"We all have a monster inside of us. And we are all responsible for what it does when we let it out."

She heard a knock erupt from her door and a familiar voice come from the other side, calling her name in an attempt to get her attention. Aife could feel her bones aching from work all day. She groaned as she slowly sat up and stretched, her arms were up over her head and she let out a sigh, before lazily dropping them back at her sides.

"Wake up!"

"I'm coming!" The girl shouted back at him. She stood up, slightly stumbling as she reached for a pair of green jeans, slightly baggy jeans, with a grey tank top and combat boots. She then reached up and pulled her hair out of her face, tying it up with an old hair tie that she had managed to keep alive for weeks now. It needed to be out of the way when she runs.  She strapped a machete to her back and Quickly, she grabbed her backpack and walked towards the doors of the maze, patiently waiting for Minho to show up. The two of them always run together. No matter what.

The grass was slightly damp due to the time of day, and the temperature. The sun glistened amongst the glade and all that was heard was the crunching of the grass with each step the girl took.

She heard footsteps behind her and didn't bother to turn around, she knew it was him.

Suddenly, she felt pressure on her pony tail, Minho was untying her hair. Yet, he didn't even bother asking. The girl scoffed lightly and shook her head.

"What hairstyle are you doing this time?" She asked him as she placed a water in her backpack.

"I'm braiding it. Hope you don't mind. It tends to be in the way when it's in a pony tail. You thought I didnt notice?" He chuckled. She shrugged and let him do what he needed to do. Usually, she has him style her hair for her. She expected nothing less Once he was finished, he nodded at her and they entered the maze. They took a left and all that was heard was their feet, padding against the concrete as they ran. The floor was slightly glistened, like as if an illusion that if you run too fast, you'll slip.

It was silent, until Minho decided to speak up and ask a question.

"You think we're ever gonna get outta this joint?"

She furrowed her eyebrows as she began to think.

"Yes." She said confidently. She doesn't think it's possible that they won't ever find a way out. She didn't like to think that far ahead.

He turned his head to her and cocked his eyebrow upwards with suspicion as they continued running, "You just saying that because you want to and we need to have hope? Or do you really believe that."

She began to breathe heavier as her arms kept moving in their running motion, "I truly believe we will find a way out. You should too." She didn't mean to snap at him, but it came out as such.

It was silent and they continued to run for about four more hours. She heard her stomach rumbling causing her to lightly place a hand on it before slowing down.

"Let's stop here." She said, the boy obeyed and nodded his head. They sat down and opened up their backpacks. She grabbed a canteen of water and he handed her an extra sandwich that managed to snatch up from Frypan. It was rare to get extra food from him without getting backlash.

Once he finished, he grew impatient with the girl as she was taking her time. She hadn't been eating much. She simply rolled her eyes at him and waved him off, already sensing his annoyance.

"You sure?" He asked her. Yes, he was sick of waiting on her, but he didn't want to leave her behind completely.

"Positive. Go." She ordered him. He quickly nodded and packed up his stuff, slung his backpack over his shoulder and began to run down the other end of the corridor.

She soon finished her water and stood up after she packed her things away.

She was running for about twenty minutes when she heard an all too familiar, loud shriek come from near by. She furrowed her eyebrows to try to determine which direction the Griever noise came from.

They shouldn't be out right now.

She cursed incoherently underneath her breath and let out a deep and irritated sigh as she realized she couldn't track it down.

Unbeknownst to her, Minho heard it and turned back around to look for the girl to make sure she was safe. She began to run wherever she could, trying to get out of the maze. She was sure Ben and Minho had already left.

But she didn't care about that.

All she cares about is making sure they are safe. She cant lose them.

After about five more minutes of running. She heard a bone chilling sound. The noise that sent anger and fear to course through her blood.

Through her veins.

Whirrrr. Click. Whirrrr. Click.

She continued to run as fast as she could, her bones were aching as she pushed herself harder and harder, until she came to a dead end.

She mumbled incomprehensibly once more under her breath as she looked for another way to get escape from the hell hole she found herself trapped in. She ran back where she came from when she saw the shadow of a griever. Its ginormous, metal legs came running towards her, speeding up with each step it took. It's metallic legs legs scratched against the wall and created a horrid sound.

She cant get caught, not again.

She let out a shaky sigh, and grabbed the machete from her back before stepping back a bit and running forward. The blade nearly slipped out of her sweaty hands.b The griever let out a loud shriek and didn't stop running until it was up right behind her.

It's large stinger swung in the air as she stabbed it on its side.

That was a bad spot and she knew it. She wasn't thinking. The weak spot on a griever was in its stomach. Stupid. Stupid. Stupid. Stupid.

She hit the wrong spot.

Oh no, she said to herself.

She took three steps back before she heard a voice call out to her,

"Aife! Run!"

Everything was moving so fast it was almost as if it was in slow motion. She couldn't comprehend what was happening. Her chest began to heave as she slowly backed away, not wanting to make any sudden movements.

She was about to take off into a sprint, just when she felt a sting in her left thigh.

The griever took off and Minho quickly ran by her side, mumbling uncomprehendingly as her eyes fluttered shut. The boy caught her just before she fell into her slumber.
