It was late as the friends gathered around now all together and enjoying each other's company, well most of them that is. Since her arrival Kiba has been practically glued to Tamaki and has never left her side, to make it even worse they also sat near Hinata and Shino as they all talked endlessly about their past together as friends.

Meanwhile Naruto sat between Shikamaru and Gaara along with Sakura at their table. They had decided to eat outside and enjoy the summer night air while Temari, Neji and Choji cooked. He was disappointed to say the least, seeing that smile on Kiba's face and the way Tamaki looked at him as he spoke.

"Tsk, that asshole."

"Hm, what was that?" Sakura asked.

"Nothing, I was just thinking about school and all the tests we have after all this."

"Oh, well I'm looking forward to it. It's been a minute since I've done some self studying indulgence."

"We can tell, it was almost like you weren't going to make it earlier." Ino pointed out.

"Tsk, you're still on that?" Sakura sighed. "I said I was sorry and that it was a surprise why we came so late."

"Some surprise." Ino scuffed. "Next time bring cake or something, some I'm sorry flowers would've been fantastic so I can put them in my room."

"How much flowers does one girl need in her life?"

"Enough to fill Konoha Stadium."

"Haha, shut up would you."

"Don't think because Sasuke was driving that I won't turn on him too, ha." Ino dared, earning a chuckled from Sakura as the two continued with their back and forth dialogue.

The sound of Sasuke's name seemed to have brought Naruto out of the trance he didn't know he had fallen into. The way he's been staring at Kiba for so long and the latter had not even batted an eye towards him made him feel indifferent.

"You okay?" Gaara asked, noticing his behavior.

"Hm, yeah. I'm fine."

"Don't overthink it, okay?" Shikamaru replied.

"What?"

"Whatever it is that's on your mind, don't overthink it." He repeated as he stared at Kiba and Tamaki. "It's probably not what you think it is."

"What are you some kind of mind reader?"

"He could be." Gaara smirked.

"Don't label me, it's a drag when people do that." Shikamaru said fanning the both of them off while hiding his smirk that made the duo laugh.

"What are you three talking about?" Sakura asked with a smile.

"Uh, nothing. Just an inside joke." Naruto replied genuinely.

"Really? Awe, you three have gotten closer since the last time. That's really great, I'm glad you're all getting along again."

"Weren't you all getting along?"

"Not everyone, but I guess it can't be helped some people just get along better with some more than others." She explained. "Like how you used to be close to Sasuke, but now it's Gaara and Shikamaru."

Naruto pursed his lips while Shikamaru and Gaara looked at each other before they all gave her a small smile. They were all aware that Sasuke wasn't the easiest person to get along with but he had a girlfriend who held him with high regards and as much as they've tried to convince her otherwise, it was all futile because in her eyes, he was a good guy.

But in their eyes, with the exception and to a lesser degree in Naruto's, he was everything but a good guy.

Just then Sasuke, Rock Lee, Choji, Neji and Temari walked in with the food. Cheers echoed outside as the aroma quickly circled the group and they delivered the meals to them, all the while Kiba glared at Sasuke who dared not to place a plate before him as to not rile up the brunette. When he noticed Naruto's gaze though he blew him a kiss which made the blonde smile seeing as his attention wasn't taken too much from him.

"Ouu! Right off the bat I can see that this fish will be amazing." Tamaki beamed as she began rubbing her hands together.

"Ha, I'll send your compliments to the chef." Neji replied.

"No need, your satisfied hunger is all the thanks I need." Choji humbly smiled as he placed down his dish with Kauri and sat next to her.

"Lee, Sasuke? I saved your seats." Sakura called as she scooted over, which confused the others as Lee willing walked over and opted to sit between her and Sasuke but nobody said anything.

"Hm, I'm not even high and I'm still seeing weird shit." Menma commented as he and Kankuro started chuckling.

Naruto recalled earlier when they had arrived. After Sakura had hugged him she mentioned that Sasuke and Rock Lee had grown closer as it was actually Lee that asked to travel with them for Tamaki and that just in general the two have been basically inseparable since football season ended which she liked as it was a change of scenery for her but that confused him.

Mainly, because the first time he met Lee, he practically ran away when Sasuke presented himself. So going from that to this just over some sports bonding seemed off to him.

"Thank you, Sakura." Sasuke replied as he sat down and Sakura began blushing at his words.

"Tsk, Sai can I have your drink, I think I'll need it more than you." Ino sighed as she rolled her eyes at her best friend being utterly smitten by Sasuke.

Naruto felt a bit jealous, seeing her behave like that because of him, he knew the feeling all too well and some part of him missed it. But he tried to shake those thoughts as they clouded his memories of the type of person Sasuke was.

"Your not going to be flirting with each other the entire time right? Cause I can go sit elsewhere." Shikamaru commented as he cringed at Sasuke and Sakura.

