pride
"Jungkook what the fuck just happened? I was tryna... you know... I've liked her for a while..." Taehyung said as he watched Min and Lois wander through the exhibition.
Jungkook looked like he just had to kill a family member. "Why did I do that?..." he whispered, tears building at the brim of his eyes.
Taehyung looked at the defeated boy next to him and pursed his lips. "You were trying to do the right thing..."
"Did I?" Jungkook asked, tears springing from his eyes as he looked at Taehyung. "Did I do the right thing?"
Taehyung scratched the back of his head with a face that gave away that he wasn't so sure. "Do you think you'd survive it if he started dating someone else? A girl?"
Jungkook's face broke seconds after Taehyung had spoken. "No," he cried, fleeing into his best friend's arms as a wave of emotions flooded over him.
Jungkook clenched at his friend's shirt as he sobbed on his shoulder. "I love him so much... but he doesn't love me back..."
"Yes he does," Taehyung whispered, comforting Jungkook by stroking the back of his head. "It's obvious Kook. I'm sure he'll come back to you."
Jungkook held on even tighter to Taehyung. "W-what if he doesn't? What if I just let him leave with my heart still clutched in his hands?"
Taehyung took a deep breath. "Then you're gonna have to get it back somehow Kook..." he said softly. "And... I don't know... maybe give it to someone else?"
Jungkook screwed his eyes shut as if he was stuck in a nightmare. "N-no! I can't... Taehyung I won't!"
"Hey, take a deep breath and calm down okay?" Taehyung said, before pulling Jungkook off his shoulder and holding him in front of him.
Jungkook tried to do as Taehyung said though he still felt dejected. He filled up his lungs and dried his teary eyes.
If Min were to date someone else. Jungkook wouldn't know how to continue dating the other filters...
How could he live with Jimin having sex with other people as well? Even though Jungkook knew very well that Jimin wasn't one person, they all did share one body.
Jungkook had always been raised with the idea that only someone's parter was allowed to see them. To touch them. But more people? Even just one... it felt wrong. Jungkook finally understood Jim's jealousy towards Jay and Jiminie. It was bascially the same for him. Other people got to date Jungkook, and there was nothing he could really do about it because they shared the same body.
Jungkook shook his head and shielded his face in his hands. "Why is this all so fucking difficult!"
"Bro chill!" Taehyung said as he slapped his hands onto Jungkook's shoulders. "Take a step back, literally, and see how things go. Everything could still work out."
"How Tae?"
"I don't know, I'm not god."
Jungkook whined and his face twisted in agony.
"Jungkook, just go take a walk okay?" Taehyung said, squeezing the student's shoulder. "Breath the air, watch the moon, count the stars. Don't think about the possibilites because they are infinite."
He pushed the student away so he wouldn't be able to see Min and Lois walking together.
"But-"
"Go!" Taehyung said, signing the student off.
~~~
Jungkook walked with his back slouched and hands buried inside his pockets.
He tried to do as Taehyung said. Clear his mind and distract himself. But Jimin had become Jungkook's sun, and it felt as if his entire life suddenly revolved around the man. He'd neglected his college, neglected his friends and even his family. The last time he'd called his parents was months ago...
Love really was a double-edged sword.
What if one of Jimin's filters ever broke up with him? They would be free to date someone else...
Jungkook cringed at the idea.
He wiped his runny nose, his head hanging low as if his burdens were physically weighing him down.
He had to help Jimin integrate. He simply had to. He couldn't let anyone simply steal away the person he loved.
Jungkook would do anything to have Min. If the filter dated someone else, it could become a reason for him not to integrate...
But there it was again. He was only thinking about himself.
Is that so bad?
Jungkook wasn't even able to remember what his life without Jimin had been like. Boring, was all that came into mind. Boring and lonely. He never wanted to go back to that. Dating someone new... Jungkook automatically shook his head just thinking about it.
Could he find a way to pull through and smile as someone else got to treasure a different part of Jimin? No. But he had to try. Even if it would tear him apart. Maybe seeing Min happy... maybe it would sooth the pain. Maybe it would make the splitting of his soul hurt a litle less.
Jungkook looked up and realised he'd been walking in a circle.
A bullet through his chest. That's what it felt like to see them together. Lois keeping her hand on Min's shoulder as she whispered in his ear.
What was she saying? Did Min find her more attracrive than him? What did she have that he didn't? Vagina's were overrated.
Jungkook drew in a sharp breath when Min's glance met his stare. He tore his eyes away and looked at the moon instead.
He felt tears burn in his eyes again. All he wanted was to be with the one he loved. But there was no one. There were five. Five chances for his heart to get smashed into pieces.
What a dangerous situation the student had put himself in.
What an idiot he was.
Two taps on Jungkook's shoulder made the young man flinch out of his thoughts.
"Excuse me. Can we go home now?"
Jungkook gulped as he turned to face Min.
"How... how was it?" He asked with a trembling voice, pressing his lips firmly together to stop himself from breaking down.
Min shrugged. "She was exceptionally bright. She knew quite a bit about art."
Jungkook nodded, his hands still in his pockets as he stared at the ground. "So you like her?"
Min nodded immediatly. "Yes."
The student nodded again, though it became exceedingly difficult to keep his tears at bay. "Did you... think she was attractive?" He asked, paying no mind to the voice in his head that warned him he was torturing himself.
Min hummed. "She is pretty. Wouldn't you say so?"
Jungkook shrugged. The girl had some nice features, but she was a star and Min the moon in Jungkook's eyes.
The student found a foodtruck in the corner of his eyes and remembered that all Jimin had eaten today was half an icecream cone.
Shit...
