Sherry's POV

As I was snuggled up underneath my comforterโ€”sleeping peacefully in my rather large foam bed, I wake up to the sound of my alarm going off beside me. All About The Bass by Megan Trainorย  resonating audibly through out the whole bedroom. I opened my eyes and groaned loudly, as I groggily reached over. Grabbing ahold of my phone that's sitting on top of my end table, and turning my alarm off.

I sat up on my bed, with my back leaned against the backboard of my bed. Yawning and stretching my limbs out, then I noticed that Jake's side of the bed was completely empty. The bedsheets were ruffled, and part of the comforter was partially drawn back. Notifying me that he had gotten up earlier before me.

'Where could he be?' I thought to myself, as I unlocked my phone. As I checked the time, I see that I have a notification. A text message from the missing ginger. I clicked on the notificationโ€”opening it up. Checking his recent message.

8:23am

Morning babe. I got up early and decided to head to the store to buy us some groceries, since we forgot to do so yesterday. See you soon super girl. ๐Ÿ˜‰
โ€”โ€”โ€”โ€”โ€”โ€”โ€”โ€”โ€”โ€”โ€”โ€”โ€”โ€”โ€”

I let out a small chuckle. I texted him back then placed my phone inside my pocket and got up off the bed. After I made the bed and changed into a light blue sweater and a pair of dark blue skinny jeans, I headed downstairs and straight into the kitchen to make a pot of coffee.

After filling the coffee pot with coffee grounds and water, I pressed the start button. Causing the machine to start brewing a fresh full pot of the bittersweet drink. I hummed lightly to myself. Tapping my fingers against the polished marble countertop, as I waited patiently for the machine to be done.

When it was done, I grabbed a coffee mug out of my cupboard and the creamer from the fridge. I grasped ahold of the full coffee pot by the handleโ€”pouring some of the hot beverage into my small mug, then I added creamer to it. Once I got my coffee, I headed into the living room and sit down on the couch, as I took a small sip from my cup.

I grabbed the remote off the coffee tableโ€”turning the television on. Switching the channel to the NTS news station. While I was watching them finish up their news story on the U.S's nationwide unemployment rate, they switched to another story straightaway. One that would leave me on the edge of my seat.

"Good morning everyone, we have breaking news about another deadly bioterror attack that happened overnight last night in western Washington, in the metropolis of Seattle. The first signs of the viral outbreak occurring within the city started between six and seven o'clock in the evening, when the police and city officials were receiving numerous reports of cannibalistic-like attacks in the northern and western regions in the city. It wasn't confirmed until around 7:20pm last night by the chief of police himself, that it is indeed another bioterror outbreak. So far, tens of thousands of people have been killed. Several have been reporting missing, those numbers are continuously on the rise, and the terrorist responsible for this dilemma is still unknown at this time. In response to the alarming announcement, the B.S.A.A. along with the U.S. government have quarantined and blocked the entire city off the to surrounding towns to suppress the outbreakโ€”preventing it from spreading even further. All residents that neighbor the quarantine zone have been ordered to leave their homes and to evacuate to safer accommodations for the time being. Multiple search-and-rescue operations are being lead by the bioterrorism security assessment alliance and the non-government organization, TerraSave. All have been going underway since last night to extricate survivors in the area to safety, while eliminating the biological peril at the same time. What we're about to show you up next is some gruesome footage that was taken last night by one of the thousands of victims rescued last night during the of the viral outbreak. Viewers eighteen and younger are advised to look away." Then they show a video of a young man being attacked by one of the infected inside a restaurant.

The sickly man chomping down the poor guy's neck, with blood gushing out of his bite wounds. Pouring onto his clothing and the carpet underneath him, while everyone else was standing up from their seats. Watching in absolute horror. I was about to change the channel, as I beginning to feel sick to my stomach, when I spotted a familiar figure in the background. 'Is that who I think it is?'

I set my coffee down and used the remote to pause it. I sit up from the couchโ€”inching closer towards the television, as I laid my eyes upon a particular red-head. Standing next Moira and an unfamiliar blonde girl. 'It is Claire! Why didn't I recognize her sooner!? I have to call her and find out if she's alright.'

I started to panic while I dug my phone out of pocketโ€”dialing Claire's number right away. As I held the cellular device against my ear and paced in circles around the living room, waiting for her to pick up, I hear the front door being opened. I glanced overโ€”seeing Jake come in and close the door behind him. With a couple full grocery and brown paper bags in hand. He instantly noticed my worried expression.

"Sherry, what's wrong?" Jake asked me with a concerned tone, as he placed the bags onto the kitchen counter then immediately walked over to me.

