CHAPTER TWENTY-ONE
"I don't want an apology. I just want to see you die."

CASSANDRA WAS IN HER BEDROOM, she had decided to get changed because she realized that her clothes were still bloody. She sighs as she finishes brushing her hair, her tongue running over her bottom lip. She knew her humanity was on but she still felt so numb. The pain that she's dealt with, it made her not even want to show her feelings anymore. Her smile felt so forced no matter if people really believed that she was back. She didn't feel back. Her emotions were there she just only felt the pain in her stomach, feeling so alone even though she had everything.

A fiance. Friends. Family. She didn't feel like she was even present. Cassandra knew she could feel but she wasn't. Seeing Klaus, feeling him.. her heart beat for him but she couldn't allow herself to let his love in. She didn't know why. But she would give anything to feel how she did before everything happened. Maybe Silas was the problem that caused it. Maybe it was just because she was messed up.

But she would give anything to actually feel again. Not what she was right now. The numbing sensation of feeling. She never knew touch was so important until it didn't mean anything anymore. When she felt his touch, she couldn't feel it. There are two types of death. She already suffered the first but she still felt like she was dying. Parts of her were suffering and it was like she was dying over and over again. She wasn't lucky. She didn't escape it. Death wasn't kind to her.

Her baby. Cassandra thought maybe she would feel something towards her but there was nothing. Nothing but emptiness. She cried but those tears... They were tears of emotionless anger. Anger that no matter what, she couldn't feel. After screaming it all out, she was empty. Void of all emotion. Her switch was on but it didn't feel like it. She didn't know why. But maybe it was for the better. There was so much pain in her life that maybe this was her brains way of saying she was done. Her life served its purpose. She was at her expiration date.

Maybe she would feel again if she sacrificed herself for the greater good. If she finally did some good with her life instead of all the pain and misery she had caused. Maybe it was her redemption.

Cassandra was broken.

Cassandra jumps when she hears the knock on the door. Turning around, she meets her mom's eyes making her sigh, putting down her hairbrush. "Mom." She says before licking her bottom lip. "Nik sent you in didn't he?" Cassandra asks as she moves over to Helena who nods her head.

"You're pregnant now, cassandra. You can't be throwing yourself into a fight." Helena says and Cassandra only nods. She knew she was pregnant, people didn't keep having to bring it up. Cassandra knew she should protect her baby but she wanted to help everyone defeat the hunters.

"I did plenty of fights before." Cassandra points out as she was practically tortured while pregnant and her baby was still alive.

"Before when you had your magic protecting the baby." She tells her making Cassandra clench her jaw. Her magic. Something they made her lock up. She knew it was for the best but for some reason, it felt like the only thing that was real in her body.

"I'll be fine. I'm not just going to let my friends get killed." Cassandra assured her as she turns around, not about to let them tell her what she can or can't do.

"They'll be fine." Helena tells her in a soft tone until she gasps, being thrown into the wall. Cassandra turns around, looking at her mom before her eyes meet Hannah.

"Hello again, Cassandra." Hannah says with a smirk as she squints her eyes at the girl. Cassandra only clenches her fist together.

"What do you want?" Cassandra asks as a scoff leaves her lips. "An apology? Fine I'm sorry for killing you!" She states with a groan as she looks at Hannah who only shakes her head.

"I don't want an apology." Hannah says as she lifts her hand up, Cassandra falling to the ground and clutching her throat unable to breath. "I just want to see you die." She tells her with a smirk as she looks at Cassandra who was suffering on the ground.

"Please, I'm pregnant." Cassandra begs through a strained voice as she looks at Hannah. Hannah clenches her jaw, her eyes seeing some sort of emotion in her eyes. Hannah falters, letting go of her for just a second and that gives Cassandra just enough time to grab a spear and stab it through her. Hannah gasps, falling to the ground. Cassandra takes it out before raising it and stabbing it into her heart.

She heard footsteps running towards the room but she just continues to look down at Hannah. "What happened?" Klaus asks as he stares down at the dead body with a spear sticking out of her.

"You know people can still come get me right?" Cassandra asks before pulling the spear out and throwing it onto the ground. Klaus sighs as he walks over to her, putting his hands on her cheeks.

"Look, Damon is dealing with the hunters, Rebekah dealt with hers.. just stay here." Klaus says as he sighs, looking into her eyes. Cassandra clenches her jaw but nods even though she didn't want to stay couped up in a room.

"Fine." She says as she glanced down at her hands. "Is Kol back?" Cassandra asks and Klaus only frowns not meeting her eyes and she knew exactly what they meant. "I never even got to say goodbye. Again." She didn't even feel anything as she said that. Kol was gone and all she could do was stare blankly.

"Come here." Klaus whispers as he pulls in into a hug. Cassandra wraps her arms around him but her eyes stay void while staring at the wall in front of her.

"I'm glad you found your happiness, Cassandra." Helena says as Cassandra pulls away from Klaus. Cassandra nods her head as she flickers her eyes from Klaus to her mom.