"If that's what you wish, be my guest." Sasuke replied and without a single hesitation Shikamaru left the table and went to go and sit next to Choji and Temari.

"So, Naruto? How has it been? I heard you're joining the lacrosse team after break." Rock Lee replied, trying to break up the tension.

"Um, yeah. Kiba said he talked to coach and is even giving me some hands on training."

"Really?" Sasuke replied. "I thought after the tryouts you'd call it quits. Never thought you were the sports type."

"Uh, neither did I." Naruto struggled to say as Gaara nudged him under the table to speak. "But I guess Kiba saw potential in me."

"Yeah, there's a lot in you, I'm sure." Sasuke replied in a low tone that oddly made Naruto aroused as he thought of it exactly how Sasuke wanted him too and he knew it.

"Yeah..." Naruto trailed as Kiba pursed his lips from over the table, fighting the urge to not create any drama on the first night.

"If you wanted you could've trained with me and Rock Lee too. He's a natural sportsman and knows exactly how to get the job done." Sasuke declared, placing a firm hand on Lee's shoulder while the latter smiled at the attention.

"Hm, stop. It's just because of my youth I know there are things I'm capable of accomplishing, nothing major or out of the ordinary." He stated before looking to Naruto with an expression he couldn't quite read. "I look forward to having you on our team Naruto and don't think I'll take it easy on you just because we're friends on the field."

"Ha, as if I'd back down from a challenge." Naruto scuffed in response earning a confident smile from Lee while Sasuke stared at him as if he was longing to see him.

He diverted his eyes to distract himself from his gaze and looked to Kiba to see that he was now having a good time as Tamaki took his attention again. She was practically latched to his arm and had no intention of letting go, it confused him. If Sasuke was such a bad guy then why isn't he sitting here beside Naruto to make sure he's okay, instead of being on the other side of the table with some girl.

Then he remembered that she wasn't just some girl, but a girl he used to love, or maybe still loves he thought.

The rest of the dinner occurred in small talk among Naruto's group while the others enjoyed their meals and the company of those around them. It was getting late, it was midnight to be specific and so some of them were actually getting tired and decided it was time to go to bed while the other set wanted to have a little more fun.

Specifically Tamaki who wanted to enjoy the vacation with them while she still can. She thought it would be a great idea to go by the docks and try out some of the attractions.

Naruto went inside and helped wash up with TenTen, Naruko and Sai. The majority decided to go to sleep so only a few went and to Naruto and Kiba's surprise they weren't on the same page.

"Is that what you're wearing?" Kiba asked as Naruto opened the door to their room and noticed he wasn't dressed up.

"What?" Naruto asked seeing Kiba in a different outfit.

"The docks, is that what you're wearing?"

"You were going?"

"You weren't?"

"No, I wasn't. I thought we were going to go to sleep together..."

"I thought we were going out together..."

"..."

"..."

"Tsk, sorry I should've asked instead of assumed."

"No, it's fine I guess you were just excited to go with Tamaki and the others so you forgot to ask."

"Yeah, but I wanted you two to hangout too. Get to know her a little bit, my ex and my babe."

"Ha, that's what excites you." Naruto chuckled to himself both because Kiba was goofy, but also the realization that he was jealous about him and Tamaki but still his boyfriend was excited by them meeting and hanging out together.

"You alone is more than enough excitement for me." Kiba smiled as he approached the blonde and placed a kiss on his forehead. "How are you by the way? How was dinner? I couldn't stand that asshole being so close to you but I didn't want to make a scene."

"Who? Sasuke?"

"Yeah, can't believe he'd show his face after all he did, but why else wouldn't he."

"..."

"I swear if it wasn't for you I would've hauled him out by his balls and slam them in his car door."

"Um..." Naruto hesitated as he knew if he said anything that sounded like he was defending Sasuke it would lead to Kiba arguing with him again and he wanted to avoid that.

"Tsk, sorry..." Kiba trailed as he thought of it as a sensitive topic for the blonde. "Look, if you don't want me to go then I won't have a problem, I'd rather be here with you in bed than out there and partying all night."

"But you like partying."

"Not when I have you as the other option."

"Hm, then I think you should go with the party while you still can."

"Is that so?" Kiba teased as he approached the blonde once more with a toothy grin. "Sounds like I won't be able to choose between you and anything at some point."

"You tell me, you're the one that can read body language."

"Hm, when it comes to you I don't think I want to read anymore, I definitely want to feel you rolling off my tongue." Kiba chuckled as he leaned in next to Naruto's ear causing him to playfully latch onto him as his body felt so hot against his.

"You say that like you haven't already felt-"

"Oh my Kaguya! I am trying to sleep and I have been ignoring you both for the longest now, can you please kiss and say goodbye until later." Shino stressed as he sat up in his bed and startled the couple, both of which definitely forgot that he was present in the room.

