You didn't know what happened, one second you were wearing a jacket to find Steven who haf been gone for 2 days, the next Steven suddenly bolted through the front door and locked himself inside the bathroom; you were worriedly deeply of his sudden action and he was as paled as white paint, he had this terrfied look as well which made you concerned further.
"Steven! Open the door this instant!" Pearl shouted at the bathroom's door with a very worried look.
Amethyst who was beside Pearl joining as well. "Dude, did something happened? You can talk to us!" she comforted.
You watched from behind the mother figures' back in concern, a ton of questions were running inside your mind like trains departed without stopping; you felt your stomach began to churn in nervous, your mother figures' worried yells didn't help either and the fact that Steven locked himself inside the bathroom made you wonder further; you tried to be positive at the moment but you can't think anything nice, Steven who was gone for 2 days suddenly reappeared, bursting through the front door and locked himself away without a word is not good news.
"M- Maybe he's having a stomach ache?" you tried to convince the three of them.
Garnet turned to you with a frown, making you looked at her with a worried look. "(Y/N), I understand that you're trying to be positive for all of our sakes but right now is not the time," she informed, making you hugged yourself and wrapped your waists tighter with your cardigan. "Steven had been gone for two days without giving a word. This is a serious matter," she continued.
You nodded slowly. "Sorry, I wasn't thinking," you apologised.
"It's alright," Garnet said.
Pearl slammed her fist on the door again. "Steven?" she shouted.
"What's going on in there?" Amethyst asked after.
You were startled slightly when the bathroom door was slammed open, you were deep surprised to see Jasper was the one who slammed the door open, the only question that's going through your mind at the moment was how did she got in there when you didn't even saw her figure rushing in earlier? It was confusing and no matter how many times you thought of a way, there would be no logical way of Jasper being in there without running into the bathroom or through the walls, but if she did came from the walls, you would've heard it; there was one way left in your mind but you knew Steven aren't one to do those kind of things; he's compassionate, kind and gentle, not matter how you look at it, it just didn't add up.
The tree mother figures stumbled backwards, furrowing their eyebrows at the familiar orange Gem in front of them. Amethyst glared at her. "Jasper?" she called, still confused.
Pearl furrowed her eyebrows as well. "What are you-"
"Where's Steven?" Amethyst cut off Pearl by yelling.
Jasper stepped out of the way and pointed her arm towards the door. "Right here," she said.
You furrowed your eyebrows to why Jasper was saluting to Steven as if he was one of the Diamonds, your eyes slowly widened in realization, the one thing you thought Steven would never do in his entire life became a might; and that thought alone scared you so much that you trembled on your feet.
"Steven? Where have you been?" Amethyst questioned.
Your suspicion risened when Steven didn't respond to Amethyst. You quickly dragged your feet towards Steven who was staring at the floor with a paled face. Unfortunately, Jasper was blocking your way using her arm, blocking you with ease. "Steven. Please don't tell me you really..." you couldn't finish the sentence as you felt yourself like throwing up.
Steven didn't answer you as well, making your face paled further as you rested your body on Jasper's arm, your breaths began to shake, you shook your head slowly, Steven would never do something like that, at least it's what you thought.
Steven suddenly took a take off and rushed towards his conservatory, making everyone called out to him but he still didn't answer and continue ignoring everyone; Jasper saluted him again, making her grasp towards you left.
"You can't just disappear for days without telling us!" Pearl snapped, chasing after him.
The four of you followed, your heart thumping hardly against your chest, the impossible had became a might and that scared you terribly, thinking Steven once did that to someone was something you never imagined of.
Jasper gave the four of you a bored look, resting her arms behind her waists. "My diamond can do as he pleases," she told.
Amethyst's eyes widened as she looked up at Jasper. "Wait, what?"
"Why are you calling him that?" Pearl asked.
My Diamond can do as he pleases.
That sentence made your heart dropped to the stomach and coming back up to your throat but you forced yourself to not throw up; you were sweating river as you kept on staring Steven's back, Steven still hadn't turn or take a glance behind his back and it made you even more worried.
Steven was such a good kid, he helped people who're in need without taking anything back, he would flashed everyone a very bright smile to brighten up the moods, he's the person who no matter how much he messed up, he would find a way to fix it.
Your feet froze from walking, making everyone passed by you.
Was he... scared...?
You cupped your mouth, eyes widening.
Was he depressed?
You looked back to where they were going which they had began to enter the Conservatory after Steven; your finger twitched as you exhaled slowly.
Was he in need of help after all this time?
You took a step, then took another, and before you knew it, you were running upstairs, rushing to catch Steven into a tight embrace.
How can I be so blind? He's been mourning alone for so long... His traumatic past, his tragic backstory, his smiles and laughter... Why would he hide the pain? Alone?
