CHAPTER FIVE
"He told me you were having doubts about choosing me."

"CASSANDRA?" SHE HEARD THE FAINT VOICE AS SHE BEGAN TO REGAIN CONSCIOUSNESS, laying on the floor in her house. "Hey." The voice was still a little in and out as she groans, rubbing her eyes a little bit. "You're okay." She didn't feel okay in the slightest, she felt like she was hit by a bus repeatedly. "Easy." He tells her as she tries to sit up, knowing she was still a little weak.
"Stefan?" Cassandra asks as she meets his concerned eyes. Stefan offering a small smile towards her. "What are you doing here?" She asks confused before her mind is flooded with the memories of what happened before she had lost consciousness.
"Klaus called me. He actually sounded worried so I knew you were in trouble." Stefan explains to her with a sigh as he rubs her leg, trying to keep her calm. Cassandra was sad that it wasn't Klaus who came to her rescue but she was glad to know that the Salvatore's still cared about her, even if it was just a little.
"Wheres--" She goes to ask but she could already tell by the look on their faces that Connor had escaped.
"He's gone." Damons voice rings out through her ears making her glance over to see him on the other side of her. He was with Stefan when he got the frantic call so of course he was going to come with him to see if she was okay. "Hey, Cass." He gives a small smile as he didn't know if she was gonna be angry or happy that he was there. She stayed neutral, giving him a little nod in acknowledgement.
"I fed you some blood when I got here so you should've healed, and we got the bullets out." Stefan explains to her with a small smile as he rubs her shoulder. Cassandra groans as she goes to sit up but suddenly grasps at her stomach.
"Woah." Damon catches her as she goes to fall forward, her face scrunching up in pain making him share a worried glance with Stefan.
"It hurts!" She screams out, gripping her stomach as she rolls onto her side. "Make it stop!" She pleads them as tears fall from her eyes, the pain unbearable as she felt it spread throughout her body. Stefan furrows his eyebrows as he lifts up her shirt where she was grasping only to show a swirl with stars surrounding it carved into her stomach.
"What the hell is that?" Damon asks, grimacing as he bends down to get a better look at it.
"Call Bonnie, now." Stefan demands as he stares at his brother who only nods and decides to text Bonnie since he knew that she would definitely answer after seeing it was from him.
"Cassandra!" They hear voices shout, looking over to see two people who they had never seen before, running over to where Cassandra was laying in pain. "What the hell did you do to her?" Octavia yells at them as she was ready to attack them for putting their hands on her best friend.
"Who the hell are you?" Damon scoffs as he stares at the two unknown faces that burst into the room.
"Her friends. Who are you?" Octavia sasses back as she crossed her arms against her chest. Damon rolls his eyes as he knew that wasn't true.
"I've never seen you before so I know that's not true." He tells them making Octavia raise an eyebrow as a scoff leaves her lips, she couldn't believe that he was trying to challenge her.
"I'm older than you, Damon Salvatore." She responds, catching the man a little off guard which makes her smirk. Nathan only rolls his eyes as he seemed to be the only one actually focused on Cassandra.
"Wait.. Nathan and Octavia?" Stefan asks a little hesitantly, as he looks between them. "Caroline told me you were here." He adds whenever he saw them give a slight nod. Caroline mentioned that she had two friends that came to visit her.
"What happened?" Nathan asks them as his eyes ran down Cassandra's body, taking in the multiple wounds and the mark on her stomach.
"The hunter happened." Damon tells them with a sigh as he runs his hand through the girls hair. Cassandra meets his eyes and she could tell that he was genuinely worried about her. No matter what happened between them, they still cared for each other. She just wished Elena didn't ruin the friendship she had made with the Salvatore's.
"Have either of you seen this mark before?" Stefan asks the siblings who both hesitate a little bit, wishing that they did know the answer because they hated seeing Cassandra in pain.