"Uh, of course dude! Ha, I guess I just got lost in the moment for a second, you know how it is?" Kiba tried.

"You forgot I was here, didn't you?"

"What?! No!" Kiba lied. "We didn't forget, right babe?"

"Um-"

"See? We totally saw you there, speaking of the word saw, I'll have to see myself out now." He continued as he grabbed Naruto's chin and placed a kiss on his lips before rushing over to Shino and kissing him on the forehead playfully before dashing through the door, once again leaving Naruto with him.

"You two were fully prepared to fuck while I was right here."

"What? No! Shino! What? That's not true." Naruto replied very similarly to Kiba. "You play way too much man, be serious now."

"..."

"We weren't, apart from it being a house rule, Kiba and I are actually being abstinent for a bit."

"WHAT?! You're kidding."

"No, actually we've just never gone that far."

"Really? Kankuro and I just started dating and we had sex last week." Shino said without a hint of a second thought in his mind.

"..." Naruto paused, thinking how weird it is to comment on his sex life with Kankuro.

"Ha, too much information, I know. But I seriously didn't expect Kiba to hold off from sex, and you two have been a thing for a while now too."

"Yeah, he's understanding like that."

"Hm, he really does love you then."

"Hm, what do you mean?"

"The way he talks about you, he practically never stops. It's all about you night and day, even now I guarantee he's missing you as we speak, he's a major lover at heart despite how his home life is, but since he's been with you he's seems more in love than just attracted to you."

"..."

"Like I always say, you're like the honey to his bees, ha." Shino joked, earning a genuine smile from Naruto whose heart clenched from hearing his words as he thought about someone else who he thought loved him too.

He wanted to ask but he felt like it wouldn't make sense as Shino was a closer friend to Kiba than Sasuke and he wanted an unbiased perspective, someone who didn't prefer either and considered each one a friend.

Just then a knock echoed from the door, catching the two off guard as they looked for a response.

"Must be Hinata." Naruto suggested as she had that tendency to knock.

"No, she would've said it was her." Shino replied. "Who is it?"

"Is it okay to enter?" The voice replied, soothing their nerves.

"Rock Lee? Why are you acting like a stranger, man." Shino chuckled as he walked over to the door and opened it to reveal the people on the other side and to their surprise, it was just Lee. "What do you-"

"Hope we aren't interrupting anything, but the other rooms are full and we think it's best if Tamaki sleeps with another girl in the room. So that means Rock Lee will be with all you guys." Sasuke explained as he smiled at Shino and then directed his gaze to Naruto.

"Goodnight Naruto." Sasuke smiled.

"Goodnight Sasuke."

"Whatever." Shino shrugged as he turned around and went back to his bed.

Rock Lee entered the room with his belongings that Sasuke helped with as Naruto backed up and gave them some room to enter.

"Where should he place them?" Sasuke asked directing his attention to Naruto as Shino had already turned his back to him.

"Over there." Naruto indicated to the available bed in the room.

Sasuke followed Rock Lee over to that side with his things and Naruto observed and noticed he really didn't need to help him as the bags looked fairly light for Lee to manage himself. But of course he wasn't going to say anything.

After that he simply wished them all a good night while smiling at Naruto as he watched him leave the room and complimented him.

"Goodnight now, nice shorts by the way Naruto, they really suit you."

"They're Kiba's shorts." Naruto lied but immediately shot back which only made Sasuke smile wider as he scoffed and exited the room.

Naruto released a deep breath that he didn't even realize he was holding. It was just such a challenge having Sasuke around now, after all he did to him and even to Kiba just so he could have Naruto to himself and yet he still hasn't given up.

He didn't know to feel, he didn't know if he should be impressed by his efforts or disgusted by his demeanor.

"One of you please lock that door so he doesn't come back in here. I thought he'd never leave." Shino sighed as he fanned his hand in the direction of the door earning a chuckle from Naruto and Lee.

Later that night after Naruto helped Lee settle in the room. He woke up to the sound of the door opening and through his sleepy eyes he thought it was Kiba, but after a moment he realized it was Rock Lee.

"Hm? Lee?" He mumbled.

"Y-Yeah?"

"Why are you up?"

"I was doing my late night jogging. I just got back and took shower before heading to bed." He replied as he stretched his limbs and smiled.

"Oh, is Kiba back yet?"

"Of course not. He'll be out until much later, the party never stops with him, when I was running by the music over the docks was really festive too so there's no doubt that they're all having a grand time."

"Oh..."

"Yeah, but you get some rest. He'll be back before you know it."

"Hm, alright." He smiled lightly.

Naruto turned while facing the wall and his smile softened as his mind wondered. Maybe it was just him overthinking or maybe he was just missing having him next to him while he slept, but there was just something that didn't feel right to him.
