Pro-2: 'Enter Soul Society'
[Before we start--I want to take some time to thank everyone for the warm reception for the first chapter. I'm not lying when I said I was a little unsure about myself heading into releasing that last chapter. But seeing all the nice comments and seemingly genuine enjoyment really made me smile and feel happy. So I wanted to take this moment to say thanks to all of you, and hopefully I can keep it up with the chapters to come...]
[--Basically, I see these first three chapters as one MASSIVE prologue. So this is Part 2 out of a 3-part prologue. Each being 10k words, so you basically are getting a large 30k word chapter. But because it's spanned out...That's why I'm releasing these three chapters so close together to make it more enjoyable for you guys and it's fun for me!]

--75 Years Later | 1767--
[Your POV]
This was it. There was nothing that could save me now. I had a river to my back, and the blade of a sword to my front. There was nowhere to run. There was nowhere to hide. I had already tasted death over 75 years ago, now I was about to taste it again. Though, something that may surprise some, even with all this time to dwell in my sorrows, and feel less and less human with each passing day, I still felt fear in the moment. I was so overwhelmed by this emotion that I had completely forgotten about the mask that now covered my face, and instead put all my attention onto the Soul Reaper wearing the straw hat and pink kimono in front of me.
(???): "Well, then... What do we have here?"
The bearded man's grin constantly kept its unwavering confidence as he stared down at my petrified face. Then again, it's not often a man with a sword in hand was ever not confident. Nevertheless was it any different for a man who had a sword aimed at them to immediately drop to their knees and begin pleading for their life? Something I did almost instantly.
(Y/n): "Wa-Wa-Wait! Please! Wait! Pl-Please, don't kill me!"
(???): [Tilts Head] "Huh? You're begging? Since when does a Hollow beg?"
(Y/n): "No! No! No! I'm not a Hollow, I'm a human! Well...A dead human. I'm a spirit--But I'm not a Hollow! Really!"
(???): "You sure about that? Because that mask on your face says otherwise."
(Y/n): "Huh? Mask? What are you--"
I mentally questioned what he was talking about in that moment, but it didn't take long before I recalled the mask that now covered my face. With the shock of my face peering through my eyes, I slowly lifted a hand off the ground to touch the surface of the white object that now covered the front of my head. All it took was a single touch to confirm the Soul Reaper's words as true...and for my panic to slowly begin once more.
(Y/n): "O-Okay! I may look like a Hollow, but I'm not one, reall--Argh--I can prove it--Argh--Watch! Just watch!"
I didn't hesitate for even a moment. Even as I spoke, I had already reached up to my face once more and began trying my absolute hardest to pull the mask off my face. But for one reason or another, it just wouldn't come off. My entire identity had been covered with the smooth surface, to the point only my eyes could be seen. Though, in the end, it seemed my eyes was all that was needed for the Soul Reaper to tell what type of expression I carried underneath.
(???): "...A Hollow being scared, huh? I've fought quite the few in my time, but one never this cowardly." [Scratches chin] "...Maybe I drank too much before coming here?"
(Y/n): "Huh, Cowar--Wait! Wait, no! I'm not a Hollow, really!"
(???): "Yeah. Yeah. I've heard that one before..."
(Y/n): [Semi-Hopeful] "...Really?"
(???): "Pfft! No! But, look, clearly you've only been a Hollow for a short while. You still have some sanity to you. So I suggest you just stay still while you can, let me do my job, and you'll enter the Soul Society and everything will be worth it."
(Y/n): "...The...Soul Society..."
As soon as I heard those words, my panic stopped. Not because hearing those words brought me a sense of comfort that dying would be okay this time around. Hell no! I've already felt death once, I didn't want to feel that pain again! The reason I felt comfort was because...Well, if I were to die, and go to the Soul Society...Would I see my family there? It was a thought that came suddenly, without any pre-buildup.
But when it came, it stuck instantly. To the point, I completely forget about the Reaper before me that quenched for my soul, about the world around me, and the circumstances that I had now become a Hollow. All of it was gone as that spark of hope, one I thought I had lost over 70 years ago, came back to life. But my inner monologuing was almost instantly cut off by the first piece of company I had had in a very long time.
(???): "Yeah, the Soul Society. It's basically a place where lost spirits and defeated Hollows go. Trust me, it's a good place, a lot better than the one you're in now. So just stay still so I can--"
(Y/n): "Wait! Wait a moment!"
(???): "Hmm? What now?"
(Y/n): "I-If I had lost someone...If they were killed, I mean, w-when I died as well. Could they... Could they be in the Soul Society right now?"
(???): [Confused] "Um...Well...Maybe? I-It's hard to say--" [Shakes Head; Holds Forehead] "Look. I'm still a little drunk from a party I had last night, and I'm really still struggling to comprehend why, and how, I'm having a conversation with a Hollow of all things right now. Plus there's a few pretty girls I wanna go talk to when I get back. So if you wouldn't mind just letting me get over with this so I can--"
(Y/n): "--Kill me."
(???): "--What?"
(Y/n): "You're a Soul Reaper, right? Kill me. I don't care anymore. If you kill me and send me to the Soul Society, I might be able to see my family, right? So kill me already!"
It was clear straight away that my words had done quite the number on this Soul Reaper's mind. Sure, he may have been confused before. But right now, he was outright dumbstruck by what he was hearing. Like, as he said, not only was he talking to a Hollow--Or somewhat of a Hollow--I don't know, I'm still struggling with that myself. The point was! Having someone asked to be killed was weird enough, but with the amount of passion I now was putting into it clearly set this guy's mind a little loopy. But I didn't care.
You remember that spark of hope I mentioned before, right? Well, that spark had now ignited into a wildfire. I guess it can happen just like that after countless decades of being without hope. Now it was a raging firestorm inside of my spirit, and it would continue to burn until this hopeful dream of seeing my family again finally came true. So I made sure to put on quite the show to get what I want. Huh...Who knew I'd be so eager to die twice? I certainly didn't, though, maybe I shouldn't be so surprised after all.
(Y/n): "Come on! Kill me!"
(???): "What? You wanna die now?"
(Y/n): "I don't have a choice, right? You're a Soul Reaper, and I'm a Hollow! Your job is to get rid of things like me! So do it already! Kill me! Strike this Hollow down and send me off to the Soul Society! Do it so I can see my--"
...Though it seems maybe I put too much passion into my cries. For before I could even finish speaking, this strange-dressed Soul Reaper raised his sword high into the air and swung it down straight for my head. Either, the attack was far less harmful than the one that killed me in the first place; or it went by so quickly that before any pain could register in my body, I had already passed on. I didn't know. All I knew was one moment I was on my knees, with my arms spread out waiting to be struck down by this Soul Reaper; and the next, I was swallowed by a wave of complete and utter darkness, left for my soul to pass through it as I journeyed toward the Society of Souls...
