Episode 10 Part 2

ARGENT takes a look at the engine at the rear of Jackson's Porsche that is stopped alongside the road.

"It's really okay. I can call for a tow truck." Jackson says worryingly.

He knew what Chris Argent was because of Scott and Allison but he made him feel uneasy.

Chris smiles charmingly, "I know a few things about cars. Might be something simple."

"I don't know. This is a pretty expensive car and there's all that warranty crap they pull if you do your own repairs, right?"

"I won't tell if you won't."

Jackson gazes up at Argent's unnerving smile, clearly not sure how to respond.

"It's Jackson, right? Come here. I'll show you what to look for."

He reaches out, hand moving to the middle of Jackson's back to press him forward. But then, with clear calculation, Argent's hand glides up to the back of the boy's neck. Jackson cringes and shrinks away.

"Oh, I'm sorry." He pulls his hand away, "Your neck. Did you hurt yourself?"

Jackson's hand reaches to the still-healing claw marks.

"No. I mean-- It's just a scratch."

Argent shakes his head firmly, "It looks like more than a scratch."

Jackson looks around nervously seeing that no one else was around but them two.

"Have you seen a doctor about it?"

"Yeah, he said it's nothing."

"You might want a second opinion. Nothing isn't exactly how I'd describe it. How'd it happen?"

"Seriously, don't worry about it."

"They kind of look like claw marks..."

Jackson turns away from him so he can't see them anymore.

Argent grins wide raising an eyebrow, "Are you all right?"

"I think I should probably just call a tow truck..." Jackson stammers as he reaches into his pocket for his cell phone.

"Any reason you're so reluctant to tell me what it was that did that?"

Argent keeps the friendly smile up, even while pressing relentlessly for an answer.

"No."

As gently as can be Argent pushes the question harder, "Then... what was it?"

Jackson opens his mouth to respond when a jeep blasts into view. Skidding to a halt in the road next to them. Scott and Stiles peer out the passenger window as Luna gazes out the back.

"Everything okay?" Scott asks already knowing exactly what was going on.

Argent nods once keeping the smile on his face, "Hey, Scott. Your friend here is having a little car trouble. We were just taking a look."

"There's a shop down the street. I'm sure they have a tow truck."

"Want a ride?"

Jackson gazes at Stiles, then meets Argent's unblinking stare once again.

Luna sticks her head out between the two front seats and smiles, "Come on, Jackson. You're way too pretty to stand out here alone."

He whips his head back to the three and gives a weak laugh.

"Get in." Scott mouths with serious eyes.

Jackson slowly nods. Scott clicks open the door for him. But then Argent slams the rear engine compartment of the Porsche closed.

"Hold on guys."

He reaches in to grab the key in the ignition slot and gives it a twist. The engine roars back to life.

Chris shrugs at Jackson nonchalantly with a grin, "Told you I knew a few things about cars."

Argent jumps into his car and drives off when Scott leaps out, heading right for Jackson.

"What? Are you following me now?"

Scott pushes him angrily, "Yes, you stupid, freaking idiot! You almost gave away everything back there."

Stiles and Luna hurry out the jeep and run to the other side to make sure Scott didn't do anything too bad and that Jackson didn't say anything to crazy.

"What are you talking about?" Jackson questions with confusion.

"He thinks you're the second Beta."

Jackson scoffs, "What?"

"He thinks you're me!" Scott hammers a fist down on the hood of Stiles's Jeep.

Stiles throws his hands up in the air, "Dude. My Jeep."

Scott ignores him as he glares at Jackson in frustration, "I could hear your heart beating a mile away. Literally. Now he knows something's wrong and now I have to keep an eye on your stupid ass so he doesn't kill you too."

Scott balls up his fist again as if to punch him. But he turns to the Jeep's hood again. Stiles's gently guides him back.

"How about we step away from Stiles's Jeep?"

Luna chuckles patting Stiles' shoulder.

Jackson glares angrily at Scott after rolling his eyes, "This is your problem. Not mine. I didn't say anything. Which means you're the one who's going to get me killed. It's your fault."

Jackson shoves Scott back against the Jeep.

"Please stop hitting my Jeep."

But Scott shoves Jackson back. Then, just before they finally come to blows, Luna darts between them.

