Chapter. 20

Y/N turned to the principal. “This isn’t over.”

Chen stepped forward, voice colder than ever. “It just began.”

As they reached the gates, the ambulance screeched in. Paramedics rushed out, but the Bangpink siblings didn’t leave Mina’s side until she was safely inside.

“Security detail’s thin today,” Rosé muttered, scanning the roofs. “This wasn’t random.”

Y/N turned toward them. “We’ll handle it from here.”

But Jin shook his head. “No. Someone shot a student in our school. Whether you like us or not, we’re involved now.”

A/N crossed her arms. “You think you're ready to face whoever did this?”

Yoongi’s eyes met hers, calm and certain. “We’re not just pretty faces, Lee A/N.”

Y/N’s eyes flickered between them — a mixture of annoyance and reluctant respect. “Fine. But don’t get in our way.”

“Same to you,” Taehyung replied, his tone lighter now.

As the ambulance drove off and the sirens faded into the distance, Bangpink regrouped in the school corridor, tense and focused.

Jennie checked her watch. “Sniper’s probably gone, but we can trace trajectory from the classroom.”

“Meet in the west corridor in ten,” Namjoon ordered.

“Let’s catch the bastard,” Jungkook muttered, already walking off.

Behind them, A/N turned to Y/N and said quietly, “They’re suspicious.”

“I know,” Y/N replied, eyes still on the school building with a slight smirk. “Let them hunt. They’re chasing a shadow while we deal with the prey at the right time.”

The hospital room was dim, quiet — except for the soft beeping of the monitor beside Mina’s bed.

A/N sat silently, arms crossed, watching the girl stir. Y/N leaned near the window, eyes narrowed, checking the guards stationed outside.

Mina’s lips parted weakly. “Is… is she gone?”

“No one’s coming right now,” A/N said calmly. “You were lucky.”

Mina blinked slowly, eyes heavy. “I… didn’t mean to… they said they’d kill my brother if I didn’t hide the stuff.”

“Who?” Y/N’s voice was sharp but quiet.

“I don’t know… but one of them had a snake tattoo. Wrist. Black ink.” Her fingers trembled.

Y/N and A/N exchanged a glance. That symbol didn’t belong to a street dealer. It was a syndicate mark — deep underworld.

Before Mina could speak more, a doctor stepped in. “She needs rest. Please.”

The twins left wordlessly.

Outside the room, they found Chen waiting. His expression was unreadable.

“She’s not the real target,” Y/N muttered. “She was just a carrier.”

“Someone’s cleaning the trail,” Chen said. “And they know we’re close.”

Just then A/n comes to there and said “ They got him.”

“Hyung, you keep the security in your check.” Y/n said “let's get our prey”

Meanwhile, across the city — in an abandoned warehouse near the school’s west block — Bangpink moved in formation.

Jungkook and Jisoo scoped the rooftops.

Yoongi and Namjoon scanned nearby surveillance feeds.

Rosé and Jimin checked the sniper's exit points.

Lisa crouched near the broken glass, scanning for residue.

“There was a tripod here. Marks on the ledge,” Lisa murmured.

Namjoon nodded. “Shooter was trained. Clean shot. Escaped fast.”

“I still don’t get how those twins knew where to look first,” Jimin muttered.

“Right?” Rosé added. “They walked in like they knew where the stash was hidden.”

“They’re hiding something,” Yoongi said flatly.

“They’re rich, not stupid. Probably have private investigators or some crap,” Hoseok offered.

“But why keep it from us?” Jennie asked quietly.

“Because they don’t trust us,” Jin answered.

Lisa stood, pulling out a thermal tracker. “Enough chatter. The shooter’s heat trail ends nearby. Let’s move.”

---

The Bangpink team cornered the sniper in an alley behind a hardware store. He fought viciously, but Hoseok and Jungkook took him down with coordinated speed.

Dragging him into their private underground safehouse — a concealed basement in the city — they strapped him to a steel chair.

His face was pale, bleeding from a cut above his eye.

Namjoon leaned in. “Who ordered the hit?”

The man spat blood. “You don’t scare me.”

Jennie cracked her knuckles. “You should be scared of who we’re protecting.”

“She was just a pawn,” Jimin said coldly. “The bullet wasn’t meant to scare — it was to silence.”

The sniper smirked, then whispered, “The Queen always cleans her mess.”

Bangpink froze.

“Queen?” Lisa echoed.

Suddenly — BOOM!

Smoke bombs dropped through the ceiling vents.

Lights cut.

Shouts echoed as armed figures in black tactical gear stormed in — silent, fast, ruthless.

Two masked figures walked in at the center.

One wore a long black coat, silver devil insignia on her glove. Her eyes — though masked — radiated power.

