CASSANDRA STOOD IN ELENA'S KITCHEN, listening to Stefan and Damon as they explained that they had gone to see Katherine. Were they really that stupid thinking that she would just hand it over? It was her leverage over them and her way to get out of that stupid tomb. Cassandra was honestly ready to just free Katherine, she knew plenty of witches who could do the spell. But of course, the Scooby Doo gang would know it was her.
She had been thinking about Elijah most of the time. Cassandra wanted to talk to him, to give him a try but she was afraid she lost his trust. She did break his heart after all. But she was also worried that she couldn't love him like she did with Klaus. Cassandra was so in love with Klaus that she didn't see anybody else, she wanted that with Elijah. But she didn't know what would happen if she didn't feel that or if Klaus did ever find them.
"You don't believe her, do you?" Elena asks with a scoff as she hears Katherine's excuses. No way in a million years would they ever believe one word that came out of the Petrova's mouth. Damon shakes his head automatically as he hears the girls question. Of course Katherine only cared about getting out of the tomb but they needed to get the moonstone from her.
"No, of course not. We just want the moonstone." Damon tells her as he nudges Cassandra's shoulder as she was zoning out of the conversation. The girl glances over at the raven haired man, noticing the slight concerned expression on his face.
"According to Rose's friend Slater, there's a way to destroy the curse that Klaus wants to break." Stefan informs them making Cassandra internally roll her eyes. There was no easy way to break that curse, it was either a trap or some dumbass who was just taking a guess.
"If there was a way, I would know." Cassandra tells them with a sigh, gaining the attention of the others in the room. "There has to be more to it than he is letting on." She adds as her and Elena share a glance, both knowing that it was a stretch trusting this Slater guy.
"So, what? No spell, no doppleganger sacrifice." Damon states the obvious with a sarcastic smile on his face. Elena rolls her eyes a little bit as she knew it wouldn't be that easy to destroy a very old curse.
"Or you could take the easy way out." Cassandra points out with a risen eyebrow, holding her wrist out to Elena who only gulps. The Salvatore's send the girl a glare, hating her for even suggesting something like that.
"That is not an option. I don't want to be.. a--" Elena cuts herself off, not really wanting to say it. She knew being human would not last long with Stefan since he was a vampire but she had no desire of ever becoming one.
"A vampire. You can say it Elena, it's not a bad word." Cassandra jokes with a smirk on her face but the others didn't find it as funny. Suddenly her phone starts to ring causing her to groan, wondering who needed her to solve a problem now. "Pass me my phone." She demands Elena who does what she says to do. Cassandra glances down at the contact, her eyebrows furrowing at the name Jack for a moment. Until it suddenly hit her, Jack was what she had jokingly called Klaus for a month after he was jealous of a man that had been flirting with her. It could be a stretch but she couldn't take any chances.
"Anyone we know?" Damon asks as he squints his eyes a little bit at her odd behaviour.
"Just an old friend." Cassandra answers him before declining the call. She didn't want to believe it was Klaus who was calling her because that would mean he was close to finding her but she knew it was.
"This is incredible." Elena gasps as she stares at a painting she had taken out of Cassandra's bag. It was on a really old piece of paper but the girl had been alive for a while so it made sense. Cassandra furrows her eyebrows as she didn't understand why the doppleganger had gasped.
"Huh?" She asks as she turns her head to look at what Elena was seeing but her face instantly dropped when she did. Elena was holding the painting Klaus had painted of her back in the 1300's.
"Forever yours, Nik---" Elena starts to read when suddenly Cassandra is next to her, ripping the paper out of the girls hands. Elena stumbles back a little, scared a little of the woman in front of her.
"Don't go through my stuff." Cassandra hisses at the girl as she puts the painting back into her bag. Elena gulps as she didn't expect the girl to get that angry at her. The painting was incredible and she just wanted to get a better look at it.