You gripped the side of the door, pushing your body and quickly tood 2 steps forward, your eyes scanned the room as you panted heavily; Steven was on the warp pad while glowing pink, he used his power to block the other's path way, his Diamond pupils on yours as he frowned deeply.
Two words sent your knees buckling, two words sent your eyes goes teary, two words made your heart shattered.
I'm sorry.
He mouthed before warping himself away.
"Steven!" you shouted after him.
Your legs raced towards the border, used your Gem to form two circle platforms around your fists as you punched it through one punch, breaking Steven's border broke into pieces; the border disappeared as soon as you broke them, you panted, everyone's eyes were on you.
You let an angry tear rolled down your cheek, you huffed heavily in anger.
"Shit!" you cursed loudly, gripping a load of your hair and pulled them.

"Do you think she's doing okay?" Pearl asked anxiously to Garnet.
Garnet let her pupils glanced to the floor behind her visor. "I... I'm not sure," she said truthfully.
Amethyst who was sitting on the couch, legs crossed, looked up at the other two worried Gems. "Where did she go?" she asked.
Pearl rubbed the back of her neck. "She only said that she wanted to let off some steam. I'm not sure where," she answered.
Amethyst glanced at her side where Jasper was sitting. She patted her arm that was crossed across her chest. "You doing okay?" she was making sure.
Jasper pulled her hand away from Amethyst's touch harshly and scoffed loudly at her. "'Course I'm fine!" she grumbled.
The warp pad rang, signaling that you had returned from wherever you had just came from, the mother figures stood up immediately with a relieved look on their faces as they shakily exhaled; they examined you who's drenched in sweat, your clothes were drenched as well, you were panting slightly but other than that, you looked as fine as usual.
"(Y/N)," Pearl called nervously.
They watched you wiped your sweats using your sleeves, you looked up at them with a pair of tired eyes as you breathed out; you shakily walked up towards them.
You looked at the orange Gem who was squinting her eyes at you. "Jasper. A word," you told.
Jasper raised an eyebrow at you but stand up nevertheless, you smiled gratefully at her and led her to Steven's bedroom witout any of the mother figures following but only trailed their eyes until the both of you were gone from their sights; you told Jasper to sit down on Steven's mattress which she did, still crossing her arms.
You fiddled with your cardigan sleeves nervously, biting your lower lip. Jasper continued to look at you curioisly, still raising an eyebrow at you. "Jasper... Be honest with me," you said nervously, looking into her golden eyes. "Did Steven...?" you couldn't finish asking her.
Jasper slowly looked down to your toes, feeling ashamed somehow. "Hm," she hummed as an answer.
Your eyes teared up, the only impossible thing you thought Steven would never do had been done and can't be undone; you brought Jasper's head to your chest, hugging her softly, you brought your hands and ruffled her hair gently; though Jasper wouldn't admit it but your hugs was always the best hug she had ever received, she had received a couple of hugs from you when you visited her at her place and she had always been looking forward to it; your hugs was a motherly hug and she loved it.
"I hope you're doing okay," you comforted, running your hands on her neck and hair.
Jasper closed her eyes and tried to feel every touch that was received, she didn't say anything again and just hummed, deepening her head on your chest; you let a tear rolled down your chin and onto her hair which she didn't mind and kept memorising your touch.
You sniffled. "You must've been so scared," you told shakily.
Jasper squinted her eyes on your chest. "You're stink," she replied.
You chuckled at her words and nodded, agreeing with her words. "I was letting off some steam," you explained.
"I've heard," Jasper said. "Where?" she asked.
You glanced at the ceiling. "Around your home. The trees were tough," you answered.
"Figured," she said shortly. Slowly, Jasper wrapped her arms around your tiny waists and brought your body closer. "It was scary..." she admitted. She nuzzled her face on your chest.
You ruffled her hair to comfort her further. "Of course it is. I can't imagine what you're feeling right now."
She hummed and closed her eyes again, you frowned at her frailed figure, she didn't shiver or flinching or crying but you could tell it was a horrible experience, if you were about to be murdered, you would be terrified as well; you sighed sadly, you pecked the top of her head.
The poor tough Gem was defeated badly by Steven, you couldn't imagined; Jasper hugged you slightly tighter, you caressed her hair continuously, you looked at a horizon, giving yourseld a look of determined.
You're going to help Steven go through this.

Steven who was still glowing pink entered his bedroom after another 2 days of missing, as he entered his bedroom, he saw you were sleeping on his bed comfortably while wearing one of his spare shirts, Steven felt himself smiling at the sleeping you but the moment was immediately interrupted when Steven's phone rang loudly; Steven winced and quickly picked up the call, making sure you were still sleeping, he sighed in relief when you did.
Steven checked the caller ID and almost let out a wince when he saw it was Connie who was calling him early in the morning. "...Hey, Connie. What's up?" he greeted poorly.
