Chapter 30 - Part 3

Leon's POV
Right after leaving Claire and Laura behind in the passenger train cart, Tyler and I proceeded cautiously forward into the next cab—with our guns in hand. We immediately begin investigating and checking each cab on the train, one at a time. Looking for anything out of the ordinary that might've caused the train to almost slide off the train tracks. As we were silently inspecting the third-to-last cab, I spoke up.
"You love her, don't you?"
Tyler wasn't at all taken aback by my question, he just simply glanced at me and replied,
"Of course I do, she's my best friend."
"And girlfriend," I added.
"How did you–"
"It's pretty obvious Tyler," I cut him off, as I turn around to face Tyler. "My only concern, however. Is that if you even dare to break my little girl's heart, you're gonna get more than a major ass kicking young man."
Tyler quietly gulped for a moment, as we continued with our investigation. After we finished checking the rest of the cab, we started heading to the back of the area—where the door to the next cab is located. All of a sudden, the sounds of banging erupted from the other side of the door. One by one, immense dents of all shapes and sizes formed onto the metal door with each and every bash and strike.
Tyler and I began cautiously backing away from the door—our guns raised up and aimed—as the banging on the door continued and increased drastically. After a few more hits, the door flew open—the hinges easily disconnecting and breaking off, as the door crashed onto the floor. Revealing nothing more than an enraged Albert Wesker. His abnormally slitted cat eyes glowed a bright and intense shade of red, as he was standing right in front of the doorway—clenching and unclenching both of his hands.
"Well, look who it is... It's Johnny Bravo," Tyler joked, as he had his shotgun trained on Wesker.
"Stand aside," Wesker demanded in an irritated tone. "and I might let the two of you live."
"Like hell we will," I spat at him, as I cocked my handgun.
Wesker flexed his fingers and popped his knuckles.
"I tried doing this the easy way, but it appears that the both of you would rather do this the hard way. Not that I have a problem with it," Wesker stated, as he growled and charged right at us at full speed.
Laura's POV
While Leon and Tyler were searching one cab at a time, Mom and I were sitting by side on the bench, as the train was moving along the underground railroad track. There was nothing but silence between us.
'I need to ask Mom the big question. I need to know why. Why she put me for adoption all those years ago. It's kinda obvious though, but I need to hear it from her. But is now the right time to question her?' I contemplated with myself as I adjusted myself on the bench. 'It's now or never.' I sigh, as I gathered up my courage.
"Mom." She shifted her gaze over to me, as I peer back at her.
"What is it Laura?"
"I have a question," I started off. "Why did you give me away in the first place? Why did you put me up for adoption all those years ago?"
Remorse clouded her features, as Mom turned away for a moment. Taking a deep breath, before directing her gaze back me. With a sincere look on her face.
"Should've known that this was coming," Mom mumbled to herself, as she let out a small chuckle. "Laura. You know that I do love you and will always care about you, right?" I nod my head, giving her my full attention. "Ever since I was a young girl, I always wanted to be a mother when I grew up. Not a doctor, secretary, news anchor, or a waitress. Just a mother. Chris thought that I was crazy back then to have a dream like that. To find love, get married, and start a family of my own. Having a little one to care for, to love, and to cherish. Watching my child change over the years, mature, and grow up into a happy and successful adult as time passed by. You were my dream Laura. Both you and Alex–"
Mom was immediately cut off by the sounds of gunshots ringing out in the distance. Catching our attention right away. Mom and I stood up from the bench at the same time, just as the train stopped.
"We gotta go. Now!" Mom said, as I took out my handgun and while she cocked her assault rifle.
"What about Leon and Tyler–"
"We have to keep going Laura. They would do the same if they were in our shoes right now," Mom cut me off as she opened up the train door. "Let's go!"
***3rd POV***
Claire and Laura stepped out of the train cart—arriving in an abandoned underground train station where the train had stopped at. The station itself had been abandoned for some time now. All of the lights inside the station were broken, so they had to turn on the small flashlights at the ends of our guns so the women could see their surroundings.
Getting a closer look of the station, everything—including the ceiling and the piping—were unconditionally covered in grime, filth, and spider webs all over the place. As Laura glanced to her right, she spotted a staircase—that leads right back up to Seattle.