"I'm sorry, I was just curious." Elena frowns a little as she fiddles with her fingers but Cassandra only glares at the girls apology. The brunette shares a glance with Stefan and Damon who were both quite shocked by the girls sudden attitude change. "Who's Nik?" She asks as her eyes cast towards the ground for a moment but when she tries to look at Cassandra, the girl only avoids her eye contact. It took a moment for Elena to put the pieces together. "Klaus? You kept this from Klaus?" Elena gasps out as her eyes widen, her mouth gaping open at the girl. The Salvatore's were also surprised at the mention that Cassandra still had something from Klaus. They thought she hated the man.
"You don't know what you're talking about." Cassandra immediately denies as she zips up her bag, glaring daggers at the doppleganger. When would she stop trying to pry her way into other people's business?
"You have a painting from him. Why did you keep it?" She questions, trying to understand why the painting wasn't burned. If Klaus was as bad as she said he was, then she should've burned the painting a long time ago.
"You don't understand Elena." Cassandra tells her, anger seeping through her tone. Elena was just a human, she didn't get what getting your heart broken by someone you loved for centuries felt like. "You've never had the love of your life turn into something completely different. You've never had your heart ripped from your chest or been lied to for over two centuries. You don't know what that does to a person." She snaps at the girl who can't help but feel bad for Cassandra. Klaus had completely broken her and she had to figure out how to mend herself from it. "Yes, I keep the stupid drawing because no matter how much I try to hate him with everything I have, there is still that slight part of me that is in love with the version of him that I made up in my head. That painting helps me hold onto what little humanity I have left." She explains as a single tear rolls down her cheek automatically making Elena feel bad for almost forcing the girl to tell her. Cassandra rubs her face as she casts her eyes downward, not wanting to seem weak in front of them. Stefan frowns as he walks over to her, knowing Elena took it too far with her question. He understood why Cassandra had kept the painting, she didn't need to explain herself to him.
"Hey, it's okay." Stefan tells her as he puts his hand on top of hers. Cassandra glances at him, a frown evident on her face. Elena squints her eyes at the gesture, not getting why Stefan was suddenly so friendly with her. "I held onto that picture of Katherine for decades because I felt like it tied me to my human side. We'd never judge you on that." He assures her with a comforting smile and it actually makes Cassandra smile back at him. Cassandra had always felt safe around Stefan, and he also always knew how to calm her down or reassure her. It was probably just something he was born with.
"Thanks, Stefan." She says softly as he squeezes her hand a little bit. No, she did not have feelings for Stefan and she knew Stefan didn't feel anything for her anymore. They would have cute little moments but it would never progress into a relationship.
On the other side of the counter, Elena had her arms crossed as she leaned over to Damon a little, trying to keep her voice to a minimum. "Did they used to date.. before Katherine?" She asks nervously as she watches Damon raise an eyebrow at her. It didn't take a genius to realize that Elena had a double meaning to her question, she didn't like seeing anyone that close to Stefan.
"Stefan and Cassie?" Damon asks in a confused manner although he knew exactly that it's what she was asking. Elena just simply nods her head as the two glance at Stefan and Cassandra who were in a small conversation. "Oh, no. Their relationship was mainly physical." He insinuates with a wiggle of his eyebrows causing Elena's eyes to bulge out of her head. Stefan had hooked up with Cassandra, probably countless of times. So, he lied to her. When Cassandra first came to town, she had asked Stefan If they ever had a thing and he had told her no. Why would he lie about it? "Well, then again. So was ours." Damon adds with a shrug making Elena choke on her spit. She looks straight at Damon, noticing the smug smirk he had playing on his lips.
"Wait so you both were--" Elena starts to ask, shock evident in her tone before Damon cuts her off. It was an obvious answer but Elena wanted to be absolutely sure that he was telling her the truth.
"Having our human sex drive filled by Cassandra and Katherine." Damon says making Elena visibly shiver. She didn't need to know that Cassandra had sex with both of them, it wasn't a visual she needed.
"He never felt anything for her right?" She asks cautiously as her eyes move back to Stefan for a moment, watching him smile as he talked to Cassandra. He never used to smile with her and he said she couldn't be trusted.