"Steven! Good, you finally picked up! I can't believe we haven't spoken since the hospital. How are you?" Connie asked him eagerly.
Steven remembered how he didn't meet up with Connie much anymore since he didn't want to interrupt her study session and how he didn't call as much either. Steven put on an awkward and nervous smile, even though Connie won't be able to see it. "I'm great! Never been better!" he answered awkwardly, almost cracking his voice as he did.
Connie hummed. "Really? Have you had any more issues with swelling and glowing pink?" Connie asked curiously. Behind the phone, Connie bit her nails nervously, worrying of Steven's wellbeing.
Steven let out a nervous laugh. "Um, nope? Well maybe, but how about you? How's college prep?" he changed the subject quickly.
Connie furrowed her eyebrows further at Steven's words. "Steven, that's, uh- It's fine, but what do you mean, maybe?" she asked back.
Steven waved his free hand around. "Look, there's nothing to worry about. I'm okay," he pressured.
"Steven..." Connie called. Steven could tell she was frowning at the other side of the call.
Steven rubbed the back of his neck, glancing to his toes, missing a sandal. "I should go. I don't wanna wake up the Gems," he told.
"But they don't even sleep," Connie said.
Steven began to become more nervous. "Uh- I meant (Y/N)! I don't want to wake (Y/N)! Uh, bye!" he quickly hung up.
Steven groaned, he slipped his phone inside his pocket and sat at the corner of his bed, bouncing slightly; he turned around his head and looked at the sleeping figure you, you were snoring softly, Steven frowned when he saw the eye bags you had, it was obvious you were staying up late, waiting for his arrival that will never came, Steven felt guilty for making you go through that.
Steven sighed defeatedly, rubbing his tired face. He could feel circles forming under his eyes and it was slightly bothering him. Steven turned and looked at a painting where he had put up a long time ago. "I'm fine," he assured himself. "I'm fine, I'm fine, I'm fine," he continued to say to himself. He chuckled to himself. "I mean, I'm the Steven Universe! I'm the boy who always messes up and fixes up his own mistake," Steven stood up with a confident smile. His Diamond height easily towering whoever standing in front of him. "Yeah..." he muttered, smiling wider while furrowing his eyebrows, feeling determined. "I'm fine!" his voice accidentally shattered the glasses that was on the balcony window.
You gasped sharply, sitting up on your bed quickly as your eyes quickly moved on Steven, eyes widened; you set a hand on your chest, feeling your heart racing dangerously at the sudden shattering yell, you furrowed your eyebrows, crawling on the bed and approached Steven slowly.
"Steven," you called, panting slightly. Your heart was still racing.
Steven laughed sheepishly, scratching the back of his head even though it wasn't itchy. "(Y/N)! I'm sorry for waking you up, love! Go back to sleep!" he said rather fastly.
You raised an eyebrow at his nervous state. "No, no. I'm already awake," you looked at Steven in deep worry. "Steven, where were you?" you asked him.
Steven chuckled nervously. "No where! You know, just, here and there," he continued to chuckle nervously.
You held his arm gently, giving him a pleading look. "Steven, just talk to me," you invited him on the bed, patting at the empty spot at your side.
Steven just smiled awkwardly at you. He gave a glance to the spot you were patting at before looking back at you. He gulped. "No, thanks! I'm going to LH! I'll be back late again!" he quickly said and turned around from you.
"Steven," you called again.
Steven was about to run down the stairs but his mother figures were blocking his way with deep worry looks on their faces, Steven backed away from them as if they were some kind of contagious virus and returned back to square one, he was quickly cornered by women; you stood up behind him, questioning and ordering him to open up to you as the mother figures were firing questions at him as well, the voices in the room made Steven overwhelmed as he burst out from the room and rushed to Little Homeworld, everyone gasped at the sudden speed and the disappearence of Steven; you stood at where you are with furrowed eyebrows.
You looked at the three Gems in front of you. "Guys," you called, making their worry chattering earlier stopped. "Take care of Steven for me. I have something to settle in," you told them.
They nodded at your words and quickly ran after Steven who was probably already be there, you sighed alone and sat back on the bed; firstly, you cleaned up the room, making sure everything is in their places before continuing your phase two, you grabbed your phone and went to contact, scrolling down and down, you found Connie's contact number; you inhaled for a moment, furrowing your eyebrows as you hesitantly pressed the call button, you set the phone beside your ear and heard it was ringing for a few seconds before Connie answered the call.
"Hello?" she answered the call.
"Connie," you called. You balled a fist as you bit your lower lip nervously. "Code red."

"But he said he was fine just a while ago," Connie said behind her hand as she continued to pace around the living room.
You who were also pacing around the room bit your lip. "Of course he would say that. He's Steven Universe!" you shrieked under pressure.
"Then, what should we do now?" she stopped pacing for a moment to look at you.