"No." Nathan answers as he shakes his head with a sigh. Stefan clenches his jaw as he knew that if they didn't know then there was no chance that Bonnie did.
"Oh, my god! What happened?" Carolines voice rings out through the house as she rushes over to where everyone was huddled around Cassandra's body.
"You all come to my rescue after I'm almost killed." Cassandra makes a joke but the pain makes her groan as she grabs at her stomach. Everyone didn't appreciate her humor as they all give her slight glares. "Look, I appreciate you all being here but I can wait for Bonnie alone." She tells them, wanting none of them to see her in pain. Everyone doesn't move, not wanting to leave her by herself. "Please just let me be alone." She begs a little more, giving them all a look. They sigh, nodding at her instructions but Caroline only frowns.
"Let me at least take you upstairs." She interjects with a hopeful gleam in her eyes. Cassandra only nods her head and takes a hold of Caroline's arm. She speeds them into the bedroom, carefully setting her down on the bed. "Im so sorry." She says as she was guilty that she hadn't been with the girl who seemed to have been going through a lot today.
"For what?" Cassandra asks as she tries to get comfortable on the bed but everytime she does there is a sharp pain in her abdomen.
"If I wasn't so angry with Tyler, I would've been here--" Caroline tried to apologize but Cassandra didn't blame her for having her mind elsewhere. She was glad no one else had been hurt other than Klaus's hybrid.
"No, Caroline don't blame yourself." She says as she grabs the girls hand, giving it a squeeze. "You would've been killed if you were." She adds making Caroline glance down at the ground, sniffling a little bit. Footsteps approach them quickly until the door bursts open and Bonnie comes running in.
"Bonnie." Cassandra says as she smiles, glad that she had come to help her. She was sort of thinking that maybe Elena had stopped her since Elena hates her guts but Bonnie seemed to really care for Cassandra.
"Cassandra, oh my god." She gasps out as she rushes towards the bed and takes one look at the girls rugged state. There was clear pain in her eyes as she tries to stop whatever was happening to her.
"Help me, please." Cassandra begs as she holds her stomach, her face scrunching up at the pain. Caroline gives the girls hand another squeeze before leaving them alone. Bonnie looks at the symbol that Stefan had told her was carved into her stomach but she didnt recognize it from any of the grimoires that she had read.
"I don't know what the symbol is but I can do some research." Bonnie suggests making Cassandra nod but she was hoping the girl would've know so she couldve just gotten rid of it. "Until then I can try to take the pain away, okay?" She says as she puts her hands on the girls stomach and mutters a spell with her eyes closed. Cassandra felt the pain subtly subside although there was still a little bit of tension where the mark was.
"Thank you." She tells the girl as she reaches her hand out towards the girl. Bonnie nods as she helps Cassandra sit up.
"Get some rest, unless you wanna shower first." Bonnie says as she takes in Cassandra's outfit. It didn't take a genius to figure out that most of the blood wasn't hers or Connors. Cassandra gulps as she glanced down her body.
"You think I'm a monster " She mumbles as she knew Bonnie never liked when vampires killed people. Bonnie sighs as she notices the saddened expression on the girls face. She knew Cassandra felt guilty about what she did.
"No, I don't." Bonnie assures her as she shakes her head, walking towards her and taking the girls hand. Cassandra was surprised by her response as she meets Bonnie's kind eyes. "I think you're a girl who's been through way too much trauma to not lash out every once in a while." She explains as she rubs the girls hand before offering a small smile. Cassandra returns it as she nods her head a little bit. "Do you want help?" Bonnie asks as she didn't know if the girl was able to get her bloody clothes off by herself without feeling awful. Cassandra nods her head a little and follows Bonnie towards the bathroom where she starts the shower. The girl turns to Cassandra and brings her hands towards the girls shirt. Cassandra lifts her arms, giving Bonnie free reign to lift the shift off. Tossing the blood clothing on the floor, Cassandra shakily goes for her pants but Bonnie stops her, honestly feeling bad for the girl. After helping get the rest of it off, Cassandra is left in her undergarments, blood still coating her skin. "Are you okay from here?" She questions as she didn't want to step over any boundaries. Cassandra nods, silently thanking Bonnie for being there for her. Bonnie smiles before taking the clothing and leaving her alone in the bathroom.