"Wouldn't know about that. Who could blame him if he did though." Damon teases with a knowing smirk on his face, it was obvious that he was getting into Elena's head because of the way her jaw was clenching. She was jealous that Cassandra got both of the Salvatore's attention. Elena wasn't just worried about her stealing Stefan but Damon too. She got them in 1864, who was to stop her from getting them again?
"How do you destroy it?" Elena decides to change the subject because she couldn't stand the information she had just learned, from Damon of all people. She would have to ask Stefan about lying to her later though because she couldn't figure out why he did it.
"By releasing it from the moonstone." Stefan tells her with a raise of his eyebrows. Cassandra tried her best not to just burst out laughing at their discovery. There was no way that this was actually happening.
"How do you guys know this is even going to work?" Elena asks them with a sigh as she crosses her arms. For all they knew this would just blow up in their face like everything else they have tried.
"I'm with Elena on this one. For all we know it could be a trick to get the moonstone into the wrong hands." Cassandra adds, actually agreeing with Elena on something for the first time ever. It probably would never happen again, Elena was even shocked that the girl was on her side.
"Because we have a practiced witch on our side." Damon says cockily making it known that Bonnie was also in the equation which made sense since they obviously needed a witch in order to get rid of a spell.
"You discussed it with Bonnie." Elena sighs with a little bit of a scoff as she looks down at the floor. Of course they talked to Bonnie before informing her because if they had a way, she had to say yes.
"She agreed to do what she could to help us." Stefan tells the two girls but Elena only frowns as she licks her bottom lip a little bit. They made it seem like it was the easiest thing to do but there was still a big factor involved that would not be easy to take out.
"Its Katherine who has the moonstone she's not just going to give it to you." Elena points out as she raises her eyebrows at the two boys, making it known that they needed to think of a plan for solely getting it from Katherine.
"But she might give it to me." Cassandra speaks up with a smirk on her lips. They all just look at her curiously since Katherine probably wouldn't even give it to her even if they did have history. "Katherine and I have been searching for the moonstone for over a hundred years. If she thinks I'm going to double cross you and keep the moonstone for myself, yeah she may give it to me." She explains with a raise of an eyebrow, thinking it was a genius plan. Katherine would obviously give it to her if she thought the girl would double cross the Salvatore's, and even more if Cassandra promised to get her out of the tomb.
"And if that doesn't work, we're gonna get it from her." Stefan adds as he leans on the counter. Damon only gives a fake smile as he crosses his arms against his chest.
"What he means to say is, we'll pry it from her cold dead hand if we have to.' Damon tells them making Cassandra giggle a little bit. Mainly because even though Katherine is weak, it didn't mean they could just kill her easily.
"Bonnie can find a way to release the seal long enough so we can get in, grab the moonstone and get out." Stefan says to Elena who nods her head, her jaw clenching a little at the fact that they didn't even ask what she thought about it before now. And it didn't matter her opinion because they would do it anyways.
"Wow. I mean it sounds like you've got it all planned out." Elena mutters with a small scoff as she rolls her eyes a little bit. Cassandra could tell the doppleganger wasn't liking it at all but when did she ever like a plan they came up with.
"Yep." Damon says with a smirk playing on his lips. His eyes glance over to Cassandra who only fake clapped at him causing him to squint a little at her, sticking out his tongue.
"Except for one thing. I don't want you to do it." Elena tells them in a demanding tone causing both men to stare at her with confused expressions. This plan would save her life and she didn't want them to do it?
"What are you talking about, Elena? We don't have a choice." Stefan responds to the girl, his eyebrows furrowed as he was clearly awestruck that she had said no that easily. They had thought it out and she still didn't want them to.
"What about Klaus?" Elena asks them with an angry expression on her face.
"We'll find him right after we get the moonstone." Stefan answers her with a shrug of his shoulders which causes Cassandra's ears to perk up at the mention of her former love. They had not told her they were going to find Klaus. Why would they even want to? If they get rid of the moonstone there is no trail leading Klaus to them.
