Summary : It's 2019 and YG has announced plans toย  debut a new girlgroup, the Citrus girls and two more trainees make the lineup . As they hold trials to determine positions within the group, ego gets in the way and the girls friendship suffers a heavy blow.

Byeol was proud of Yoonah. No longer was she the little girl who's limbs seemed to big for her body she came to YG as . Looking at the 18 year old now, she could really not believeย  how good she had gotten.ย  She had done so well, she had worked so hard that it hurt , it hurt to envy her soo much Byeol's skin burned.

Byeol just couldn't stopย  it. Her whole life, she was supposed to be the main dancer. Every sleepless night, every drop of sweat had been so she would be the main dancer. After years and years of expecting , the position had become a part of Byeol's identity.
Watching Yoonah dance, with her powerful yet graceful moves and neverending energy, was like slowly watching her entire future fall apart.
" They will put you on the back " Byeol's own voice whispered wickedly against her ear.

An ugly feeling of regret rushed through her veins , panicking as Yoonah filled the room with passionate movements . Byeol regretted taking the girl in, she regretted whistling at the end of Yoonah's performances and telling her how great she had been. VShe regretted sharing her cheetos and holding Yoonah's hand while endlessly redoing the steps. As soon as those thoughts entered Byeol's mind she repelled them. She loved Yoonah too much to pretend like she wouldn't do it all again. But there was something so fundamentally frightening about not being the main dancer, something fundamentally unfair.
It just couldn't happen, Byeol couldn't let it hapen.

- Was it good, unnie? - Yoonah asked, out of breath and red faced as her routine ended.

- You're better than me - Byeol let slip, her tone cold and detached.

- Hahah, shut up Byeollie! - Yoonah gave her elder a playful slap in the arm, a sweetness in her voice telling the compliment meant a lot to her.

The younger girl sat beside Byeol and resting her head on Byeol's shoulder.
- Thank you unnie. I would never have a chance at main dancer if it weren't for you

- Yeahย  - Byeol responded weakly, her mind was absent to wrapped up in her imminent panic. She was done, she was fucked, years of training down the drain like that.
- Go shower and eat something, you've been practicing the whole day - Byeol's motherly instincts persisted even as the older girl's world fell apart.

- That's a good idea - Yoonah smelled her armpit and giggled before she shot out of the door.

Byeol really didn't know how long she sat there, blankly looking at the practice room's mirror. It was like time had stopped but her heart was beating 200 km an hour. This can't happen, she could see it all, Yoonah the golden maknae and her the Mediocre Ten Year Trainee, this can't happen, this can't happen, she would sing the "hey yah"s in songs and people would look back at her trainee showcases wondering what the hell happened to YG's hound.

Amidst having a silent anxiety crisis, Byeol didn't notice Bora-sunbaenim rushing down the practice room in her stiletto boots.

- Kang! - Bora snapped her fingers in Byeol's face.
Byeol's eyes widened like they were going to pop out.

- Yeah ?- Byeol asked still not fully in this plain

- The schedule changed, the main dancer trials are going to be on the third floor idol practice room. They're also in 30 fucking minutes cause YG is great at planning ahead and keeping their employees well informed . Spread the word cause I need to fucking practice and already had to chase out Areum and Shin.

Oh.
The schedule changed.

- Her name is Amora - Was all Byeol managed to say, her mind still running in a panicked frenzy.

- Sure - Bora rolled her eyes and smiled like she could murder her. Beyonce's " Partition " boomed through the amplifiers and on top of Byeol's mind, the room got entirely too loud.

She burst out the door panting, her own thoughts pressing down her lungs, bruising her heart. She couldn't do it, she couldn't do it, but it was so easy. All she had to do was pretend Bora didn't tell her anything and she would win the trial, be the main dancer. The moment the terrible idea came into Byeol's mind it felt like she could finally breath again, like the world had tipped and everything fell into place. But it also felt she had feed a vermine that had been living in the back of her head for many years, whispering about how cruel and wicked Byeol was. It felt like she had finally become what she always knew she was, what she always tried to fight.

" Being cruel is better than being a failure " The vermine spit against Byeol's ear

I can't be a failure
Cruel it is then.
