Elizabeth frowned as she watched the news reporter hold up a poster of Oswald, the black and white image reminding her of the history lessons from all those years ago.

It had been a few hours since the shooting of JFK, and the family had finally been able to regroup at Elliott's, where they now surrounded the TVs in the middle of the ground floor, watching the news.

"Vanya Hargreeves" โ€”he lifted up a printed mugshot of Vanyaโ€” "wanted in connection with the deaths of several FBI agents inside the federal building at Dealey Plaza. A Cuban exile known only as Diegoโ€”"

"Cuban?" Diego repeated with a small scoff as they lifted the mugshot, and Elizabeth momentarily reminisced on his short hair.

"โ€”who recently escaped from the Holbrook Sanitarium. A bare-knuckle boxer" โ€”a picture of Luther with Jack Ruby (and a wiener dog)โ€” "with suspected Mafia ties who fights under the alias 'King Kong.' Allison Chestnut" โ€”a photo of Allison protestingโ€” "a Negro radical responsible for instigating and organizing the recent riots at Stadtler's lunch counter. And, finally, Klaus" โ€”a strange, Jesus-esque portrait of Klausโ€” "the controversial cult leader and known tax evader. The FBI is asking the public to be on the lookout for this unidentified boy and girl" โ€”a photo of Five and Elizabeth at the picket fenceโ€” "who they believe is being held hostage by the suspected terrorist network."

"Well, it's true," Five spoke up, his arms folded as he leaned against the railing. To answer the questioning looks the others gave him, he continued, "I do feel like I'm being held hostage most days."

"God, I hate that photo," grumbled Diego, who was still staring at the TV.

"They're saying I instigated the riot?" Allison, who was standing on the stairs, asked incredulously as she clasped her hands. She scoffed, "That's unbelievable."

"Look, the good news is that we restored the timeline and we stopped doomsday," Elizabeth said with a small shrug. "Soโ€”"

"Yeah, a bunch of real goddamn heroes; we let Kennedy die," Diego cut in.

"Yeah, and now we're officially the most wanted people in the world," Allison pointed out as Klaus began to come down the stairs behind her. "The FBI is after us, the Dallas police, the Secret Service. It's only a matter of time before they hunt us down here."

"Well, where are we supposed to go?" questioned Vanya.

"I have this yurt just outside Reykjavik," Klaus offered as he came onto the landing. "We could totally lay low there. Folks there are a little weird, but lovely, welcomingโ€”"

"Hey, numbnuts," Five called irritatedly. "Hiding's not gonna make a difference here. The Commission will hunt us down wherever and whenever we go."

"He's right," agreed Diego. "They'll never stop."

Five's gaze turned to Diego, his eyebrows furrowing as he questioned, "I'm sorry, since when are you an expert on the Commission?"

"Since I got back from there," Diego answered.

"What?" Elizabeth questioned, her eyes squinting. "When'd you go there?"

"Yeah, they headhunted me, offered me a job," Diego explained with a small shrug, "full time with benefits, which I had to turn down."

Five still seemed a little disbelieving as he tilted his head and clarified, "They headhunted you . . . the village idiot."

"What," Diego scoffed as he turned towards him, "am I not allowed to be headhunted? Only the almighty Five needs to be in demand?"

Elizabeth rolled her eyes as she leaned over and slapped Diego's arm, only receiving a scowl in return.

"Diego, you're not Commission material, all right?" Five told him, an amused smile now on his face. "Got an obstinate nature to ya."

"Who do you think it was that figured out Vanya was the one that causes doomsday and stopped it?" Diego queried. "Me."

"Hey!" Klaus interjected, his hand on his hip.

"That's who," Diego continued as Five stepped towards him, ignoring Klaus. "I figured it all out on the Infinite Switchboard."

"You were on the Infinite Switchboard?" Five asked incredulously.

"Hell, yeah," Diego answered with a small smirk. "I made that machine my bitch. Y'all need to recognize I got shit going on y'all don't even know about."

"Oh, I'm sorry!" Allison exclaimed mockingly. "You've got things going on?"

"This isn't helpful," Elizabeth sighed as she leaned against the railing and rubbed her eyes.

"Look," Diego continued as Vanya began to head up the stairs, "I met the Rรฉsistance in their secret lair. All right? I went through orientation and I passed and I stopped doomsday. At least I wasn't busy playing with myselfโ€”"

"Can you dispense with the dick-measuring for five minutes?" pleaded Allison.

