KAISA Hร„Mร„Lร„INEN

"Push away all the people who know me the best
But it's me who's been making the bed
I'm so tired of bein' the girl that I am
Every good thing has turned into something I dread"

ย  ย  ย  ย  ย  ย  ย  ย  KAISA HAD NEVER thought she'd get so attached to James that seeing him cry was making her cry as well. She hadn't cried in so long, it was almost refreshing letting those tear fall.

ย ย  As she sat there, feeling content in the warmth of the moment with Jamsie right in front of her, she felt that feeling in her chest again. Comfort. She missed this, she missed him.

ย ย  Soon after that, they grew even closer. James started to regain his memories one by one, even the ones he had before meeting her or even coming to this awful place. And when she asked him to, he told her stories. Kaisa found herself smiling and laughing more often, sometimes at the stories he had told and sometimes just with their interactions.

ย ย  She tried not to think about what they told her over the comms, it was awful and honestly just bought out the worst in her.

ย ย  But the scientists wanted to know more.

ย ย  They wanted to know the extent to her powers, how they work, how they can be controlled. They started testing on her more.

ย ย  -_______-

ย  ย  ย  ย  "Now... Try to think about creating a fireball, a small one in your hand," She heard the harsh command come from her new handler, Alexander Pierce as he had introduced himself. "Now, Poltergeist!" He screamed at her.

ย ย  Kaisa loathed that name. She hated how it was used to refer to her, hated how dehumanizing it felt, hated how much power it had over her and how it sounded more like an insult coming from him. And she hated the man it came from, too. He hurt Jamsie. Her Jamsie. No one hurts him and gets away with it. Not if she gets a say in it.

ย ย  And so, without really realizing it, she had done exactly that Pierce had asked her to do. The red, orange and yellow fireball was lighting up in her palms, the flames licking her skin but instead of the expected feeling of discomfort and excruciating pain, she felt the heat coming off of it and felt a strange sense of relief and connection to it. It felt weird to her, she had to acknowledge that and felt her eyebrows rising from the unexpected turn of events.

ย ย  She was caught off-guard even more when she heard clapping and looked up, noticing Pierce clapping and having a twisted smile on his face. She felt disgusted. This man was a nightmare.

ย ย  "Wonderful! Good girl," She heard through the beating of her own heart in her ears, "What a beautiful, precious, magical good little girl you are! You'll do many great things for HYDRA, my dear."

ย ย  As the initial shock started to fade, she felt the rage once again taking over her body, spreading through her chest, making it feel like it was about to burst any second with how much it was burning her. He hurt him. He hurt Jamsie. Jamsie was suffering all because of him. Sadistic asshole. His fault. Everything was his fault. She was here because of him. Jamsie was screaming his lungs out in pain because of him. Many dead, many injured, many buried improperly because of him. Many lives ruined because of him. Her eyes narrowed as a sharp pain shot through her head, but she ignored it and instead she concentrated on her target, her throat squeezed up and she felt herself lose control again, just like she had on top of that rooftop. She raised her hand, the fireball in it, still there, waiting, almost itching to be released. And so she aimed and threw it.

ย ย  Right at Pierce's face.

ย ย  -_______-

ย  ย  ย  ย  As she woke up from her last punishment, Kaisa felt weirder than usual. She felt that something was wrong. Whatever it was they had put in her, seemed to do the trick as she sat up and felt her stomach hurt and tingling in a weird sensation.

ย ย  She groaned and grabbed her stomach. The girl didn't even want to look at James at the moment, only focusing on her pain. It was unlike anything that she had ever experienced, so if this was an after-punishment, another torture method, then they were most certainly succeeding in making her suffer. She had learned her lesson. Never, ever charge at Alexander Pierce. He always has some spare soldiers to jump in front of him and die instead of him.

ย ย  It's not like she acted out of a step of escape or a desire to break free of this place, she was just furious and upset. She wanted him to hurt, hard. Even die, if possible. All for hurting her best friend and father figure.

ย ย  The stomach ache only seemed to worsen over time and the blonde's tiny body couldn't take it anymore.

ย ย  Kai doubled over and threw up all over the floor of her cell. It was disgustingly green and even some blood came out of her mouth.

