A Force To Be Reckoned With

On her way to the hospital to visit a loved one, she recieved a call. Not a bad one either, she was told that Y/n was discharged, she had woken up yesterday. She was not informed of this beforehand.

This led her to turn around and head home, since Shindo was kind enough to call her. She still felt a bit dismayed, she should've known sooner.

At their house, Y/n felt so calm being home again. Though lonely at the same time, it felt as though she hasn't seen Uraraka in months. She laid on the couch, where she usually was when Uraraka returned. She was glad not much changed. She turned on her side and looked at her palms as they failed to embrace her quirk anymore, only allowing black sparks to escape. She was upset such a thing could happen.

She heard Shindo in the fridge, he hadn't talked the whole way here, no snarky remarks, he barely made eye contact too. It was weird, and she wished she could've asked him about his uncanny silence, but exhaustion was taking over her.

Truth was, Shindo was too scared to speak. He's been so deep in thought this whole time, he just completely disattached. He was making something for Y/n when he dropped a plate and it shattered on the floor. L/n jolted up at the sudden noise and looked at him, he stared at it for a few seconds, his eyes flickered to her, then he averted them and went to grab a broom. "Sorry..."

"Shin," her voice was just above a whisper. "I said sorry..." He muttered again as he swept up the shards of glass, Y/n furrowed her eyebrows at his tone. She then stood up, wrapped herself in her cover, and walked over when he was done sweeping.

She leaned on the couch and looked down at the floor. "You're not mad at me, are you?" And his wall finally came crashing down. "For being reckless? No, I'm used to it. I-I'm just pissed."

Ever since they reconnected right before graduation, Shindo seemed to change a lot. Though he's still rude to a lot outside of his friend group, he is still sincere. It's rare for him to be so closed off and detached. Y/n had changing alot as well. Though she didn't get the same character devolment as him, you can tell she's not as scared to take risk.

"Why?" Y/n was not ready for Shindo's overflow of emotions, it was like a once dormant volcano suddenly deciding to erupt, and she got caught in it.

"I don't know...I mean, I do but--well what do you want me to say?! I'm pissed at Uraraka alright?!" He leaned against the counter, on the opposite side of Y/n, staring down at the ground. "Maybe if she just woulld've done--god." Y/n disapproved when people negatively talked about her girlfriend, especially in front of her. She knew what Shindo was going to say.

"You're saying it's her fault...I got hurt?"

"YES! It IS!" It seemed he misread her tone. "You don't see it! You don't see how she never takes responsablity for her actions!" Y/n was befuddled, jaw dropped, absolutely appalled. That sounded nothing like Uraraka and it made her wonder if they were seeing the same person.

"I don't understand. Uraraka always takes responablity for her actions, even the small ones. She's not taking responabilty for this one because she and I both know that it wasn't her fault. What happened was on me and-"

Shindo suddenly moved forward and cupped her face with both of his hands, not in the normal romantic way, he basically slapped her. It still caught her off guard. She was all about personal space with people outside of Uraraka. Anyone else besides her, being this close to her, it felt all types of wrong.

"What are you doing Shindo-"

"See, I think she's got you brain washed or something. Is that pretty little brain of yours okay?" And he repeatedly tapped her head, Y/n narrowed her eyes and grabbed his hand. "Brain washed? Really? And who's brain is little? I'd hate to bring up that one training session with Ejiro."

Shindo rolled his eyes, his lips pulling into a slight smirk. Y/n flicked his forehead, she had enough of being so close, she could only take so much of his cologne. So expecting of him to let her go within the next few seconds.

"Okay get your hands off my face, I don't know where they've been—" oh but did he move closer, Y/n stopped mid-sentence, she narrowed her eyes as he returned a taunting look. "What?" In his taunting tone, and his taunting smirk.

"Seriously, back up." As she was already against the couch, ready to flip it over. Though his nothing but obvious feelings for her were tugging on him.

For Y/n, it was different for her. When she looked at him, she felt absolutely no romantic feelings for him. When he looked at her, he felt almost no platonic feelings for her. And her feelings for him didn't change a bit when he leaned in and embraced her in a kiss that burned her. In attempt to ignite even the smallest feeling.

But as he feared, his attempt failed. She pushed him and screamed, "God! Your doing it again!" She just snapped, she grabbed his hands and forced them off her, then moved away. "You did this at graduation and your doing it again! Okay—your hands are cold, don't touch me, don't kiss me—when you know I'm with Uraraka!" She walked towards the hallway that lead to her room.

"Y/n-"

She turned around, walking backwards slowly towards the hall. "No. I don't feel for you like that, Shindo. Keep those feelings buried, okay? I gave you a warning now I've had enough of this. Next time you try anything I'll fucking dropkick you. Get out, Shindo." She went into her room and slammed the door.

Shindo fucked up.

At that very moment Uraraka came in, she came baring gifts--or groceries, no wonder she's so late. It may have only been six but it was dark outside.

"Hey Shindo-" he rushed past her into the hallway, making her drop a bag. Not a word. Suddenly, she was feeling the tension that lingered. 'What's wrong with him?'

She picked up the bag and kicked the door shut. "Y/n," she called out. "I'm home! And I went to get some groceries, since your on bed rest, I'll be out a lot so I don't want you stressing about anything!"

She placed the bags on the marble counter, nothing but silence. "And uh, some lady at the store recognized me. She was actually the news reporter. She told me..."

Uraraka paused as she started to put the food up. "That even with your flames in the way, she was able to capture how you ran away. And somehow, the news leaked that you ended up in the hospital with your injuries. And well...I say everyone seems to think it's my fault you got hurt."

"And yeah, it is. I know it is. I think Hawks even knows it was my fault. I-I...I don't know why I didn't go after you. I feel really stupid and guilty for it. I'm--really sorry..."

She stayed silent for the rest of that time. She was silently crying, all the backlash from it all really hurt her. It was her fault, that was hard to take in. Especially when the doctors did everything in their power to help her, and nearly failed. All because Uraraka was so hesitant to follow.

"What kind of hero am I?..." She wiped a fallen tear.

And all while Y/n was listening, she was also sitting on the floor, her knees up to her face, wrapped in a weighted blanket. She was teary-eyed as well. They hadn't seen each other since that day, hadn't heard each other, Uraraka had no idea Y/n was losing her quirk. No idea what it was taking her phyisical features as it slipped slowly from her body.

Her h/c roots were noticably starting to take over her black and ash blonde hair. Her skin tone darkened, and she shivered. Which she rarely did.

Soon Y/n dropped the blanket, got up and walked to the bathroom. To see what's up with her body. But when she looked in the mirror, did she even see Y/n anymore?

"What happened?..." she whispered to herself as she dragged her fingers across her cheek, down her neck. The body she was staring at in the mirror was not her own. It didn't feel like it. Had she forgotten her natrual hair color before her quirk? Her natural eye color? The person she was before she devolped a stutter? The person who tore this little girl apart, was beginning to shatter at the thought of her coming back.

She felt sick to her stomach at this sight, on the verge of vomitting it felt like. Then, she lifted up her stomach, looked in the mirror then her face flashed with horror. She slapped her hands over her mouth, her sweater falling over the appalling sight.

'Y/n, what have you done?...'

My thoughts while writing the kiss scene: God, Do I really have to write this?
