PROLOGUE

Peter was running.

He felt as if he were being swallowed by a wall of fire; his thighs burning like hell - the place he was probably going to end up in.

The thought of being engulfed by the raging monster behind him was the only thing keeping him going, keeping his legs strong enough to run, keeping his heart below 200 beats per minute, and letting him go on. He was Spider-Man after all - he had a lot more stamina than a normal human being.ย

The ground stayed strong enough to carry the weight of the huge monster and Peter's body, which was indeed feeling a lot heavier than normal. For that, Peter thanked the ground. Air kept rushing into his lungs and keeping him alive, and for that, the boy thanked the air. He kept appreciating the beauty and helpfulness of nature as a distraction, but soon, Peter's thoughts took over him and he lost his way.

When he came back to reality, Peter's heart nearly leaped out of his chest. Barren ground lay before him, not a single tree existing. The darkness and guilt engulfed him before the monster could.

Where the hell was he?
