Stay Away

3rd Person's POV

Laney bounces Liam on her hip as she walks alongside Colby who has Coraline on his shoulders.

Sighing with a smile she looks around, "This is a dreadful night indeed... you know what would make it better?"

Colby raises an eye in question.

As the two whisper to one another Willow moves over to the group and looks around frantically.

Hearing running footsteps behind them, everyone turns to see Spike and his entourage of monsters striding towards them.

"Willow!" Angel says as he pulls Buffy and Cordelia through the alley.

"Guys, you gotta get inside." Willow says as she hurries following them.

"We need a triage."

"This way. Find an open warehouse."

"Over here!" Angel says as he stops at a warehouse door.

Xander pushes the door aside, and they all hurry in, "Check if there are any other ways in!"

He slides the door closed again as Angel sets Buffy back down on her feet next to Cordelia.

Angel looks at the group of four and recounts before groaning, "Where the hell is Laney and Colby?"

Willow gasps turning around seeing the empty warehouse, "I don't know!"

"Just stay here."

Buffy quickly holds onto Cordelia as Angel disappears. Cordelia rolls her eyes trying to loosen Buffy's grip.

"Oh, faboo. More clinging."

...

"I'm blinded by beauty..."

Laney rocks Liam as he sleeps while smiling at Coraline who was laying her head on her lap.

"I would die for her. I would kill for her. Either way, what bliss."

Colby gazes at her in awe as he leans against a tree nearby. Laney hearing him glances up and grins.

"Who are you talking to, Gomez?"

"No one, Cara Mia."

"Come sit with me, my love."

Colby quickly sits beside her and the two stare into one another's eyes as a light wind blows by in the dark starry night.

Laney gasps feeling a pressure push against her as the wind blows past her. She frowns looking around before laughing in pure confusion.

"What the..." Colby mutters with a chuckle as he rubs Laney's leg, "What the hell happened?"

"And why are we in a cemetery?"

...

Back in the warehouse, the monsters that surrounded the Scooby Gang turn back into the little kids that the gang was supposed to be watching.

"I'm scared. I want my mommy!"

As Spike gazes at the wig in his hand in confusion, Buffy lifts her head up and smiles, "Hi, honey. I'm home."

The two scuffle a bit before Buffy holds up a metal bar in warning. Spike glares angrily before huffing and running off.

Buffy smiles with her hands on her hips, "You know what? It's good to be me."

Xander walks over to her and smiles, "Hey, Buff. Welcome back."

"Yeah... You too."

Cordelia frowns, "You guys remember what happened?"

Buffy nods, "It was way creepy. It was like I was there, but I couldn't get out."

"I know the feeling..." Cordy frowns, "This outfit's skintight."

Xander rolls his eyes.

Angel slowly walks over looking Buffy up and down for injuries, "You okay?"

Buffy gazes at him, "Yeah."

Without another word the two walk away from Xander and Cordelia.

Cordy frowns throwing up her hands, "Hello. It felt like I was talking. My lips were moving, and..."

"Give it up, Cordy. You're never gonna
get between those two. Believe me, I know."

Cordelia sighs, "Well, I guess you'd better
get them back to their parents. And find Laney and Colby."

Xander nods agreeing, "Yeah. Everybody seems to... Where's Willow?"

...

Buffy and Angel sit next to one another in her room just staring before Angel says something.

"I don't get it, Buffy. Why'd you think I'd like you better dressed that way?"

Buffy shrugs, "I just... I wanted to be a real girl for once... The kind of fancy girl you liked when you were my age."

"What?" Angel scoffs with a short laugh, "I hated the girls back then. Especially the noblewomen."

"You did?" Buffy stares at him with wide eyes.

"They were just incredibly dull. Simpering morons, the lot of them."

"What about that noblewoman... what was her name? Amelia Lana Rhod-"

"Buffy that was my best friend. Granted she looked like most noblewomen but once I got to know her I realized she wasn't so dull. I never saw her as anything but a friend. I always wished I could meet someone... exciting. Someone interesting. That I would see in a romantic way."

Buffy smiles softly, "Really? Interesting... how?"

Angel chuckles as she throws her arms around his neck and straddles his waist.

"You know how."

"Still, I had a really hard day, and you should probably tell me." She pouts playfully.

"You're right. I should." Angel whispers as he leans closer to her.

"Definitely."

...

"Stay away, away, away

Hide the sun
I will leave your face out of my mind
You should save your eyes
A thousand voices howling in my head

Speak in tongues
I don't even recognize your face
Mirror on the wall
Tell me all the ways to stay away, away, away"

A figure walks through the crowded entrance of the Bronze as he listens to the siren like voice that filled the dark club. As the person leans against a beam, they stare at the stage seeing the brunette beauty that was beginning to haunt his dreams.

His eyes travel up and down her body before falling on her waist which swayed side to side as she closed her eyes and sang.

"And stay away, away, away"

Laney bites her lip waiting for her next verse. She opens her eyes and her gaze immediately falls on the blonde vampire that had become a terror to her friends.

Spike.

"Dig a hole
Fireworks exploding in my hands
If I could paint the sky
Well all the stars would shine a bloody red"

Laney glances over at Colby who was gazing at her like she was the only person in the Bronze, which made her heart skip a beat. But as she turns back to the crowd and her attention is once again on the bloody vampire...

She felt the world disappear.

She felt a cold shiver down her spine.

And worst of all, she felt her stomach clench as her legs tingled.

"Stay away, away, away
And stay away, away, away"

Laney almost glares as if she was trying her best to sing this one line to the one thing that would cause a problem between not just her and her friends, but to her and her future with Colby. She truly saw a life with him.

He was a normal she needed in her life.

He was good.

He was safe.

"And stay away
(I'm hearing voices all the time up in my mind)
(I'm hearing voices and they're haunting my mind)
And stay away
(I'm hearing voices all the time in my mind)
(I'm hearing voices and they're haunting my mind)"

There was something between the two... as much as neither one of them wanted to admit. The tension was great... but Spike thought about Drusilla and her being his everything. He wouldn't ruin that for a little girl who meant absolutely nothing.

Spike chuckles shaking his head as he turns to back to the entrance. Laney frowns watching him disappear.

"Black out days
I don't recognize you anymore"
