after he was out of earshot. The teasing smile on her lips made me raise my brows questioningly at her.
"Kini?" I frowned deeply, my arms folded across my chest.
"What was that?" She waggled her brows and I fought the urge to roll my eyes so hard.
"Sha, I know he's hot. Like really hot. You can breathe now, sweetheart!" She dragged her words and I smacked her on the shoulder while I tried to hide the grin on my face.
"Oh fuck you, Zee!" I shot back at her. Her annoying laughter resonated in my ears.
I took my time, taking in every inch and detail of the room until my eyes met hers, where she was standing in one of the numerous hallways in the large living room.
We locked gazes for a while. I could feel my gaze harden and my lips curled in a slight sneer. I knew what she was doing.
She was light-skinned, drop-dead gorgeous, and had luxury water curls wig on her head. Her makeup was without flaw and almost had me thinking I was looking at Ariana Grande for a second there.
She had a guy trapped against the wall. Her head tilted to the side with this seductive smile on her face. She was…flirting with him. And damn, she's fucking good at it. She knew what she had and she was using it.
The guy and Allan had something in common, their vibrant aura. It was so hard not to notice. His smile was swoon-worthy.
Also, they both had the same light skin. The only difference being the guy was a shade lighter.
The white micro mini gown she was clad in hugged her curves and stopped right on her mid-thigh, showcasing her smooth fair legs.
With one glance at her, I could tell she was Jasmine Duru.
Her looks screamed class! She was what I would classify as an exotic beauty. The kinda girl that got everything she wanted just by the snap of her fingers. That energy radiated from her.
Bitchy and pretty. She looks kinda small though but I knew better than to trust those petite girls. Chiziterem Reign Maduka taught me a lesson.
Like she could read me, her lips stretched in a cold smirk. Our eyes were locked in a searing staring contest. I cocked my head to the side, glaring back at her till she tore her gaze off me. Reluctantly, if I might add.
Been there, done that. Next one, please?
"Let's just hang at the bar area. I don't want to make you uncomfortable." Chizaram said softly, pulling me out of my thoughts.
I followed her and we took a seat by the bar. She dropped her bag on the table, her phone beeped and she groaned.
"Come on, go ahead. Go take it." I smiled at her and she nodded. She planted a quick kiss on my cheek and she strutted off. I sighed and turned to the glass of fruit wine in Infront of me and poured myself some.
I let my eyes travel around the people in the room, probably lost in making out, playing beer pong and vibing to the music.
It would have been enjoyable if I wasn't so bored to the bones. I wanted nothing more than to get out of here but that'd be unfair to Zee. She has been nice to me since I came to the school. She didn't deserve that. So, for her sake, I'll stick around.
Then, I saw him.
He distinctly stood out. He was in the midst of other guys but he was the only person I could see at that point. He was sprawled lazily on the couch, typing away on his phone with no care in the world.
I suddenly had my eyes pinned on him, watching his every move like a hawk. His fingers moved so swiftly and daintily on the screen of his phone.
He put the other guys to shame with his simplicity.
There was this sudden rush of calmness and serenity I felt whilst staring at him and for a second there, it just felt like I wasn't here anymore. It felt...peaceful.
He was oblivious to the fact that he had me staring but that didn't last long. He sensed my eyes on him.
He jerked his head towards my direction and our eyes locked. His eyes beheld mine for several seconds. I would liken it to some sort of hypnotism because I couldn't break out of our mini-staring contest.
And then, I saw his lips stretch in a warm smile. I might have forgotten how to breathe for a second because that was hands down the most beautiful thing I have seen today.
He had caramel-brown skin. The type that had a light undertone in it, bringing out the whole caramel in his skin that was in perfect contrast to his light pink lips. His hair was in a low cut but that wasn't what had me hooked.
It was his eyes
They were pure Grey.
Shakira, stop staring. It's not that hard! I chided myself.
It was so hard not to stare at him. The fact that I was shamelessly ogling at a stranger had me mad with rage.
I swallowed, audibly.
Crap!
My gaze travelled downwards and rested on his attire. It was simple yet nice. A large black sweater, black ripped jeans and a pair of Nike air force sneakers.
