There was a phone call as I got back to the living room. Ruby was angry. Monse and I followed him to Olivias room.

"What's going on?" Cesar asked.

"There's no horse." Monse told him.

"Okay." I sighed, clapping my hands to my side.

"Okay? How is Olivia gonna get pulled in your carriage? Wait. Maybe we can get Jasmine to come back. She's crazy strong." We all shook our heads, its a bad idea. "We're so jacked! And do you smell that? Some asshole's getting lit in the middle of all of this."  I covered my smile, it did smell strong. "Okay, everyone out here now. We're 20 minutes and counting from the presentation, and after a little second-hand high, I'm starting to chill. We're gonna do a little improvising. Monse, remember the walking pas de bourrée we were gonna incorporate into the dance?"

"No." She shrugs.

"We're gonna do those so we can give Olivia and Cesar a proper entrance without the carriage."

"I'm not dancing with Cesar." Olivia told him. My eyes widen.

"What?"

"Why?" Everyone was asking.

"We just broke up."

"Are you kidding me? This whole day is falling apart. Cesar, your timing is terrible."

"She dumped me." Cesar confessed.

"We dumped each other." I looked at Monse. She looked surprised for a moment.

"If you're not gonna dance with Cesar, who are you gonna dance with?" Olivia looks at me.

"You." My smile did fade, but its her day. Ruby then turns to me and I gave him a shy smile. I clapped my hands. There was a knock on the door, probably another guest.

"Alright guys, lets get the show-" I said until I turned to the crew.

"Hey." Carlos walks in. My heart stopped. Cesar saw me as I clenched my knuckles, turning white.

"Aren't you-" Cesar frowned and I held him back.

"Dont." I growled.

"He shouldn't be here." He looked at me.

"I got it handled." I told him.

"Who? Valeria or la Diabla?"

"Lets go!" Rubys mom calls us. I gave Carlos the nastiest look. He stood besides me.

"Why are you here?" I spat.

"I'm your chamblan, no?" I snapped my head at him.

"You are going to regret coming here." We walked out. We took our stances, watching Ruby and Olivia dance. Carlos and I didn't speak a word.

"Come one Val." I continued to look straight ahead. "Lets talk."

"When the dance is over, you leave." I frowned.

"What if i dont?"

"You'll see." He chuckles.

"It'll be a shame if everyone at school finds out that you're a Santo." My eyes widen. I looked at him. He didnt look back at me. He just smiled. "Lets work this out."

"Im sorry, are you blackmailing me?"

"Such a shame." We came out to dance.

"Say what you want, they'll never believe you." I told him as we waltz around Olivia and Ruby.

"Watch me." His voice got deep. I kneed him in the dick, he bent down.

"No, watch me." The dance was over. I looked at Cesar. He nodded and we took him to my yard. Cesar held him by the vest. "Listen to me closely, you ain't gonna say shit about me. If you do and I found out, I'll be your worst nightmare."

"No hurt feelings mamas."i punched him across the face.

"No hurt feelings."

"Now go, before we do something worse." Cesar lets him go. Carlos wipes the blood from his lip and looks up.

"Be careful Val, once a Santo, always a Santo. Theres no escaping that." I crossed my arms and watched him leave.

"Lets go." I said as I walked back. Cesar grabs my hand. "Im not part of that life. I'll never be."

"Im just letting you know, i got your back." I hugged him.

"Lets be normal teens for the night." I smiled. Cesar smiled back as we walked to the dance floor. We dance in our group, until Ruby grabs my hand.

"I'm sorry to interrupt, but I need her." Cesar lets me go and I walked inside the house with Ruby. He took me to his room, and the twins.

"The party is amazing Ruby, you did great!" He stood there, looking at me. "Whats up?"

"I need to say this." He looked at me. "Val, I like you. No matter how many times I've denied it to you, I like you." He confessed.

"Ruby-"

"I just want you to know that. And if you dont feel the same, I understand." I smiled. "I kinda wished that I danced with you instead of Olivia, no offense to her."

"Yeah, same."

"Just seeing you in this dress, your makeup, the way you smile at me today. I want to see that every time we are together. Because you make me feel alive." I started to cry. "One day I'll be your boyfriend and im just trying to find my place. It's all a bit. Part of the long play. Cause someday, Valeria, Someday you're not gonna be able to keep your hands off me." I chuckled.

"Ruby?"

"Yeah?" I stared at him. We stood still. I stepped closer to him. I felt hot, Ruby just stared at me. I grabbed his cheeks and kissed him. Man fireworks went off, between us and outside. This felt good. This felt right.

"I like you too." I smiled as I pulled back. Ruby pulls me back in for another kiss. I wrapped my arms around him and we had a mini make out session. As we pulled away, i bit my lip.

"You have no idea how long I've been waiting to do that." I laughed. "Wait, you like me?"

"Yes silly, i mean, who wouldnt?"We both smiled, swaying. "Come on, we got a party to be at." I grabbed his hand and we walked in dancing to the group.

"Look at that pimp stick." Ruby pointed out.

"I miss Jamal." I said. I wonder what he is doing right now.

"I got to apologize." Monse told us.

"You will. But right now, you got to dance."

"Then this one's for Jamal."

"For Jamal!" We all yelled out. We smiled and danced. Changes came on and we went off. Ruby danced with Olivia and I danced with Cesar and Monse.

"You and Ruby?" Monse asked. I looked back and he smiled back at me.

"Me and Ruby." She hugged me. It started to get hot. "Im going to get a drink, ill be back." I walked to the table and opened a can of soda.

"Cesar!" I heard Ruby yell. Latrelle pulled out a gun and shot. Everyone screamed and ran off. I saw two bodies fall. I looked down, oh my god.

"Ruby! Ruby! Ruby!" Rubys mom yell as she ran to him. I dropped my soda.

"No! Mijo! Mijo!" I quickly ran to Ruby. They turned him over and there was a bullet wound on his chest. I covered my mouth.

"Mijo?"

"Call 911! Call 911!" Ms. Martinez screamed. I saw that Olivia was down. I grabbed Rubys hand, he was trying so hard to breath.

"Ruby! You're gonna be fine." I looked at him. "Ruby." I cried. "You're gonna be okay, Ruby." He held my hand as I cried.

"Okay Not my baby. Not my baby!"

"Im right here, im not leaving okay?" He just stares at me. "Ruby, amor." I whispered to his ear, sobbing. My heart broken into tiny pieces. Why him!? Why! "Stay with me Ruby." I looked into his eyes, I held his cheek. "Please." The ambulance came and took Ruby and Olivia. I sat back, looking at Ruby's blood I had on my hands. I looked at Cesar and Monse. I shook my head. Monse came up to me and hugged me. "Not Ruby, please dont take him away." I sobbed.