ย ย  "Kai...? Are you okay?" She heard the concern in James' voice and tried looking up but another set of vomit exited her mouth before she could think of stopping it or saying anything to him. Kaisa didn't want James to think she was ignoring him, not for one minute.

ย ย  She hated throwing up. Hated
how she couldn't breathe whenever that happened, hated how her eyes watered, how there seemed to be more saliva in her mouth, how she started to cough immediately after and that lump in her throat after it that never seemed to go away.

ย ย  "Kaisa? Kaisa??" James was practically shouting at that point. Kai couldn't speak due to the overwhelming coughing sensation. "Kaisa?!"

ย ย  As soon as she could breathe normally again and not feel like another set of vomit was about to exit from her mouth and like she was going to suffocate, the young girl answered, "I'm sorry..." That's it. That's all she said.

ย ย  "Sorry? Sorry for what?" James' confused voice cut through the air, as Kaisa looked up and saw a twinge of pity and concern on the man's face.

ย ย  She knew she would have to explain what just happened to her friend but at the moment, the blonde was too tired and dehydrated to even say anything else. As she opened her mouth to tell James she was fine now, Kai suddenly only saw black spots and passed out.

ย ย  -_______-

ย  ย  ย  ย  When Kaisa opened her eyes and slowly sat up is when she realized she had just passed out in her own vomit. Her hair was in the green sticky liquid, temporarily coloring the ends of it green and reddish brown. The girl coughed and tried to take it out of her tangled hair, but it was practically mission impossible.

ย ย  Kai scrunched up her nose in disgust, not even wanting to inhale the scent.

"Kaisa..." She heard James, his scared and hushed whisper ringing through the air like cracked and broken bells. "Kaisa, look up! They're coming!" And so she did, almost instantly.

And James wasn't lying. The guards practically broke the door down as they kicked it open, like they always do and stormed in. The man in the middle eyes her suspiciously and as his eyes fell on her hair, the corners of his lips curled up in disgust and nodded at her, as if telling the other guards to look at how pathetic she looked at the moment. Which she knew she did. Kaisa could hear as James let out a low, almost animalistic growl at the guards looking at her like she was less than human.

The guards laughed at James, knowing he couldn't do anything even if he wanted to. They just had the upper hand. Like always.

They harshly grabbed her arm and dragged her out of her cell and out of the room her and James' cells were in. But this time they didn't go to a lab and that confused the blonde, as she has already prepared herself for being sedated and experimented on once more. It was the new norm for her. Except this time it wasn't.

Instead, they took her to a room with nothing but a tank full of water in it. That's when it hit her. They're going to experiment with her powers again.

"Now, Poltergeist," Pierce's annoyingly sharp tone interrupted her inner panic, "As you can see, I'm not in the room. The last little... stunt you pulled wasn't exactly the most convenient, if I may say." He laughed from behind the one-way mirror and continued speaking into the microphone like some kind of entertainment person. "However, I feel that that was meant to happen. At least we leaned a new thing about your powers! Stay positive, am I right?" He chuckled once more, the sound making Kaisa wanting to break that damn mirror and bang his head against the wall repeatedly before drowning him in the water.

"Now... You must be wondering why I said that. Well, your powers are extraordinary!" Now, that caught Kaisa's attention. "I see you're confused and also curious. Well, let me explain it to you. As soon as your little fireball hit the soldier... God rest his soul... He fell and the fire went out. But that's not where it ended, no... His body absorbed in the fire and it continued to spread inside his veins, then he died in one of the most painful and gruesome ways I've ever seen."

The little girl could feel herself go pale. Her powers did what now?

Sure, she knew that the soldier probably wasn't a good person if he was willingly working for Pierce, but still. That wasn't the person she was going for. She wanted to kill Pierce. And now she wanted to do it even more.

"Anyway, that's not what today is about. Today, I'm interested in your other abilities. So..." As soon as his voice trailed off, two guards grabbed her and started dragging her to the tank of water. Kai tried to resist, almost even screamed and cried like a real child.

She almost even pleaded, but stopped herself at the last second. "That word means nothing." She told herself over and over again as one of the guards pushed her head under the water.
