EVERYONE WAS STILL IN SHOCK AT WHAT THEY SAW. They knew Cassandra was too far gone. There was no denying that anymore. There was no denying it when she ripped Nathan's heart from his chest. Octavia wanted to kill her. It wasn't her best friend. It wasn't her sister. It was a monster inside of her body. She took her brother away from her. Nathan thought she was still in there. If only he was right.
No one believed that he was dead. It was something that was hard to even think of. But his body was right there. Right in front of them. Rotting. His heart was across the street.Β Octavia didn't want to move. She didn't want to even look at him because if she did. She would have to accept it. Accept his death. Accept that the shell of her best friend killed him. She couldn't think of it. And nobody moved her. They knew she was grieving and there was nothing they could do or say that would fix anything.
"So, what's the plan?" Caroline asks as she wiped the tears from her eyes. She looks around the room, seeing everyone staring at the floor. "We have a plan, right?" She questions as she wanted to know they had a plan to kill the monster who took Nathan away from her.
"We do." Elijah states catching everyone's attention as there was nothing that was shared with them. He only looks at Klaus who nods his head. "We have the potion Bonnie made." He tells them but Katherine only scoffs, not believing that it could even work anymore.
"She's way past a hail Mary." Katherine says as she shakes her head, her eyes drifting over to wear Octavia was still laying on her brother's body.
"We have to try." Damon says with a nod, even if it doesn't work. At least they did one last attempt to rid this darkness from her body. Klaus and Elijah only stare at each other, both knowing their seperate plan..
"Okay, what are we waiting for?" Kol asks as he begins to walk but Klaus only stops him, putting a hand on his chest. Kol looks at him curiously, wondering why he was stopped
"Wait.." Klaus trails off as he glances at Elijah. Everyone could tell they were secretly have a conversation, they just didn't know what they were up to.
"What? What is it?" Bonnie asks as she flickers her eyes between the two. Klaus clenches his jaw as he looks at all of them. They weren't going to like it but they weren't risking anyone else's life.
"Elijah and I will go in. We don't need to put anyone else in danger." Klaus tells them and they were all shocked that the brothers decided to go in alone.
"She's strong, what if you need help?" Caroline asks as she looks at them but she could see in their eyes that they weren't going to let anybody else get hurt. Not when they already lost Nathan.
"Yeah, you guys can't go in by yourselves." Katherine interjects, not liking the idea of Elijah being in their without her. There was no way she was going to allow it to happen.
"We don't need to risk anyone else!" Elijahs voice was loud and stern, everyone knew he was being serious. He never raises his voice but now, he was staring at them with hard glares. Elijah cost Nathan his life because he too believed Cassandra was still in there. Then he was proven wrong. Elijah was going to put his life on the line before anyone elses. Because it was his fault.
"No one else needs to go inside, do you understand?" Klaus asks as he looks at everyone who had hesitant expressions but they couldn't but too many people at risk. They nod their heads, leaving Elijah and Klaus to walk into the building, immediately seeing Cassandra standing in the middle of the room with her back faced to them.
"Well, well. Look who showed up." The divine says as she turns around to look at Klaus and Elijah behind her. "Where are the rest of your buddies?" She asks as she raises an eyebrow at them. Did they really think they could take her all on their own?
"We're not letting you hurt anybody else." Elijah says as he looks at the monster in front of him. Cassandra laughs as she shakes her head, meeting his eyes.
"I know Cassandra is still in there and I'm going to get her back." Klaus states as he clenches his jaw, taking a step closer as he wasn't about to step down. The divine had taken enough from him, he wasn't going to let him take Cassandra away.
"Come on, Nik. You didn't even notice when something was wrong." The divine says as she plays with his feelings. Klaus knew she was right, there was no way the divine got this much control over night. She was slowly taking over and Klaus didn't even realize it.
"You broke her. She was happy." Klaus sneers at her but Cassandra only raises her eyebrows at him. Happy? Was that what happiness looked like?"
"She couldn't feel. She wasn't happy. You just made that up in your head." The divine responds as she takes a step closer. Klaus clenches his fists, not wanting to believe that Cassandra wasn't happy with him.
"She couldn't feel because you sucked her soul from her body." Elijah snaps at her, not wanting his brother to get the blame since it was the divine who was the reason for Cassandra not being able to feel.
"You got me. She was gonna stuff me back in so I took something from her." She answers with a sickly smile on her lips. Elijah only shakes his head, noticing the white oak in her hand.
"You know you don't want to do this." Elijah says as he stares at the girl who tried to see if he was making a joke. Of course she wanted to do this, she needed them out of the way so they would stop trying to get her forced down into Cassandra's body.
She only laughs at them, she knew they didn't truly understand the power that she had. That she was going to have once she got rid of Cassandra altogether. "I have the white oak stake. I will easily kill you." Cassandra says as she stares at both of them, the brothers not even seeing a glimmer of regret in her eyes. "The question is, can you." She asks before tightening her grip on the stake. Klaus knew it was now or never to use the potion, otherwise she would be too far gone or they would be dead.
Klaus speeds over to her, hooking his arm around her neck. Cassandra gets momentum and flips him over her shoulder, going to put her foot on his chest as she grips the white oak stake in her hand. Elijah tackles her to the ground, the stake going flying as he tries to keep her down. Cassandra stares up at him before sending him up to the roof, making him hit the floor harshly. Klaus looks at Elijah who was barely moving for a moment before rushing over to Cassandra with the needle full of the potion Bonnie made.
Cassandra catches the needle that Klaus was going to put in her neck and twists his wrist making him drop it. She punches him repeatedly using her magic to give him an aneurysm. Elijah comes up behind her when she was too distracted, stabbing her in the back but she only yells out, using her powers to blast him back.
