     𝑷𝑬𝑹𝑯𝑨𝑷𝑺 𝑻𝑯𝑨𝑻 𝑾𝑨𝑺𝑵'𝑻 𝑬𝑽𝑬𝑵 𝑻𝑯𝑬 𝑾𝑶𝑹𝑺𝑻 𝑷𝑨𝑹𝑻, I guess it depended on who you asked. If you asked her, she would tell you that she would much rather kill than serve her other purpose. When the students of La Casa were ready, they would have a child that would soon replace them after their deaths. Obviously, they would never meet this child or even remember having them, that would be too much of a distraction. At least, that's what Señorita Millicent had always told them. Asset 18 didn't want to have children, she would rather be an assassin than a rag doll they could use for the sole purpose of breeding. She didn't want to be a mother, whether she knew about it or not, she didn't want to bring a child into a world where they would be used to do others dirty work. Her world, where there was no love or affection.

     𝑰𝑻 𝑾𝑨𝑺𝑵'𝑻 𝑼𝑵𝑻𝑰𝑳 𝑺𝑯𝑬 𝑴𝑬𝑻 𝑨𝑺𝑺𝑬𝑻 𝟏𝟑 that she ever experienced the feeling of love for the first time. Not romantically, more so sibling love. He was just like her; born and raised at La Casa with no one to love or appreciate him. Asset 13 had been made her partner on a mission to kidnap one of HYDRA's assets after La Casa broke the contract they had formed with the organisation. Diego Felipe had been taken by HYDRA the day of his 21st birthday, snatched outside of a bar in St Petersburg, Russia without any witnesses or cameras. He had simply vanished from the face of the Earth, according to his family and friends. When he arrived at La Casa, he would be going from one evil organisation to another. Only he would no longer have his identity with La Casa, a name made you human and the students of La Casa De Invierno were not humans. They were weapons. Instead, he would be referred to by his superiors as Asset 15, but the few outside of the organisation that knew of him would know him as Spitfire.

𝑻𝑶𝑮𝑬𝑻𝑯𝑬𝑹, 𝑻𝑯𝑬 𝑻𝑯𝑹𝑬𝑬 𝑴𝑨𝑫𝑬 𝑻𝑯𝑬 𝑵𝑶𝑽𝑨 𝑩𝑹𝑰𝑮𝑨𝑫𝑬; Moonlight, Spitfire and the Nighthawk. A team of deadly assassins that challenged the work of The Winter Soldier. In fact, that was their purpose, to take down The Winter Soldier. With Natalia Romanova betraying the KGB and joining S.H.I.E.L.D, he was their only competition. All thanks to Asset 15, they had all the information they needed on the man from what he ate for breakfast to the way he was trained. For three years, The Nova Brigade was trained ten times harder than any other students of La Casa; the best of the best. No breaks, no resting, only training. Their plan had to be flawless if they wanted to survive The Winter Soldier.

With The Winter Soldier and Natalia Romanova, now Natasha Romanoff, in the same place at the same time, there was no better time to strike. Their 3 years of practice finally came into play, the cat and mouse chase finally beginning.

MOONLIGHT is apart of the 𝑳𝒆𝒂𝒈𝒖𝒆 𝒐𝒇 𝒕𝒉𝒆 𝑳𝒆𝒈𝒆𝒏𝒅𝒔 as well as its own series of books ( the nova brigade series ) focusing more on Violetta, Diego and Gabriel.
You don't need to read all the books in the series to understand each individual one however they will at some point reference each other before eventually joining together in a book for Avengers: Infinity War and Avengers: Endgame. I would highly recommend that you do read each book in the series to prevent any confusion.