"I'm glad you got to meet him." She replies as she feels Klaus rubbing her back. Cassandra clears her throat, trying to look the slightest bit happy.

"No matter what you think, I'll always be proud of you. I'll always love you." Helena explains to her with a bright smile on her face. Cassandra looks at her, nodding her head.

"I love you too, mom." Cassandra says with a smile and when they look away her smile drops. Her eyes moving to the mirror as she stares at herself. She didn't even recognize herself anymore.

EVERYONE WAS GATHERED IN THE LIVING ROOM, almost not believing that everything was over. Cassandra sat next to Klaus, his hand in hers, stroking it lightly. Damon sighs happily as he sits back on the chair, downing the drink he had in his hand. Since Bonnie put the veil back up, they were free to get rid of Silas which is what Stefan was gone to do. All their problems were gone and it honestly scared them. They never had no problems before.

"So, Silas is gone. The veil is back up.. what do we do now?" Cassandra asks as she raises an eyebrow at the group. Everyone shrugged, not really knowing what to do. They could anything they wanted really.

"Well we never actually got to hang out." Kol points out making everyone snap their heads over to him standing by the door.

"Oh, my god." Rebekah mumbles as she couldn't believe that he was actually in front of them.

"Kol?" Cassandra asks and the man only nods his head with a soft smile.  "H-how is this possible." She questions, staring at him but he only shrugs his shoulders.

"Bonnie brought me back." He states as his eyes flash with sadness. Bonnie made him promise not to tell them. Not to tell them she was dead. Because of him. "I'm here, Cassandra." Kol says as he takes himself out of his thoughts. Cassandra walks over to him, suddenly getting engulfed in a hug making her wrap her arms around him.

"Two hugs in one day, this is a record." Cassandra says, hearing him laugh before pulling away. Kol nods as he stares at her. Suddenly he feels a pain in his cheek and he realized that she had slapped him.

"That was for not saying goodbye." Cassandra says making Kol smile at her before noticing the tears in her eyes. He sighs as he lifts his hand up to her cheek. Cassandra thought if she made herself cry, an emotion would pop up.. she was wrong.

"Don't cry. You're supposed to be happy I'm here." Kol points out with a laugh making her laugh back, nodding.

"I am. I really am." Cassandra admits before moving away from Kol so everyone else could have their time with him. Elijah flickers his eyes to her, his eyebrows furrowed as he noticed her eyes go void, the tears seemingly drying up.

"Great, we're stuck with you again." Rebekah grumbles but she was happy to see her brother and couldn't contain her smile.

"Oh, please. You love me." Kol tells her, matching her smile before his eyes drift to his brothers. "At least I know Nik actually cares about me. Trying to avenge my death? I'm honored."Kol says as he plants his hand on his chest. Klaus only shakes his head, getting up and walking over to him.

"It won't happen next time." Klaus points out making Kol roll his eyes a little bit but Klaus brings him into a hug. Kol wasn't expecting it but he hugged his brother back.

"Can I join in on the party?" Katherine asks as she shuts the door behind her. Cassandra looks at her, seeing Katherine's eyes light up when they met each other's eyes.

"Katherine." Rebekah says, still a little bit of hatred in her voice but maybe if she got to know the girl she would end up liking her.

"I would've been here sooner but I ran into an Elena problem." Katherine tells them and. She sees the curious looks on their faces.  "She tried to force feed me the cure so I shoved it down her throat instead." Katherine explains with a smirk playing on her lips, spinning around. Everyone was shocked by her statement, processing her words.

"Elena's human again?" Cassandra asks making Katherine nod with a victorious smile on her face.

"And I'm not." Katherine states as she looks at Elijah for a moment, smiling at him before she glances around the room curiously. "Why do I hear a heartbeat." She asks as last time she checked, none of them were human. Her eyes move to Cassandra who only had her hand on here stomach. "Oh, ew gross. I don't want that image in my head." Katherine admits making cassandra roll her eyes, laughing.

"Katerina." Elijah warns her making her glance at him before her her eyes land on Klaus suspiciously.

"Are you really stopping your vengeance against me." Katherine didn't believe it until he said it to her face. Klaus was obviously hesitant by his eyes move to Cassandra for a moment.

"I am." Klaus states making Katherine smirk as she knew that she could finally stop running.

"You can thank me." Cassandra says making Katherine turn to her, letting out a sigh of relief.

"Ugh, this is why I love you." Katherine says with a smile as she pulls the girl in for a hug. Cassandra puts on a smile as she knew people were looking at her.  "Now, are we celebrating or not?" She asks and everyone agrees with her, immediately conversing among each other. Cassandra only glances towards the mirror next to her. Her eyes staring into her own soul. Or what she thought was her soul. She didn't feel anything there. Maybe that was her problem. Cassandra was hoping she would see something, anything, even just a slimmer of an emotion but she only saw a soulless version of herself looking back at her.

And it made her feel lost.

it was a short chapter but it was a closure because with that. season 4 is complete!
