Did I Just Hear A Baby?

3rd Person's POV

Xander brings a chair over from the dining room as he turns to Cordelia, "You! Check upstairs. Make sure everything's locked up."

He positions the chair to help hold the table they've upended against the window in place. Cordelia sighs before heading upstairs.

Buffy frowns looking around, "Surely there's somewhere we can go. A safe haven."

Xander shakes his head, "Lady said stay put. Boss Lady also said stay... so we stay."

Buffy frowns, "You would take orders from a woman? A-are you feeble in some way?"

Xander glares slightly, "Ma'am, in the Army we have a saying... sit down and shut the-"

Before he can finish, he stops at a table nearby and grabs a picture that had fallen to the floor

"Whoa!"

This was the picture Laney saw earlier when she was walking around. It was the four of the friends; Laney, Buffy, Willow, and Xander.

"She must be right. We must have some kind of amnesia."

Buffy shakes her head pouting, "I don't know what that is, but I'm certain I don't have it. I bathe quite often!"

"How do you explain this?"

"I don't! I was brought up a proper lady. I-I wasn't meant to understand things. I'm just meant to look pretty, and then someone nice will marry me. Possibly a Baron."

Xander rolls his eyes, "This ain't no tea party, princess. Sooner or later you're gonna have to fight!"

"Oh heavens no darling. All we need are materials to create some sort of... what is it darling?" Laney says from the living room as she listens to their conversation.

"A bomb, tish..." Colby chuckles.

"A bomb! Yes! How delightful. Imagine all the funerals."

"Don't get me started, tish."

Xander frowns slightly, "Boss Lady is kind of morbid."

Buffy paces around not listening anyone only trying to figure out why this Xander fellow would allow herself, a woman, to fight, "Fight these low creatures? I'd sooner die." She replies with a snotty pout as she crosses her arms.

Xander scoffs, "Then you'll die."

Angel quickly comes in from the kitchen and sighs in relief seeing Xander and Buffy.

"Oh, good! You guys are alright. It's total chaos out there."

They both look at him blankly before replying together, "Who are you?"

"Do you live here?"

Angel frowns at Xander confused, "No, and you know that. Buffy..." she jumps making him tilt his head in confusion but continue on anyways, "I'm lost here. You... What's up with your hair?"

Laney walks into the dining room spinning around with a smile, "Oh the feeling I get when the moon comes out."

Colby walks in after her staring her up and down, "Tish, how long has it been since we've waltzed?"

Laney freezes with a small gasp before turning to Colby staring in loving awe, "Oh Gomez... hours."

The two take slow strides to one another before finally meeting hands and beginning to dance around the dining room.Β

Angel stares with wide eyes, "Okay, somebody wanna fill me in?"

Cordelia strides back into the room quickly moving out the way as Laney and Colby spin towards her.

"They don't know who they are, everyone's turned into a monster, it's a whole big thing." Cordelia smiles, "How are you?"

The lights go out making Coraline scream and the baby begin to cry. Laney and Colby quickly leave the room and go to comfort the children. Buffy grabs Cordelia in fright. Cordelia: Do you mind? Buffy lets go of her.

Angel looks around the dark dining room, "Did I just hear a baby?"

Xander ignores him and points, "You take the princess and secure the kitchen. Catwoman, you're with me. Boss Lady and Boss Lady's man, you two get the kids."

"Kids?" Angel asks.

Cordelia sighs before following Xander as Angel shakes his head and walks towards the kitchen seeing that no one would answer his questions.

"But I don't wanna go with you! I-I like the man with the musket!

Angel takes her arm, "C'mon."

Buffy pouts, "Do you have a musket?"

They go into the kitchen and Angel sees that the door is open.

"I didn't leave that open."

He quietly moves toward the door as he looks around for an intruder. Just as he closes the door, the basement door behind Buffy opens, and a vampire attacks her. She tries to push the door closed on him. Angel grabs the vampire and wrestles him to the floor.

"A stake!" Angel yells out.

Buffy looks around the kitchen in question, "A what?"

"Get me a stake!"

Buffy looks once more before shrugging and grabbing a knife she sees on the counter.

"Hurry up!"

He turns to look what's keeping her and has his game face on. Buffy screams at the top of her lungs. She runs for the door.

"Buffy, no!"

She opens the door and runs out.

Laney makes a tsk sound, "Oh poor thing... you scared her."

Colby slams a chair onto the ground and then hands Angel a piece of broken wood. Angel raises an eyebrow at him before shaking the vampire. Laney gasps interested as she watches the vampire turn into dust.

"Wow... that is extraordinary. Isn't it, darling?"

"Very, Cara mia."

Angel stands up fixing his shirt before looking between Laney who was holding the baby in her arms as she was sitting on the counter, and Colby who was leaning against the counter holding a little girls hand.

"Who are they?"

Colby smiles, "Our children, of course."

Angel frowns in confusion, "I don't think that's how it works... uh... okay?"

Laney holds her hand out making Colby grab it and help her down from the counter, "This is Liam. Isn't he just a fright?"

"I guess?"

"And that little monster there is Coraline. What a divine little thing she is."

Angel sighs rubbing his temple, "Yes she is. Listen you two, we have to go get Buffy before she runs into the wrong people-"

Laney gasps, "You mean like Girl Scouts... now those little creatures are animals. Selling those things they call cookies. They're nothing but sugar... and what else did they say they make them with Gomez?"

"Love?"

Laney gags, "Ludicrous. And their bright little smiles... If Coraline here wants to sell anything I would rather it be something to show her phenomenal creative side."