You looked back at her hesitantly before continuing pacing around. "I... don't know," you muttered. You stopped pacing completely. You looked at Connie with a serious look. You grabbed her by her shoulders gently but firmly. "But what I do know is that you are the one who's supposed to comfort him," you told her.
Connie's eyes widened. "What? Why me? You're the girlfriend here!" she shrieked.
"There's no girlfriend-boyfriend of father-mother relationship here!" you told her, silencing her quickly. You inhaled and breathed out softly. You closed your eyes for a moment. "The only thing we need to focus right now is to figure out who he will listen to. And, the answer is you. He will listen to you," you said, pointing to her. Connie gave you a hesitated look. "Listen. I know we're still kind of in a tensed situation but Steven needs you. I've tried to make him listen but he just won't. You're his best friend. You knew him longer than I know him. You know him well. You've been there ups and downs with him. You're our only chance, Connie," you explained to her.
Connie inhaled shakily. She averted her gaze and looked down to her toes. "What if he didn't listen to me, too?" she asked nervously, looking up at you.
You gave her a confident smile and gave her a friendly punch on her shoulder. You winked at her. "He will," you said confidentially.
Connie slowly smiled back at you and nodded her head, the moment was quick to be interrupted when the both of you heard Steven's voice from out of nowhere; the both of you searched around the room for Steven but he was nowhere to be found and he sounded close too, you looked at Connie who fished out her phone and looked at the screen, you did the same and looked at her screen, seeing Steven was dancing up and down while not blinking and had a creepy smile, it chanted 'Steven's here to help' as it glitched and turned his sentence to 'Help Steven'.
You looked at Connie who was looking back at you, she was frowning as she put back her phone inside her pocket, the noise of Steven was heard very slightly but it didn't bother the both of you much; Connie rubbed her face and groaned.
"This is much worse than we thought," she groaned.
You nodded your head. "I know."
The front door burst open, startling you and Connie at the same time, you looked at the front door to see Pearl, Amethyst and Garnet entering the room with distressed looks on their faces; you exhaled in relief, you thought it was Steven and the both of you hadn't have any plan planned out yet.
They sat on the couch. They looked deeply disappointed. "What happened?" Connie asked them.
Pearl sighed heavily. "Steven's not in his right mind and it frightened me- us! He kept on helping out and ended up destroying Little Homeworld!"
"What?" you and Connie yelled in unison.
"Like she said," Amethyst pointed her thumb at Pearl. She then looked at the both of you. "And since when he was that tall?" she asked in confusion.
You slumped your shoulders. "Since today, I assume," you answered.
"What should we do now?" Connie asked in worry, making everyone's attention averted to her. "We can't let him keep destroying everything. We have to do something!" she panicked.
You snapped your fingers. "Call Greg. He might know something," you suggested.
Connie nodded and pulled out her phone once more and dialed Greg's number, she left the room to not make any noise since you and the Gems had some discussion to do; you paced around again with a hand covering your mouth as your eyes glued to the floor.
"This is totally not normal. But, what can we do to prevent this abnormality?" you questioned to yourself, feeling your head beginning to squeeze when you think harder. You massaged your head that's starting to ache. "Ugh... How?" you continued to pressure yourself.
"Maybe you should rest up a bit," Pearl said in worry.
You continued pacing around the room, making the mother figures grew more anxious. "Can't. I need to find something that'll make Steven better," you paused your step. "Steven, Steven, Steven," you chanted. You beginning straightened your body as an idea entering your mind. "That's it!" you turned to the mother figures with a huge smile.
Amethyst furrowed her eyebrows. "What?"
"Therapist!" you beamed up.
"Therapist?" Connie repeated, entering the room once more with her phone was tucked away in her pocket.
You turned to her and nodded your head. "I guarantee this'll help. Who knows better to cure traumatic past other than us? Therapist!" you stated your reason.
Pearl raised an eyebrow. "How would you know therapists will make him feel better?" she asked.
You scoffed and pointed your thumb to you. You smiled confidentially. "You're talking to a person who had an experience with therapists!" you told them. "I've been to a lot of therapists before but none had worked except for Carla. We all just need to find the suitable person for him and it'll all go better," you suggested.
Connie locked her hips. "But how do we know which one?"
You smiled at her. "We don't," you answered shortly.
Connie frowned. "Now you're just confusing me," she told.
You giggled and shook your head. "No, what I meant is we bring him to them. If the therapists didn't suit him, he can find another, just like how I did," you explained.
"Steven! I'm here!" Greg bust the front door, panting heavily as he sweating river. He looked around and began to panicked even more when he didn't see his son there. "Where's my son?" he yelled.
"Greg, please calm down. He's still in Little Homeworld," you told. You grabbed his arm and led him to the couch as he automatically sat down. You go back to the front. "Thank you for coming here in a short amount of time, Greg. We figured you might be able to calm him down a bit," you said to him which he nodded at. You looked at the group in all seriousness. "I have a plan. We just need to wait for Steve," you glanced at the front door.