"There's a way out over there. Come on, we have to hurry."
While the two woman were running up the set of stairs—escaping back up to ground level from the station, Wesker had just finished beating the absolute shit out of Leon. Which indeed helped relieve some of the stress for the tall blonde, caused by this wild goose chase. All while Tyler laid unconscious against the wall close to them. Practically covered with various bleeding cuts and discoloring bruises, along with a visible bleeding broken leg. Wesker dropped a beaten and bruised Leon onto the ground—who groaned and winced in pain. Fighting like hell with himself to stay awake, but was slowly but surely losing the battle.
'It would certainly be a pleasure to finish off these two nuisances permanently, but unfortunately time isn't on my side today. And I have unfinished business to attend to.' Wesker thought to himself, as he stepped over the injured D.S.O. agent—while proceeding onwards through the train cart, but stopped as he felt Leon grab onto his ankle.
Wesker turned around—glancing down at the younger blonde before him, as Leon was doing whatever he could to buy Claire and Laura more time to get away. Wesker frowned with disapproval—before yanking his leg out of Leon's grasp, and kicking him swiftly in the face. Knocking out the man unconscious.
While Wesker was exiting the train, Claire and Laura make it to the top of the staircase. Leading them back up to the abandoned streets of Seattle, as they spot a surrounding group of infected. Who notice their presence straightaway, and began advancing towards the two armed women.
As Claire and Laura were about to fire at the incoming horde, they hear something else coming closer as well. The sound of helicopter propellers. Looking up at the sky, the both of them see an equipped standard B.S.A.A helicopter approaching them. The propellers from the copter create a massive gust of wind, blowing all towards Claire and Laura's direction. Causing their hair to flow in the river of breeze. Both of them attempt to shield their eyes with their hands, when bright lights are flashed upon each of them.
"Guys! Take cover!" Laura heard Rebecca say over the comm link.
"Mom, we need to move. Now!"
Without delay, Claire and Laura rush towards a nearby alley way, and take cover behind the thick brick walls—right as the helicopter began firing at all of the B.O.W.s. Within a matter of seconds, all of the hostiles are taken out just like that. Leaving behind a bloody mess of scattered body parts and debris with it.
Cautiously, they both come out of the alley, as soon as the helicopter has stopped firing. Peering up in the sky at the B.S.A.A. chopper—Claire and Laura see Rebecca, Moira, Emile, Lily, and couple other B.S.A.A. soldiers all inside the helicopter that's looming about forty feet above them. Laura lets out a sigh of relief the instant she spots all of her friends inside the chopper.
"Laura! Claire! You guys are alright?!" Moira shouted out at them in a relieved tone. Claire smiled up at them in response.
"When we tried getting into contact with you guys, we thought that something bad happened to all of you," Rebecca said.
"Laura, you have no idea how much we were actually worried about you! It's good to see that you and your mom are okay–" Emile was cut off by the sounds of vicious growling, while Wesker was calling out to Laura from within the underground train station in an infuriated tone. And oh boy was he pissed...
"You can't hide forever Laura!"
"Shit! He's gonna find us," Laura said in a worried tone, as she began to quiver in fear.
"Unless we keep moving Laura," Claire stated, as she peered over at the towering skyscraper right next to them, then glance back at the chopper.
"Guys, can you meet us at the top of this skyscraper next to us?" Claire asked them, as she pointed right at the building.
"Sure thing Claire," Rebecca replied, as she ordered the helicopter pilot to land on top of the skyscraper next to them.
While helicopters proceeded towards the helipad, that's perched on top of the ten story building. Claire and Laura hustled inside the premise, just as Wesker arrived at the top of the staircase. Staring at the two women, as they headed inside the building.
While Wesker continued to chase after younger Redfield sibling and his daughter in the biohazard zone, back in the underground research facility beneath them. Ada and Steve were making headway for the train station, meanwhile having to carry two injured B.S.A.A. agents and their weaponry along with them through the deserted facility. The complex being just minutes away from detonating.
Ada was lugging Piers and his rifle along her side, with his arm draped around her shoulder to help support him. While Steve was handling Chris, since he knew that his partner wouldn't be able to carry the bulky man all by herself.
