KAISA HรMรLรINEN
"And I'ma get you gone
Can't play me like your pawn
Set fire to your lawn
Just like you did to my heart
And I'ma wreck your car (And I'ma wreck your car)
And max your credit card (And max your credit card)
A lover on the large (A lover on the large)
You're gonna wish you never harmed me"
NOT ONE PERSON could predict what happened. Kaisa screamed under the water, her small body thrashing around as she so desperately tried to escape the inevitable. These dumbasses... Pushing her under the water won't do anything.
Because Kaisa had discovered that she can indeed breathe under the water. But she still disliked being pushed under it and being touched by the soldier's filthy hands.
When it happened for the third time, each time for longer periods, she was starting to become annoyed and frustrated. She felt like she was the clown in the circus, only existing to entertain the audience, who in this situation was Pierce and his personal body guards. 'Pathetic...'
Then it happened the fourth time.
They had pushed her head in the tank again, her eyes were still open since it happened so unexpectedly, the water burning her eyes and the girl furrowed her eyebrows, now even more mad.
Ten seconds...
Fifteen seconds...
Thirty...
Forty...
A harsh pull on her wet hair, then fresh air filling her lungs once more is all she felt. Well, apart from the burning in her chest that was slowly but surely spreading through her body; her arms, her torso, her legs, her head... She felt herself losing control as she became more and more agitated. She glared at the two guards who still held her harshly and in the span of ten seconds, she has come up with at least three ways on how to murder them and get the hell out of the room. She wasn't just irritated or infuriated, she was hostile and more and more aggressive by the second.
"Again," Came the strong, unwavering voice of Pierce.
Ugh, just how much Kai hated his stupid voice, his idiotic face and his wrinkles on his face that made the little girl want to push him back and step on his face to break his idiotic nose and possibly even a few of his teeth as well. The thought of hurting Pierce, the Pierce who who-knows-how many times had tortured her best friend, her Jamsie, the Pierce who was a sadist and lived in delusion who also hurt her without a second thought, the Pierce who hurts innocent people with ease just filled her with more hatred and anger. Kaisa wanted to be the last thing the old man saw with his stupid blue eyes. She wanted to be the one who burned him up and watched as he flailed around, trying to escape her wrath, desperately pleading and making empty promises in his last moments, like the pathetic little idiot he was. Kai wanted to make sure he wouldn't hurt anyone anymore, especially not Jamsie. Jamsie was hers! Her best friend! Her father figure! Pierce had no right! She wanted to watch as his blue eyes lost all the light, as he slowly came to realize that the girl wouldn't give up and let him go, that that was the end for him and he would die there and then. That the monster he created finally strikes back.
She thought of his face as he slowly burned to death, feeling the hatred and madness spread even further in her chest as the guards pushed her head under the water once again.
This one was the longest.
Ten seconds...
Twenty...
Thirty...
Forty...
Fifty...
Sixty...
One minute...
One minute and six seconds.
Kaisa had snapped.
She screamed at the top of her lungs in the water, until the glass shattered and took advantage of the guards' unexpectedness and pushed her head back, escaping his loose grip. Then she turned around and acted quickly. Kai kicked him in his crotch, making the man double over and cry out in pain as tears started welling in his eyes. Kaisa narrowed her eyes and looked at the other guard, as she raised her hands and grew vines out of the ground to hold him down.
Faintly, she could hear someone screaming something in the background, but she didn't even pay any attention to it. She held the guard down and took joy in the helpless and fearful look on his face. Finally, she was the one in control. Power. She had the upper hand and nothing has ever made her feel more alive.
ย ย The little girl could feel her powers unleashing, now nothing was kept contained. She raised her hand to bring the guard up and smirked at him.
ย ย "You-Your... eyes... They're glowing!!! GLOWING RED!" The guard stuttered and for a second, Kaisa was caught off-guard. What? Her eyes were glowing?
ย ย HOW COOL WAS THAT??
ย ย Kai took a deep breath and formed a fireball in her other hand and threw it at the shaking guard. As she watched him burn, she knew who her next target will be.
ย ย Pierce.
But she soon felt a sharp pain in her neck and as she looked back, she realised that the guard she had previously kicked and forgot to kill had struck a needle in her neck.
"Tsk, tsk, tsk... Poltergeist... What did I say about disobedience and aggression towards my soldiers?" Kaisa could faintly hear the mocking disapproval in Pierce's words. If she had the energy, she would blow him up without a second thought.
Truth be told, Pierce really did give her a lecture as the ruthless soldiers were drowning her in the water. He kept talking about how disobedience and any form of defiance will not be tolerated, as he needs a perfect weapon ready to follow orders and kill without any regret or empathy whatsoever. He mentioned how she was considered too valuable to just be thrown away and he wasn't sure what the "erasing machine" would do to her still developing brain and body, so he wasn't about to use it on her. And he also went on a long rant about how she was the perfect subject and how quiet she is, which makes everything easier, if only she could stop being so foolishly hopeful that she would be able to get out, to escape. The man wanted the young girl to believe that she was already at home, that she should just accept it and give up on the childish behaviour she's putting on. At that point, Kaisa wanted to scream, yell and shout at him. But she couldn't. She couldn't yell at him, couldn't speak to him, couldn't hurt him and couldn't even see him. It was like a way of sick mockery from the man's part. All she wanted was to punch him. In his stupid face. With a chair. Multiple times until he didn't move anymore and the red liquid spread on the ground, creating an ironic halo around his head. That's the closest he'll ever get to Heaven either way. There's no way he wouldn't rot in the last pit of Hell, if it existed. To be fair, Kaisa felt that she had been through Hell and back twice already and it was even worse than in her last life, even that was better than this.