"Unless you can literally," Klaus interrupted with a raised finger, "'cause Ben and Iโ€”"

"We don't have time for this!" Luther interjected with a sigh as he folded his arms. "the Feds could be here any minute."

"That's what I've been saying!" Elizabeth exclaimed as she turned to face him.

"I'm agreeing!" he protested.

"Okay," Five sighed, "calm down, Hairyโ€”"

"Hey, it's King Kong," Luther corrected angrily. "And I'm sick of your ass, okay?"

"Yeah, okay, you win," Diego cut in, rolling his eyes as he lifted a hand in his direction.

"Guys, we need to move, okay?" Luther shouted. "That is more important here. That is our only option."

"No, we need to box those windows and stay here," Diego corrected.

"I'm leaving."

Their eyes turned to Vanya, who had come back down the stairs and watched them nervously.

"What?" Elizabeth questioned, her eyebrows furrowing. "To go where?"

"Sissy's farm," Vanya answered. "Something's wrong with Harlan, and I need to help him."

"Vanya, we need to stick together, okay?" Luther demanded as he took a step towards him. "Now more than ever."

"That's why I'm telling you this," she said slowly as she walked to them. "Whatever's going on with Harlan, I think I might've caused it."

"How?" Luther questioned softly.

Vanya sighed before informing them, "He drowned, and, uh, somehow I was able to bring him back to life. And now it's like we're connected."

"Wh-what does that even mean?" Luther asked as he glanced around the others before returning his gaze to Vanya.

"I don't know." Vanya shook her head. "I can't explain, but . . . I know that he needs my help." She sighed before looking around at them with a pleading gaze. "I need your help too. I'm scared. And for the first time in my life, I don't wanna do it alone. I want my family by my side."

Diego, his arms folded, took a step towards Vanya and muttered, "Look, I'm sorry. We have other priorities right now."

"Diego's right," Five added on, a little reluctantly, "for once. We need to make our stand here and now."

"Okay," Vanya replied softly. "I guess I'll see you when I see you."

And with that, she turned around and left.

Klaus squinted his eyes for a moment before getting up and stretching. "Yeah, I'll go with her," he said lightly before following in Vanya's footsteps.

Elizabeth gazed at the spot that Vanya had been standing in for a moment before sighing and telling the group, "I'm going too."

Five immediately grabbed onto her arm and pulled her towards him as he shook his head. "Elle, you can'tโ€”"

She shook his hand off of her arm as she muttered, "I'm going."

Elizabeth headed up the stairs and to the door in the kitchen, and then followed down the steps and stepped out the building to see that Klaus had already taken the front passenger seat of Vanya's car.

Elizabeth gave them a short grin as she slid into the back seat. "Hey, y'all."

"Ellie." Vanya smiled. "You don't need toโ€”"

"Of course I need to," Elizabeth reassured her as she leaned over and patted her shoulder. "Have to help when one of my best friends is in need."

Suddenly, the door opened again, and the car doors on either side of Elizabeth opened as Diego and Allison appeared.

"Room for two more?" Allison grinned as they took their seats.

Vanya's eyes flickered between the two of them as she asked, "What about the Commission?"

"Well, might as well do some good before we die horribly," Diego answered with a small shrug.

"Whoo-hoo!" Klaus cheered.

The front passenger door suddenly opened, with Five peeking in, causing Klaus to give a small gasp of surprise.

"Five," Vanya said tentatively as she gripped the steering wheel, "youโ€”you don't have toโ€”"

"I know," he interjected, the corners of his lips tugging upwards. "You owe me one, sis." He then turned his gaze to Klaus, and raised his eyebrows as he told him, "Children ride in the back."

"Okay," Klaus conceded easily as he turned around and climbed over the seat before sprawling himself over the laps of the three behind.

"Oh, Christ," Allison groaned.

A smile broke out onto Vanya's face as she turned back to them and gave a modest shrug. "Guys, I don't know what to say."

Before any of them could respond, their attention turned to the trunk as it was opened.ย

Luther crawled inside, causing the back of the car to collapse on the back wheels, letting out a loud crunching noise that made them all cringe.

Luther stayed on all fours to fit inside, and he quickly closed the trunk. He turned back to them and warned, "Anyone makes a fat joke, and I'm outta here."