Cassandra takes off her underwear before getting into the shower and letting the warm water hit her skin. She could see the red water pooling around her feet and tears well up in her eyes. She hadn't meant to lose control, she didn't want to but she could stop herself. Cassandra knew she should get help, from Bonnie, Caroline, even the Salvatore's would be worried about her if she told them. But she didn't want to be a burden on anyone. Running her hands through her hair and around her body, she tries to wash all of the blood off her body. She sniffles, wishing her life was much more simpler, wishing she hadn't turned into such a monster. Let the darkness in. A whisper echoes throughout the bathroom. Cassandra stops what she is doing, thinking she just imagined someone talking. Glancing around, she didn't see anyone else in there with her. Thinking nothing of if, she goes back to washing herself until it happens again. You are nothing without it. Gasping she spins around again only to be left with an empty bathroom.
"Bonnie?" Cassandra calls out, hoping it was the girl messing with her for some reason but she it didn't sound like Bonnie but she was hoping that if was, because she didn't want to think there was something actually wrong with her.
"Yeah?" Bonnie peaks her head into the bathroom, a curious expression on her face. Cassandra had gotten out of the shower, her robe wrapped around her.
"Did you say something?" She asks confused making Bonnie just stare at her for a minute. She hadn't heard anything other than the shower running.
"No, why?" Bonnie asks as she furrows her eyebrows, looking around the bathroom. Cassandra only gives a tight smile as she shakes her head, not wanting to worry the girl.
"Nothing." She says making Bonnie stare at her for a little longer before leaving the bathroom. Cassandra takes a deep breath, looking at herself in the mirror. She was just hearing things. Nothing was wrong. Turning the sink on, Cassandra bends down to splash water on her face. A sigh leaves her lips as she turns the water off, standing back up and looking in the mirror. A gasp leaves her lips as she is met with a graying woman behind her with a sickly smile on her face. Looking close... It was herself. Cassandra turns around only to see nothing behind her. She shakes her head as she rushes towards the door and out into the bedroom, her heart racing. Why had she seen herself in the mirror, and why had it been so.. so dead-like. Hearing a second voice in the bedroom, she looks up, noticing Bonnie standing with her back towards her as she talks to someone.
"Who are you talking to?" Cassandra asks as she catches the witches attention. Bonnie stops talking, turning around to look at the girl with a light smile on her face.
"Someone stopped by for a visit." Bonnie tells her making Cassandra glance at her confused before she takes a couple steps to see the person standing in front of Bonnie. A little gasp leaves her lips as she stares at the person who was in the room with them.
"Elijah." She says as she stares at the man who was standing by the door. Elijah offers a kind smile back to her, knowing she was shocked that he was even in Mystic falls.
"Hello, Cassandra."
β’Β°β’Β°β’Β°β’Β°β’Β°β’Β°β’Β°β’Β°β’Β°β’Β°β’Β°β’
CASSANDRA FELT A LITTLE BIT OF COMFORT SEEING ELIJAH STANDING IN FRONT OF HER. She believed that he would've not wanted to see her for at least a decade after what she did. After breaking his heart. Elijah wasn't one to hold that against her though. He knew of the chances of not being the one to get her but he wasn't going to let that stop him from being there for her, especially when she was hurt. He didn't care if Klaus didn't like it. He spent more time with Cassandra and deserved to at least have a friendship with her.
"What are you doing here?" Cassandra asks after a moment of silence, seeing Bonnie leave them alone to talk. Elijah had his hands in his suit pockets, clearing his throat as there was a bit of awkward tension in the air.