He looked so damn good in it. It was nothing to lie about. I have hardly met guys who pull casual outfits off as he did. It was like he didn't have to try.
My eyes snapped back to his face and I saw his lips twitch, again. He looked amused. He was staring at me too. He didn't back down until I did.
It suddenly felt too hot in here.
The more I stared at him, I couldn't help but realize something about him just seemed so familiar but I couldn't place it. I reverted my gaze off him after a while and gulped my drink at once, grabbing my phone to distract myself from the unwanted thoughts.
A vaguely familiar scent wafted into my nose a moment after. It's not a strange smell but I just couldn't remember anything even if I tried.
"Hey. Can I sit?" He asked, softly. His tone had this slight huskiness in it. It wasn't too deep. Just the right amount of depth.
Oh, God...
Those grey eyes came into view and I knew the scent came from him, judging by how close he was.
Too close. I could almost feel his breath on my face. Those grey orbs looked like they were piercing into my soul as he stared at me.
He stared at me as if he had me all figured out and I'd be lying If I said that didn't make me uncomfortable.
My face contorted in a hard frown. There was nothing that irritated me more than the stupid smile on his face. God, it makes me want to pull out his nose and feed it to him.
"Go away." I frowned and turned to my phone.
I heard him sigh softly and took a seat in front of me, leaning into his chair. I cursed under my breath and dropped my phone, folding my arms under my chest.
"I thought I told you to leave. The seat belongs to my friend and she'll be here any minute." I threw him the stink eye and watched his lips stretch in a lopsided grin.
Can you just stop smiling for a second? It irritates the crap out of me.
He stared at me for a moment and chuckled. He grabbed a glass cup and poured himself some drink.
The nerve though, the nerve.
I massaged my temples and paused for a moment. I kept my eyes trained on him, trying to remember where I had seen him from.
Then, it suddenly clicked. My eyes widened in realization.
"I know you,"
"Oh my goodness. You are the guy I met on the road a few days back. Wait, I think you took me home. It's all very foggy, I really can't remember." I added.
The caramel-skinned boy had something akin to fascination and amusement swirling in those grey eyes. He nodded, beaming at me.
"You sure took your time. Anyways, what were you doing in that area by that time?" My hold on the glass tightened as my mind flashed back to the event two days ago. I stiffened, trying to control the anger surging through my veins.
"Frankly speaking, it's none of your business." My tone came out harsher than I intended but I didn't feel guilty about it.
"I didn't get to thank you. So, thank you and you can get out of my face now." I spat venomously and he raised his hands in mock surrender.
"Easy, Reina," He drawled.
Wait...what?!
"I didn't mean it that way." He raised his hands in mock surrender and I scoffed. Of course, you didn't!
"Excuse you! I have a name and it's Shakira, not Reina." I said through gritted teeth and he snickered.
"I didn't ask. I was content calling you Reina, Reina." He drawled softly with a light smirk on his lips and I facepalmed.
"What the hell is wrong with you?" I spoke up, unable to hide my irritation.
"I'm just trying to engage you in a conversation. You are the one acting like you are on edge…" He trailed off.
"You know what? Fuck you!" I yelled and grabbed my bag.
My voice had gotten an octave higher, resulting in attention towards us. Glaring daggers at him, he still had that amused look on his face which made me so irritated.
"Kira?" Chizaram called in a questioning tone. My eyes swatted to the light-skinned girl that looked so confused. My eyes softened and I exhaled. I didn't say a thing to her.
I just couldn't do it anymore. I needed to get out of here. I couldn't deal. If I stayed in here for one more second, I swear to God who made me, I'll strangle this guy.
I stormed out of the room in annoyance. I should have known. This party is a disaster.
Argh!
A/N
God, abeg o.😂😂😂😂💔 Wahala tie durag.😂
Okay! Our lead characters' first encounter. Well, I wouldn't necessarily call it a first encounter. More like a one-on-one conversation and that didn't end well.🌚
Oh, well.🌚
Can someone please tell Shakira to drink water and rest?😂 Hian!
Come on guys, there is a shitload of things to talk about in this chapter. I'm dying to hear everything. I want to hear everything. Tell me all about it in the comments section.