"Is that before or after he kills everyone that I care about including the two of you." She points out with a heavy sigh making the tension in the room even thicker. Cassandra snorts a little bit as she had basically admitted to feeling for something for Damon in front of Stefan. Sure, she said she only cared for them but it didn't take an idiot to realize her true meaning.
"Wow, no hard feelings." Cassandra jokes with a smirk as she glances at Elena who sends her a tiny smile. The raven haired girl's face turns back to serious though as she meets the eyes of the Salvatore's. "If you guys plan on finding Klaus then I'm out." She informs them with a cross of her arms, no way was she putting her own life on the line for them. Sure, Elijah was a different story but once their main enemy becomes Klaus, she's done in this town.
"But what about--" Damon begins to say but she immediately cuts him off with the deadliest glare. Him and Stefan of all people should now understand how she had to always keep a good distance from Klaus.
"No. Luring Klaus here was not a part of the plan. If he's here, I'm not." Cassandra snaps with a scoff, she couldn't believe they would've brought Klaus here without letting her know. Did they just expect her to be able to run from him when he was ten feet away from her?
"We can't ask her to risk her life for us. She has helped us so much and I don't want Klaus to kill her either." Elena tells the boys with a sigh, a frown evident on her lips. Even though Cassandra hasn't always been the nicest to her, Elena didn't want her dead. Especially by the hands of Klaus. Cassandra was grateful for the girl who understood where she was coming from. She couldn't be here if Klaus was.
"Elena, if we can dispell the moonstone then we can save your life." Stefan scoffs a little, starting to get a little mad at the fact that she wouldn't just listen to them. Why didn't she want to save her own life? It's not like this plan was completely insane.
"I know, everybody keeps saying that." Elena mutters before stalking our of the kitchen leaving Stefan and Damon to just stare at each other, clearly confused by the girls behaviour.
"Just give her time, it's a lot to process." Cassandra tells them with a sigh as she rubs her face a little bit. Stefan nods his head a little but decided to walk after Elena anyways.
"You gonna talk to Elijah?" Damon asks once Stefan is out of earshot. Cassandra glances at the man, her tongue clicking as she only shrugs her shoulders a little bit.
"Maybe. I just don't want to hurt him." Cassandra speaks the truth as she frowns a little bit at the memory of telling Elijah that she couldn't be with him after Klaus.
"You're way past that. Look, just say what you need to say. Get it over with. If it goes somewhere it does and if it doesn't then oh well." Damon suggests with a shrug, talking in a dull tone as he glances around at random things in the kitchen.
"Nice pep talk." Cassandra tells him bluntly with a purse of her lips. Damon only smiles at her as he pretends to flip his hair earning a laugh from Cassandra.
"I know. I'm brilliant." He replies with a chuckle earning a playful eye roll from the girl. "By the way, Elena knows that you slept with both of us." Damon informs her quickly, a ghost of a smirk playing on his lips as he goes to walk away from the older vampire quickly.
"Wha--" She begins to question Damon as he walks away from her but she suddenly remembered that she wasn't ashamed of it and that Elena could just suck it for all she cared. "Wait, I don't care." Cassandra snorts with a shake of her head before heading out of the house. Damon was right, she needed to talk to Elijah. At least explain why she rejected him in more depth. He deserved better than her but she knew he wouldn't move on that fast. There was only one thing she had to do on her way to talk to Elijah, and that was to try and persuade the moonstone right out of Katherine's skinny little fingers.

A SMIRK FORMS ON CASSANDRA'S LIPS AS SHE LETS GO OF THE BIG ROCK, leaving the entrance of the tomb clear as day. Cassandra glances into the dark cave, not seeing the familiar brunette anywhere in sight. The girl either couldn't hear her or was too weak to come towards her. She wasn't getting much blood, if any, unless Stefan and Damon were generous this morning. Cassandra sighs as she shakes the bottle of blood, hoping to grab her attention. "Kat. Come out, come out wherever you are." She sing songs with a smirk, watching as the silhouette of the girl makes its way closer to her. Eventually Cassandra could see how bad Katherine truly looked, she looked dead. Well, even more dead than she could look.