Eventually, they all reach the train station—finding it empty, with one of three trains missing. The four continue forward towards one of the remaining trains. Once inside, Steve and Ada set Piers and Chris and their weapons carefully down onto the metal ground against the wall.
"Ada, I'll go start up the train. While you take care of them," Steve said as he handed Ada two full cans of first aid spray, then dug out his spare black key out of his pocket.
"I'm on it," Ada replied.
While Steve left to go start up the train, Ada stayed behind in the cab to tend to both Chris and Piers's injuries. She slowly kneeled down beside the two B.S.A.A. agents—setting one of the cans of first aid spray onto the ground. After Ada opened up the other can she was holding—she shaked it up a couple times, before applying it with care to the cut on Piers's cheek and his forehead. Piers slighted flinched in his sleep—groaning as the spray came into contact with his skin. Within a matter of seconds, the cut on his cheek and the bruises on his forehead healed completely—vanishing with a single trace.
Right after Ada finished tending to Piers's wounds, Steve finally started up the train by pushing the main lever all the way forward. Causing the whole train to power on entirely and begin leaving the station. Right after the train left the facility, it was fifteen seconds away from blowing up.

The moment the timer reached zero, the entire Umbrella facility exploded. All of it crumbling into pieces down within the earth—sending an earthquake-like wave throughout the entire region.
Causing the whole land to shake and rumble due to the aftershock, including the train. The earthquake-like wave instantaneously subsided, making everything within the region stop shaking.
As the train ceased shaking, Steve turned on the autopilot mode on the train then left the control room—rejoining the group in the other locomotive cab. Ada discarded the empty spray can. Grabbing ahold of the other one she had set down on the floor. Shaking it up like she did with the previous one. As Ada was about to apply the first aid spray to Chris's wounds, he had woke and instantly opened his eyes. Grabbing his handgun out of his side holster with his left hand—aiming it directly at Ada's face. Ada didn't flinch at all, nor did her expression change, as she kept her eyes on Chris. Steve raised his own rifle at Chris, but Ada signaled him to lower his rifle. Without hesitation, Steve lowered his weapon. While watching the scene in front of him.
"Is that anyway to treat a lady Chris? This is the second time today I saved your ass, and this is how you repay me—without even saying 'thank you'?" Ada questioned the older Redfield sibling.
Chris glanced over towards his partner, then shifted his gaze back at Ada—eyeing the first aid spray in her hand. He lowered his gun—placing it back in his holster.
"Ugh..." Chris groaned as he rubbed his head with left hand—feeling the start of a migraine forming.
"So, are you gonna act mature for once and let me treat your arm, or do you wanna do it yourself?" Ada asked the B.S.A.A. agent.
Hesitantly, Chris takes up Ada's generous offer and lets her treat his wounds. Since in he wasn't in his best condition due to his latest battle with Wesker.
"Where are we...? How did Piers and I get here?" Chris reluctantly asked Ada, as she was slowly rolling up his right sleeve. She wasn't the one who answered.
"While we were escaping the facility, Ada and I found you two beaten to a bloody pulp and unconscious on the floor along the way. Knowing that Claire and Laura would have a major fit if anything happened to the two of you—especially you Chris—so we decided bring you guys along with us before the facility detonated," Steve answered.
Chris peered over at Steve, who was standing in the corner. His back leaning against the wall, with his arms folded in front of his chest, and his legs casually crossed. The young man looked familiar to him, but Chris couldn't put his finger on it.
"Who are you? Have we met?" Chris asked the ginger.
"You don't remember me?" Steve questioned Chris, before letting out a small chuckle. "Of course you wouldn't, you thought I died seventeen years ago back at the Umbrella Antarctic base."
Right at the moment, Chris recognized him right away. Very shocked to find the man still breathing and standing before him—especially right now.
"Steve– Ow! Hey, careful!" Chris growled at Ada, as he winced in pain.
"Hold still, you big baby," Ada replied back, as she finished rolling up his sleeve. Allowing a better look at his injury. It's a miracle that she hasn't lost her patience with older Redfield sibling yet. Particularly because of his prominent stubbornness.
"Ahhh... So you do remember me. Long time no see Chris."
"You too Steve. Hold on... you saw Claire didn't you!? Did you see her escape while you were in the facility???" Chris immediately asked Steve.
