Melody's POV

Brynn, Scarlett, and I are sitting at the dining room table eating breakfast when there's a knock on the door. The two look down at their food then look at me and I shake my head with a smile.

"I'll get it."

Hurrying to the door, I open it to reveal a date card on the welcome mat. It was Thursday so that meant that this was probably the one on one date card. Walking back inside I go to the stairs and yell up, "Date card!"

A whole stampede of girls run down the stairs and cameramen come in through the front door. As every one sits and gets comfortable, I stand front and center.

I was actually really excited. I finally get to read a date card. This excites me to the core. But I was also nervous. It is week three and you never know what the producers will do. Like Tyler said a lot of the time he doesn't get the chance to choose girls for date cards not until it gets more intense with less girls.

"Alright girls we got a date card."

"Woo I'm so excited! Open it up Mel!"

I smile at Caelynn then tear open the envelope. Looking at all the names I know it's a surprise group date. On Thursday though? That's kind of late.

"Camila... me... Brynn... Kennedy... Sadie... Grace. Let's test our chemistry."

I look up at all the confused faces. I know guys I was in shock too.

"Another group date? So late in the week?"

"Wow..."

Laura makes her presence known quickly after the cameras turn off, "Alright girls who have a group date I need you all to wear black shorts and a white tank top try to make it athletic clothes also. You have five minutes starting... now!"

Me and Brynn run to our room and put on athletic shorts and the white shirt like Laura said. My shirt is a white nike crop top tank and my shorts are spandex Nike pro shorts with a cool twisted waistband.

Together we make our way to the staircase and finally after a little bit of a wait, Laura let's us go. We all get into a black SUV and it takes us to a small building with a science logo on the front. We make our way inside and see Tyler standing by this older man with brown hair.

Tyler smiles as he sees us, "Welcome to the love lab."

"We're going to measure you in a series of experiments. Then give you a numerical score from one to ten. We're going to find out if the odors you give off are attractive to Tyler."

Tyler sniffs as a joke and laughs making most of us laugh at the insanity of this group date. Brynn nudges me and we look at Grace and Sadie who have looks of disgust on their faces. We laugh silently then turn our attention back to Tyler and the scientist.

"We're going to take a quick break and explain to Tyler what's going to happen."

The cameras turn off and Laura comes in the room and takes us each to separate rooms. I stand by the glass window and look out bored, wondering why we were all in different rooms.

Suddenly, the door opens and in comes Laura with cameraman, Manny, in tow. They stand by me and Manny sets up his camera to I guess interview me. Laura makes sure I look fine then she moves out the view of the camera. The red light comes on and Laura looks at me.

"What do you think about the date so far?"

"I'm very intrigued actually. I mean I guess I kind of understand how scent is important to attraction but I've never taken it so serious. I'm confused as to like what he's going to do... he's just going to like smell our body?"

Laura laughs, "We shall see."

They leave and after another few minutes they come back and get me from the room. I catch up with all the girls and together we walk back to the "love lab."

"So smell is the most primitive sense. It tells us about attraction.."

Tyler is led to Brynn by the scientist since he is wearing a blindfold. He leans down and smells Brynn's neck. Brynn tried her hardest not to make a sound.

"Sweet..."

"Bend down to her waist." The scientist has Tyler hold onto Brynn's shoulders lightly and he bends down to her waist and sniffs again.

Brynn looks up at me and makes a face which makes me laugh to myself.

"So there are glands right near your inductive organs that were going to try and smell."

"Very flowery."

Brynn nods as the scientist writes something down. Tyler leans onto Sadie and bends to her waist.

"Almost uh... beachy."

The scientist nods writing again, "Alright girl number three..."

Tyler moves to Kennedy and smells her neck then her waist, "Very very sweet."

The scientist chuckles, "Oh boy this is pheromones."

Tyler moves to Grace and she also has a beach smell. As Tyler moves down to me try my best not to laugh. This is all so weird but kinda funny at the same time.

He grabs my shoulders lightly and smells my neck then bends down to my waist and sniffs.

"A fruit aroma."

I look down at Tyler to see slight interest on his face as he smells again. I giggle to myself hoping he doesn't hear.

"Isn't that interesting?" The scientist replies.

"Yeah almost like uh a citrus smell."

"Wow that's different."

"Yeah." Tyler nods as he moves down to Camila.

He bends down to her waist and sniffs then sniffs again.

"That's a little more sour."

