As the daughter of a producer, she has developed extensive conversational skills. She can (frequently) talk teachers into improving her grades, though could do well with even a little bit of effort. She focuses her intelligence...elsewhere. Her knowledge is not without flaws, particularly in relation to certain elements of history and culture.
Val is popular with her classmates; she often uses her social status (and social know-how) to aid others. Yet these crusades are not always as successful as she would wish. She usually has an agenda for helping others, but the agenda is never a cruel one. However, some of Valerie's attempts at righting the world's minor wrongs indeed produce the results she anticipates. She can charm just about anyone. This may come from a need to prove her worth to people but...she will tackle that issue another day. She knows what she wants and works her ass off to get it. Her determined nature is what will be the cause of her triumph, as she very rarely, if ever, gives up. Oh god, lets get into this shit show. When Val's mother, Theresa, was very young, she went and got herself knocked up by some up and coming producer, Mr Benjamin Ross in hopes of getting a role in a movie. Newsflash, she didn't. Instead she got Val, who Benjamin wanted no part in raising. Unfortunately for Benjamin and Theresa, they both came from strict Catholic backgrounds. So naturally, they wed. It's the 60s man! Flash forward to the 80s, we have ourselves two parents on the brink of divorce, an absent father, distant mother and a big old neverending credit card she uses to drown her sorrors in Chanel.