Angel looks over to where Laney was pointing at a wall in the kitchen. The wall was covered in black crayon. His mouth drops in shock.

Colby smiles picking up Coraline, "Our little monster is an artist."

In the library, Giles is going through a stack of cards he's pulled from the card catalog, having no idea what was ongoing on in the outside world.

That is until he hears yelling and sirens outside. He looks up, wondering what's going on and turns around to see Willow come though the wall. He jumps in complete surprise, letting the cards fly all over the place.

"Jeez!"

"Hi." Willow smiles awkwardly.

Giles calms down a bitΒ  and stares at her speechless, "Uh... ah... huh..."

Willow explains everything to him from the events of the night so far. Giles walks to the cage getting a stack of old papers. He blows the dust off of them and comes back out.

Willow frowns looking at a book, "I don't even know what I'm looking for. Plus I can't turn the page."

"Well, alright, l-let's, let's, let's review," He sets the papers on the table, "Um, so everybody became, uh, whatever they were masquerading as."

Willow nods, "Right. Xander was a soldier and Buffy was an 18th-century girl. Laney and Colby are Morticia and Gomez Addams."

Giles takes his glasses off holding a confused stare, "A-and, uh, your, your costume?"

"I'm a ghost!" Willow throws her hands up exclaiming.

"Yes. Um... w, uh, the ghost of what, exactly?"

Willow covers her midriff with her arms pouting, "Well, this is nothing. You should see what Cordelia was wearing. A-a, a unitard with cat things, like ears and stuff."

Giles gasps, "Good heavens. Uh, sh-sh-she became an actual feline?"

Willow shakes her head, "No! She was the same old Cordelia. Just in a cat costume."

"She didn't change."

Willow slowly begins to realize, "No. Hold on... Partytown. She told us she got her outfit from Partytown."

Giles catches on, "A-a-and everyone who changed, they, they, they, they acquired their costumes where?"

"We all got ours at a new place. Ethan's."

Buffy runs between trash can piled up in an alley way. The confused Scooby Gang along with Angel and Cordelia walk along the street looking for Buffy. Xander has his rifle raised and ready.

Xander huffs, "Are you sure she came this way?"

Angel frowns, "No."

Cordelia sighs looking around, "She'll be okay."

Angel shakes his head, "Buffy would be okay. Whoever she is now, she's helpless. C'mon!"

Behind a tree nearby, Spike is hiding and overhearing their conversation. He turns to the child monsters Willow was chaperoning.

"Do you hear that, my friends?"

The monsters nod and growl.

"Somewhere out here is the tenderest meat you've ever tasted, and all we have to do is find her first!"

As the monsters begin running away, Spike stands up straight feeling a shiver run down his spine. He looks up and sees a girl in a black flowy dress with black hair spinning with a grin on her face. She stares up at the moon and then turns to him and waves.

Spike frowns noticing that this was the little slayer trainee. He grins as the girl takes who he figured was her boy toy's hand before they follow along the rest of their friends.

The girl had no idea what was in store for her...

And her friends... of course.

Buffy stops running and leans against a crate. She sniffs and looks around, frightened. Trying to decide what to do, she lifts her skirt a bit and starts to walk once again. She turns around to look behind her and takes a few steps backward. When she turns back around Larry, who has turned into a pirate, startles her. He smiles widely at her, showing his rotten teeth.

"Pretty, pretty!"

Buffy tries to run away, and Larry gives chase. Buffy backs away from Larry. She turns to run, but trips and falls. Her gown billows out around her. Larry grabs her as she tries to get up and shoves her against a crate. He pushes her hair away from her frightened face and moves in to kiss her.

Xander comes running and tackles Larry down to the pavement. He gets up and pulls Larry up and into a metal warehouse door. He punches him in the face and gut. Larry pushes him off and into the opposite alley wall and punches him back in the gut. Xander grabs Larry's arm and pulls it behind his back, forcing him to bend over, and knees him in the stomach.

Cordelia arrives behind Buffy with Angel.

"Buffy! Are you okay?"

Buffy sees Angel, yelps and cowers behind a box.

Cordelia groans, "What's your deal? Take a pill!"

Larry attacks Xander with his pirate's sword. Xander sidesteps him, grabs him by the wrist and twists his arm around, making him drop the sword. He lifts Larry back up and punches him, sending him sprawling into a pile of trash.

Colby nods down at Larry as he lays in the trash groaning, "That is no way to treat a lady." He grabs Laney's hand and slowly begins to kiss up her arm.

Laney smiles at him before giving him a wink, "Not now, Gomez... we have company."

Buffy shakes her head at Cordelia who was trying to talk some kind of sense into her, "He's, he's a vampire!"

Cordelia frowns before turning to Angel; "She's got this thing where she thinks..." Sighing exasperated Cordelia waves her hand nonchalantly, and turns back to Buffy, "Uhhh, forget it. It's okay. Angel is a good vampire. He would never hurt you."

Buffy slowly stands up, "Really?"

Cordelia nods, "Absolutely. He's our friend."

Angel heads over to Xander fighting Larry. Xander punches Larry, sending him into the pile of trash and a stack of boxes again. Several boxes fall off of the top and onto Larry. He is knocked out cold.

Xander turns to Angel and shrugs, "It's strange, but beating up that pirate gave me a weird sense of closure."

Ugh this episode was great. Buffy seriously though? You chose the wrong costume for the worst night πŸ˜‚

What did we think?