"Chris, slow down. Of I did. I'm the one who helped her gain access the train station—allowing her and her group to leave the facility in the first place. Don't worry, they should've reached the underground subway station and made back up to the city by now," Steve reassured Chris.
"That's a huge relief." Chris sighed. "But how the hell are you even alive right now– Ow!" Chris was cut off by Ada gently pulling off his combat glove off his right hand.
"Sorry," Ada mumbled to him, as she managed to completely take off Chris's glove.
"Jeez Chris, looks like you gotten the shit beaten out of you, and pretty badly as well," Steve remarked, as Ada began spraying his whole arm with the can of first aid spray.
"Well, that's what I get for underestimating a psycho I haven't seen or faced for about six years," Chris said nonchalantly. The both of them instantly understood instantly who he was referring to.
"There, all done," Ada said, as she finished up spraying his arm and handed Chris his black combat glove back. Instantaneously, the fractured bones with him arm and hand mended and molded back together into piece. As the bruises all over his arm disappeared—causing his skin to return to its natural light tan color.
"How you feeling?" Steve inquired, as Chris moved his arm around and reflexed his fingers.
"Never better," He answered, as he fixed his sleeve then put his glove back on.
As Chris grabbed his rifle and stood up off the ground, the train stopped at the underground subway station behind another train that's been there for awhile now. Piers began to stir awake from his slumber, as he groaned while his eyes slowly fluttered open. Chris was the first one to notice right away.
"Captain?"
"How you feeling Piers?" Chris asked his partner, as he helped him up off the ground and handed him his rifle.
"I'm okay for now." Piers glanced around, aware that they're longer in the facility.
"Chris, where the hell are we? And who's he?" Piers asked, as he pointed over at Steve.
"Right now, there's not enough time to catch you up with the details. We find Claire, Laura, Tyler, and Leon so we can get the hell out of here."
"Okay, let's go then."
As the group exited the train—with their guns in hand—they dashed through the subway station. Glancing over at the other train as they passing by it.
"Piers..." He halted in his tracks, the moment he heard a familiar voice call out for him. Piers heard it come from inside the other train. He knew exactly who it was. Piers changed course and began walking towards the train.
Once he was inside the train, Piers instantly spotted Leon unconscious on the ground, and his little brother Tyler leaning up against the wall with a broken and bleeding leg.
"Guys! In here!" Piers called out to the group, as he sprinted over and kneeled down onto the ground beside his injured brother to tend to his wound. As the rest of the group rushed inside the train, both Chris and Ada went over to Leon—while Steve joined Piers with his little brother.
"Tyler what the heck happened here?" Piers asked his little brother with a worried tone. While Chris and Ada were helping Leon up off the ground.
"While we were heading for the rendezvous point, Wesker managed to catch up to us without even realizing it. Leon and I fought off for awhile to prevent him from reaching either Laura or her mother. We put up a good fight—but in the end—Wesker was able to deftly take us down. He went after them as soon as we were down," Tyler explained to them. "Piers, we need to hurry and go after them– Ow!" He was cut off by Piers examining his leg.
"I know Tyler, but we just can't leave you two here. Especially since you both are hurt pretty badly," Piers told his brother.
"Here, use these." Steve tossed a can of first aid spray to Piers and one to Chris.
"Thanks Steve," Chris thanked him.
Piers opened up the can—spraying Tyler's leg with it. Meanwhile, Ada was supporting Leon as Chris sprayed his bruises and open wounds. It doesn't take for very long for their open wounds to close up and their bruises to completely heal.
"Alright, we don't have much time. Let's hurry and find Claire and Laura, before Wesker gets his hands on them," Leon said they all began leaving the station and heading up the staircase to get back up to ground level.
Laura's POV
-(Start song here)-
As we made our way inside the building, the ground and everything all around us began to shake and rumble. Causing everything to toss and turn and crash onto the shaking ground. Creating a huge mess throughout the entire building. A few minutes later, it stopped.
"What the heck was that!? An earthquake?"
"I have no clue Laura. But we need to keep moving," Mom stated.
"Right."
Mom and I dash through the main lobby area—stopping at two metal doors that leads to a colossal staircase that connects to each floor of the building. As we opened them and head inside, Mom grabbed a large metal pole off the ground and jammed it between the handles and the doors. Bolting it shut.