"Cassandra. What a pleasure for you to finally come see me." Katherine scoffs, her voice weak and choppy as she probably was starving. Cassandra flips her hair over her shoulder as she wiggles her eyebrows at the brunette.
"Well, you know me. Always keeping tabs on my friends." Cassandra says dramatically before throwing her the bottle in which she eagerly drinks, earning back a little color on her skin.
"Friend? You let them put me in here to rot." Katherine snaps at her with a hurtful and angry stare. Sure, she expected it from the two boys but the fact Cassandra didn't even try to stop them is what hurt Katherine the most.
"I guess we're even." She tells the girl with a smirk playing on her lips. They both knew it wasn't true but it was fun to mess with her once in a while.
"We'll never be even." Katherine scoffs as she slightly glares at the woman. Although, it was her fault that she was so in debt with Cassandra to begin with. If it wasn't for her, Katherine would've had her blood spilled over some stupid little rock.
"You know me so well." Cassandra gives her a cocky smirk causing Katherine to roll her eyes a little bit but she couldn't help the slight laugh that left her lips. "I'm not here to pick a fight, I need the moonstone." She states firmly as she crosses her arms against her chest. Katherine only raises an eyebrow at the girl, finding it suspicious that she came looking for it the same day the Salvatore's did.
"You know, Stefan and Damon came looking for the moonstone as well." Katherine ponders with a smirk playing on her lips, leaning against the rock wall. She wasn't dumb, she knew the girl was up to something she just had to figure out what.
"Did they now? Interesting." Cassandra replies as she purses her lips, placing her hand on her hip. Katherine squints her eyes a little as she watched the smirk form on the older vampires face.
"Such a coincidence." She admits as she bites her lower lip which only made Cassandra roll her eyes a little bit. She didn't care to carry this conversation, she just needed to get the moonstone and leave.
"You going to give it to me or not?" Cassandra asks as she raises an eyebrow, holding out her hand but Katherine only stares at it for a moment. It was the only thing she had that could potentially get her out of this hell. She wasn't just going to give it up, even to Cassandra.
"It's my insurance, Cass. You of all people know how important that is." She tells the girl who sighs, nodding her head. Cassandra understood why she was being so hesitant but that wasn't going to stop her from playing her last card.
"Well, I could've struck you a deal. Got you out of here but..." Cassandra trails off with a shrug as she goes to turn around, knowing very well that Katherine wouldn't miss the chance to take that opportunity.
"Wait." Her voice calls out making the raven haired vampire smirk as she turns back around to face Katherine. "I know that Stefan and Damon will probably be planning something. They get the moonstone, you get it from them." Katherine suggests with a raise of an eyebrow. Cassandra only sighs as she gives Katherine a confused expression.
"Why not just give it to me now?" She asks as she didn't understand why the Petrova couldn't just hand over the moonstone. Why go through all the trouble of Stefan and Damon?
"Because you still need your allegiance to them. They find out you are taking the moonstone and fleeing, don't deny it because I know you better than anyone. They will never trust you again." Katherine points out as she licks her bottom lip leaving Cassandra to ponder that thought. It did make sense to keep the Salvatore's in her good graces right now.
"Okay, I'll see what I can do about getting you out. No promises." Cassandra tells the girl, not wanting to get her hopes up. It wouldn't be easy to find a witch in Mystic Falls who would be willing to help so she'd have to call someone else.
"I'm sorry about dragging you into my whole mess. If it wasn't for me, you could live your life the way you want." Katherine apologizes with a frown on her face. Cassandra was the only person who ever saw the girls vulnerable side. The only reason is because the two girls have gotten very close over the centuries.
"It was my fault for telling you but I was never going to have a life anyways. Klaus was always going to want me back." She corrects Kathrine because she didn't need her blaming herself for the whole mess. It was her fault for betraying Klaus in the first place so the only reason she was running was because of herself.