--Some Time Later--
When I first died 75 Years Ago, it didn't set into me right away that I was actually dead. It's strange. Even though I knew I died, the life of a wandering spirit wasn't really much different than that of a living person. Well, besides the fact you don't need to eat or sleep, and that other people don't see you. But the real effect of losing everything didn't come down to any of those things mentioned. The real pain came in when I realized that the things I missed most, were the ones that I had taken for granted for so long now... Like my family.
I had spent 19 years seeing a member of my family every day, to the point just expecting to see them was ingrained into my mind. But now that I couldn't see them, it was like I was a drunk being forced to go without his daily drink. At first, it just made me feel off. Like I was missing a piece of myself. But as the days built up, I started to really realize just what it was like to lose something you had grown to used to.
There were even moments I thought of something and laugh, which I desperately needed in the moment. But whenever I thought of something fun, I'd think of sharing it with my family. But all I needed to do was turn around to realize no one was there. The loss of my family really started to tear my spirit apart to the point some days I couldn't move. I'd just lie on the ground, close my eyes, and picture their faces. Their voices. And contemplate what they would say to me in a moment like right now. Such sentences from the likes of my own Mother and little sister...
"Be strong, (Y/n). I love you. We all do..."
"Don't worry about us, Big Brother. We'll see each other again someday!"
The only two women in the house for as long as Kyoko had been alive, their words always came as soft and reassuring in my mind. Whilst the voices of my three brothers carried their usual antics.
"Keep fighting, (Y/n)! You'll get the guy who did this!"
"Make sure not to cry too much, okay? You need to be the cool big brother we know you are!"
"When you get the sucker who did this to us, (Y/n)... Make sure you punch him hard for me!"
They always had a way about them to make me laugh, even when they were in my head. But as I further thought on the voices of my siblings now, as my conscious travels through this darkened world, they soon began to shift in tone and volume. It confused me at first, why their voices were beginning to change. Before I knew it, they had changed completely. The three voices were now gone, instead replaced by two other male voices, though they seemed older than that of my younger brothers. However, it didn't take me long to notice that one of them sounded a little familiar. It was in this moment I began to wake up...
"Where did you say you found this boy, Kyoraku?"
"I told you, Old Man. I was working. I am a Soul Reaper after all. It's kinda my job."
"Pfft! Please! When do you work? All you do is chase girls around."
"Hey! I'm a Lieutenant for the Soul Reapers, okay? Don't be mean!"
"Oh, I'll be more than mean with you. I know how you acted when you were young before you joined those Soul Reapers."
The voices continued to add up, overlaying one sentence after the other. It was beginning to be hard to track everything.
(Y/n): [Thoughts] "Argh! ...Kyoraku? ...Soul Reaper? Ugh...Is that the guy that killed me? Wait, I died--"
Immediately my eyes snapped open as my body flung upwards in shock. It was in the process of images of my 'final moments' flashing before my eyes that I realized I hadn't died... a second time, I mean. At least, I don't think I did? Because even with me trying to comprehend what was going on. I still gathered enough of my current surroundings to see I was no longer in that forest where I wandered as a spirit.
Instead, I now found myself lying on the ground in what appeared to be a nicely set up hut. It was dimly lit, thanks to a fire not far from my current position on the ground, and it was most definitely bigger than the one I grew up in. But before I could focus on more on where I was, I was suddenly forced to focus on who I was with. As all it took was a simple notion into the air for me to realize I truly wasn't alone.
"Oh, you're awake! Good! I was beginning to think I actually did kill you."
(Y/n): "Huh?"
Turning to my right instantly, I was first greeted by two sets of legs about five meters away from my body. It was as my eyes slowly rose up the legs and further pass the bodies, that I saw a familiar face. It was the Soul Reaper with the strange pink kimono on. Kyoraku, right? And next to him...Was an old man?
(Y/n): "Um...What's going on?"
Old Man: "That's exactly what I'm trying to understand." [Turns to his right] "What is going on, Kyoroku? Not only do you show up out of nowhere, but you bring a guest?"
Kyoraku: "Oh, come on, old man! You know I'm always Rukongai!" [Smiles Brightly] "Right?"
Old Man: [Looks away; Mutters] "I wouldn't be so sure about that..."
(Y/n): [In the background] "Um...Excuse me?"
Kyoraku: [To the Old Man] "Don't be like that! I'm a nice guy! I know I might have been a troublemaker when I was young, but I've changed!"
Old Man: "You still owe me five loaves of bread."
(Y/n): [In the Background] "...Excuse me?"
Kyoraku: [To the Old Man] "What?! You're still on about that? You know I needed them urgently!"
Old Man: "You took them because you 'needed them for a party'."
Kyoraku: "Yeah, and?"
Old Man: "...It was a strip show. What do you even need bread for in that?"
Kyoraku: [Chuckles] "Trust me, old man. When you're young and fit like me. You need to keep your stamina up." [Turns to You] "Don't you think--"
(Y/n): [Suddenly Jumps Up] "WOULD SOMEONE PLEASE ANSWER ME ALREADY!!!"
...Look. I wouldn't call myself an impatient person by any means...But other people might going off how I reacted here. But could you blame me? These two had just been talking like I wasn't even here! And you can't be doing that to a guy who just randomly wakes up in a place after believing he had just been killed! And honestly, even when I did get a response from the two strangers in front of me, it didn't really help my problem.
Kyoraku: "...Yes?"
Old Man: [Sighs] "And not only did you bring a random person into my home, he's also a loud one."
Kyoraku: [Turns to the Old Man] "Hey, now! You can't blame me for that! How was I supposed to know he was loud?!"
Old Man: "Well, maybe you should have asked him that before you brought him here."
Kyoraku: "And how was I supposed to know even do that?! He was unconscious!!"
Old Man: "And how did he get that way?"
Kyoraku: "By me making him!"
Old Man: "Pfft! No wonder you two are friends. You're exactly alike...Loud and annoying."
Kyoraku: "Annoying?! I'm not annoying!" [Turns to you] "You don't think I'm annoying, do you new gu--Huh?"
But when this weird old man dressed in a woman's kimono turned to speak to me, I was no longer standing there. Instead, in my own disgruntled manner, I was making my way for the door.
(Y/n): [Grumbling] "Stupid idiots! The lot of them! Can't even tell me what's going on! I thought he wanted to kill me! So where the hell did he bring me?"
It was an question that I was looking to get answered right away. So I wasted no time in going straight for the entrance to this admittedly nice looking home. But as I was five or so meters away from reaching the door, Kyoraku finally took notice of me, and when he saw I was heading for the door, panic started to set in for Soul Reaper for reasons unknown.
Kyoraku: "No! Kid, wait!"
