Chapter Sixteen.

I looked at Michael, speechlessly. Logically, one would think we were moving fast in our "relationship."

"Are you serious?"

He nods as he grabs a bag, packaging some clothes, makeup, his medicine, some cassettes of movies and videos. I watch him as he mumbles,

"I need a break from this place. Please? Just for a couple of days."

I bite my lip as his chestnut-colored eyes stared at me, as he pleads with me.

I sigh, "Sure, okay. But you have to be good, and promise to watch over my grandmother when I'm gone." He nods as we walk out his room to my car. I open the trunk for him to put his bag in there and started the engine up.

As I drove to my house, all the way on the other side of the neighborhood. Michael was bopping his head to the radio. James Brown's 'I Feel Good' was on and Michael was squirming in his seat. I turn for second, "Whats the matter?"

He grunts, "I want to dance!" His loafers squeaked against the car floor mat as I laugh.

MARINA LOOK OUT!

I quickly turned, looking at the road and drove onto the grass as a car from the other side of the road swerve into my lane, almost hitting us. I honk my horn at the maniac as I breathe deeply. If I would've stay there for one more second, we would've been dead. I turn to Michael, who was as nervous as I was.

"You saved us..."

He looks at me with his hand was on my shoulder, "It was good that you had good reflexes." I nod as he kisses my forehead, "Do you want me to drive?" I shake my head, "No, I'm sorry for not being so present." The car ride the rest of the way was silent.

I finally made it to the two story-house and parked in the garage. He smiles, "You have a garage?" I chuckle, "Yeah, so you don't have to cover your face or nothing, you're safe here." He giggles as he gets out the car to get his stuff out the trunk. We went through the door that was connected to the kitchen from the garage as I take my jacket off and set the keys on the counter.

"Nana, I'm home!"

I smile widely as I watch my Nana come up and hug me tightly, "Rini, I missed you so much! I hate how they overwork you at that hospital!" She was wearing her baby-blue floral nightgown with her hair filled with small pink rollers. I blush as she cups my face, kissing my forehead in joy. Her eyes move from me to Michael and grins, "Well, aren't you gonna introduce me to your little friend?" I bite my lip shyly, completely embarrassed, "Nana...." Michael giggles softly as he reaches his hand out, "Hello, I'm Michael." My Nana swats his hand away and hugs his tightly, catching him by surprise.

"Mm, you must be a good one for Rini to bring you here. We don't shake hands here, mister. We hug. We all are family."

Michael plays along and hugs her. She looks up at him, admiring his features, "Aren't you handsome? What you do?" I stammer, "Nana!" Michael shakes his head at me, "It's fine, I don't mind. Well, I'm a singer. I sing songs." I comb my fingers through my curls as the two of them converse with one another, and Nana looks at me, "Well, don't you have a keeper!" I chuckle, "We are FRIENDS, Nana." She looks at Michael as he nods, agreeing. I fixed myself some tea as Michael took my Nana to the living room to show her some of his music videos he has on his cassettes.

I couldn't help but think about that car that almost hit us that night. Something told me there was more to that then a drunk driver.

What if it was the guy?!

I was interrupted by the beeping of the microwave as I take the warm glass of tea out of it and takes a sip of the bitter substance before going into the living room. Nana squeals, "I know you! You're the curly man with the many Grammys huh?" Michael laughs, "Yes that's me." I rest against the door veil, watching the two of them. At least Michael enjoyed my grandma's weird hospitality and company. My thumb rubs against the glossy white mug as I take an another sip as my Nana yawns. She turns around, noticing me as well as Michael.

"I think you need some rest, Nana."

She stands up and nods in agreement, "I do. You two get cozy in here. You have work tomorrow, Rini?" I glance at my watch, "Tomorrow night. 12 hours." She sighs, patting my cheek before walking up the spiral staircase, "You two better not be loud and before you try to fool me, you two have 'love' written all over your faces." I walk over to Michael once I hear the door of Nana's shut. He scrunches his face, "Guess I gotta go wash my face because I got words like 'love' written on it." I laugh at his joke as we sat on the couch together.

I smile as I set my mug on the coffee table as I curl up next to him as he lays on the couch, "You know, my Nana really likes you." He grins, "Good to hear, Rini." I gasp as he calls me his childhood name before slapping his chest playfully. He pulls me closer to him as we walk the cassette of the music video 'Billie Jean' playing on the medium-size tv.

Michael's fingers were tangled in my curls as he combs his fingers through them. I moan softly at the feeling of his fingertips against my scalp. He whispers, "You know you're the most beautiful woman I know?" I turn to him while giggling, "Lies." He shakes his head, "No, no, it's the truth." I kiss his nose as he scoffs, "You missed." I raise an eyebrow as he leans over as his lips pressed on mine. We both squirmed on the couch as I got on top of him, straddling his waist.

The chorus of 'Billie Jean' played in the background, causing us to laugh. He giggles while looking at me as I look at the screen and back at him, "You know you're the sexiest man on this planet to exist?" I lean over as my lips met up with his before he answers me. Our lips moved in perfect sync as my fingers fumbled with the buttons of his shirt. He breaks away while shaking his head whispering, "I didn't bring condoms plus your grandma is upstairs." I look at him, slightly disappointed as I slide off of him, laying beside him on the couch.

He sighs, "I'll make it up to you. This weekend. How about we go out of town together. A beautiful cabin in Tioga Pass. The mountains are breathtaking. The two of us alone. No distractions. No medical work. No Joseph. You and me, making love all day and night."

I bite my lip at his proposal, "That sounds really romantic." He nods in agreement as we both sit up on the couch. His soft, massive hands held mine as he looks at me, waiting for an answer. I kiss his cheek and whispers, "Let me think about it, okay?" He nods, "I understand. It's a lot to ask for."

"Michael, there's something else I wanted to talk to you about."

He looks at me, "What?" I squeeze his hands gently, "The car thing, earlier, do you think it was possibly..not a freak accident?" He frowns, "You think that as well? I thought so too. It was too...convenient." I panic a bit, "Why do you think he would try to kill us?!" Michael turns away before sighing, "To scare us probably. Who knows."

His hands legs go of mine as they crept under my shirt, reaching to my bra. I squint, "What are you up to?" He sighs, "I could pleasure you in other ways, ya know?" I roll my eyes playfully as I slaps his hands and he gasps, "That hurt!" I laugh, "Good, drama king. Let's go to bed." I grab his hand and leads him to my bedroom.

Hmm. We are meeting families and almost dying on the road? What an adventure. Too bad, I'm stuck at home.