"Well, I came to visit but then I learned you were attacked so I came straight here." Elijah explains to her as his eyes wander over her, looking for any obvious injuries that he couldn't seem to see which was a good sign.
"You didn't have to come." Cassandra felt bad that he probably stopped everything to come see her but she was also curious why he even decided to come back to visit.
"I wanted to." He replied with a smile as he glances down at the ground. Cassandra nods with a sigh, knowing they would have been closer if they decided to not go past a friendship. He still wants you. They both do. You could use it to your advantage but instead you let love happen. How pathetic. Cassandra snaps her head behind her, her eyebrows furrowed as she glanced around the room quickly. "Are you okay?" Elijah asks, snapping her out of her thoughts, Cassandra still confused whos voice she was hearing.
"Yeah, fine." She brushes it off as she turns back to Elijah who was staring at her concerned, wondering why she had suddenly went quiet.
"Don't lie to me Cassandra." Elijah scolds as he didn't want her to lie about anything towards him, even if they weren't that close anymore.
"I'm just hearing things." She says quickly, not wanting to worry him a lot since it was probably just her mind playing tricks on her.
"You're hearing things? Like what?" Elijah asks as he was worried that something bad had happened to her when he was gone.
"It's probably nothing, I just want to sleep before the pain comes back." She dismissed him as she walks over to the bed and gets on it, laying down. Elijah follows her, sitting on the edge.
"Can I see?" He asks as he gestures towards her stomach where Bonnie had explained that was where the mark was. Cassandra nods as she opens her robe a little bit to show off the mark. Elijahs eyes were trained on it. "I've never seen anything like it." Elijah mumbles as he stares at it curiously, wondering what it was and what it meant for her.
"What do you think it means?" Cassandra asks as she closes up her robe, crosses her arms over her body.
"I'm not sure." Elijah answers truthfully before meeting her eyes, noticing the pain in them. "Does it hurt?" He asks as he moves close to her, in his mind wondering why it wasn't Klaus tending to her.
"A little. Bonnie took alot of the pain away." She explains as she rests her head back on the pillow. Elijah nods his head as he clears his throat.
"That's good. Well, I'll leave you to rest." He tells her before getting up and going to leave but Cassandra didn't want him to leave.
"Elijah?" She calls out causing the man to stop in his place and glance back at her. "Can you stay with me?" She asks gently as she moves over to make room for him in the bed. Elijah wasn't going to leave her alone when she was in pain.
"Of course." He replied before heading over to her and climbing into the bed next to her. Cassandra snuggles over and rests her head on top of his chest.
"Do you think I made the wrong choice?" She asks out of the blue catching him off guard as he looks down at her curiously. "He keeps breaking my trust, Elijah." Cassandra tells him with a sigh as she cuddles into him, Elijah rubbing her back.
"I know. But are you gonna regret it in fifty years time that you didn't stick by him?" Elijah asks as he was thinking of the long term affects if she did end up leaving his brother.
"I don't know." She was honestly confused, not knowing whether or not she would truly be happy if she did end up staying with Klaus.
"Think about that first before you doing anything rash." Elijah tells her as he rubs her back, pulling her closer in hopes of getting her to fall asleep.
"I'm sorry I hurt you." She apologized as she knew she had cause him such heartbreak whenever she had told him that she chose his brother.
"I know." Elijah tells her with a smile as he presses a kiss on the top of her head. Cassandra nudges her head up so she was staring at his eyes.
"You are the better guy. The right choice." Cassandra tells him with a sigh as she lifts her hand to stroke his cheek. "Why couldn't my heart see that?" She asks him as she gets closer to him, a genuine expression on her face. Your heart is weak. Don't let your heart get in the way. Cassandra was slightly taken aback by the sudden thought as she tries to focus on what Elijah was saying.