(Y/n): [Without Looking] "Yeah. Yeah. Whatever, guy. I'm not waiting around just to be ignored again. If I want answers, I'll get them myself!"
And it was with that decree that I finally reached the front door, and as I did, I wasted no time I grabbing hold of the handle and sliding the wooden surface to the side, allowing me access to what was beyond it. And with the impatience getting to a new level inside, nothing was stopping me from leaving this place to see just what part of Japan I had now been taken to. But that was where my first question was raised...Because when I stepped outside, I was beginning to question whether or not I was even in Japan.
For from stepping out of the home I immediately found myself in the centre of a busy dirt road that ran as far as I could see to both my left and right. The street itself was packed with countless people, far too many to count. All of which walked in a way that allowed everyone to get to where they were headed. Beyond the street itself, along the sides, hundreds of other homes similar to the one I had just walked out of could be seen. All as far as the eye could see, houses and people made up the majority of the surrounding area.
It was shocking...I had never seen this many people before in all my life. But the thing that caught the most attention out of it all, was a towering structure in the not-so-far distance. It was like a castle out of stories that my Mom used to tell us before we went to sleep. With towering walls and buildings that seemed to never end, I could tell from my viewpoint alone I could barely make out the full compacity of this city within a city in front of me. But there was something inside me, in this one moment, that confirmed what I had been questioning this entire time now...
(Y/n): "...What part of Japan is this?"
"It's not."
(Y/n): "Huh?"
Turning around, I was greeted by the sight of Kyoraku, the Soul Reaper, leaning against the opened doorway to the old man's home. A gentle smile rested on his face as he took in my shocked reaction. But I was shocked for good reason this time around.
Kyoraku: [Smiling] "Pretty shocking, huh? I told you to wait, kid. This ain't something one can just walk out into."
(Y/n): "Wh-What? Wait...What do you mean this isn't a part of Japan? Then where are we?"
Kyoraku: "Exactly where you wanted to be..." [Grows Serious] "...The Soul Society."
Those three words were all it took for my eyes to widen for the second time in five minutes. I don't know why, but despite wanting to come to this place, I was still struggling to believe I was actually here. But in remembering wanting to be here, I also remembered more about what happened before everything went black... Like the strange bone mask that was covering my face. Instantly, before I could even think of anything else, I went to reach out for my head, expecting to feel the smooth surface of the object that once rested there...But it was not to be found.
(Y/n): "What in the--"
Kyoraku: "If you're wondering where it is...It's gone."
(Y/n): [Lifts Head] "Wha--It is? How? Was...Was it when you killed me?"
Kyoraku: [Chuckles] "Okay, well, first off. I didn't kill you, kid, so stop spurting around lies, alright?"
(Y/n): "Oh, oka--Wait! I'm not...dead?"
Kyoraku: "No. Well, actually, yes, you are dead. You were dead when we first met. What I mean is, I didn't kill you back in that forest in the land of the living."
(Y/n): "You didn't? But you're a Soul Reaper, a-and I was a Hollow, right? So...Isn't it your job to kill...Hollows?"
Kyoraku: "Well, normally you'd be right. And in a way, I guess you are still. It is my job to kill Hollows, and I did try to kill you. But to be honest, my weapon didn't even touch you. It got caught in the mask on your head before it could even touch a hair of yours. I couldn't push it further or remove it, it was completely stuck. It took me a few good attempts before I finally got it free, but when I did, the mask broke and crumbled to dust before it even hit the ground."
(Y/n): "But how--"
Kyoraku: [Raises hand] "And before you ask how, I don't know."
(Y/n): "Oh...But do you--"
Kyoraku: "--And I don't know whether you're still a Hollow or not. I'm not smart enough for questions like that."
(Y/n): "Oh..."
Kyoraku: "...Though, I do know someone who might be able to help. But until I can get in contact with them, how about we head back inside the old man's nice home so I can properly explain things to you without freaking out the people outside, okay?"
It was in this moment that I took another look around my shoulders, in doing so, I began to see that a few people walking through the dirt road behind me had now stopped and were looking my way. I wasn't normally thrown off by having people look at me, but with the situation I was currently in, it came with quite the impact. So after taking that in for a moment, I turned back to the Soul Reaper before me and nodded, proceeding to follow him back into the Old Man's home a few seconds later. It was in the time that followed that I found out a few things. For one, it was confirmed to me that the name of the Soul Reaper was indeed was Kyoraku.
Shunsui Kyoraku, to be precise. And alongside him I found out that the Old Man was actually an elder of this particular district within the Soul Society, the district going by the name of Rukongai. Though, noticeably the elder never gave me his name, but I didn't ponder on it for long. Mainly because there was a whole lot more my mind was focused on in the coming minutes. One such thing being the fact that not only had the Hollow mask disappeared from my face, but so did the gaping hole in my chest. Honestly, if you looked at me now, you'd think I was human and hadn't even died once.
But in reality, I had died twice. And not because I was killed as both human and Hollow, but because Kyoraku did something called 'Konsō'. Which is the process by which a Shinigami, a Soul Reaper, sends wandering Pluses in the Human World to Soul Society. Though he did admit that he wasn't even sure if it would work because of the whole 'Potentially being a Hollow' thing. But so far, it seemed to work. But with answers still ranging around the entirety of it all, Kyoraku decided that before he got those answers, he'd instead bring me to the home of the elder of Rukongai. At least until he heard back from his friend who was also a Soul Reaper.
(Y/n): "So how come we had to wait here then? Why couldn't we just go see your friend now?"
Kyoraku: "Haha! You always in a rush, kid?"
(Y/n): [Nudges Shoulders] "Eh. Depends."
Kyoraku: [Chuckles] "Alright. Fair enough. But, to answer your question, the reason I brought you here instead of Seireitei--"
(Y/n): "--Seireitei? What's that?"
Rukongai Elder: "The place Soul Reapers call home."
(Y/n): "Oh..."
Kyoraku: [Chuckles] "Take it easy on him, Old man. Remember, he doesn't know anything about this place, let alone what you're talking about. But don't worry, I'll dumb it down for him..." [Turns to you] "...It's the big building area behind the walls outside.
(Y/n): "Oh... So, what? You live there?"
Kyoraku: "I guess you can say it like that. Anyway, as I was saying, in the Seireitei, and for Soul Reapers in general, they live by a rather...boring structure. One in which has a bunch of boring rules that you're supposed to follow. Such as not bringing in outsiders into the Seireitei's inner walls. That's why I've brought you here to Rukongai--" [Smiles Goofingly] "They're a lot nicer compared to some Soul Reapers."
