The Truth

Third Person's POV

The limos stop at a small warehouse looking building. The girls exit the car then walk inside to see a warehouse that almost looked like a maze.

"This is actually kind of cool." Scarlett says as she sits on the chair that was placed near the door.

A large L shaped chair sat by the door with a small glass table in the middle of it. All the girls sit and wait for Tyler to show. After a short period of waiting and talking to each other, Tyler finally makes an appearance. He walks in holding a bottle of champagne. Sitting down between half the girls, he starts to pour some champagne in the glasses. Every girl holds a glass as he says his toast. Caelynn is the first to pull him away to Sadie's dismay.

"Ugh you've got to be kidding me."

Scarlett laughs, "Aw what's wrong? Scared you might go home? It's actually very likely with that heartfelt vow you gave. Even Gabrielle's I Do was better than that."

Gabrielle says hey making Scarlett grimace and look over at her.

"Sorry."

Finally, Caelynn comes back and Scarlett hurries in the direction that she just walked from. Caelynn sits beside Melody and smiles.

"Congrats on winning! That vow was amazing."

"Thanks. Being a wedding planner helped a little bit. I hear vows almost everyday. I just had to put some of my feelings in there."

"Well you have a great shot at making it to week three."

Melody nods with a frown. "I know but remember how I was talking about kids and family in my vow."

Caelynn nods with a knowing look on her face, "You gonna tell him tonight?"

Melody grimaces and looks at her drink before downing the whole glass.

"Yeah I just hope he won't be upset or change his mind about me."

Melody sits twisting her hands together trying to get over her nerves. See watches each girl disappear and reappear with a smile. She tries to think positive but all she can imagine is Tyler looking at her negatively.

"Hey Mel you wanna talk now?"

She looks up and sees Tyler standing in front of her. It had been almost all night, and Tyler and Melody finally got to talk to each other for thirty whole minutes, uninterrupted. He pulls her arm leading her to a couch away from the rest of the girls.

As they sit down together, Tyler throws his arm over Mel's shoulder. He pulls her closer and she cuddles into his side. She slips off her heels and pulls her legs in the chair on the side of her. Tyler chuckles at her sweet childish antics and looks at her with twinkling eyes.

"So did you have fun today?"

"I did. I had a ton of fun. It was so different then really anything I've done before. Thank you for allowing me the opportunity of the group date."

"Thank you for agreeing to go and actually participating."

"Of course!"

Tyler grabs her hand and holds it in between his two big ones. Melody smiles and looks down at her hidden small hand. His hands were so big and warm and so calming.

"So Mel tell me a little bit about yourself."

Melody's heart skips a beat and she frowns slightly then quickly smiles again. Tyler notices the small change but doesn't say anything.

"I don't want to lie to you... I actually have something really important to tell you."

Tyler nods and sits up a little straighter, "I'm all ears."

"I have a child."

Tyler's expression doesn't change as he looks at Melody so she figures he is taking the news well.

"I was in a six year relationship and we never got married. I got pregnant and had my daughter. Her name is Nova. She's the sweetest yet sassiest little three year old you'll ever meet."

Tyler smiles and nods slowly, "Is the father involved? You said you were in a six year relationship... what happened?"

"Liam, my ex... he was in the military. He was on tour when I was six months pregnant. And he died... he knew I was pregnant but he never got to meet Nova. I went through postpartum and got depressed when I had Nova. My parents had to watch her until I got better. It took a few months but I finally snapped out of it and got myself together for Nova. I started my wedding planning business and got a house. I raised her all by myself."

A tear slides down her cheek. Tyler lifts his hand and gracefully wipes it away then caresses her cheek.

"I'm so sorry. You don't have to go on. Thank you for telling me. I'm so sorry you had to go through that. To lose someone so important to you is tough. But it takes a strong person to get back on their feet and face life. You are absolutely incredible. You raised Nova and I'm sure she's a beautiful and incredibly smart three year old. I'm also sure she's going to be an even better young lady... just like her mama."

