EXPLAINED - P1
BOOK - 1
Sohrin played the character of an ordinary girl, who worked for the media. She and Mark were like the inside characters for the media helping them get crucial pieces of evidence.
They came across an assignment to notify the most barren, deserted places of Seoul. Mark found out about the old, abandoned mansion. He had filed the case for that place in a way to help Sohrin, knowing how tardy his friend was.
They cleared all the places and got their reports, and left the file Mark made for last. The place he found out about was the old Jeon Mansion.
The place where Jungkook grew up.
Jungkook wasn't the bad guy, there is an old legend which said that when a person dies, his or her soul is transferred to the person born after him or her.
Jungkook was controlled his entire life by the spirit of Kim Jaowon. The man who killed himself in the rage of murdering his own wife. The spirit was aggressive and wanted to get rid of any woman who did not respect her own body.
He used Jungkook for doing so.
He found many women, and as Jungkook grew older, he used Jungkook's unconscious mind to take the lives of such women.
Jungkook was well aware of what was happening with his body as he grew older but was unable to confront it. Unfortunately, his parents took Jungkook's condition as a threat, a bad omen.
Jungkook's mother abused him and hit him after knowing that her son was being controlled by an evil spirit. In a fit of anger, he killed his own parents.
Slowly he destroyed the lives of any girl that Jaowon laid his eyes on.
Jaowon tried to conquer Sohrin's mind but was unable to do so because of her innocence. She never badmouthed anyone, mainly noticing the fact that she didn't associate herself with a lot of people as she grew up.
Mark was older to her and did all that was within his reach to provide her with a proper upbringing.
Sohrin was a kind-hearted soul, unlike the other girls whose lives were already destroyed before. He targeted girls himself, and couldn't just let go of a girl who came crawling herself.
He only indulged in her life because she came into the house with Mark. It was hard for him to get close to her though.
Sohrin could sense him in her head as well, and as soon as she did she knew something was wrong.
She and Mark soon got out of there.
They found Jungkook's body nearly dead in front of a tree and were terrified.
Jungkook had sensed Jaowon's new target, immediately he realized that Sohrin was nothing like the girls they had encountered before. She was just a naive heart.
Jungkook was in that condition because he tried to retort.
Kindly Mark and Sohrin decided to help the wounded boy they found and took him to the hospital. Jaowon made the inspector refuse himself and order the two friends to take Jungkook into their house.
Mark had constant business trips to Hong Kong and nearby cities to give out their assignments to other huge companies as a part of their jobs.
Sohrin was usual to a work from home and decided to take custody of Jungkook.
Jaowon used Jungkook to get Sohrin. He let Jungkook out of his prison and spend the time to make Sohrin truly believe that he was in love with her.
And eventually, she did after the amount of time they had spent together. Jaowon felt helpless at the sight of Jinyoung and wanted to get rid of him. Same with the guy who had molested Sohrin, the guy who accidentally spilled alcohol on Sohrin's clothes and anyone else that bothered him.
Sohrin never knew of it at all, never doubted a thing. Until the day when they encountered the abnormal old lady, they met in the forest.
When she first saw the lady, she noticed a little necklace that she immediately wanted to own. The lady was not a guardian angel. She was a lost soul, she knew of Jaowon. She knew what he did, how he destroyed people.
The woman too realized Sohrin's naive character and wanted to help her wholeheartedly.
Jaowon knew about the woman and wanted to get rid of her, although he couldn't really do anything. She was a lot stronger than him.
Mark found out about Jaowon's real family. He met them during passing on his assignment and eventually found out about the guy who was now living with Sohrin. He was furious and immediately wanted him to get out of both their lives.
And meanwhile, Jaowon got what he wanted, by getting her weak enough to make love with him, he was a step closer to taking her life. By tarnishing her purity.
When Mark came back, Jaowon first possessed Mark into forgetting all he knew. And while Mark was in his trance, Jaowon took his chance and went after Sohrin.
Sohrin came to know about all the people killed, but she thought that it was Jungkook behind all of it.
Mark was able to come back, but by that time Jaowon had already hurt her, she could have been dead soon.
When they were driving to the hospital a truck crushed their path, after a few days when Sohrin was conscious, the doctors revealed to her that her best friend was now dead.
Jungkook managed to win her trust back but there was always some sort of circumstance which leads her into finding out the truth.
Her biggest source was the album in which she stored all the memories she shared with Mark.
The pictures, albums, the black butterfly painting. They all were a part of her.
Jaowon was getting more attracted to her by the time, knowing of her interest in the painting.
It was the same painting that he adored with his wife when he was still alive years ago. His wife used to call herself the luscious red rose, and her husband as the black butterfly that was attracted to her warmth.
Sohrin too had same thoughts about the similar painting that she owned. She referred to it as the reunion of all that's good and evil.
When Sohrin was an inch closer to the truth, Jaowon took it all away from her. He made her completely forget all about her past, even Mark. He turned all the pictures, every single one into a memory that she had.
The friend that she had in Mark, Jaowon made her believe that it was Jungkook the whole time.
That she and Jungkook were together since the orphanage.
He got what he wanted. He made her his which was what he aimed for from the start.