It was as Kyoraku said that, that he turned towards the district elder with his goofy smile. It was clear the elder most definitely wasn't a fan of him, to say the least. But it was as the two continued to stare at one another, that I sent my own gaze out the nearby window. I didn't see much on the other side, just the blue sky from a world that felt so much like my own...Yet also so different. I had dreamed so much about finally reaching this place one day, yet now that I was here, it felt so much more different than what I was expecting. And not even in the sense that it was beyond my thoughts, just...a little less.
Kyoraku: "Something on your mind?"
(Y/n): [Looks at the others] "Hmm? Oh, uh, nothing much." [Smiles softly] "It's just...From the stories I heard about the Soul Society, I expected it to be a little different is all."
It was as I said such that both Kyoraku and the District Elder sent a questioning glance to one another. I hadn't noticed such before my eyes reconnected with Kyoraku, who was quick to speak his mind.
Kyoraku: "That reminds me, (Y/n), I've been meaning to ask you. But in the forest, you mentioned the Soul Society, and even stuff like Soul Reapers and Hollows. How exactly did you know about that stuff? It's not normally known outside of those that have been here before?"
(Y/n): "Oh! Uh, well, I know most of the stuff from my Grandpa, he used to tell me stories about Soul Reapers when I was little. He mentioned the Soul Society and Hollows a few times. But I wouldn't really know where he got it from, he never told me, and he may have been old, but I know for a fact he hadn't died before."
It was a rather amusing statement for me to mutter, mainly due to the fact when I was little, my Grandpa would constantly complain about how old he was and that death should just hurry up and show its face already. Whatever that meant. But for Kyoraku, my statement seemed to intrigue him in one way or another. To the point, he instinctively began to rub his short beard with his hand as he pondered something.
Kyoraku: "You're Grandpa, huh? And he's the one that spoke about all this stuff?"
(Y/n): "Uh, huh. Yep. Everyone else called him weird for it. But I believed him."
Kyoraku: "Hmm. Well, that is interesting." [Looks up at you] "And what did you say his name wa--"
"Hey! Get back here you damn thief! That's my water you're stealing!!"
(Y/n)/Kyoraku: "Huh?"
It was as the same sound came from Kyoraku and I, that the two of us, along with the District Elder switched our combined gazes to the window I was just looking out moments ago. Not long after, the three of us found ourselves stepping outside back into the dirt street once more to see what was going on. At first, it seemed normal, before yet again the same voice called out once more.
"Quick! She's getting away! Someone stop that thief!!"
This time around our eyes were able to land on the source of the noise much sooner, and in doing so, we spotted a very thin man with a balding head and rags for clothes pointing in our direction as anger conquered his face. But with his words already registered in our minds, it didn't take us much longer to switch from the angry man, to the cause of his anger. And that so happened to be a masked figure running along the rooftops on the other side of the street, in their hands, a clay pot that presumably had the stolen water in it. Upon closer inspection, this person seemed to have a rather athletically fit body, which was enough to tell this thief was a girl.
One that was decked in attire consisting of a black, backless, sleeveless undershirt, with two white straps on each shoulder, a large beige sash around her waist, and black stretch pants with a pair of lightweight brown shoes. The style was most definitely something you wouldn't see much back in Japan, but other than the clothing, the thief also work a tan coloured fabric around the majority of her face, to the point all that could be seen was her eyes, a little od darkened skin underneath, and a purple coloured ponytail string of hair that came out the back. [Yes, I know it's stated as black. But it appears purple in the anime so I'm going with that]
It was fair to say that whilst this person wanted to steal, their appearance, going along the bright hair and even brighter clothing, most definitely didn't mind being seen. So it was fair to say for those reasons alone I found my eyes glued to this feminine figure as she travelled across the rooftops like a cat chasing after a mouse. And I thought that'd be it. I'd continue to watch this person until they eventually disappeared and I'd just forget about them. But I was soon proven wrong when this cat like thief eventually came to a point in the rooftops across from the street that perfectly lined up with the entrance to the Elder's house.
It was in this moment that, by chance or fate, the eyes of myself and this unknown person met. I don't know why, but in this moment everything came to a still for but a second. It was as my (E/c) eyes ricocheted off her golden own, that I felt a wave of heat coming to my cheeks. But before I could realize any such thing, this masked individual who had now captured my thoughts, took a leap off the opposite side of the rooftops across the street and disappeared completely. But even with their figure gone, I still found them on my mind. Unable to shake the thought as the District Elder and Kyoraku seemed to have no such problem.
Rukongai Elder: [To Kyoraku] "Well then, Mr Soul Reaper? You going to help out or what?"
Kyoraku: "Hmm? Oh!" [Smiles] "I would, District Elder, but I, as a Soul Reaper, am far too busy."
All his words came with that same expanding grin I was beginning to attach to Kyoraku as a character. Speaking of which, it was fair to say he didn't take his job, or life for that instance, very seriously. But I didn't focus on such for much longer, as both Kyoraku himself, and the District elder were about to find out. All because as Kyoraku continued to smile down at the elder, he happened to look past the short man to see I had already began walking off in the distance the masked thief had originally came from with the stolen water.
Kyoraku: "Hey, (Y/n)! Where you going?"
(Y/n): [Whilst walking] "I had to come to the Soul Society for a reason, right? I'm looking for that reason now!'
Kyoraku: "Okay! But...I don't know if that's a very good idea. I mean...I don't even know if you're still a Hollow or not! It could be dangerous! Maybe you should wait until I get in contact with my friend?"
(Y/n): [Still walking] "I'm good thanks!"
Kyoraku: "But you might die!"
Not likely, but Kyoraku basically said it in hopes it'd work and get me from leaving the elders home...It did not work. All I did was look over my shoulder and stare right at the Soul Reaper's eyes as I delivered the most personal message I had in a very long time.
(Y/n): "...Well then, it's a good thing I already know what it's like to die, huh?"
That was it. My final message. I didn't even wait for Kyoraku to reply before I continued moving. I just went back to my journey at hand, silently passing by the angry water man and going about my business. After all...I didn't have much better to do in the Soul Society right now.
--Some Days Later--
But it seemed that the Soul Society had other ideas for me. Several days were spent from the moment I left Kyoraku and the Old Man to go in search of any sign that my family were here also in this strange world. What I didn't know, however, was just how many Districts were in the Soul Society. On my second day, I asked a guy trying to fish about where I was, and he told me I was in District 7. That got me thinking just how many districts there were, but upon asking, I received the shocking conclusion that there were over 320 total districts in the entire Rukongai area.
And with me only making it to District 7 in two days of non-stop searching around made me truly understand just how daunting the task of finding my family would be. It'd take years at this rate, and whilst I technically wouldn't die here, at least from my current knowledge, the idea of leaning on this fleeting spark of hope inside of my spirit was beginning to become heavier with each passing hour. Nevertheless, I pushed on. Never backing down. From district to district I travelled in the hope that I'd see a face I had now gone 75 years without seeing.