"Stay strong." Katherine says with a small smile on her lips as she looks at Cassandra who nods her head, smiling a little back at her.
"You too." Cassandra responds with a sigh before shutting the door once more. She felt bad for Katherine. Sure, the girl deserved to be in there but it must get so lonely being by yourself. She knew what that felt like. Cassandra just hoped she never had to feel that again.
β’Β°β’Β°β’Β°β’Β°β’Β°β’Β°β’Β°β’Β°β’Β°β’Β°β’Β°β’
IT DIDN'T TAKE LONG TO FIND ELIJAH, especially considering there was only one apartment that had just been 'rented' in the last day. Cassandra was nervous, she couldn't stop herself from admitting that because she didn't know how Elijah was going to react. She had turned him down harshly, not even waiting to see the aftermath of what she had left.
For all she knew, Elijah could have Klaus waiting to kill her. She wouldn't blame him. All this time waiting to tell her how he felt and she completely ruined it. Like she ruined everything. She was just hoping that they could evolve into what she had with Klaus, maybe even more than that.
Walking into the apartment, she looks around, noticing how neat it looked. It was probably because he was rarely there because he didn't really need an apartment. Cassandra sighs as she walks around, glancing at the little things scattered around. It was only when she noticed the brunette haired man standing a couple feet away from her. His back was to her so she didn't even know if he realized she was there. "Elijah." Her voice cracks a little bit but it gains the attention of the original. His head rises a little bit as he tilts it to the side, almost trying to see out of the corner of his eye if it was actually her. At first, Cassandra thought he would be happy to see her but it was the most wrong she had ever been.
"Get out." He snaps at her, not even turning to glance in her direction. Elijah was hurt by her and he didn't want to hear any more of her excuses on why they couldn't be together. It was clear to him that she felt something too, she just had to come to terms with it.
"Elijah, please. You have to hear me out." She pleads as she takes a couple more steps closer to him. This time he did turn around and Cassandra could see the obvious pain in his eyes. She had hurt him deeply, she knew that. Cassandra just couldn't handle seeing the pain she had caused him.
"And have you rip my heart from my chest again?" Elijah hisses with a scoff as he shakes his head, making his move to leave the apartment because she clearly wasn't going to. Cassandra blocks his way though, putting her hands on his chest.
"That wasn't my intention. I'm just scared." Cassandra admits as she tries to get him to look back at her. It took him a few seconds but he finally meets her eyes, slight concern in his.
"Of my brother?" He asks, needing her to know that she had nothing to be afraid of. Klaus was going to be gone soon enough, they just had to get him weak enough.
"Of letting myself fall for someone else." She corrects him with a frown on her face which made Elijah tilt his head a little, a bit confused on why she would be scared of falling for him. "What if Rose was telling the truth? That Nik doesn't want to harm me. Where would that leave us?" Cassandra asks as she furrows her eyebrows, a stray tear leaving her lips. She couldn't let herself believe that Klaus still wanted to be with her but she couldn't stop the piece of her that wanted him back. That wanted to be his again. "Cause god help me, Elijah. I actually like you." She adds, releasing a breath she didn't know she had been holding in. Elijah was taken aback by the sudden expression of the girls feelings. He never thought she would really admit it, but he was filled with joy that she had.
"I have known the risk of loving you since we have met Cassandra. I know there is a chance I will lose you to my brother but that is a risk I'm willing to take." Elijah explains with a slight frown on his lips as he takes her hand in his, giving it a little bit of a squeeze. Cassandra nods her head a little bit, her eyes barely leaving the ground.
"I don't want to mess up the relationship you have with him." She mumbles under her breath, knowing that Elijah would probably hate his brother by now. Cassandra just hoped that maybe they would rekindle their brotherhood, it didn't seem to be the case though.
"There isn't anything to mess up. Once I kill him, it's over." Elijah assures her with a sigh as he strokes her cheek. Cassandra couldn't help but tense at the words, the reality becoming so unreal. She couldn't imagine Klaus being dead. Did she even want him dead? The only reason she would really want him gone is that she could stop running but what if Rose was right and he just wanted to find her? Maybe then she would feel differently about Elijah's plan to kill his own brother.