The warp pad lightened up and faded when Steven had entered the house, nothing had changed much, he's still glowing pink and taller than everyone, he still had those painful smile on his face which worried you deeply; when Steven had entered the house, you and Connie stood up in unison with worried faces.
"Steven!" Connie called in worry. Steven's smile faded as soon as he saw Connie and the others in the room. "I knew it! You are swelling and glowing again," she frowned. She hold out her phone and showed her screen that's been having showing Steven dancing and chanted 'Help Steven' for the past 45 minutes. Steven smiled awkwardly at this. "What's going on?" she lowered her phone.
Steven rubbed the back of his neck nervously. "I... broadcast my subconscious sometimes these days. It's really no big deal," he waved and shrugged casually.
Connie frowned. "Okay, but... I can tell something is bothering you," she said.
Steven chuckled. "Ah, I don't know what you're talking about. I'm fine! Awesome, in fact. Come on, you've seen me when I wasn't doing well," he said quickly.
Connie looked at you and you looked back at her. You turned and looked at Greg, giving him a pleading look. Greg nodded and looked at his son, frowning softly. "Steven, if being like this is what you want, then we'll support you one hundred percent," he started. The five of you nodded at his words. "Whatever makes you happy. But, if you're not happy, if something's wrong-"
"Nothing's wrong! Besides, I don't want you to worry," he quickly interrupted.
"We are worried," Connie raised her voice.
Greg squeezed his fists tighter. "Steven, you know you can tell us anything," he told sincerely.
Steven's smiled faded as he looked at his toes. He balled his hands tightly that it showed his veins and knuckles went white. You noticed his behaviour and heart thumping hardly against your chest. "It's not that easy!" he snapped. Everyone looled at him in silence. Then, he massaged his eyes and chuckled at everyone. "You know what? I don't have to deal with this," he hissed, walking towards the front door with a very angry look on his face.
You looked at the mother figures and gave them a nod. They went to the door and blocked his way before he could even take another step towards it. "Hold up dude," Amethyst said, spreading her arms to prevent Steven from going out.
"Steven! You have to stop running," Pearl pleaded.
"Please," Greg continued after Pearl.
Steven turned around and was about to take warp pad to leave the place but paused his steps when you were in front of him, in a verge of crying; he looked down at you with eyes widened.
You were hugging yourself lightly, looking up at Steven with glassy eyes. "Steven..." you called.
Steven stumbled back, ended up in the middle of the crowd as he began swelling again, the crowd gasped as they watched Steven in horror; he was swelling on his face and at times on his shoulders, he held his head and squeezed his eyes shut, screaming in pain; you tried to reached out to him but backed away when you realised it was much worse than you had thought it'd be.
Connie's eyes widened at the scene before her as she yelled. "Steven, we should get you back to the hospital," she told.
Amethyst and Pearl's eyes widened at Connie's words. "Hopsital?" they yelled in unison.
"When were you in the hospital?" Pearl asked, forcing an answer from Steven.
"Guys! You're making it worse!" you shouted.
Steven waved them off, chuckling again. "It wasn't important, you guys. You're making a big deal out of nothing!" he began and laughed. "Have I done some things wrong? Sure! I trashed the house today! I broke an avil! What teenager hasn't?" he forced a laugh. "Dad and I had a little disagreement. That's practically a rite of passage!" he told. Greg looked at the others awkwardly, shrugging his shoulders. "I mean, it would be weird if we didn't, right?" he asked the others. They only gave him gazes of awkward. "I've lost my virginity to (Y/N) which felt awesome and I wanted to do it again!" he exclaimed. Everyone's gaze turned on you as you shrinked under their gazes. You weren't embarrased at the moment and was more into overwhelmed anxious. "And maybe, I've had a not-so-nice thought or two about, like, you know, slamming White Diamond's head through a pillar," he confessed, making everyone gasped. But then he quickly covered it up. "But it's not like I actually went through with it!" his eye twitched. "I only actually shattered Jasper!"
Everyone's eyes widened in shock at his last sentence and gasped sharply. Even though you already knew the truth, the confession he made sounded proudly, too. "You're- You're joking, right?" Connie asked.
You shook your head very slowly. "No, he's not," you looked at your toes, eyes still widened in surprise.
Steven looked at you and let out a string of stressed laughs. "Don't worry, (Y/N)! I fixed that, too! I can fix anything! I can just keep messing up and fixing things forever, and you'll never have to know or think any of it!" he gripped his hair, bit his lower lip hard.
"Steven..." Garnet called.