Camila makes a pfft sound as we all laugh quietly.

"Sweet and sour, but that's great in Chinese food." The scientist jokes making us all chuckle.

Camila laughs trying to deal with the insanity of the group date activity, "Chinese food..."

Tyler takes off his blindfold and stands by the scientist.

"So now we are going to put you guys in order and Tyler will know who was which smell."

The scientist moves me to the far right then next is Brynn, then Kennedy, Grace, Brynn, and Camila.

"Okay Girl 1 was rated 9 with a flowery smell, raise your hand girl number 1."

Brynn smiles and raises her hand. Tyler smiles and nods.

"Girl number two was a beachy smell and she was rated a 4."

Sadie raises her hand.

"Girl number 3 was very sweet smelling and rated a 7."

Kennedy smiles wide and throws up her hand making Tyler chuckle.

"Girl number 4 was also beachy and but rated a 5."

Grace holds up her hand with a smirk glancing at Sadie.

"Girl 5 was the citrus smell and she was rated a 10."

My hand goes straight up in air with a huge grin on my face. Tyler smiles and winks at me making me lightly blush.

"Lastly Girl number 6 was rated a 2."

Camila rolls her eyes and raises her hand.

"Now we're going to take a second to hook Tyler up to our equipment then we'll start the second activity."

Later we come back to the same rooms that we were in before. And again we have a mini interview.

"How do you feel about what Tyler said about your scent?"

"My heart wants Tyler very bad and apparently my smell does too. I think it was a very good thing. He liked my scent even though he didn't know it was me."

"How do you think you smell?"

"I don't know to be honest. I think I smell fine. But it's kind of like when you put on perfume and two minutes later you can't even smell yourself anymore. That's how I felt during this. I can't smell citrus on myself but he can. At least I don't stink."

After our second mini interview, we are brought back to the room once again. Tyler is now hooked up to a ton of equipment and he sits in front of an empty chair.

The scientist steps beside the empty chair with a smile, "Ladies... now we are going to take a lie detector test. We hooked Tyler up and one by one we will hook you up and you will answer some questions Tyler has for you, then you will be given the chance to ask him something. The equipment tells us instantly if someone is lying or telling the truth so this is very important to test your honesty with Tyler."

"Up first is Grace."

Grace goes up and gets hooked up to the machines. She sits across from Tyler; they sit almost knee to knee. She stares at him nervously but he just smiles trying to reassure her.

"Tyler my question for you is... Do you think you're a good dancer?" Grace laughs lightly as Tyler scoffs.

"I'm an amazing dancer." Tyler laughs as the man holds up his thumb letting everyone know that Tyler was indeed telling the truth.

"Okay now my questions for you. Have you ever lied to your boss to get an extra day off?" Tyler asks. 

Oh she better be careful this is going on national television. Her boss will see this.

"Yes."

Tyler looks over at the polygraph person who holds up a thumb saying she was telling the truth.

"Have you ever blabbed about something you promised you would keep a secret?"

Grace hesitates then says, "Yes."

The polygraph person holds a thumb up. Tyler frowns a little then shakes his head and moves into another question.

Well I guess it was better for her to tell the truth rather than be caught in a lie.

"Do you exaggerate when you tell stories to make them sound more interesting?"

Without hesitation she answers with a scoff, "No."

The person holds a thumbs down. She lied. And she lies about interesting stories.

I knew her helicopter ride with Chris Evans over the Grand Canyon sounded a little far fetched.

"Are you here for love?"

"Yes."

For the first time, the polygraph person holds up his thumb sideways. I guess she doesn't even know the answer. Tyler frowns and the scientist unhooks her.

Next is Brynn.

"Tyler... would you jump a fence for a girl here?"

Tyler takes a moment and thinks, "Yeah I would."

Thumbs up.

"Brynn... Would you rather give the hurtful truth or tell a little white lie?"

Brynn nods and answers almost immediately, "Tell the hurtful truth, I never lie."

She glances over at Grace with a smirk as Tyler looks at the polygraph person who holds a thumb up.

"Do you gossip with your friends?"

She grimaces making me laugh. She turns around and shooshes me making Tyler smile.

"Yesssss..."

Thumbs up.

"What would you do if you found out your best friend was getting cheated on?"

Brynn chuckles, "Well since cutting off his favorite body part is illegal and I would go to jail... I would probably egg his car."

Thumbs up.

Tyler laughs, "You are scary."