"We need to get some food for you," Jungkook said before walking towards the foodtruck.
"But I want to go home. I'm not even hung-"
"You're gonna eat Min," Jungkook said, suprising himself with his stern demeanor.
Min chewed on his lips and stayed silent.
He clasped onto Jungkook's bicep and walked alongside him, but Jungkook ripped his arm away the moment he felt the boy's fingers wrap around him.
"Don't do that. You don't want people thinking things."
Min stared at Jungkook with parted lips and his eyebrows twitched into a frown, but Jungkook kept walking straight towards the foodtruck.
He ordered and waited in silence as the food got prepared.
"Jeon Jungkook, you seem agitated. Is something wrong?"
"Why would anything be wrong?!" Jungkook snapped, mentally cursing himself at how severe he sounded.
From behind Min's glasses peeked dark eyes that twinkeled in the moonshine like polished stone, hiding a well justified mistrust.
Fuck, Jungkook thought. Why does he have to look at me like that?
The filter held his tounge until their food was ready, and Jungkook grabbed the two sloppily packed hamburgers as quickly as he could.
"Jeon Jungkook~" Min sang as he tried to keep up with the student.
Jungkook paced towards a small opening that wasn't secluded from the party, but still a little private as it was removed further from the crowd.
Min sat down next to Jungkook on the soft grass. He grabbed the cheeseburger Jungkook handed him with both hands as if he were afraid to drop it.
"Thank you," he said softly, seemingly still able to feel the negative energy surrounding Jungkook.
Jungkook hated this bitter feeling in his chest. But he couldn't help it.
"Min..." he spoke softly after a while.
"Hm?"
"If you decide to get a girlfriend... I want you to know that I'll do my best to support you."
Min froze. "W-wha-"
"It'll be tough... but I can't lose you..."
Jungkook looked down and drooped as if the strings that kept him up had been snapped.
Fuck pride, fuck that girl. He couldn't care less about his dignity.
"I'll never leave you. Whenever you need me I'll be there. That's what I promised."
Jungkook sniffed, tearing grass from the soil as he suffered.
"I can be just friends..." he whispered, drying his eyes when he saw a tear drip onto the ground.
"Jeon Jungkook..."
Min set down his cheeseburger.
"What are you talking about?" He asked, reaching out to turn the student's face towards him.
Jungkook held it in, covered up the pain, and smiled.
"If you want to date someone other than me it's okay... I won't stop you. "
Min looked stunned. "I... I told you I won't date until-"
"Or after Uni," Jungkook interrupted. "When you're done with school and want to date a girl. You can do that. I'll understand."
A silence fell upon the men.
Someone from the party turned the music up a little louder and people started dancing to the beats.
Lois approached Taehyung, flirtatiously pushing his shoulder when she laughed at something funny he said.
Now she was making advances towards Taehyung?! Jungkook shouted in his head. What was this girl's deal?
"She tried to make Taehyung jealous with me," Min explained, following Jungkook's gaze.
Jungkook looked at Min, his sadness being replaced by anger within a heartbeat.
Min dismissively waved his hand. "Don't worry. She told me right away. She was kind and called me cute."
Jungkook's eye twitched. It didn't change anything. Min would get a girlfriend after university and Jungkook would have to live with it.
"I still mean what I said," he said returning his attention to balding the ground of grass. "You don't like me and I can't make you like me... so it's fine."
Another pause. Jungkook felt broken.
"I do like you," Min said, but to Jungkook it sounded like he was being thrown a bone.
"Not like I like you."
"I can't-"
"I know."
"No, Jungk-" Min swallowed his words. "I can't like you Jeon Jungkook... but that doesn't mean I don't."
"But you said you weren't gay."
"I don't know what I am."
Min exhaled a shuddering breath. "You're handsome, and sweet, and selfless. It is impossible not to fall for you..."
Jungkook didn't know how to feel about what he was hearing. Just when he'd accepted the fact that he had no chances.
"Does... does that mean we could-"
Min turned away. "No..." he said, the silence that followed stinging Jungkook's heart.
"But... I can promise myself to you." the filter whispered, tensing up as he made himself smaller.
"If you'll wait... if Jimin isn't integrated by then..."
The men looked at each other, and Jungkook's eyes skimmed across the filter's face.
"I'd wait forever..." he said softly, his words sincere as he looked the beautiful man in the eyes. "As long as I'd know you'd be mine in the end..."
"I am," Min whispered, his cheeks turning pink as Jungkook's eyes got dragged down to his lips.
Jungkook neared the filter, shortening the distance between them. "You are?" He asked at a sultry tone.
Min hummed though he looked terrified, conflicted between backing off and letting go.
"If... if you can be friends first..."
Jungkook catched Min's lips with his own, sensually sucking on them to savour the taste. His eyes nearly rolled back in their sockets when Min kissed him back, and he was allowed to slip his tounge into the filter's warm mouth. He held onto Min's head to keep the boy close and felt like he was falling into a pool of clouds as their mouths collided with passion.
Min moved to straddle Jungkook, wrapping his arms around the student as he lost himself into the kiss.
Jungkook felt him smoothly grind against his bulge again and he grabbed the boy's waist to keep the pleasent friction going, his hand escaping underneath the filter's T-shirt to grip at the delicate skin underneath.
Min moaned ever so softly into the kiss each time their lips lost contact for a second, and they'd fall back into each other as if there was a magnetic force keeping them together.
When Jungkook pulled away to let them breath the men panted, and there was no denying the electricity that sparked through their bodies.
"Friends..." Jungkook breathed with a wide smile, gazing deep into Min's widened pupils.
"I can do that..." he said, seconds away from hungrily smashing his lips against Min's. "No problem."
