Chris's POV
Jessica winked at me, before turning around and disappearing from the window. "Parker! Piers! Scott! Jackson! She's getting away, go after her!!! The rest of you, stay with me," I ordered them straightaway, as I was still kneeling down on the ground beside Flint.
"Okay, come on guys! Hurry!" Piers affirmed as he, Parker, Jackson, and Scott went inside the building to go after Jessica.
"Captain..." Flint steadily sat up. His entire body spasming and convulsing in pain.
I tried to help him while he was in so much pain, only to get pushed back by him.
"Get away from me...!" Flint shouted, as he shoved me away from him. To prevent me from getting close too to him
Flint's skin was starting turning a rotten shade of grey, covered in a thin layer of perspiration as his veins suddenly dilated and turned from blue to reddish-black. His eyes were becoming entirely blood red, as he began coughing up a lot of blood onto the ground and all over his bulletproof vest. Clutching his stomach in agonizing pain.
"Shoot me... I-I don't want to become one of those things... Please..." Flint pleaded, as he weakly glanced up at all of us. Tears of blood pouring down his face.
I took a deep breath and stood up, nodding at Flint. I pulled out my Nine-Oh-Nine pistol, reluctantly aiming it at Flint. For a second, I was hesitant to shoot him, as flashback of my fallen comrades flooded through my mind. Like Marco, Finn, Kirk, and others I've lost throughout my life on the battlefield. Right now I can't think about them, or else I won't focus of my mission now. I can't let those memories haunt me for the rest of my life. I pushed those thoughts asideβpulling back the hammer of my gun.
"Thank you..." Flint muttered his final words to me, right as I pulled the trigger.
After I shot him, his body fell limp to the ground. Blood began spilling out of the bullet hole in his head and seeping onto the ground beneath him.
Piers's POV
"Parker! Piers! Scott! Jackson! She's getting away, go after her!!! The rest of you stay with me." Chris ordered all of us.
"Okay, come on guys! Hurry!" I shouted at Scott and Jackson, as they lagged behind Parker and I.
The four of us rushed into the colossal, elaborate hotel. "Alright, Parker and I'll go after her. When Parker and I lead her down the main staircase, you two will cut her off there. Got it?" I explained the plan to the guys. They all nodded quickly in response.
"Okay, Parker let's go!" The two of us began sprinting up main set of stairs, while Scott and Jackson got into position at the bottom of the staircase.
***
After searching for Jessica within the hotel, Parker and I managed to track her down on the third floor. The two of us began chasing after her, through a B.O.W. infested hallway. Pushing and shooting our way through them.
Jessica was wearing a fancy grey sun hat, a pair of big silver hoop earrings, a dark purple double breasted pea coat over her black turtleneck dress that went down to her mid thighs, black leggings, and a pair of black high heeled boots.
As she was dashing through the hallway, Jessica was shooting at us and the B.O.W.s in her way, with a 45 ACP semi-automatic handgun. Using the other hand to hold onto the handle of a high tech metal briefcase.
When we chased her down the main staircase, Jackson and Scott came out of their hiding places. Aiming their assault rifles at Jessicaβprompting her to halt in front of them. She turned around, as Parker and I caught up to her. Parker aimed his Famas rifle at Jessica, while I had my MP-AF out and trained entirely on her. We got her now.
"Jessica, give up it's over! There's nowhere you can run now," Parker barked, cocking his rifle.
A smirk began to slowly to decorate Jessica's lips.
"Oh Parker... No matter how hard you boys try to tame a girl like me," Jessica purred, using a seductive tone of voice, as she tried to approach Parker. "You men are all too naive and moronic to keep up with a clever young woman like me... Besides... I think you should be more focused on finding a little rose lost in a forest of weeds before she's easily plucked away from your grasp." She pulled the tip of a smoke grenadeβdropping it in front of us.
Smoke quickly poured out of itβswiftly filling the area we were standing in. Parker, Jackson, Scott, and I were coughing uncontrollably due to the large amount of smoke in the room. Filling our lungs rather quickly. I couldn't see a damn thing or where Jessica went, but I heard her move quickly to get away. The sounds of her heels clicking became fainter by the second while we were distracted, having trouble to breath as we coughed relentlessly. After the smoke dispersed completely, Jessica was gone. Again.
"Dammit! We lost her again!" Scott shouted with rage.
"Not entirely this time Scott, I managed to plant a small tracking device on her jacket before she escaped," Jackson stated, as he pulled out his GPS. Showing us her current location as of right now. Only twenty yards northwest of where we're standing right now.
"Good work Jackson," I complemented him, patting his shoulder.
"Thanks Piers," Jackson replied.
I glanced over at Parker, as he holding onto his gun. Thinking to himself. "Everything okay Parker?"
"Yes, I'm trying to figure out what Jessica meant when she talked about being more focused on finding 'a little rose lost in a forest of weeds', but I don't get it," Parker replied, gazing up at me.
"Maybe she was trying to confuse us easily, and make us lose focus on our real objective right now. Which is what I think," Scott pointed out.
"That's not the case though Scott, I've known her since we started working at the FBC together. Jessica likes to make riddles about things that are more important than they seem during certain situations."
'What did Jessica really mean about being more concerned about finding "a little rose lost in a forest of weeds"? Obviously it was a 'she' Jessica was talking about. It sounded really obviously, but I was stuck too. But who could it be?'
"We better go regroup with Chris and the rest of the team," I suggested.
They nodded their heads, as we headed back outside to regroup with the rest of Alpha team.
Chris's POV
Once again, that familiar feeling of rage began to build up inside of me like a wildfire. Slowly flowing through the boiling blood in my veins and consuming me. As I stared at the dead body of my former comrade. I repeatedly clenched my fists, digging my nails into my palm, as I stood there. Lost in complete thought. It felt like total dΓ©jΓ vu to me. From long ago... This time, I won't my emotions blind me. I can't let what happened be repeated once again.