When it went straight to voicemail, I dialed her number on my phone and try calling her again. "It's Claire, I can't get ahold of her and I'm worried that something bad could've happened to her."

"Are you sure babe? Maybe she misplaced her phone last night or her cell battery could've died."

I instantly pointed over at the television screen. Jake shifted his gaze from me over towards the paused news broadcast. His expression faltered slightly while he read the news headline, and then spotted the younger Redfield sibling standing in the background of the video. Whatever doubts he had previously about the red-head, were instantly tossed out the window at that point.

"Another attack?"

"Yes, last night in Seattle. They've managed to contain it, but I need to know if Claire got out and that she's okay."

"Damn, fucking terrorism is lucrative," Jake muttered under his breath, as my second call went straight to voicemail again.

After I tried to call Claire a couple more times, I decided to switch tactics. I dialed Leon's numberโ€”holding the device against my ear. Within a minute, Leon instantly picked up.

"Hello?"

"Leon it's me, Sherry," I clarified.

"Sherry, how are youโ€“"

"Leon, now's not the time for pleasantries," I cut him offโ€”getting straight to the point. "Is Claire alright? I can't reach her at all."

I heard Leon slightly gulp on the other lineโ€”indicating that something was definitely wrong. "I'm afraid that we don't knowโ€“"

"Don't know!? What do you mean you don't know?!?" I questioned him, raising my voice.

"Sherry, we don't actually know because she's been missing since last night! And right now I'm fucking stressed and worried as hell. Because I'm standing next to her daughter's hospital bed right now, as she's dying, and there's not a damn thing that I can do right now to even help her," Leon blurted out all at once. Immediately making me fall silent, while I'm at a loss of words.

"What...?" 'How can that be? I thought Levi was her only child.'

Jake's POV

Sherry pulled the device away from my ear, immediately putting it on speaker for me to hear as well.

"Claire has a daughter...?" Sherry inquiried. 'Great, another Redfield off the old chopping block.' I thought to myself.

Leon paused for a moment and took a deep breath, before replying,

"Yes, her name is Laura. She's in the hospital because of the severe injuries she sustained last night while we were escaping from Seattle. Laura lost a lot of blood and has been in a coma since last night. She desperately needs a blood transfusion and the only one who can help her current condition now is Jake. He's the only person we know who has the exact same blood type as her, but that's not all."

"What else can you possibly tell us about this Laura girl that we need to know, Hero?"

We heard Leon groan vaguely for a moment on the other line. "Jake, wether you believe me or not, Laura is your little sister. Your half-sister."

Instantaneously, the living room fell silent again, as Sherry and I were once again speechless. Finally realizing the graveness of the situation. I tensed up straightaway, as my body became rigid and motionless. 'I... I have a sister...? Right now she's across the country in the hospital. On the verge of dying, and only my blood can be used to help save her.' I thought to myself. 'So my mother wasn't the only woman my old man screwed... Literally. . . Jesus christ...'

I grabbed the phone out of Sherry's handโ€”holding it up to myself. "Leon, where are you guys right now?"

"We're at Overlake Medical Center in Bellevue, Washington. It's right outside of Seattle," Leon answered.

Leon's POV

"Got it, we'll be there as soon as we can. Keep us posted about her condition," Jake said, before hanging up.

I glanced back at Laura, as she laid practically lifeless on her hospital bed. Appearing devoid of vitality and spirit. With all kinds of tubes and cords from her life support that's attached in various spots all over her frail body. Which happens to be the only things keeping her alive right now.

My hand involuntarily tightened around my phone, as my anger from yesterday began to escalate again. 'I'm gonna find the bastard behind all of this and make him pay... If it's the last thing I do.' I thought to himself.

As I was about to put my phone away, it began to vibrate continuously in my hand. Someone's calling me. The instant I checked it, I see that I'm getting an incoming phone call from a blocked number. Already knowing who it might be, I answered it and held the device to my ear.

"Morning handsome."

"What do you want, Ada?" I asked her, using a slightly gruff tone of voice.

"I'm letting you know that I'll be swinging by in about half an hour or so to pick up Lily," Ada replied. In that instant, I remembered briefly about Ada having a daughter. It definitely surprised me when I found out about Lily, since Ada doesn't seem like the type to settle down. I'm still having a hard time wrapping my head around that.

I let out a sighโ€”knowing that couldn't be the only reason why. "That's not all, is it."

"No, there's also something I need to discuss with you in private. Pertaining to yesterday, and to the rumors that have been flying around about Tricell's resurrection. Information that would you find useful. See you soon, Leon," Ada said, before hanging up on me.