Elijah grabs her from behind, trapping her arms as Klaus rushes over and sends a punch to her face. This only makes her angrier as she sends her head back to hit Elijah, making his grip loosen. Twisting around she kicks him the stomach making him fly across the room before turning back to Klaus who only grabs onto her. Klaus yanks her head back, baring his teeth at her but she only punches him in the throat, sending him back. Cassandra kicks his stomach making him grunt, she goes for another but he grabs her leg, pulling her towards him and making her smack on the floor. Cassandra glares at him before she uses her magic to make all of the blood in his body tighten and suffocate him from the inside. Klaus falls to the ground, trying to grab onto her but she only breaks his arm, leaving him in pain. Klaus lays on his back, desperately trying to get his breath back. Elijah glares at Cassandra before speeding over to her and throwing her across the room. She only gets up, attacking him as she and Elijah battle for dominance, Cassandra feeling Elijah send a punch to her gut causing her to crunch over. Klaus slowly stands up, glancing over at his brother.
Elijah goes to stake her but she only catches his wrist and flips him to the ground. Cassandra smirks as she stares down at him.
Cassandra laughs as she flicks her wrist, her eyes staring down at Elijah. Elijah groans as he feels the bones break in his body, desperately trying to get free of her magic. Cassandra only kicks him, sending him flying back, the stake he had sliding towards the floor and hitting klaus's foot. Klaus glances down at it, picking it up and gripping it in his hand.
Klaus looks at the stake in his hand, his mind going through a million different scenarios before he remembered the conversation they had just a few days ago. On the day they were preparing for their wedding.
"Nik, I need you to promise me something." Cassandra says as she looks up at him, not ready to finish their conversation. Klaus looks down at her, nodding his head.
"Anything." He states as he watches her mind go through a million things and he was wondering what she was going to ask.
"If you know there is no way I can come back. If the darkness is going to take over me completely." She starts making him furrow his eyebrows but he nods, telling her to continue. "I need you to kill me." Cassandra almost says it in a whisper. Klaus didn't think he heard her right, not knowing why she would want him to kill her. "I know what you're going to say. But it's the only way. If it consumes me, you won't be able to kill me and our daughter will be in danger." She explains to him but he was still unsure, Klaus wasn't even sure that he would be able to kill her if it came to that.Β "Please, Nik. Promise me." Cassandra needed to hear him say it. Not to reassure her but to let her know that he loved her enough to end her misery.
Klaus stares at her, not even knowing what to say. He didn't want to promise her. Because that promising that there was a possibility that he would lose her. It wasn't fair. It wasn't fair that after so long they found each other, they had a daughter and now there was a chance that he could lose it all. But he knew he had to promise her. Cassandra needed that reassurance that she wasn't going get consumed by darkness. That she wasn't going to lose the little part of herself she had left. So he did. He knew he had to.
"I promise."
Klaus watches as Cassandra stands over Elijah with a smirk on her lips. Her eyes were complete darkness, his love was slipping away from him. Cassandra grips the white oak stake in her hand, raising it. Elijah groans, unable to muster up the strength to do anything. Cassandra laughs as she brings the stake down, Elijah staring at her hoping she would see him, see who he was. But all he could see was the complete void in Cassandra.
The stake nearly hits him but suddenly she is jolted to a stop. Her face contorting into one of pain, her eyes wide. Elijah furrows his eyebrows as he breathes heavily. His eyes move to what had stopped her. His brother.
Klaus had driven the stake into her chest, making her stop. Klaus had tears in his eyes, feeling nothing but heartbreak and pain as he saw the emotion flash through her eyes. Cassandra meets his eyes, a soft gasp leaving her lips. Klaus shakes as he feels the tears slip from his eyes as he holds the stake in her chest. Cassandra smiles at him, lifting her hand up to his cheek. Elijah walks over to the pair, his hand going on top of his brothers. Klaus cries, looking at Elijah who only nods at him. Elijah and Klaus both knew this was the only way they could end it. The only way Cassandra could be happy. Klaus takes in a deep breath, his eyes full of pain as he looks at Cassandra again. He could see in her eyes, the real Cassandra.
She could feel herself smile. Actually smile. Her emotions flood through her body as she stares back at her soulmate. Cassandra wished it didn't have to end like this, wishing there was any other way. But it was time. It was her time.
She lived a long life. She loved. Felt pain.. guilt.. regret.. basically any emotion you can think of Cassandra had felt in her lifetime. And she has hurt more people than anyone can imagine. This was her redemption. This is how she made the world safer for her daughter. Her beautiful daughter. She would be okay. She was better off without her. Without the danger Cassandra was to her.
Cassandra feels the wood pierce her heart making her gasp, staring at both of them. Veins slowly cover her body and before it could reach her eyes, they saw it in her eyes. Peace.
Footsteps run towards them and Elijah glances over to see that everyone had decided to go inside instead. But the sight they saw was not what they expected. Katherine screams as she covers her mouth, her back hitting Bonnie who holds the girl tightly. Rebekah cries out as she holds onto Stefan, not wanting to see the girl die. Everyone was shocked that this is how it ended up. But it was inevitable.
Klaus holds her close, dropping to the ground as Cassandra completely covered with the veins and gray skin. Elijah kneels down next to them, his hand resting on klaus's shoulder. He heard his brothers sobs, it was full of pain, Cassandra was his only love, they were supposed to get married today and now....
Cassandra Harrington lays lifeless in the arms of Klaus and Elijah Mikaelson. As I said, they would be the ultimate death of her.