"All right, can you two stop it!"

Scott glares but stays back as Luna pushes him away from Jackson, "If they come after you, I can't protect you. I can't protect any of you."

For the briefest second, his eyes fall on Stiles and Luna as well.

"Why you looking at us?" Stiles frowns.

Luna crosses her arms over her chest before stepping beside Stiles with the same emotion written all over her face.

"Yes why are you looking at us?"

But Scott just refocuses on Jackson.

Jackson shakes his head with a smirk, "Now you have to do it. Get me what I want and I'll be fine protecting myself."

"This boy really has a death wish." Luna mutters to herself angrily.

Scott lets out a frustrated groan, "No, you won't. Just trust me. All it does is make things worse."

"Right. You can hear anything you want and run faster than humanly possible. Sounds like a real hardship."

"Yes, I can run really fast now. Except half the time I'm running away from people trying to kill me. And I can hear things. Like my girlfriend telling people she doesn't trust me anymore just before breaking up with me. I'm not lying. It ruins your life."

"It ruined your life. You got all the power in the world and you didn't know what to do with it."

Luna shrugs whispering, "He's not wrong..."

Stiles nudges her making her zip her mouth as Scott frowns at her.

She grimaces holding her hands up in surrender, "Sorry..."

Jackson pulls his keys out, moving for his car, "You know what it's actually like, McCall? It's like you turned sixteen and somebody bought you a Porsche when they should have started you out with a nice little Honda."

Opening the door to his car, he gives a last look back.

"Me? I drive a Porsche."

Slamming the door closed, he sends the car tearing out of the lot, kicking up dust at the three as they look after him.

Luna shakes her head frowning, "I'm gonna key that car one day..."

...

Luna hums as she walks out her empty house. She crosses over her yard into the Stilinski's before knocking on their front door. She waits rubbing her arms as it was starting to get cold out.

The door quickly bursts open to reveal a grimacing Stiles.

"Hey..."

Luna frowns, "What the hell did you do?"

Following the idiotic boy into the house, Luna freezes as she sees a drunk Noah Stilinski in front of tens and tens of papers at their kitchen table.

Turning angrily to Stiles she whispers, "What did you do?"

Stiles shrugs with a guilty look, "I might have made my dad drink to tell me more about the Hale case."

Luna stares at Stiles in awe, "I didn't know you had it in you. I'm somewhat proud but also scared."

Stiles smiles uneasily before patting the chair for Luna to sit. Luna sits across from Noah as Stiles sits back beside him. Stiles takes the empty glass out of his drunk father's hand before it drops through his flimsy grasp.

"There's just so many questions."

"Like?"

"If Derek was going to kill everyone involved with the fire, why start with his own sister who had nothing to do with it? And why make it all look like some animal did it?"

Stiles and Luna glance at one another with a knowing face before looking back at Noah with innocent looks, "That's a great question."

Noah nods slowly, "Which is the other weird thing. When that cougar ended up in the school parking lot I checked with Animal Control. Incidences of wild animal reports? Up seventy percent in the last few months. It's like they're all going crazy running out of the woods."

"Or something's scaring them out." Stiles whispers quietly glancing at Luna.

'We have to tell Scott.' Luna tells Stiles in her head.

Stiles nods once then looks over the files and starts cleaning them up, shoving them back in their folders.

"You know, I miss talking to you. It's like we never have time-"

"Gotta' make a phone call, Dad. Be right back."

"I do. I miss it."

Luna frowns as Stiles gets up, pulling his phone from his pocket.

"I miss your mother."

Glancing back, Stiles takes the phone from his ear, "What'd you say?"

But Noah just reaches for the bottle to pour another drink. As he lifts it up, however, Stiles puts his hand around it, gently setting it down.

Noah smiles appreciatively, "Thanks."

Stiles nods slowly sighing. He felt horrible about getting his dad drunk to find out information about the case. It made him feel dirty and like an awful son.

Luna frowns as she starts to feel despair, pain, and hurt. She looks up at Stiles and frowns realizing those emotions were coming from him. So why could she feel what he could?

Keeping her mouth shut, she shakes her head and helps Stiles take his dad upstairs to his room. Waiting outside the door, Luna leans on the wall and thinks about everything that was happening as she waits for Stiles.