Steven gasped. His eyes went teary as it was frustrated tears. He gritted his teeth so hard that he could feel his teeth digging up his gums. "How messed up is that?" he said shakily. "That I've gotten away with this for so long. You have no idea how bad I am," he confessed. You cupped your mouth, eyes widened still as you looked at the troubling Steven. "You think I'm so great, and I'm so mature, and I always know what to do, but that's not true!" he inhaled shakily. His tears rolling down his cheek one by one. "I haven't learned a thing from my problems! They've all just made me worse!" he sobbed.
Greg frowned deeply at his son's worried, Connie bit her lower lip, Garnet looked down and grimaced, you hugged yourself as you shakily breathed, Pearl wiped her tears and Amethyst only furrowed her eyebrows in worried; you wanted to reach for him again but he seemed upset and mostly frustrated, so you left him alone even though it wasn't the best choice.
"You think of me as some angel, but, I'm not that kid anymore!" Steven continued. He sighed. "I'm a fraud..." you were quickly on guard by his shaky words. Steven fell on his knees, letting a sob. "I'm a fraud!" he yelled. He grabbed his head with both hands as his body started shaking violently. Your eyes widened at this as you were ready to use your power. "I'm a monster!" he shouted.
"Get back!" you stood in front of them and used your Gem to form platforms in front of you and began surrounding the others as well.
Steven's form went bigger and bigger and he didn't look like Steven Universe anymore but instead, he looked like one of the Godzilla movies you binged a long time ago; his body bumped into your shield, making everyone stumbled outside and onto the sand, fortunately, Steven managed to got out of the house and onto the open field before he could destroy the house fully.
You gasped for air and released your power, making everyone landed gently on the sand, they groaned in pain but shrugged it off and quickly looked up at Steven who was roaring, making the ground shake; you sat up, huffing as your jaw dropped at the horror sight before you.
"Was he... corrupted?" Connie asked as she stood up on her feet.
You stood up on your shaky legs as well, panted heavily. You looked at Steven who seemed lost and kept on roaring out of anger. "I... I think so," you admitted. You cupped your mouth and rubbed your face. "Oh, God. I saw this coming but I still couldn't do anything," you panted continuously.
Connie put her hand on your back. "It's not your fault," she spoke softly.
Greg stepped forward and cupped his cheeks. He looked more devastated than the others. "Just calm down, son! Take deep breaths! Deep breaths!" Greg tried to comfort his son.
Steven looked down and roared once more, not listening to a word he wss saying to him; Amethyst tried to comfort him as well, only to receive his claw landed near her as she avoided it and dived away, Steven straightened his posture and roared louder than before, from below, you could feel his anger and frustration he was keeping from everyone and you understood well in this matter but it made you upset to know you barely can do anything to make him feel better.
Suddenly, Bismuth, Peridot and Lapis landed beside you and got ready to fight.
"Let's hurry up and clobber that thing!" Peridot exclaimed, hands in the air as she tried to gather metals from anywhere nearby.
Garnet who was a couple feet in front you turned around with a frown. "Stand down," she ordered, making the three new arrival Gems confused.
"What for?" Peridot objected.
Lapis looked around for a certain someone but couldn't find him. "Where's Steven?" she asked worriedly.
Garnet looked at them seriously. "That is Steven," she exclaimed, making the three Gems gasped and yelled in disbelief.
"Guys, look out!" you told, pointing to Steven.
Steven went and proceed to bash his head against the cliff of the temple, causing boulders to fall; you quickly formed another shield around you and Connie, tried as hard to stay protected as the boulders hit your shield, Connie was barely flinched and continued to watch the scene unfold before her; your Gem began to flicker but you ignored it and continued to form the shield around the two of you until it had cleared up.
Once it finished, you put down the shield and kneeled, panting heavily at the over-usaged your power since you barely practiced using your power and instead was focusing on physical combats and swords; Connie rushed to you and held your hair up quick.
"He's not listening to us at all!" Amethust whined, panting slightly.
Pearl landed beside Amethyst. "What happened to him? First, he says he's a shatterer, and then he's turned into... this thing!" Pearl explained shortly.
Connie helped you stand up and looked at the others. "We can change him back, can't we?" she asked, furrowing her eyebrows.
Garnet looked down. "As long as he believes he's a monster, he'll stay as one," she told.
Steven roared again, catching everyone's attention back to him, he noticed a town nearby and let out a roar once more before walking towards it; Bismuth's eyes widened as she saw he was walking towards the town.
"We gotta keep him away from the town!" Bismuth exclaimed.
Garnet looked at Connie. "Connie, do what you can to protect the townspeople," she ordered.
Connie nodded and left with Lion, you xould barely process what's going on and the next thing you knew, Garnet, Pearl and Amethyst had fused and became Alexandrite; Alexandrite jumped on Steven's back, clawing on his skin and stopping him from continuing climbing over the lighthouse, unfortunately, Steven slammed his back on the cliff and forced the mother figures to unfused.
You watched as Peridot sat behind Bismuth and helped Bismuth flew towards Steven's face and gave a hit on him, making him roared angrily; as Peridot and Bismuth leaving, Steven turned around and kept his eyes towards the two, catching his attention.