"Because your heart may want me but it needs Niklaus." Elijah answers her, it paining him to do so but he knew it was the right thing to do and to say to her.
"What if I want you." Cassandra pipes up as she sits up, half straddling his waist making his eyes widen lightly. You know you want to. Elijah clears his throat as he tries to push away from her.
"Where is this all coming from?" He asks as he feels her hand move down his chest, her eyes fluttering to his as a small smirk forms on her lips. Look at the effect you have on him, you could be so powerful.
"I don't know. Nik dying, I think that fogged my mind of making the right decision. It took me almost dying to realize that maybe it wasn't the right choice." She explains to him as she bites her bottom lip, her eyes hooded as she stares at his lips.
"You just need to rest, we'll talk more tomorrow." Elijah says as he tries to move but she catches his collar, keeping him in place. He wants it.
"Elijah." She whispers, catching his attention as he saw how close they were. Kiss him. Cassandra stares at Elijah, inching closer to him. You don't need anyone. Kiss him. You want to hurt him. She didn't know why she was getting closer to Elijah, her body was involuntarily doing so. Luckily Elijah backs up, shaking his head and putting his hand on her shoulder to stop her.
"Cassandra, you know you'll regret it." Elijah tells her, not knowing what got into her head where she thought she should kiss him while being with his brother. Cassandra shakes her head as she tilts her head. He hurt you. Do it.
"I just want him to stop hurting me." Cassandra says as she puts her hand on Elijah's cheek as hovers her lips over his. Elijah clears his throat as he grabs her hand, pushing her lightly away from him.
"But hurting him in return doesn't give you anything, it just makes you the same as him." Elijah states as he tries to look into her eyes to see what was going on inside of her head. Cassandra all of a sudden deflates back to where she was, nodding her head.
"I know." She replies, looking down at the bed as her mind was running at a hundred miles per hour. Cassandra had to snap her brain out of it. Why was she going to kiss Elijah. She didn't want to. She didn't want to use him. She didn't want to hurt Klaus. She didn't want to lead them on. So why did she try to kiss him.
β’Β°β’Β°β’Β°β’Β°β’Β°β’Β°β’Β°β’Β°β’Β°β’Β°β’Β°β’
WAKING UP ABRUPTLY, Cassandra felt the pain subside a little bit but it was still inside of her. Groaning, she rubs her head and looks around only to see the room completely empty.Β "Elijah?" She calls out as she was hoping that maybe he was just down the hall or in the bathroom but he didn't show up when she asked. You are destined for evil. Cassandra furrows her eyebrows as she looks around again, hoping she could finally put a face to the voice in her head.
"Hello?" She asks as she gets up from the bed, hoping that someone else would come into the room and hear what she was. Stop fighting it. You are darkness in the flesh. She gasps a little as she is met with a ghostly picture of herself in the mirror. She didn't look like herself at all. Was everything taking a toll on her or was she just hungry. Cassandra couldn't tell anymore.
"Cassandra, hey. What's wrong?" A voice asks from the doorway causing her to turn away from the mirror to see Klaus gazing at her curiously with a concerned expression on his face.
"Nik?" She asks, almost worried that he wasn't actually there. It wouldn't surprise her if she had made up his imagine in her head.
"Yeah, love." He answers her with a nod making an audible sigh leave her lips. Rushing over to him, she envelopes him in a hug catching him a little off guard since last time they were together, she was mad at him. Nonetheless, he accepts the hug, rubbing her back as he plants a kiss on the side of her head.
"Something's wrong with me." She tells him as she grasps onto him, not wanting to let go. Klaus was confused as he pulls away a little to be able to see her face.
"What are you talking about?" Klaus asks he brushed her hair back, gazing at her lovingly as he wanted to know what was going on because she usually got closed off instead.
"I-i-- hear voices and see things and there are these thoughts in my head, telling me to do things that I shouldn't." She explains to him as tears well up in her eyes. Cassandra wanted to tell Klaus that she tried to kiss Elijah but she didn't think he would understand that it was like her body was forcing her.