But as fate would have it, things didn't go my way. Eventually, the hours I had spent searching for my family got into the hundreds, and by day seven the flame of ambition inside of me was beginning to dwindle more and more. The only saving grace was that I didn't feel very hungry, though the need for water did surprisingly get to me. I tried drinking some from a river on the outskirts of District 16, but it didn't taste very good. But even with the craving for water growing to new levels, I kept pressing forward. By Day 7, I had just entered District 35.
But my energy to go around in search of my family was nowhere to be found. I hardly even had the energy to walk. I only made it about a few meters from the District gate before my body fell to the ground in the middle of the hot dirt road. I was beginning to think the strength in my arms wouldn't be enough to carry me over to some shade. But to my surprise, I was able to pick myself up and eventually find a shady spot under a tree about a hundred meters from the District gate. It was in this exact spot that I now found myself trying to keep that flame inside of me alight.
(Y/n): [Tiredly Mumbling] "...Come on, come on... You need to keep pushing... You can't give up now... You're almost there..."
Those last three words, of course, being absolute bullshit. There was over 320 Districts in Soul Society, and I wasn't even a quarter of the way there yet. But the mind tries to do funny things in times of desperation, and right now, I was most definitely desperate. Nevertheless, no matter the words I said to myself, none of it seemed to motivate me to get up. It got to the point that I began to question whether or not I'd even move from this spot ever again. I even went to bury my head into my crossed arms that rested over my knees. But just when I thought I'd be stuck on that subject forever, my thoughts were suddenly pulled out from my innermost ambitions when an unexpected sound entered the air.
"Meow!"
(Y/n): [Eyes closed] "...Mrgh?"
"Meow!"
(Y/n): [Eyes still closed; Sighs] "Great. Not only can't I move...But now I'm hearing things in my he--"
"Meow!"
(Y/n): "Hu...Huh?"
Upon realizing that the noise wasn't just in my head, I finally made the action to lift my head and open my eyes. It was once such was done, that my opened eyes proceeded to open just a little bit more when I saw seated before me...was a small black cat.
(Y/n): "...A cat?"
"Meow!"
The gentle song in which the cat sang seemed to come along with a gentle smile spread across its feline lips. It was just above those darkened surfaces, along with the extended whispers and cute button nose, was a pair of bright golden eyes. It was kinda strange, I had never seen a cat with gold eyes before. What was even stranger was the fact I felt I had seen them before. However, I quickly shunned that thought away after a few minutes of contemplating whether I saw this cat when I was alive. But that only led my mind to question whether or not cats could even be brought to the Soul Society.
"Meow!"
Seemingly they could. But it was after this fourth of fifth 'meow' that the cat finally made its move. But instead of moving away from me, like most cats did when I was back in the land of the living, this little guy proceeded to stretch out his neck as it headed right for me. It was only on instinct that my hand began to reach out as well, and when it came to halfway, my hand met the cat's head, and before long the little black animal began running its soft fur all through my hand. It started with a few gentle strokes at the top of his head.
Slowly scooping between the part of its ears, before eventually, the feline wanted further attention down towards its back and finishing off at the base of the tail. This process would continue for some time, with the cat circling around to start it all over again by the time my hand reached its tail. At first, I only did such as it felt natural to pat the cat. But as time went along, I slowly found a smile coming to my face, and with it so did the energy I had been searching for this entire time. I don't why exactly. Maybe because in the moment I just allowed my mind to slip free from the purposes of why I was in the Soul Society right now and simply just enjoyed the fact I was patting a cute cat.
I eventually reached a state of self-happiness that I decided to stretch out my other hand towards the cat in order to pick it up. At first, I thought this was definitely going to be the part where it'd run away because in that moment I had momentarily stopped the constant spatting to pick it up. But to my surprise, it didn't pull away once as my left hand came down along with my right to gently scoop the pretty kitty into my arms. It was for a few minutes more that I continued to pat the cat and hold it close whilst it lay in my lap.
I could have sworn I saw it actually smile at one point. But whereas I couldn't confirm that, I mostly could tell it was enjoying itself because this little guy just wouldn't stop purring as it repeatedly nestled its head into the approaching distance of my fingers. Eventually, it came to the point where I grabbed the cat once more by it's sides, but instead of removing it from my lap entirely, I proceeded to instead hold it out in front of my face, to the point it was level with my face. The perfect spot so he could clearly see the happy smile on my face. I felt it was only necessary to showcase to this guy just how happy he had made a rather sad person as of late.
(Y/n): [Smiles] "You know, Mr. Kitty Cat, you came at the perfect time. I had about given up on my life..."
Cat: "Meow!"
(Y/n): [Chuckles] "No, I wasn't going to kill myself. I mean, well, I'm kinda already dead..." [Sighs] "This world is still so confusing to me, you know?"
Cat: "Meow!"
Again, the only response the feline could make came as its hanging body and slightly scrunched-up face hovered before my own. If I had to tell any emotion from its expression...It probably wanted to be let down, or at least not held out like it was a stuffed animal my mother used to make for Kyoko when she was a baby.
(Y/n): "...If I can be honest with you for a moment, Mr. Kitty Cat, I'm actually new to this strange world. I came here with someone called a Soul Reaper about a week ago."
Cat: "Meow..."
A softer meow came this time around. In the same moment, my head lowered slightly.
(Y/n): "I came here because I'm searching for my family. They died some time ago, and I haven't seen them in so, so long. But I came here, willing death and all, in hopes I'd find them. But I haven't found them so far, have I...?"
For a moment more I pondered why I was in this strange place, and if it was even worth being here. Which was an odd thought in itself seeing as for the longest time I had wanted to become a Soul Reaper, but then things turned to shit when I died--and turned even more to shit when I became a Hollow, the exact opposite to a Soul ReaperAnd then shit got even more worse when I felt like I was going to die. But now...Things slowly seemed to be picking up, and all because of this cute cat in my hands. With that thought, I lifted my head, and as I did, I offered a bright smile towards the cat's face, which looked sad after the story I just told him.
(Y/n): [Smiles Brightly] "But everything's starting to look up now, right? I mean, I'm starting to get my energy back. I don't feel so thirsty anym--Okay, I still feel thirsty. But all of it's okay because I'm holding you! Isn't that right, Mr. Kitty? Isn't it? Oh, yes it is! Yes, it is! Mr Kitty is the prettiest kitty in the entire Soul Society. Aren't you Mr..."
It just so happened that fate decided to reveal its cruel trick at this exact moment. You see, this entire time I had been calling this cat a 'Mr', when all it took was a simple lowering of my eyes down to the stomach of the cat to see, well...nipples. Eight of them.
(Y/n): "Oh..." [Slowly looks up at the Cat] "...You're not a Mr. Kitty Cat after all, are ya, huh?"