She always hated being used. She was tired. Tired of being a weapon. How incredibly foolish was she to believe that whatever happened to her was a second chance? No, just more torture and failed attempts to escape. 'This is what you were made for, Nea... To be a weapon. Nothing more. You should've accepted it by-'
"Now." The voice of her old trainer was the first clear sound she heard in those moments. Her head along with her eyes started to feel heavier by the seconds.
'Fucking idiot... I swear to God, I am going to kill you in the slowest and most painful way possible and watch as you take the last shaky breath of your pathetic excuse of a life. Rot in Hell. Die. Die. Die. DIE! Die... die... die...' Kaisa thought to herself one last time before the darkness consumed her.
-______-
As the tranquilizer's effect started to subtile, the young blonde woke up in her cell once more.
Still dazed and slightly out of it, she looked around, taking everything in, before it hit her suddenly. She was back in the cell. It really is a never ending cycle, she felt like a clown in a circus.
"James...?" She whispered, really hoping he could hear her, because right now she really needed some reassurance and James' soft, fatherly tone.
"I'm here," Came the response, just like Kai had remembered. Soft like the wind on a hot day or a hot chocolate after a hard day. "I'm always here..." Kaisa looked up and saw him smile at her. That smile... She felt like she didn't deserve to even see it, let alone be at the receiving end of it. Not after what she just did. How could she be so, so apathetic and ruthless? Right... Because that's her destiny.
"Thanks..." She looked down and tried to hide any hint on how she really felt. "Jamsie...? Can I... ask you something?"
As soon as the words left her mouth, she immediately regretted them. 'Damn it!'
"Sure. Anything."
Damn it... He's too nice for his own fucking good.
"Uhm..." In reality, her head was still fuzzy so Kai really didn't have a question, she just wanted to talk to James to get her mind off of the awful things she recently did. "Can you... tell me a story? Of... Your childhood or... anything? Please?"
Kaisa sneaked a glance at James to see if she had treaded to a dangerous territory with this deeply personal question and if she should backtrack, but it seemed like James didn't mind answering.
"Wow, uhm... Sure. I'm warning you, though... I don't remember much, it was... Long ago, and... I'm not even sure if I'm remembering correctly, but... But I'll tell you all that I remember, okay?" He really was trying, the blonde could see and all she could do was simply nod.
"So... I had this childhood friend. I forgot his name. But... he kind of looked like you. Blue eyes, blond hair. And I remember, he was just as stubborn as you are. I have a few stories of him, if you'd like to hear them, I'll be glad to share them with you. He was... a character, for sure," James let out a genuine chuckle and Kaisa felt her eyes widen as she found her chest swell with happiness. Seeing James happy was like winning the lottery... Really, really rare but the moment itself is so purely full of joy and excitement that it's honestly the best thing Kai has ever experienced.
"Please... I wanna hear them. At least one." Kaisa desperately wanted to keep the conversation going. And also, she just really wanted to hear about this friend.
"Okay, then!" James smiled at her and continued, "One time... I remember he was very small and one time we went... into a shop, I think. And as I was talking with the cashier, he disappeared and I couldn't find him anywhere so I told the cashier I had lost my child and she made an announcement."
Kaisa blinked twice, in a total state of shock, before bursting out laughing. "He- What?"
"Yeah. It's a true story... I think," James nodded.
"And you really said he was your kid?"
"I believe I did. Looking back, it's funny now. But I was scared and worried for him at the time. I remember he had asthma and didn't know when to back down from a fight. He sure had a heart of gold, but he was being beaten almost every week. I had to keep looking over him." James smiled, his tone sounded nostalgic.
"Did it work? Did you find him?"
"Oh, yes!" James suddenly started laughing. But it didn't have any malicious edge to it, his laugh was genuine and so heartfelt that the blonde could feel herself tear up almost and a feeling of happiness spreading in her chest. It squeezed her, so she took a deep breath and just laughed with him.
Kai wanted to bathe in the moment, to let it sink into her skin, in hopes that it will eventually reach her soul and heal it somewhat. That is, if her rotten soul and heart doesn't outright reject the overwhelming goodness because deep down she knows she's a liar and far too gone.
And she eventually learned to just stop being negative in these pure moments in life.
And as much as she hated being in that dirty cell, she was also kind of glad that her cell-neighbour ended up being James, she finally got what she wanted so much. Someone to love and care for.
Suddenly, the sound of footsteps approaching could be heard and just from the sound of them, they could easily tell to whom it belonged to. And so, both of them stopped laughing like an "off" button was pressed on them.
Kaisa's blood ran cold.
Pierce.
