2. rainy day [🌧️]

It was a cold and rainy day. As you looked out the misty window, you saw the cold wind blowing through and the raindrops that fell on the glass made you feel somehow cozy inside.

"Hey (Y/N)! Need a lil help here!" Varian shouted from downstairs.

You got off the window seat, where you were just reading book under your warm blanket. You shouted, "COMING!"

You wore your bunny slippers and as you were going downstairs and you could hear the record player, playing an upbeat song. You went to the kitchen where Varian was at.

He was dancing along to the tune as he got the ingredients from the cupboard and some bowls. Swaying from one place to another. He seemed to be enjoying himself.

"So what you doing down here?" You asked.

"I'm trying to bake cookies for Dad since his birthday's coming up." He exclaimed.

"Well, looks like you do need some help, since the last time you made them, you made a whole kingdom hate you." You said sarcastically.

Varian looked at you and frowned as you laughed.

"Yeah, yeah very funny (Y/N). He huffed and pouted and went back to mixing his dough with such concentration with his hair dangling in front of his face.

"Awww, you know you look so adorable when you're angry Varbear." You cooed at him.

You went behind him and put your hands around his waist, pulling him in tight as you felt his shoulders relax.

"Hey (Y/N), you gotta stop cause Dad might see us and I don't want him to know that we're dating yet. He probably won't allow you to sleep over anymore." He said, but he secretly wanted this to last longer cause it made him feel safe.

"Don't worry, I checked. You're dad's asleep. He's probably tired from all the work he's been doing for the village." You assured him.

He felt your breathing on his face and breathed in your scent. You continued to hug him tighter cause he was too damn adorable. Little did he know it was a ruse, when you dipped your fingers into the dough and smeared it on his face.

"Why, you little-" he scowled as you laughed at his face. He wasn't going to let you get away with that. He grabbed a handful of flour and threw it at your face.

You gasped.

"Oh ho ho, it's on nerd." you smirked as you grabbed a stick of butter and threw it at him. The butter was now sticking on his hair making it all greasy.

As soon as he grabbed some dough, you ran away from him with a smile plastered on both of your faces. Without thinking, you opened the front door and went outside. You felt the raindrops on your skin. You ran your fingers through your wet hair and exhaled.

Varian also ran outside to catch you, but unfortunately as he ran out, he slipped on the pavements, toppling you as well.

You open your eyes to see Varian laying in top of you. He was pinning you down. You two stared at each other as he was captivated by (e/c) eyes. There was no doubt he was under your spell. To break the tension, he gave you a sweet innocent peck on the lips.

When you tried to process what happened, he got up, and splashed water all over you as you laid there on the ground.

He was laughing and seemed to be having the time of his life. You couldn't help but smile and look at him as if he were your entire world.

You got up and splashed him a bit of water as well, but he didn't seem to mind as he was dancing under the rain. You could still hear the record player from the inside, spinning a new song, and you could see Varian was encouraging you to sing it with him, while holding your hands dancing with him under the rain.

"Don't go breaking my heart"

He sang, with his heart overflowing with joy and was fully content with you being in his arms.

"I couldn't if I tried!"

You smirked, as you twirled around in the rain looking up at the sky and as you turned, you almost tumbled when Varian luckily caught you with his arm, almost like he was dipping you in a dance.

"Oh honey, if I get restless.."
"Baby, you're not that kind."

You got up with your back was facing him, as he wrapped his arms around you while your hips were swaying with the melody. You were in sync with one another.

"Don't go breaking my heart!"
"You take the weight off of me!"

You turned to face him as he held both of your hands spinning you both around until you felt dizzy.

"Oh honey, when you knock on my door.."
"Ooh, I gave you my key!"

As you were about to go inside, he pulled you back by your hands, and kissed it, like the gentleman he was

"Ooh, nobody knows it"
You sang in unison.

"When I was down.."

He leaned his body forward to you, shimmying his shoulders.

"I was your clown!"

You laughed as you also leaned forward, copying him as you smiled.

"Ooh, nobody knows it"

You guys just started jumping around in the rain like you had all the time in the world. He never thought he could be this happy. You made him so happy.

"Right from the start,"
"I gave you my heart oh, I gave you my heart"

You thought of an idea. Thinking you might be able to pull this off, you looked at Varian and it seemed like you read each other's mind as Varian winked at you.

"So don't go breaking my heart"
"I won't go breaking your heart"

You went to the opposite end of where he was. You were ready to be caught in Varian's arms.

"Don't go breaking my heart"
You ran as fast as you could and jumped, as Varian catched you by the waist and spun you around.

Magic filled the air as he slowly got your feet on the ground, your foreheads now touching. Varian slipped an arm around your waist. His gaze dropped to your lips and your heart leapt into your throat. You nudged him with your nose as he tugged you closer. The warmth of his body was what kept you from the cold of the pouring rain. His eyes fluttered shut and you did the same as well. Your lips were about to crash into each other when...

"HEY! WHAT'S GOING ON OUT HERE?"

Both of your eyes shot wide open. He saw you. This was the end. You're never going to see him again. You pushed Varian away from you. You were speechless. You didn't know how you were gonna get out of this.

"Dad, I can explain." Varian said as he also was trembling, not only because of his father but the sudden feeling of the sharp cold wind on his skin.

You were now inside Varian's room sitting oh his bed. At least, now you were wearing a new set of clothes that wasn't drenched in the rain. Quirin wanted to talk to Varian personally. He was wearing a straight face so you couldn't quite decipher what he felt about the two of you being together. You were scared of what was going to happen. Are you going to break up? Will Quirin get mad? What if Varian doesn't want to see you anymore? You panicked as the minutes passed by when finally Quirin opened the door.

You stared at the ground in silence. You were waiting to be scolded and lectured at, on how you were too young or maybe you two not being right for each other.

Instead, he knelt down so he could level with you, and hugged you tightly. You were shocked. You didn't expect this kind of reaction. Yet, you were happy that this was how it turned out. You put your arms around him in return and smiled.

"(Y/N), why did you keep this away from me?" Quirin asked.

"I thought you wouldn't approve of us. I thought you wouldn't want us to be together and you'd keep us apart." You confessed, feeling ashamed that, that was how you thought of him.

"Oh (Y/N), I couldn't do that to the both of you. I already love you like as my own daughter. You make my son happy and that's all ever want for him. For the both of you."

"Thank you." You felt like a weight has been lifted off of you. You were finally accepted by Quirin, meaning you and Varian don't have to hide anymore.

"Now, how about we eat some warm soup and play some board games?" Quirin asked as he stood up, his hand stretching out to you.

"Sure thing! Finally, this is where I can beat Varian!"

Quirin chuckled as you both head out of the room and into the dining room, where three bowls of warm soup were and a board game right in the middle.

You sat next to Varian as you smiled at each other, knowing that this will be the start of your journey together as the days go on.

"So, are you ready for me to beat you m'lady? Varian smirked as he slowly leaned toward you.

"Oh darling, you have no idea what's possible." You also leaned in close, looking like you were almost about to aggressively kiss him, as he still looked adorable with a blanket around him.

"Ahem." Quirin cleared his throat as he was looking at the both of you sternly. You both obliged as you began to drink your soup, pretending as if nothing happened.

"Let's begin!" Varian said as he grabbed the dice and was ready to roll.

So far, this was becoming a great day even with the pouring rain outside.

No matter the weather, every day was bright as long as you were with him.