"Is it because of the mark?" Klaus asks as he sits her down on the bed, rubbing her back as he could tell that she was worried and frankly he was too.
"I don't know, Nik." She didn't know why she had that mark or why she was hearing things or why she was so messed up. Cassandra wanted to figure it all out.
"Here, let me see it." Klaus says as he nudges her robe a little bit to expose her stomach. But what it revealed was something neither of them expected.
"It's gone." Cassandra says almost breathless as she stares at her skin which didn't have any ounce of evidence that the mark even existed.
"Well, the hunter is dead so maybe it disappeared because the person who marked you died." He tries to reason as he truly did not know why the mark just suddenly disappeared from her body if it had been there for so long.
"But then why am I still hearing things?" She asks as she didn't want to hear anything, she didn't want to see anything. She just wanted to be back to normal.
"I don't know, love." Klaus answers honestly as he didn't even know what she was hearing so it was hard to come up with an answer. "Bonnie's trying to figure out what it was." He adds making Cassandra nod a little bit but she knew it was going to take days if not weeks to find the mark. "What are you hearing?" He asks but she didn't want to tell him. Instead she shakes her head, dismissing his question and instead asking one of her own.
"Did you see Elijah?" She asks curiously as she glanced at him. Klaus sighs, nodding his head as he had ran into his brother as soon as he got home.
"I did." He answers before clearing his throat. "He told me you were having doubts about choosing me." Klaus says, his voice cracking a little bit as he knew now that his actions really did have an affect. He was surprised Elijah told him but his brother was loyal, he couldn't deny that.
"I just want you to stop lying to me, to stop using my trust and stop causing pain in my life. We are supposed to love each other, Nik. And it doesn't feel like you do. It feels like you use me to your advantage." Cassandra explains as she sighs, playing with her fingers as she didn't want to look him in the eye right now.
"I'm sorry if it feels that way." Klaus apologizes, a small frown on his lips as he didn't realize that he was giving off that impression. "But I do love you, Cassandra. I'm so in love with you that I feel like my brain wants to push you away because I don't want you to leave me again. So creating that distance myself... It won't hurt so much when you do." He tries to tell her, knowing that Elijah very well was the better choice but she chose him and now he had to live up to those expectations.
"But don't you see?" She asks catching his attention, he didn't realize that the things he's doing, are the reason she would leave him. "I would leave you because of the things you are doing to push me away." She explains making him glance down at the bed as he takes in her words. "Nik, I love you. I want to be with you. I just need you to allow yourself to fully love me back." Cassandra finishes as she pressed a soft kiss to his lips, Klaus still trying to fully process those words. Cassandra suddenly turns her head, her eyes widening as she hears the voice yet again.
He doesn't love you. No one will. Wouldn't you rather like power than love.
"Cassandra?" Klaus gets her back, stroking her cheek as she seemed to finally snap back to reality. "Did you hear something." He asks and she just brushes him off, not wanting to get into it.
"I'm sorry." She apologized making Klaus furrow his eyebrows, he should be the one apologizing not her. "If I hadn't been so out of it, I could've taken the hunter down and he wouldn't be dead." Cassandra explains, leaving out the part where she completely lost control. She could only explain one problem at a time.
"Or you would've been killed." Klaus tells her as he sighs, knowing he should've been here to protect her but he was out looking for the stupid sword. "Maybe it's for the best that he's dead." He states as he pulls her closer, kissing her cheek.
"Don't you want the cure?" She asks curiously as he was so hell bent on getting it because he could make more hybrids if Elena was human.
"Not if it means that I lose you." Klaus says as he brushes her cheek with his finger. Cassandra smiles lightly as she leans into him. Pressing her lips gently against his, she kisses him softly. Klaus kisses back, tucking her hair behind her ear. Pulling away, she offers a gentle smile before her face contorts into one of curiousity.