She could feel people's emotions. Not everyone she figured out. But like how Scott said his pack was Allison, Stiles, Jackson, Lydia, and herself; Luna's pack was Derek, Stiles, and Scott. For the past few days when she was near them and their emotions were running high, she could feel every ounce of what they gave off. She didn't know why and she didn't know how. She had no idea she could do this.

"You okay?"

Luna leaps up and stands straight holding her chest, "Shoot you scared me."

Stiles smiles lightly, "Sorry my bad. I thought you heard me but it seems like you were deep in your head... Penny for your thoughts?"

Luna shrugs smiling sadly, "I-I don't know... I mean I don't know what's going on with me..."

"What do you mean? Is something happening to you?" Stiles looks her body up and down cautiously trying to find some kind of injury.

Luna shakes her head chuckling, "No I'm okay physically. Mentally I'm not sure. I just found out recently that I can feel people's emotions. I feel exactly what they do. Anger, hurt, pain, fear... Well not everyone but I-I didn't k-know I could do that... and it scares me."

Stiles frowns as Luna slides down to sit on the floor with her head in her hands. He walks over and sits down in front of her holding her knees as she lays her forehead on her thighs.

"When we were trapped in the school... I felt anger. So much anger and that's why I punched the cabinet and the glass. I don't know why but I did. It felt like the only way to control or ease the emotion. But it wasn't mine... I'm scared I'll get that feeling again and I'll do something horrible..."

Luna wanted to say again but she didn't think it was a great time to tell Stiles about her being a murderer. He wouldn't ever look at her the same if he knew what she did. And she didn't think her heart could take it if Stiles, sweet innocent sarcastic goofy Stiles, thought of her as a monster. It would tear her apart.

Stiles shakes his head with a deep set frown as he holds Luna's head up. She drops her hands in her lap as she stares into his deep brown eyes.

"Luna we're going to figure this out. Everything is going to be okay and you're going to stay sane. I promise you... I won't let you do anything that would hurt anyone you care about... okay?"

Luna nods slowly still staring into his eyes. Stiles sighs rubbing his thumb across her cheek as he gazes into her glistening green eyes. The still silence between the two is almost deafening... it was like the world around them disappeared.

RING RING

Jumping away, Luna catches her breath and gazes down the hall trying not to catch Stiles eye. She found what just happened to be super weird considering how close they were becoming.

Stiles was her best friend.

She didn't want to ruin that and she wouldn't. Derek was her boyfriend, she really liked him... whatever was happening was going to end real soon. There was no way Stiles would ever risk his ten year plan and she would risk her first almost love. Never.

Stiles peeks glances at Luna as thousands of thoughts run through his head. Shaking his head out his thoughts, he reaches for his phone. Seeing Scott's name he nods saying of course.

"Hello?"

...

Peter eases the car off to the side of the road as Melissa takes out her phone. But while tapping her thumbs on the screen, she looks up to find him staring at her.

"What?"

"I was just noticing you have the most incredible skin. Flawless."

Melissa raises an eyebrow, "That's sort of a new one for me."

"Do you mind?"

He reaches slowly toward her, fingers brushing her cheek. She can't help but tremble ever-so-slightly as he touches her. Her phone slips out of her hand, dropping to the passenger side floor.

"Sorry."

She reaches for the phone while Peter looks on her, his eyes slowly beginning to burn with a glassy red glow as a car suddenly slams right into them, sending them both jerking forward. Melissa screams in surprise.

Head snapped forward, Peter looks back up to reveal his eyes are back to normal. They both glance to the rear window to see who hit them.

"Are you kidding me?"

Melissa gets out of the passenger side and looks on the vehicle that hit them with pure, unadulterated fury.

"Stiles?"

Stiles gets out of the Jeep and feigns surprise, "Mrs. McCall? Wow. This is crazy. Talk about a coincidence."

Peter Hale steps out from the driver's side, approaching the rear of his now damaged car with an amused smile.

"Nicely done, Scott." He says under his breath.

Down the street, past the lineup of cars and frustrated drivers, Scott appears from behind an SUV. He's breathless from running, sweat on his forehead.

Peter's voice changes as Scott picks it up with his enhanced hearing.

"Nicely done."