I swear, in this exact moment I could have sworn the cat was giving me a look that basically said 'No, shit!'. Then again, I couldn't really blame it. I mean, I pretty much had just confused its entire identity. However, things were about to get worse. Mainly because as I continued to stare at the stomach of the cat, and most precisely, the small buds of flesh that cropped out from its chest. You see, I had never seen a cat from this angle before, at least, not for this long. But there was just something about the nipples that seemed...weird. I don't know. Let's just put it down to intrusive thoughts, and like most other times, intrusive thoughts won the day when out of nowhere, as I still held the now confirmed female cat with one hand, I brought the other down, extended a single finger...And poked a nipple.
Female Cat: "Mro--KhAAAAA!!!"
(Y/n): [Lifts Head] "Hu--"
Female Cat: "KhIIIIIsss!!!"
The sudden change from soft expression to loud hissing and showing of teeth delivered enough of a shock that instantly my right hand let go of the Cat, causing the creature to quickly drop ground. The agitated look on its face remained before it dashed for my left, heading for the tree which I currently was leaning against. At first, my head just followed the cat's movements, but when it was just about to disappear behind the tree I quickly spun to my feet and went to follow it.
(Y/n): "Wait, Mister--I mean, Miss Kitty! I'm sorry I touched you like that! I didn't mean to--"
...But that's where things got even more weird. Because, you see, for the entire time I from I jumped to my feet to following after the cat that rushed around the tree, I never once took my eyes off of it. Of course, that became hard when it disappeared behind the tree. Nevertheless, I never once thought that anything beyond the normal would be there when I finally caught up to the feline. But that thought process all changed when I rushed behind the rather large tree only to suddenly--
Bang!
I couldn't tell what it was at first that I bumped into, it was definitely something that didn't move easily, that's for sure. All I knew was I hit something and was forced backward onto the ground, left to grab at my forehead and groan due to the pain.
(Y/n): "Argh...Ouch! What the hell did I just run into? It felt like a brick--"
"I'd be careful what I say next if I was you."
(Y/n): "...Huh? What are you--"
Of course, I was quickly thrown off by the fact that someone was talking to me. Especially because for this entire time I thought I was alone...Well, besides the cat. But no matter how alone I was, or prepared to be greeted by another resident of the Soul Society, I was MOST DEFINITELY not prepared for what was to be seen when I finally managed to open my eyes. I'll give you a hint what it wasn't, though...a cat. In fact, it was the exact opposite! The thing talking... was a human. A female human...at that. A female human...WHO WAS FUCKING NAKED RIGHT NOW?! Those words were brought in such a way within the walls of my mind because I was completely thrown off when my eyes opened to see the slender, and as already mentioned--NAKED-- figure of a dark-skinned woman with short purple hair.
Though with my current position on the ground, anyone left to see the scene from behind me would have had this view blocked by the back of my head. But even then, the idea of it all was hard to block off. Especially for me, who found my entire body frozen, sweat beginning to run down my face due to nerves as my head slightly shook from struggling to comprehend the image before me.
And all was doubled because this one moment started from me chasing a cat--Wait! The Cat! It was the first thought that managed to take the top spot in my mind, dethroning the previous winner being the image of what currently stood before me. In the end, this was enough to clear my head enough that I could quickly swing up a stray hand to cover my eyes and therefore bring my other actions back into the scene.
(Y/n): [Covers Eyes Suddenly] "Ah! I--I'm so sorry! I...I didn't know you were here, or um...Without clothing..."
For the first few seconds, I had no idea what the reaction was that came from this girl. All I knew right now was the images that remained of her body in my mind, and the fact she probably wanted to hit me right now. Though, any such confirmation wasn't confirmed due to the fact I couldn't see anything. But if I were to see right now, I'd most certainly be surprised to see this girl with purple hair wasn't covering her body, even more surprising...She was smiling? All before instantly it swapped out to fake pout.
Naked Girl: "Aw~ What's the matter? Your hands were all over me before, but now you don't even want to look at me?"
(Y/n): [Goes to remove hand] "Huh? What do you--" [Realizes; Quickly covers eyes again] "Uh, sorry! But, um...I don't think I understand?"
Naked Girl: "Don't understand? How can you not understand?" [Grins] "Just a moment ago you were saying things like I was pretty. But now you don't want to look at me?"
(Y/n): "Oh! Um, well, i-it's not like I don't want to look at you! I do! I mean...Not in a weird way. It's just, um..." [Blushes More] "...You're not wearing any clothes."
Naked Girl: "You didn't seem to mind before when you called me 'pretty', or what? Don't you think I'm pretty anymore?"
(Y/n): "Huh? Oh! Oh!" [Chuckles Nervously] "Um, I'm sorry. I wasn't talking to you when I said that. You see, I didn't even know you were here, and I was actually talking to a cat when I said those words."
Naked Girl: "I know."
(Y/n): [Eyes Still Covered] "...Oh? Well, um...Do you understand now that I wasn't talking to you?"
Naked Girl: "But you were talking to me."
Okay, honestly, I've never hit a woman before, and my Mother raised me right. But seriously, the annoyance inside of me was slowly beginning to win over the nervousness that had previously been reigning supreme ever since I first spoke to this clearly delusional woman. Nevertheless, I kept my anger in check as I tried to settle this situation normally.
(Y/n): [Tries to Laugh it Off] "...Okay, look. I think there's some misunderstanding. Because-I wasn't-talking to you. That...Haha...I can promise you. Really."
Naked Girl: "...But you were talking to me."
(Y/n): [Suddenly Jumps To Feet] "Alright! That's it, lady! I don't know who you think you are--Or if you're even real! I'm so thirsty right now I could damn well be imagining I'm seeing a naked girl in front of me! But delusion or not, you start driving me crazy and I will..."
...I couldn't find the words. No matter how hard I tried.
Naked Girl: [Grins] "You'll what...?"
My eyes stretched as far as they could, sweat beginning to run down my face.
(Y/n): "...I...I..."
Naked Girl: [Chuckles] "What? Never seen something like this before?"
I can't believe I let this happen. I was so lost in my agitation that I had jumped to my feet in a rage and removed the hand that had previously been covering my eyes. Now I saw everything.
(Y/n): "U-Uh, um, well...I have...B-But not like this before..."
Naked Girl: "Is this your first time~"
(Y/n): [Blushes] "What? No! Shut up! My brain just isn't working right now!"
Naked Girl: [Chuckles] "Oh! Is that so? Haha!"
I wanted to yell at her. To stop the sweating. To drop the pointed finger which still remained in the same spot it found when I had rose to my feet seconds ago. But I could do nothing. All I could do...was stare. Stare in complete silence and shock...as standing before me...was a talking cat. And not just any cat, but the black cat from before.
