"It hurts, but it's okay. I'm used to it."

It's been a couple weeks, things have been running pretty smoothly. Chuck got the job as a slopper, which he was pretty upset about. But the girl managed to cheer him up. They helped each other get over the unfortunate death of Landon. Chuck couldn't seem to get the vivid image of the boy getting murdered out of his head.

A fellow glader, family, a brother.

Aife was currently walking over to Frypan to get her dinner. It's about seven in the afternoon, When the girl received her plate from him, he flashed her a toothy grin and she gave him a pursed lipped smile and raised her eyebrows, causing faint lines to appear on her forehead.

"Thanks fry," She smiled and nodded at him, making the boy bow his head towards her, making her chuckle.

"Don't thank me,"

As she was walking to her usual seat, she noticed from the corner of her eye, was Gally. He was sitting alone as he bit into his sandwich.

She let out a sigh as she redirected herself to walk towards him. She sat down next to him and started to eat with him too. He looked at her with confusion face painted over his features, she only smirked.

"You okay?" She asked him while she nudged him with her elbow and then placed them on her knees as she leaned forward. He looked at her, his eyebrows arched high up as usual, his freckles were scattered around his big nose. He flickered his gaze back down to his food and nodded his head.

"Yeah. I'm fine." He said to assure her, but she saw straight through his little act. He doesn't have many friends in the glade, ever since he's gone through the changing. She's known him long enough to figure him out, he pushes them away because he doesn't want to get close to them. He thinks he can't afford to lose anyone else that he cares about. And honestly, Aife is the only one that he's ever shown kindness too. She's been there since day one.

"You know, when someone says i'm fine, it usually means the opposite." She sassed playfully and he jokingly rolled his eyes before responding, "You do it all the time."

She opened her mouth to respond, but nothing came out. She clamped it shut again.

He's got a point.

But she's got a reason.

"Well, Yeah. But i mean, i can't bother someone else with my problems when i've got jobs to do. You know?" She said and he nodded, his jaw clenching and unclenching harshly with every bite he took of his dinner. She took another bite of her sandwich and cocked her head to the side, rolling her neck so she could get the kink out of it.

"You wouldn't be a problem, Aife. You've done so much for us. Seriously, shank, we don't deserve you."

She gave a thankful smile and nodded before pursing her lips in an attempt to stop what was about to come out of her mouth, but it was no use.

"No one deserves me."

He chuckled at the girls response and rolled his eyes while she sat with a lazy grin that danced across her lips. She could feel a cut in the corner of her bottom lip, it was like as if her skin was being squeezed together and if she smiled wider, it would begin to bleed.

"I should have known you would say something like that." He said before he grew serious once again, his face falling.

"No but seriously, Aife. We'll listen," He assured and she nodded. He fully turned to her and spoke, "You know what, talk to me."

"You mean like...Now?" She asked as she cocked up an eyebrow. He gave her a knowing look and she sighed as she turned her body to face him aswell. It warms her heart to see him acting like this, she just wishes he would show this side of him more often.

"Well, i think i've got a brother. When i went through the changing i saw him." She shrugged. He gave a cheeky smirk, causing her to roll her eyes.

"There, see! That wasn't so hard." He replied as he patted the girls shoulder.

"Yeah, whatever, shank. Hey listen, imma go to bed. I've gotta be up in the mornin'. I'll see you later." She said goodbye to him before checking on everyone else and heading to bed.

She didn't tell him why she was sent there. He doesn't need to know that. He doesn't need to know that she slaughtered all of those people. She knows Gally. He will most likely see her as some type of threat.

And shes not a threat.

But she can be.

When he sees a threat of some sort, he goes insane. Whereas her on the other hand, either stay silent and wait for an explanation. Or she deals with the threat on sight.

Shes not sure what caused her to kill all those men, but she does know one thing for sure. It's that she didn't feel guilty about it whatsoever. They must've deserved it. Anyone could tell just by the look on her face. The joyful expression she wore as she looked at their bodies that had laid limp at her feet as their blood spritzed on the walls and on her face.

In fact, she felt proud.

Proud of herself that she could defend her friends and herself if it came down to it. Now she knows they can count on her.

She felt comforted knowing full well that she can defend her people. That is where she gets her skills from.

Why she knows how to use a bow and arrow so well, a knife, a machete. All of it.

She was made for this.

She was Born for this.