"That should hold him off for now. Come on Laura," Mom said, as we started darting up the never-ending set of stairs.
After we raced past the last eight floors, we hear the metal doors at the very bottom burst open, as I collapsed onto my knees and began hyperventilating from pure exhaustion. Black dots started to pop up and cloud my vision, as fatigue and pain from my wounds plagued my entire body. Mom halted in her steps and turned around, facing me. She rushed over to me and helped me up. Taking one of my arms and wrapping it over her shoulder.
"Laura, are you okay?"
"I... can't take another... step. It hurts... it hurts so bad," I say as I continue to hyperventilate.
"I know sweetheart." Mom opened the door to the ninth floor—closing it behind us as we stepped inside.
Mom and I hid far from the door in a nearby hallway out of view. With our backs leaned against the wall, as we held our breath momentarily. Seconds later, the both of us hear my father halt by the door, not doubt looking through the small window for any signs of our presence. Once we hear him move on, Mom and I both sigh quietly in relief.
We venture deeper down the hallway and end up hiding in a nearby fancy office for the time being. Mom sat me down in one of the chairs, while she went to grab a green herb off on top of a filing cabinet.
"Mom, who's Alex?"
"Please Laura, not now." Mom kneeled down in front of me, as she pulled the plant by its roots out of the small pot.
"Mom, I need to know. Am I not the only one? Do I have a sister?" I pleaded, as she began unwrapping the blood-stained bandages around my thighs.
Mom glanced up at me, as she sighed. "Yes, you do Laura. I wanted to wait until later to tell about Alex, but you have a right to know." Once she finished undoing the bloody bandages, Mom grabbed the herb and started rubbing it together between her hands. Condensing the plant into a small clear cream of some sort, and then turned into mist as she applied it with care over my wounds. Allowing them to heal right on the spot. "Alex is your older sister, your twin sister," Mom told me.
Dad barged into the room, swinging the door open so hard that it practically fell off the hinges. His eyes were glowing bright red with rage, as he growled.
"Found you!"
Mom and I stand back up at the same time, as we took out our guns and began firing at him. Dad dashed and dodged the stream of bullets inhumanely—reaching the both of us within a matter of seconds. He grabbed Mom by her rifle, elbowing her in the face then performing a roundhouse kick on her. Sending Mom flying all the way across the room, her back hit the wall harshly, as she fell onto the ground.
The moment Mom was out, Dad turned his attention towards me. I pull the trigger of my handgun, and it only clicked. 'Shit! I'm out of ammo,' I thought as I tossed it aside. Wesker threw a punch at me, only to miss. I duck and roll to the side just in time, as I take out my S.T.A.R.S. knife out of its sheath. I attempt to stab him in the arm, which was indeed a big mistake. Wesker grasped ahold of my arm—twisting it behind my back to a very painful degree. Making me drop my knife onto the ground, as I groaned in pain.
"What the hell is wrong with you! What do you even hope to accomplish here you asshole!?" I yelled at him. Wesker wasn't fazed one bit.
"To ensure your safety and well-being Laura. Sometimes a father needs to make certain sacrifices in order keep his child safe. No matter the cost." He started digging something out of his trench coat, while I struggled against his iron grip. "I don't expect you to understand what I mean until you're older, but what I am doing is what's best for you." I notice Mom off to the side, steadily getting back up off the ground—watching us without Wesker even noticing. "I know I seem like the bad guy here Laura, but I'm not. I promise. I am doing everything within my power to protect both you and your sister Alex." He pulled the needle out of his trench coat, while Mom quietly inched closer and closer to us. "I'm truly sorry about this Laura, but I'm doing what needs to be done." Wesker removed the cap off the needle—directing it towards my arm.
"No!!!" The moment the needle was about to pierce my skin, Mom tackled Wesker out the glass window. The window shattered into a million broken pieces, as they both went flying out the window. Wesker let go of my wrist, to prevent me from going out the window with them. I fall back onto the ground away from the window, as both my mother and my father disappeared from my sight.
I immediately got back up—rushing over towards the window. As I glanced around everywhere from top to bottom, I couldn't find them. They were both gone.
"Mom!!! Dad!!! No... No!!!"
