Personality: Surrounded for most of her life by people who were cruel and judgemental can do a number on someone. Whatever is left of the 9 year old girl found by a New York deli is buried deep beneath who she is now, very rarely seeing the light of day.
Elena is known in the other side as the leader's sword, his greatest weapon. Handcrafted and welded into the wonderfully skilled woman she has become. Upon first glance, Lena is a confident, cocky and deadly girl. Her eyes lack remorse and her heart has turned to stone. Atleast it appears that way, and is somewhat true, given her track record.
She has good reason to be cocky, others suppose. Due to her training, she is able to incapacitate or kill anyone who comes her way. Her skills are too refined to be called a soldiers work, preferring to use knives and staffs over guns and the like. Her deadly determination overshadows others around her, and her stubborn nature makes sure she finishes the job with time to spare.
Some may think because she is on the side that she is that she has adopted her morals. God no. It's shelter, food and people who trust her. The way she sees it, she would have ended up exactly where she is no matter what sort of America her tragic tale took place in. Cynical, perhaps, but she thinks of it as nothing but the truth. Some may also think that this makes her a loveless creature but this is far from the truth. She has great compassion for anyone who gets close enough to see it, and she would kill in an instant for anyone who has done right by her. She's loyal, fiercely loyal. She also has great compassion for animals, and anyone who is like her. Who is like who she was.
Her cocky nature can often manifest into a sharp wit, a sense of humour dancing around her no matter the situation.
Overall, she's a hard but to crack but once it's done, she's the closest ally you could hope for.

Backstory: Lottie's mother dropped her off at some orphanage when she was young and she spent a good part of her childhood. That is until she ran away at 12 and made her living through pickpocketing. She was found by the other side leader, And after he learned that the orphanage let her take the fighting classes she so desperately asked for, he found she was of use. She had always grown up on the other side of the tracks so it wasn't difficult to get her to comply with their cause. She's not against equality, not really. She just doesn't fight for it. What benefited her at the time was aligning herself with the Other Side and if that's what it took to have shelter, then she was going to do it. She trained relentlessly in a number of skills until she was moulded into the perfect spy.