"I do want to give you a chance, Elijah." She tells him with a soft smile, connecting their hands again. Elijah was full of love and excitement, knowing that this was finally his chance to show her that he was better than his brother. "You just have to promise me that you will never lie to me." Cassandra adds with a pointed expression, slightly terrified that he would turn into Klaus. Pretend to show her nothing but love and affection when in reality, he didn't love her.
"I promise, Cassandra." Elijah says confidentally but it was already a broken promise. He never intended to make her a promise that he couldn't keep, he just wasn't ready to admit what he had kept from her all these years. "You aren't just doing this for me, right?" He asks her with fear in his eyes, hoping that she wasn't just giving him a chance because she felt like she had to.
"I think I've been denying it for so long because of Nik. I'm not sure when it happened but I think Ive fallen for you for a lot longer than I realize." Cassandra tells him truthfully as she gazes into his eyes. Elijah couldn't help but feel happy by her answer, maybe she had loved him all this time but she was too blind to see it because of Klaus.
"You mean everything to me, Cassandra. I will never ever hurt you." Elijah promises as he presses his forehead against hers. Cassandra smiles at him before pecking a quick kiss on his lips.
"I believe you." She responds as her fingers run through his hair a little bit. Elijah leans down, connecting their lips in a soft kiss. Cassandra returns it, her arms wrapping around his neck. He presses her against the nearest wall, moving closer to her as their kiss deepens. She can't help the tiny moan that escapes her when their tongues clash together, his hand moving under her skirt. Cassandra smiles at him for a second before their lips meet once again in a more passionate kiss, her hands sliding under his shirt to feel him more freely.
They are interrupted by a text chiming though Cassandra's phone. She was almost going to ignore it but it probably had something to do with their stupid plan to get the moonstone from Katherine so someone was probably dead. "Damn it." Cassandra groans as she pulls away from Elijah, giving him an annoyed look as she grabs her phone, looking at the message she had recieved from the one and only Damon Salvatore.
"What is it?" Elijah asks curiously as he tries to peer down at the text she had recieved. It wasn't the best moment for them but he needed to know if they had succesfully gotten the moonstone.
"It's Damon. Elena's trying to hand herself over to Klaus." Cassandra says with a scoff as she rolls her eyes a little. Of course Elena was trying to be the little hero and save everyone when really she was just going to doom them all by bringing Klaus closer to them.
"Where is she?" He asks her with furrowed eyebrows, wanting to know why Elena would even think about doing something like that in the first place.
"Slater's apartment." Cassandra answers him hesitantly. Elijah goes to leave but he noticed that the girl was standing dead still. She wasnt even moving her eyes from the text on her screen.
It didn't take long for Elijah to figure out why. The smallest chance of being face to face with Klaus was not something that Cassandra wanted to ever do. She didnt want to go incase his brother had already gotten there. "Do you want to stay here?" He asks with a soft smile playing on his lips and he noticed the guilty expression that formed on her face. She felt bad that she couldn't go, Elijah should be more important that Klaus and she should trust him to protect her.
"I'm sorry." She apologizes in a sad tone, her eyes moving to the floor as she didn't want to see his judging eyes. Although, Elijah was looking at her with everything but judge in his eyes.
"I understand, Cassandra. The slightest chance of being found by Klaus makes you nervous. But he won't lay a finger on you." He assures her, his hands gripping her waist as a sign that he was going to be there for her to protect her. "I will be back." Elijah tells her with a small smile as he places a kiss on her forehead. Cassandra glances up at him, nodding her head a little bit as she couldn't help but fawn over his dreamy eyes. Maybe giving him a chance wouldn't be so bad after all.
But nothing ever stayed good in Mystic Falls, especially not when you have a powerful ex love searching every inch of the earth for you. Cassandra's small piece of happiness was about to crumble to pieces and it will make her wonder, will she ever be happy again?