Bismuth and Peridot led him into the ocean which it worked, Steven stepped into the water and was about to attack them but Lapis created whirpool under him and caught his ankles by water chains, caging him on spot; Steven struggled and roared loudly when he wasn't be able to move, Lapis stay in the air nearby Steven and kept her eyes on him, she held two fists in front of her, signalling she was struggling to hold him.
Lapis began to sweat. "I've got him, but I can't hold him forever!" she panted.
You panicked even more, you grabbed a load of your head and pulled them, you didn't know why you were so stressed of since the others could fix the situation by themselves but maybe it was because paet of you were feeling guilty to why Steven had turned corrupted; you bit your lower lip and huffed, your mind kept on giving out the same question, 'what can you do?'.
Slowly, you loosened your fingers as it stung from you gripping your hair too tight, you looked at the panic Gems and stared, slowly having a plan forming in your; you shook your head, not thinking it was possible but you couldn't think of any other possible ideas.
A gush of strong wind hit you when the Diamonds' ship landed, you were confused to why they were here since no one had given a word to them; then, Spinel came out of the ship, holding one of Steven's sandals which you thought missing, your eyes widened when you realised Steven had met the Diamonds for help before he went corrupted, they must've not provide any good help for Steven since when he returned to the room, he's still in his Diamond shape and glowing pink.
"You forgot your foot thong thing-y," Spinel sang and waved his flip flop between her fingers. Spinel opened her closed eyes and screamed in surprise. "Oh, what?" she yelled, letting go the flip flop.
The Diamonds walked out the ship with smiles on their faces, but the smile didn't last long when they saw a Lapis was holding a monster caged far away from Beach City; White Diamond huffed and rolled her eyes.
"Why is something like this always happening when we show up for a visit?" she asked sarcastically.
Blue Diamond soon chimed in. "What is that thing?" she asked in her soft and gentle voice.
Garnet turned and looked at the Diamonds. "That thing is Steven," she repeated her words.
The Diamonds gasped in horror. Blue Diamond then teared up. "Is he corrupted?" she asked, tearfully.
Garnet shook her head. "Never mind that. We have to change him back," Garnet told.
Yellow Diamond smirked at her words, stepoing forward. "Leave it to me," she said proudly.
Yellow Diamond rubbed her fingers together and shot Steven an energy aura, forcing his head to shrink but it was not working when Steven roared in protest; his action surprised Yellow Diamond to why her new power didn't work, Blue Diamond smiled softly at her and told her that he maybe need to be happy first so she stepped forward and blew a blue cloud that she created, the cloud didn't get to touch Steven as he roared, making the cloud goes back towards its owner, Yellow Diamond stood in front of Blue Diamond and got hit by the cloud, quickly kenched and told her that it didn't work either while laughing.
White Diamond had enough and pushed the other two Diamonds aside, she told that by connecting her with Steven might help so she approached Steven, entering the ocean zone and inhaled, closing her eyes; Steven struggled under Lapis's chains, making she struggled even more, White Diamond told Steven to relaxed as she used her new power on Steven, she managed to got in for a moment before she was snapped back into reality and fell, the other two Diamonds goes to her and helped her sit.
"What happened?" Blue Diamond asked her.
White Diamond looked at Steven in deep horror. "Oh! That's not Steven anymore!" she yelled in fear.
Steven roared, he pulled his arm and managed to got free out of one of the chains that was on his body, Lapis sweat further as she tightened her fists.
"I- I can't hold him much longer!" she exclaimed, feeling exhausted quickly.
Steven's eyes and spikes began to glow, you watched curiously at him as you were ready to shield yourself and anybody nearby; Steven opened his mouth and let out the loudest roar, from the roar, you could sense frustration and furious and it made your heart clenched at the sight; his roar managed to pushed everyone aay from him, making everyone landed back on the sand, your shield wasn't much of use and quick to break when the gush of wind hit them, making your body flew and hit the cliff; you gasped for air and kneeled, tears brisking your eyes at the painful hit.
Fotunately, Cluster made it in time and held Steven back, Steven grew frustrated by this and continued to roar, he even clawed Cluster but Cluster tried as hard to not let him go.
Peridot's eyes widened and jaw dropped. "I can't believe it! He's even stronger than the Cluster!" she yelled in disbelief.
Bismuth kneeled beside her, squinting her eyes at Steven. "Don't let your guard down. He could break free at any moment," she told.
Pearl sighed and looked sadly at Steven. Her eyes glistened as she frowned at her son figure. "Deep inside this... monster. Steven must be in there, so angry," she assumed.
You perked up at Pearl's words. Amethyst smacked her forehead guiltily. "I knew something was going on. I- uh- why didn't I do something?" she teared up from frustration.