"Captain!"
I turned aroundβseeing Piers coming back with Parker, Scott, and Jackson behind him.
"What happened?" Mark asked them.
"Jessica got away again from us. But before she got away, I was able to place small tracer on her coat. According to my GPS right now, she's heading toβ"
Jackson was interrupted by sound of my PDA going off. I rapidly took it out of my pocketβseeing Rebecca's caller ID pop up on the screen. So I instantly answered it.
"Hello?! Rebecca you there?!"
"Chris, it's me Laura." From the tone of her voice, Laura sounded kinda worried, but mostly serious.
"Hey kiddo, are you alright? Where are you?" I asked her.
"I'm fine Chris, and so is everyone else. I'm calling to let you know that I'm heading to the Space Needle right now."
"Why the hell are you heading there, Laura?! You should be going to the evac location in Land Union park to get out of the city."
I heard her take a deep breath, before she saying,
"Listen carefully, there isn't much time. There are bad people after me. Not just the B.O.W.s, I mean really bad people. They've been chasing us all over the city, because I'm their primary target. I don't know why, but that's not really important right now. Also, I know where Mom is. She's being held captive in the secret underground Umbrella facility located underneath the Space Needle. Unfortunately, I don't know who kidnapped her."
"How do you know all of this Laura?!" I asked her.
"I was informed by a friend of mine."
"Who?" I questioned her over the phone.
I heard voices in the background for a moment. It sounded like Laura was talking to someone else, it sounded like a woman.
"I was told by Ada... Ada Wong," Laura stated clearly.
I was blown away by her statement. A familiar rage was once again burning inside me. I thought that bitch was dead, I saw her die back in China. 'How is she still alive??? Why was Laura with her!?!'
"Laura, she's dangerous! You need to stay away from her at all costs!"
"That's not true Chris! If it wasn't for Ada, I would be dead right now Chris. Ada's been keeping me safe, and she saved me multiple times from getting killed. Trust me on this Uncle Chris, please."
This wasn't the time to let my rage consume me once again. Last time that happened, most of my men died because of my stupid decisions all while I was blinded by vengeance and my own personal vendetta. There's no way in hell I'm going to let that happen again. As much as I hated this, I knew that Laura wanted to find her mother. She knew very well what she was doing, putting herself in even more danger, trusting Ada Wong to help her, and there was nothing I could do to stop her. The best thing to do right now is meet up with her to find Claire. And if Ada tries laying a single finger on her, she'll be dead in a heartbeat. That, I can guarantee.
"Is everybody else heading to the evac location?" I inquired.
"Yes, Ada and I decided that it would be best to split up for everyone's safety. Rebecca and everyone else are heading to Land Union park to evacuate out of the city."
"I'll meet you there as soon as I can, stay safe." Then hung up.
"Is Ada Wong with her?" Piers questioned me, the corners of his mouth quirking down.
"Yes, Ada is with Laura."
Piers tensed up when I mentioned the name of the woman responsible of the deaths of our former comrades.
"What else did she say?" Mark asked me.
"She said that there's an secret Umbrella research facility located right beneath the Space Needle, that's where my sister Claire is being held captive."
Just as I thought when all traces of the wretched Umbrella corporation has been wiped away from the face of the planet, there's always something left behind from them we haven't cleaned up yet.
"Do you know who kidnapped her captain?" Austin inquired.
"No, I don't know. Laura doesn't seem to know either. But apparently someone's after her too. It may be the same person who abducted Claire. Whoever it is, they want my little sister and my niece for some reason."
"Oh shit..." I heard Piers curse under his breath.
I turned aroundβfacing my co-captain. "What's wrong?"
He looked away from Parker, directing his gaze over at me. "I figured out who's after Laura... It's Jessica, that was she meant. 'You should be more focused on finding a little rose lost in a forest of weeds before she's easily plucked away from your grasp.' " Piers perceived.
My eyes widened. "Are you sure it's her?"
"We're sure Chris, it has to be her. There's no other explanation," Parker added.
"Jackson, where's Jessica now?" I asked him.
He checked his PDA, "Jessica's 2.2 miles away from the Space Needle right now captain. If we hurry up, we could cut her off so you can get to Laura first," Jackson suggested.
I pressed my finger over my comm link to report in to HQ, and inform them about our current predicament.
"Chris to HQ. Do you read me?"
I heard nothing over the link. Nothing but staticky sounds. I tried contacting them again, only to get the same result.
"What's going on captain?" Jackson asked me.
"I can't get into contact with HQ. What about you guys?"
They all tried to get into contact with HQ too, but it didn't work either. It looks like we're our own now, since our communication link has been cut off.
"Just great... What do we do now?" Devin inquired, not sounding too happy.
It didn't take long for me to formulate a plan. "Alright," I started off. "we'll spilt up into two teams. Here's the plan. Piers and I will take one of the vehicles to go meet up with Laura and Ada to find Claire. While everyone else takes the other vehicle to go and cut off Jessica. Take what ever measures necessary to stop her from getting to Laura."
"Yes sir!" My men responded unison.
Before the other team left, I headed over to talk to Parker real quick. Once I got his attention, he turned around and faced me.
"Parker, you'll be in charge of the rest of the team. Make sure to keep an eye particularly on Scott too, while I'm gone," I told him.
"Okay. Good luck," Parker replied, as he left to catch up with his team at one of the military vehicles.
"Captain let's go!" Piers shouted from inside the other vehicle.
"I'm coming!" I yelled, as I met up with him in the vehicle. Then we left right awayβheading straight for the Space Needle.