"Is there anyone you care about more than yourself"

Brynn sighs and glances at me in the mirror behind Tyler, "If you asked me this question a year ago I would say no. But now after meeting so many great friends like Mel... yes."

Thumbs up.

"Do you have feelings for me?"

"I do."

Thumbs up.

"Aw love you too bestie." I say as she walks over to me.

The next person to be hooked up is Camila.

"Do you still have feelings for Hannah?"

Tyler frowns a little then smiles, "I don't. I love her as a friend but that's it."

Thumbs up.

"Camila... Have you ever cheated in a previous relationship?"

"No."

Thumbs down.

Wow she lied and cheated. I don't know about half the girls motives for being here. Some of them seem kind of sketch.

"Have you ever said, 'I love you' even though you did not mean it?"

"No."

Thumbs down.

Tyler now looks really upset. Two times she has lied now. If she doesn't tell the truth on these last questions then it might be over for her. Even though it should be over for her with those other answers.

"Do you think it's possible for men and women to be just friends?"

"No..."

Thumbs up.

Well that's a bummer. Girls and guys can't be friends? They can if they have their heads screwed on the right way. And are not lustful and don't have boundaries.

"Are you happy to be on a date with me?"

"I'd rather it be a one on one date."

Thumbs up.

Camila is unhooked and now it's Sadie's turn.

Not gonna lie I'm real excited to hear her questions.

"Have you kissed more than five girls already?"

"No."

Thumbs up.

"Sadie... Would you rather be rich and lonely or financially destitute with lots of great family and friends?"

"Struggle with family and friends."

Sadie smiles but I know it's fake just like her answer. Thumbs down.

Tyler's frown gets deeper, "So rich and lonely?"

Sadie shrugs sheepishly.

"Have you ever gotten revenge on someone?"

"No."

Liar you just did on Piper because she stood up to you.

Thumbs down.

"Are you okay with taking responsibility for your mistakes or do you always find someone else to blame?"

"I'm fine with taking responsibility."

Thumbs down.

"Are you one hundred perrcent invested in being here?"

"Yes."

Thumbs down.

Ohhhh tough break Sadie... see you never.

Next is Kennedy.

"Do you really think your wife is here?"

Tyler smiles and nods, "I do I believe it one hundred percent."

Thumbs up.

"Kennedy... Do you believe in second chances?"

"No."

Thumbs up.

"Are there any secrets you are keeping from your parents right now?"

"Yes."

Thumbs up.

"What is it or what are they?"

"Being here."

Tyler looks kind of surprised just as we all do. We all see Kennedy as this really sweet quiet girl but she's so different than that.

Thumbs up.

"Do you like me?"

"Yes."

Thumb sideways. The room is silent. Just like Grace, Kennedy isn't quite sure if her feelings.

I would rather have people who aren't sure or don't really like Tyler to be gone now but I'm not the bachelor or bachelorette.

It's finally my turn. I think hard about all the questions I could ask him.

"Tyler... what do you value most about our connection or relationship?"

Tyler thinks for a moment before staring deep into my eyes, "I value your strength and our communication. Even if we have a conversation that is hard to talk about you are able to just trust in me and talk to me. Communication is a major key in a relationship so I value that between us the most."

I smile lightly. That's a good answer.

"Mel... Could you date someone who has a history of lying to you?"

"No, never."

Thumbs up. I smile feeling a little less nervous.

"How often do you lie to your friends to get out of hanging out with them?"

"Never. I'm there for them whenever they need me to be."

I look over at the polygraph person who holds a thumb up. I smile and look at Tyler who seems to be pleased with my answers so far.

Just two more to go.

"What is the scariest thing you have ever done in your life?"

I take a second then look at every figure in the mirror. Well they'll know at some point.

"Honestly... raise a child."

Tyler smiles widely as there is a thumb up in the air. The girls look in confusion and question. Except Brynn who shares a look that I can't decipher.

Suddenly, Tyler looks at me with his intense eyes and I know the last question is gonna be something crazy.

"Are you falling in love with me?"

My heart stops as I stare at him. He smiles lightly and nods his head as of saying go ahead.

"Oh gosh..." I murmur and laugh nervously to myself.

I know what my answer is but will he like it is the answer.

"Um I- uh..."

Another second passes and I shake my head with a smile and look into his intriguing eyes, "I am, yes."

I feel my cheeks blush red as the polygraph person holds a thumbs up and Tyler looks at me with a twinkle in his eye.
