Her first breath in through her nose delivered the comforting scent of the boy whose arms were wrapped around her body that only bore undergarments, and she was quick to breathe it in once more.

Five's face was only inches away from hers, and he slept peacefully, slightly scrunching his nose every once in a while.ย

His sleep was ended only a few minutes later, however, when his eyes opened and he gazed down at her, a smile immediately drawing onto his face.

"Good morning, beautiful," he spoke softly, his voice still a little hoarse from the sleep.

"Good morning." She smiled as she planted a kiss on the tip of his nose, giggling as he pulled her closer to him. "Guess it's all over now, huh?"

"Sure, that's over." A small smirk made its way to his lips, and he seemed fully awake now as he inched his face closer to hers. "But we can start a whole new thing."

His lips met hers as he leaned forward, the familiar feeling of warmth spreading through her as his lips moved against hers.

His hands tightly grasped onto the sides of her arms as he slowly pushed himself up and hovered over her, his head tilting as he deepened the kiss. He then trailed his left hand down her body, causing her to shiver from the touch before he brought the hand back up and began to teasingly fiddle with the strap of her bra.

Elizabeth then gently pushed him off of her, causing him to groan in complaint as he landed beside her on his back.

"No, no, we need to get up," she giggled. "It's already" โ€”her eyes widened as she looked over to the clock, and she let out a small gaspโ€” "holy shit, it's already eleven? How did we sleep in so much?"

"I mean, we did stay up pretty late," Five murmured with a playful grin as he turned onto his side and placed a hand on her outer thigh, squeezing it slightly.

He gazed at her for a few moments, and his eyes then traced down to her lips, hunger glinting in them. Unable to resist the urge any longer, he kissed her, his hand moving to her lower back as he pulled her body closer to his, pressing them tightly together.ย

It wasn't long until he lightly pushed her onto her back and leaned over her once more, his eyes meeting hers and silently telling her to let him take control.

Elizabeth ran her hands through his hair before resting her hands on the nape of his neck. She let out a small sigh of pleasure as his lips left hers to begin leaving kisses along her jawline and gave a sharp intake of breath as the kisses were continuing to be planted down her body.

Five looked up at her, the hint of a smirk on his face as his kisses reached her stomach. His hands trailed down her waist to her hips before he teasingly toyed with the top of her underwear.

Before he could continue any further, Elizabeth sat up, causing him to groan once more.

"All right, Romeo, let's go," she laughed as she slipped off of the bed, nodding towards the door to tell him that they had to leave. "The world needs saving."

Just as she picked up her uniform, Five came up from behind, enveloping his arms around her waist. He pressed his body tight against hers as he kissed her neck, murmuring into her ear, "I'm sure the world can wait ten more minutes."

"Unfortunately" โ€”she turned around, wrapping her arms around his neck and kissing him lightlyโ€” "it cannot."

She then pushed him away and quickly dressed in her uniform, and he, quite grumpily, did the same.

Right before they could leave the room, Five tucked a strand of hair behind her ear and lifted her chin up as he murmured, "Just remember, we started a new thing. And, trust me, it isn't over yet."

"And again," she whispered as she pecked his cheek and grinned, "it isn't going to end for some time, because we have to go."

She laughed as he gave a small groan, and she quickly pulled the door open, seeing that Diego and Luther were talking quietly at the table in the kitchen over mugs of steaming coffee.

Their heads turned to the two as they walked in, and Luther nodded. "Hey, Elizabeth, Elliott left you a note on the fridge. And he said we weren't allowed to lookโ€”don't worry, I made sure Diego didn't look," he added as he noticed Elizabeth narrow her eyes at Diego, whose nose was scrunched and eyebrows were furrowed.

"Don't know why he didn't just tell us the message to tell you," Diego muttered before taking a sip of his coffee, his eyes roaming over the table.

"Because it's our thing." Elizabeth shrugged as she plucked the blue sticky note off of the fridge, then leaning on the kitchen counter next to Five, who was pouring himself a cup of coffee as he glanced over at her. "We've been doing it for eight months, after all."