The other was slightly shorter, dressed in sleek tech gear. Glasses with a night-vision tint. Calm and controlled.

The Devil and the Night.

Mafia Queen and her Assistant.

Yoongi’s eyes widened. “That’s her. That’s Devil.”

Jennie pulled out her gun. “They’re after the sniper!”

The Queen raised her hand. In seconds, her guards had Bangpink cornered — not injured, but disarmed and blocked.

“No need for blood,” she said in a voice masked by a subtle vocal modulator. Still, something about her tone… familiar.

“We’ll take the target. You can walk out.”

Namjoon gritted his teeth. “He tried to kill a student.”

“Exactly why we need him,” said the assistant — her voice lighter, sharper, but just as firm.

Taehyung stepped forward. “Who are you?”

The Queen walked up to him, slowly, almost amused.

“We’re the ones you never see… but always feel.”

Then — in a flash — her hand moved. A single dart. The sniper collapsed, unconscious.

Before Bangpink could stop them, smoke flared again.

When the air cleared — they were gone.

Just like shadows.

---

Bangpink stood there in silence, processing.

“They moved like they owned the city,” Rosé whispered.

“They do,” Jungkook murmured, eyes still on the empty space.

Lisa didn’t say a word, but she was already replaying the Queen’s movements in her mind — something too familiar. Too... close.

Yoongi muttered, “If they’re protecting the girl, and cleaning the mess… who are they really?”

Jennie whispered the question no one dared say aloud:

“And what if they’re the ones closest to us?”

-- 8:30 at Night --

The moonlit highway was quiet, but the weight of the day sat heavily between the two sisters.

Y/N drove fast, one hand on the steering wheel, the other resting on the gearshift. Beside her, A/N leaned against the window, unusually quiet.

Y/N’s eyes flicked sideways. “You okay?”

A/N didn’t answer.

Y/N frowned. “A/N?”

“…Dizzy,” A/N mumbled. Her voice was weak.

Y/N instantly knew.

Damn. Low blood sugar.

Without hesitation, she reached for the glovebox, pulling out a small emergency bar of chocolate she always kept stashed — just in case.

“Here,” she said, unwrapping it quickly with one hand. “Eat this. Now.”

A/N obeyed sluggishly, chewing slowly.

“Don’t scare me like that,” Y/N muttered, pressing harder on the gas. “You had breakfast today. What the hell happened?”

A/N managed a faint smile. “I didn’t get time for lunch… too much running around.”

Y/N sighed sharply and pulled out her phone, hitting speed dial. “Chen. I’m bringing her home now. She’s stable but low.”

Chen’s voice was instantly alert. “I’ll be waiting. Dinner’s ready.”

When they pulled into the gates of their mansion nestled in the quiet part of the city, warm light spilled from the windows. The guards opened the gates without question — they had already been informed.

As soon as they stepped inside, Chen stood from the couch. He was in casual clothes now, tie undone, sleeves rolled up.

“You okay?” he asked, walking over.

“She’s stabilizing,” Y/N nodded. “Just needs proper food and rest.”

“Dinner’s ready,” Chen said, leading them to the dining hall where a warm, comforting spread was laid out — courtesy of the mansion's private kitchen.

The maids disappeared quietly after serving, giving the siblings their privacy.

At the table, A/N sipped soup slowly. Her cheeks were regaining color.

“You locked the sniper?” Chen asked, voice calm but laced with authority.

Y/N nodded, slicing through her steak. “Basement cell. HQ outside Seoul. No Info yet. We’ll interrogate him after resting.”

“He’s well guarded,” A/N added between bites. “Our men are on full alert. No one gets near without our signal.”

Chen leaned back. “Hospital’s under tight security too. Mina’s stable. The doctor says she’ll wake up in a few days.”

A moment of silence passed. Then, Chen asked, “How long until Bangpink starts digging deeper?”

“They’re already suspicious,” Y/N said flatly. “Especially Taehyung and Yoongi.”

“But not enough,” A/N smirked. “They think we’re weird rich girls with too much power. Not underground royalty.”

Chen chuckled. “Let’s keep it that way.”

Dinner melted into soft chatter — the kind they rarely got to have. They laughed about a maid's new crush, argued over which ramen flavor was better, and shared quiet comfort in each other’s presence.

As they finished up, Y/N stretched. “School’s closed tomorrow. You two heading to the company?”

A/N grinned. “Night has some hacking to supervise.”

Chen nodded. “ZGDX board meeting. And you?”

“Moon has reports to bury,” Y/N smirked. “Let’s sleep. Tomorrow, we’re CEOs again.”

And with that, the mansion slowly faded into silence, as three deadly figures retreated to their rooms — hidden in shadows, but bound by love.