Melody nods with a small smile then kisses Tyler's cheek.

"I was so scared you would think the worst of me."

Tyler frowns, "Why would you say that?"

"Because I had a child out of marriage. I know how a lot of people think it's so horrible but I thought that Liam was my person. He was taken away from me and everyone started to judge me because I was a single mother."

"I do not think the worst of you Melly. If anything I think the world of you... Hold on."

Melody doesn't even have time to say anything before Tyler gets up and walks away. She frowns slightly wondering where he went then a wide grin covers her face as he walks back holding the group date rose. He sits on the table in front of her with his legs spread open and her legs in between his.

"Melody, you were so open and trusting today. I love that you had a great time even though I know it wasn't the most likable group date. I'm very grateful that you shared some of your background with me even if it was hard or scary. It takes a lot of courage and guts to talk about your past and I thank you for that. So with that being said... Melody will you take this rose?"

"Of course I will."

She plucks the rose from his hand lightly then puts it on the chair beside her. She grabs both of his cheeks in her hands then kisses his firmly on the lips. Tyler surprised a little, tenses up then gets into the kiss. Their lips move in sync as he pulls her close to his body. A slight spark is felt as their lips connect. Tingles run down Melody's spine making her shiver in delight. After another minute, Tyler pulls away and pecks her lips once more.

Tyler strokes Melody's legs as he remains sitting on the table in front of her. She looks up at him and smiles sheepishly.

"We still have fifteen minutes. Well now you have to tell me something about your past. This is a two way street remember?"

Melody holds up her hand between the two, and makes a hand sign using her thumb to point at herself and her pinkie to point at Tyler.

Tyler chuckles and does the same, "Two way street... me and you Melly."

Melody grins and grabs his hand, holding it tightly, "You better not use that with anyone else. That's our thing now."

"I promise I will not Melly. So when I was on the bachelorette I got to hometowns and finally got to see my dad. I left home to be on the show and when I left my dad was really sick but I left trying to find love. I wanted to be able to have a wife and walk down the aisle if pops ever you know. I wanted him to be able to see that and to meet her. So on hometowns I saw him and he was fine and it was like a breath of fresh air. I had been so worried the whole time and at one point was thinking about leaving. Obviously I'm very serious about finding love and finding my wife. I thought Hannah was it but it wasn't as mutual as I thought so I got myself together and here I am. Ready for my own chance."

"I'm sorry about your dad being sick. I'm glad he's okay now. That's so scary. I totally understand. Not being there and not being able to do anything about it. It makes you feel worthless. You want to be able to have the power to change the world but life doesn't work that way. But it does make you into a better stronger person."

Tyler doesn't say anything but instead leans forward and kisses Melody's forehead. He leaves his lips there for a moment then pulls away and stares deeply into her eyes.

"You surprise me every time I talk to you. When you're not around I get excited to even see you."

Melody smiles then thinks back to something said earlier, "Tyler why was I on the group date? Not that I'm complaining." She holds up the rose and laughs, "Obviously not... but all the girls on the date today didn't have a date last week and I did."

Tyler smiles and looks around seeing the cameraman gone then tucks a stand of hair behind Mel's ear, "Well Melly I just had to see you. Sometimes I don't get to come up with the date cards. But this one group date I was allowed to and I knew that I had to put you on it. I really like spending time with you even if it has to be split with other girls. I'm not going to lie to you and say that I don't have connections with a few other girls because I do. But with you it just feels so much more real."

"I feel the same way..."

He opens his mouth to say something else but then sees the cameraman come back and wave a hand signaling the end of the cocktail hour.

"As much as I wish we could stay here... It's time to go Mel."

Melody nods and lets him help her up. She holds the rose in her hand with a wide smile and follows him back to the group hand in hand. His thumb rubs her hand as they get closer then he lightly lets go and winks at her.

"Alright ladies it's time to go back home. Thank you so much for spending the day with me and I will see you all at the rose ceremony."