"Have you ever thought about.. taking the cure?" She asks hesitantly, knowing it was a touchy subject and Klaus had always had a hatred for humans.
"Why would I want to take it?" He says with a chuckle as he raises an eyebrow at her. Klaus wouldn't become human even if it saved him from imminent death. Who would want to be so weak?
"There isn't one ounce of you that wants to become human?" She tries again, hoping that maybe there was just a small part of him that did want to be with her as a human and grow old together.
"I'm the most powerful creature on this planet, why would I want to become a pathetic excuse of a human." Klaus states as he shrugs his shoulders, not understanding why she was asking this. It hits him that she was probably having some thoughts about the cure since it's been revealed. "Have you thought about it?" He asks with furrowed eyebrows as he searches her eyes for an answer.
"I don't know.. I just..." she trails off, afraid to reveal her truth as she was afraid this would make or break their relationship. "I always wanted a family, I wanted to do better than my father but then all those choices were taken from me." She explains to him and he nods his head, understanding but part of him hated that she thought about this type of life. "I want a family, Nik. But I can't have that." Cassandra finishes sadly as she gazed at him but she sees the hurt flash through his eyes.
"We are a family, love." Klaus tries to state but she only shakes her head. Sure they were together, but it wasn't the family that she wanted.
"You know what I mean." She tells him softly as she teaches for his hand but he pulls it away from her causing her to frown and feel her heart ache.
"So if there's a cure.. you would take it?" Klaus asks, already knowing what she was going to say but a part of him wanted her to say the opposite of what he thought but he knew it wasn't going to happen.
"Yes." She answers almost inaudible but Klaus hears her, his eyes leaving hers. Cassandra goes to move towards him but he only stands up and leaves the room causing her to sigh and rub her face. "Did I just ruin it?" She asks Elijah who had shown up a second after Klaus had barged out of the room.
"No. He just needs time to process it." Elijah tells her as he knew his brother just needed to unwind and wrap his head around it all. It was a big change. "Do you really want to become human?" He asks as he sits next to her and she knew he wanted the answer as well.
"I-i-- do." Cassandra stumbles over her words, feeling like she was committing a crime for even thinking about becoming human. "I barely got to live before I turned. I want to grow old, have those last experiences, have a family, be... Vulnerable." She explains to him, frowning at the thought of doing that with something that isn't Klaus. But it was impossible.
"I understand." Elijah says as he nods his head, staring back at her, trying not to fall into the depths of her eyes. Because even though Cassandra chose Klaus, his feelings for her weren't just going to magically disappear.
"Would you take it?" Cassandra asks causing Elijah to glance at her curiously. "The cure." She clarifies making Elijah stay silent for a moment. He didn't really know the answer as he never really sat to himself and thought there ever was a cure.
"I never really thought about it." Elijah says as he furrows his eyebrows a little bit. "I think I would take it under consideration." He answers honestly as he thinks to himself for a moment. Elijah never thought about being human, he hadn't been human in so long that he forgot what it might mean if he did.
"If you had a chance to grow old with someone you love, have their kids, spend your last moments with them... Would you take it?" She asks hesitantly as she stares into his eyes, silently hoping that he gave her a better answer than Klaus.
"Yes." Elijah answers after a second, knowing truthfully, deep down that he would in the end, want to become human again. Maybe that was his way of being with Cassandra as he knew Klaus would never want to give up his power. "But I doubt the cure even exists. Even without the map, someone should have found it by now." He explains as he sighs, knowing that it was most likely just a myth, like the one he and Klaus started about the sun and the moon curse.
"Yeah..." She trails off as she plays with her fingers. Cassandra knew Klaus wasn't going to take it lightly that she did want to take the cure. He probably thought that she was perfectly happy being a vampire but in all truth, she wasn't. She would give anything to become a human again, even if it meant losing him.