(Y/n): [Still Shocked] "...S-So...This is what you meant by 'I was talking to you', huh?"
Naked Girl: (Cat Form) "Uh, huh."
(Y/n): "So...You're used to this?"
Naked Girl: (Cat Form) "Pretty much. You like it?"
(Y/n): "Um...Sure...Sure. It's not weird at all...Seeing a cat...talking to me."
Naked Girl: (Cat Form) "I hope not. It'd hurt my feelings if you thought I was weird."
(Y/n): "...Right...Gotcha...Gotcha..." [Coughs] "S-So, um..."
Naked Girl: (Cat Form) "No."
(Y/n): [Snaps back to reality] "H-Huh?
Naked Girl: (Cat From) "You were going to ask if all cats talk, right? No. They don't. Just me."
(Y/n): "Oh...Okay."
You know, even with that question being answered, it still did very little to calm me down from the fact A FUCKING CAT WAS TALKING TO ME! AND THAT IT COULD TURN INTO A GIRL! Or...Did the girl turn into a cat? Does that make more sense? It does, right...Right?"
(Y/n): [Coughs Abruptly] "...So, um..."
Naked Girl: (Cat Form) "Yes?"
(Y/n): "Are you like...a cat that got cursed to transform into a human, or like...a girl that can turn into a cat?"
Naked Girl: (Cat Form) "Does the answer really change the outcome?"
(Y/n): "No...No. I just...Was wondering...is all."
Again, another wave of silence filled the air as I just stared off with this cat...? Girl...? Cat girl...? No. No. That just sounds wrong even thinking it. There could never be cat girls! So this just made her a girl...who could become a cat? Right? Well, whatever the answer was, I wouldn't receive for some time it seems. Because as I was trying to process it all, I was suddenly brought back to reality when this...girl who can turn into a cat, proceeded to turn around and disappear behind the tree once more.
On instinct, I went to follow her, but I quickly remembered what happened the last time I chased after a cat. So I remained in place, and for good reason, because a few seconds passed before a slender dark-skinned arm poked out from behind the tree. Clearly the...girl who can turn into a cat...had transformed back into a gir--Fuck! This is confusing! The point is! She's a girl again! And a naked one at that! So all I had to do was stay in place and try not to have vivid flashbacks about what her body looked like seconds ago!
Naked Girl: "So...Is it true?"
(Y/n): [Lifts Head Abruptly] "H-Huh? Sorry?"
A silent giggle came from behind the tree where the girl now stood. I don't know why...Just hearing it made me nervous, and blush a little.
Naked Girl: "The story. The one you told me--Well, Cat me, before. About you coming here to look for your family?"
(Y/n): "O-Oh...Um, yeah. I came here--I mean, I came to the Soul Society, in general, to look for them."
Naked Girl: "And are they here?"
(Y/n): "Well...I don't know. I mean, I know they died. But I don't know if they're even in the Soul Society at all."
It was in this moment, as I contemplated over my situation, that out of nowhere the naked girl poked her head out from behind the tree. A look of shock finding her face as she stared me right in the eyes. Again, I could begin to feel the heat on my face warm up a little.
Naked Girl: "Are you telling me you came ALL the way to the Soul Society to look for your family...And you don't even know they're actually here?"
(Y/n): "No."
That seemed to shock her more when I actually confirmed it than she was before.
Naked Girl: "But...You still came anyway?"
(Y/n): "Of course!" [Smiles Slightly] "I mean...They're my family, right? I'd do anything for them. Even travel to a world I have pretty much no idea about."
Naked Girl: "But what's if they're not here...?"
(Y/n): "Well, then..." [Smiles Brighter] "...At least I know I tried, right?"
[3rd Person POV]
Unbeknownst to (Y/n), in that moment, those very words in which he had just spoken, had more effect on this girl before him than he'd ever know. For at this current point in time, the only thing he could go off was the way he just continued to stare at her as she processed everything she had just heard. But it was only a few seconds later, did she pulled her head away and hid behind the tree once more.
It could be seen, that at this point, she was in the process of putting some clothes back on. However, she found herself unable to move as she continued to think about what (Y/n) had just said, and before long, a soft smile found her lips. Meanwhile with (Y/n), he kinda just found himself standing in place right now. Unable to do much as he silently waited for this naked girl to do something...or tell him to leave.
But before it could reach the second point, out of nowhere, a new form of shade seemed to suddenly appear right above (Y/n)'s current position. It was in this moment that he lifted his head to see the previously naked girl now wearing clothing, seated on a branch from the tree in front of him. grinning down at him. It was at this point that he properly could get a look at the face of the person he had accidentally seen naked before. Her golden eyes. Her purple hair. The familiar black clothing she wor--
(Y/n): "Hey! You're the water thief from earlier!"
(???): "Wha--I am not a thief! Thank you very much!"
(Y/n): [Blankly Stares] "Oh, yeah? The guy you stole water from earlier seemed to disagree."
(???): "Pfft! Like he'd know!"
Again, all (Y/n) needed was to look up at her with that blank stare that this girl was quickly starting to get pissed off by. Mostly because (Y/n) was right.
(???): "...Y-Yeah, well! Technically, he took it from the river, so therefore he stole it first! Besides, are you going to even believe a guy who doesn't his water anymore?"
(Y/n): "So you admit you stole it?"
(???): "No! Because I didn't steal anything! Didn't you hear my perfect reasoning?"
(Y/n): "You mean excuses?"
(???): "It's not excuses! I didn't steal anything! I simply...Borrowed it! Yeah!"
(Y/n): "That's why you decided to wear a mask to cover your face when you 'borrowed' it?"
(???): "...Shut up, okay! You said you were thirsty before, right?"
(Y/n): "Yeah?"
(???): [Smiles] "Wanna go get some?"
(Y/n): "Depends...Is it going to be stolen?"
The dark-skinned girl with purple hair just narrowed her eyes. In the end, this was enough to get her answer across. As for (Y/n), he just continued to smile...All before seconds later he just turned around and began walking away, something that caused his female counterpart to lean forward on the branch with her hands pushed out, kinda like a cat in a way.
(???): "Hey! Where are you going?"
(Y/n): [Without Looking] "Dead family, remember? Gotta go find them!"
The words were direct to the point, and before the purple-haired girl could come up with a response (Y/n) had already disappeared behind the nearby stone wall. It was on the other side that (Y/n)'s smile continued to remain as he ventured further toward the township of this particular District. However, he didn't get too far before he was suddenly joined by the girl once more after she seemingly raced after him. Her pace only slowed down when she eventually reached his side. But even then, as she looked at him, (Y/n) just kept his eyes straight.
(???): [Smiles] "You seriously going to leave before giving me your name? I mean...It's the least you owe me after you saw me naked."
(Y/n): "You're seriously still going on about it?" [Hunches head] "I'd much rather forget about it, thank you."