You looked at the blue sobbing Gem. You didn't even notice Garnet wad unfused. You saw Ruby was holding her, embracing to comfort her. "If we don't get through him, he'll stay like this forever!" she sobbed out loud. Ruby joined her but sobbing softly.
Greg stood up, looking at his son in disbelief, Amethyst who was wiping her frustrated tears away alerted Greg to stay back but he protested and denied her request.
"Every time Gem stuff happens, I run the other way! This is my son! And he's right to be angry because I didn't protect him!" Greg shouted, eyes goes glassy at the sight of Steven struggling under Cluster's hold.
Blue Diamond continued to tear up. "You didn't protect him from us! He's like this because of us!" she whimpered and sobbed.
Yellow Diamond cried as well. "We're the source of Steven's suffering!" she admitted.
Spinel cried on Yellow Diamond's shoulder. "This is my fault!" she sobbed, blowing her nose on her hair.
White Diamond denied Spinel. "Spinel, don't be silly! Everyone knows that all of this is because of me!" she sobbed, outting her wrist on her forehead.
Spinel shook her head and shoved her thumb on her chest. "No! It's because of me! I tried to wipe his friend's memories so he could die alone on a barren world!"
White Diamond cried harder. "But that was because you were angry with Pink, and if Pink hurt you, it was because I hurt her! Like I hurt Yellow, and Blue, and Steven, and everyone in the entire universe! This is all my fault!" she sobbed loudly.
"Yes, it is!" Connie screamed.
You looked up of the cliff, seeing Connie was riding Lion with an angry look on her.
"Yes, you hurt him, but this isn't the time to make this all about you! That is not helping! Maybe Steven would care how sad you are because he always puts everyone else's feelings first! But he can't do that for you right now, because he needs us this time!" she exhaled softly. Her voice grew softer than before. "We all had Steven when he needed him, but the only person who doesn't have Steven... is Steven. He's always been there for us, so..." she closed her eyes for a moment and opened them again, putting her hand on her chest. Her eyes glistened with tears. "How can we be there for him now?" she questioned.
"She's right," you said, catching everyone's attention. You quickly waved your hands around. "Uh! Sorry, I didn't mean to interrupt!"
Ruby and Sapphire fused back, smiling at you. "I heard you had a plan," she reminded.
Your face brightened up at her words. You looked at the Diamonds. "Yellow Diamond, if you may, could you please make Garnet as big as Steven?"
"On it!" she rubbed her fingers again and send the energy to Garnet, making her physique as bigger as Steven.
"Blue Diamond, will you please lift everyone up?"
"Of course!" she perked up. Blue Diamond created more blue clouds as everything climbed on them and floated in the air.
You, who was still on the ground, stepped forward with a confident smile. "Now guys, line up! It's time to show Steven... some love!" you exclaimed.
Garnet smirked. "Supposed to be my line," she joked as she began to run towards Steven with wide open arms.
Everyone marched forward, yelling out war as they were thinking the same as you did, Garnet took the lead and was followed by the Gems, Diamonds followed a little bit after and you stayed put; Connie noticed you weren't moving from above as she patted Lion and told him to go to you, he roared and created a portal which landed beside you, when Lion landed, you didn't flinch and continued to watch the scene unfold in front of you with a smile, seeing everyone beginning to yell their heart out and hugged Steven wholeheartedly.
"Why aren't you going out there?" Connie asked.
You set a hand on your stomach, turning to Connie with a smile. "It's not me who's suppose to be in the spotlight, remember?" you said to Connie. "I'm not even a member of this family," you continued.
"Of course you are! You're his girlfriend so-"
"Being his girlfriend doesn't define me being apart of the family. I... barely have any history with him but you have a lot," you pointed at her. "You grew up with him and I interrupted. I'm sorry for whatever trouble I've caused you and I apologise for stealing him from you," you closed your eyes, feeling your head getting dizzier. "Take care of Steven for me," you smiled, patting her shoulder. Connie hesitated. "You remember the plan, don't you? Do what you need to do," you said, pointing to your forehead.
Connie nodded with a determined look, she patted Lion again and told him to approached Steven, Lion created a portal once more and left you behind; you watched as Lion telepoted himself in the air and Connie jumped on top of Steven's nose, you couldn't hear her speech but you were sure it sounded super inspirational.
"Go, Connie," you managed to whisper before coughing out blood.
You looked at the hand that was on your stomach, seeing your whole palm was covered in blood, you hitched your shirt upwards and saw there was a rock sticking out on your stomach, you coughed out blood once more as a couple of tears escaped your eyes.
As Steven had started glowing, your vision goes blurry for a moment, you continued to watch as Steven shrunk and returned to his hybrid self once again, they all sat on top of Cluster's palm and covered Steven's nude body with a blue blanket; you smiled painfully at the sight, your legs started giving out as you felt your body goes heavy and fell on your back, black covering your vision quickly.