(???): "Tell me your name and we'll see!"
(Y/n): [Sighs] "...(Y/n)."
(???): "(Y/n)...?"
(Y/n): "...(L/n)."
(???): "Well, (Y/n)! You're in luck! I'm Yoruichi, and I'm the perfect guide for you!"
(Y/n): "No, thanks. I'm cool."
The girl now known as Yoruichi simply raised an eyebrow, picked up her grin, and placed a hand on her hip as she eyed the boy next to her.
Yoruichi: "What? You don't want some help? It might make you find your family quicker?"
(Y/n): "Well, I've been searching for them for over 75 Years, so...I think I'm pretty skilled at trying to find them."
Yoruichi: "Oooooooor you've been searching for them for over 75 Years and still haven't find them so maybe you're just...bad? I don't know?"
There was clearly a teasing tone in Yoruichi's voice, further followed by a cheery smile she put on display as (Y/n) just looked at her blankly yet again. He was going to say something, but before he could, he was cut off abruptly by Yoruichi suddenly reaching out and wrapping her arms around (Y/n)'s own. Not only did this cause the male to resort to immediate silence out of embarrassment, especially when he felt the...noticeably large chest of the girl pushing against his arm, but it also gave Yoruichi the perfect opportunity to steal the moment in one go.
Yoruichi: "Besides! You said you were thirsty before, right? So how can you expect yourself to find your family if you can hardly move?"
(Y/n): [Mutters] "...Is that why you're holding my arm right now? So I don't fall over?"
Yoruichi: [Smiles Brightly] "Nope!"
(Y/n): "So why are you--"
Yoruichi: "Oh! Come on! I know the perfect spot to start looking for your family!"
(Y/n): "Really? Whe--"
Before he could finish his sentence, however, (Y/n) was suddenly cut off when Yoruichi tightened her grip around his arm and suddenly took off into the distance. Of course, this meant she was practically dragging (Y/n) along down the dirt road and towards the township. All the while (Y/n) called for her to stop, but Yoruichi just kept running with that growing grin on her face. In this moment, (Y/n) questioned why this random person he had only just met was doing all this...Little did he know where this exact point in time would lead him to in so, so many, years to come.
--257 Years Later | Present Day | Karakura, Japan-- (Takes Place During Episode 2)
You see, life has strange things for us all. We never know where it'll take us, and the exact same can be said for (Y/n) (L/n). Because 257 Years Ago, he was only fresh to the environment of the Soul Society, searching for his family whom he had lost even long before that moment. But now, in the present day in the world of the living, the once young boy, now a little older (Though not in looks by much) could be seen decked out in Soul Reaper attire. Even more so, adding on to that aspect, the (H/c) hair-coloured male also had the sheath to his very on Zanpakuto hanging from his waist. But the most noticeable piece of clothing that brought him close to home...was the red scarf wrapped around his neck.
(Y/n): [Breathes in Deeply] "...Ah! Boy, does it feel good to have the nice night cold air of the living brush against your face? Ha! It's been a while, hasn't it old home?"
It was roughly around 9:30 P.M. in the world of the living right now. The sky was dark and the air was cold. Such was suggested as the now 351-year-old male fixed up the scarf wrapped around his neck. Honestly, it was weird when (Y/n) remembered just how old he technically was now. Even more weirder when he only looked like he was in his late twenties. But age was not something that would hold the young man back, who now found himself as not only a member of the Soul Reaper Corps but as a Captain of the unique Squad 14.
It was a long story about how he got to this point, but one that would surely be mentioned sooner or later. Most likely by (Y/n). After all, he loved talking about his backstory at how he got into being a Soul Reaper, his tutoring under Captain Kyoraku, and the countless adventures he had had by this point. But if there was one person who had already heard about countless of his stories already, it was the one and only who had accompanied him from the world of the Soul Society to that of the living. Something (Y/n) was reminded off as a noise echoed from behind.
(Y/n): [Without looking back; Grins] "You know...You really didn't have to come along? I can handle this."
"Oh, I know. I just enjoy seeing you fight is all."
(Y/n): "That so? And fight who exactly? Hollows? Or wayward young Soul Reapers who have yet to return to Soul Society and been staying in this place for a little too long?"
The notion of (Y/n)'s sentence was familiar to no one but the person he was talking to. That person, of course, was none other than the familiar face he had spent the most time with during his time going up the ranks as a Soul Reaper. By no surprise, the person being spoken off was none other than the familiar dark-skinned girl whom (Y/n) had met in quite the first encounter all those years ago...Yoruichi.
Just like (Y/n), Yoruichi herself had grown older. Though, she technically was only a few years, in Soul Reaper terms, older than the boy across from her. Though her figure had most definitely changed...For better if you asked (Y/n). But Yoruichi's appearance wasn't the only thing that had changed, for so did their relationship. For what once was a simple infatuation sprung on by a sudden counter, had led to something more over the years.
Such only being hinted at as Yoruichi maneuvered her way until she was standing in front of the taller male, her back to his stomach, before abruptly shoving it back into his chest. The action startled (Y/n), enough for his eyes to spark open. But he was quick to adjust and calm down, and with such actions, proceeded to slowly bring his arms around the neck of his girlfriend and began to look out at the pretty city lights before them both.
Yoruichi: "You think she's going to come back quietly?"
(Y/n): "I don't see why not. I mean, it's not like she's in trouble yet."
Yoruichi: "Still...She's technically a teenager if we're going off ages in Soul Society. Trust me, girls can get pretty stubborn at that age."
(Y/n): "Oh, trust me. I know!"
It was that remark that got (Y/n) a sudden jab to his ribs. The pain was enough to make him wince and close a single eye, but he made sure to smile as Yoruichi looked back and glared at him. It was a look that remained as she turned her head back and crossed her arms, but she noticeably didn't remove herself from her current spot pressed against (Y/n).
Yoruichi: "Well then, I guess there's really only one way to find out." [Bends Head Back] "You ready?"
(Y/n): [Grins] "I was born ready, my pretty."
It was with that action that Yoruichi matched (Y/n)'s own grin. All before she suddenly launched forward, transforming into her cat form as she pounced off the edge of the building. As for (Y/n), he did the same. The cape of the Soul Reaper Captain flapping in the air as he grasped the handle of his Zanpakuto and fell toward the ground below. But out of everything, if there was one message to be delivered in this moment.
...It's that the story of (Y/n) (L/n), Captain of Squad 14 of the Soul Reapers, was just getting started...
[Chapter 2 done. Part 2 of the Prologue done. Which means the next chapter will end basically this "Introduction Stage" of the story, and from that point on, we'll get into the story of the show and added stuff from my own part as well. So hope you had fun with this chapter like I did, and hopefully I'll see you all again soon~]