"Yeah, but what about our thing?" Diego questioned as he put down his coffee before folding his arms and leaning back in his seat.

She scrunched her nose, keeping the note close to her chest to keep the peering Five from reading it as she inquired, "What thing?"

"You know . . ." Diego squinted his eyes, waving his hands through the air. "The thing."

She shook her head, a frown settling upon her lips. "I have no idea what you're talking about."

"Yeah, why do you have a thing with some random guy?" Five questioned in an accusatory fashion, turning towards her as he took a sip of his coffee. "What about me?"

"We do have things!" she said earnestly, using her fingers as she listed them off, "The knocking, the scaring me every goddamn night, the balconyโ€”"

"What knocking and balcony?" Luther furrowed his eyebrows to which Elizabeth waved a dismissive hand.

"Nothing."

"Who cares about Five?" Diego scoffed, edging forward in his seat. "I'm more important. I'm the most important man in your life."

Five rolled his eyes as he looked towards the man. "I'm her boyfriend!"

"Uh," Diego said with a finger raised, "I said man, not boy."

"I'm older than you!"

"You sure don't look like it," Diego replied with raised eyebrows, a humoured smile on his face as he leaned back. He looked over to Elizabeth, whose eyes were now turned to the writing on the sticky note in her hand. "Listen, Goldie, doโ€”"

"Shut up," she sighed, "I'm trying to read."

"What does it say?" Luther asked curiously, leaning forward in his seat as his eyes fixated on the thin edge of the note.

"Says that you guys are stupid."

Diego stopped his glaring match with Five as his attention snapped over to her, his eyebrows knitting tightly together. "Seriously?"

"No, dumbass." She rolled her eyes and gave the note one last read-over, smiling at the smiley face that Elliott had included next to his name before crumpling up the note and throwing it into the trash. "He said that he's gonna visit a friend and go for groceries afterward. He'll be back after seven-thirty."

"He has friends?" Luther asked in surprise, furrowing his eyebrows.

"Mhm, two. Jeffrey and Thomas. They're both kinda weird though." She shuddered at the thought of them, her nose wrinkling as an array of memories came up in her mind. "Jeffrey stole my shampoo because he said I smelled good, which was creepy. And Thomas tried to sell me drugs once, but I said no."

Diego didn't seem to be listening to what she was talking about as he sighed and cut in, "Goldie, what's our thing?"

Elizabeth groaned, shaking her head. "Are you seriously still talking about that?"

"Yes!" he insisted, folding his arms.

"Uh . . ." She thought for a moment, tapping her foot against the ground as she leaned back against the counter and folded her arms. "What about that promise? Does that work for you? That's a thing, right?"

Five turned towards her, his eyebrows furrowed and his eyes narrowed. "What promise? The one from before?"

She gave him a smile, reaching over and kissing his cheek as she murmured, "Don't worry about it."

Diego gave a small scoff, his head immediately shaking as he muttered, "It's barely a promise."

"How come? You said the words 'I swear,'" she pointed out with raised eyebrows. "That means it's a promise."

"It's not a promise if I break it."

"Oh, God, Diego, how many times do I have to tell you?" Elizabeth groaned, raking a hand through her hair as his eyes lowered to the ground in shame. "You didn't!"

"I did the exact opposite!"

"It wasn't your fault!"

"I'm very confused," Luther muttered with tightly-knitted eyebrows, his eyes swivelling between each person as they spoke.

Diego glared at him. "Butt out, Luther."

"Fine," Elizabeth huffed as she folded her arms, "if you believe so strongly that you broke itโ€”which you didn'tโ€”then make a new one."

He seemed taken aback by this for a few moments, his eyebrows furrowing and his eyes narrowing. He paused, straightening up before leaning forward and questioning, "What?"

"Make a new promise!" she exclaimed, a small grin coming onto her face as she nodded quickly. "Then it still stands, because from this moment on, you won't break it."

Five frowned. "Why can't you guys just tellโ€”"

"Shut up." Diego considered for a moment before giving a small nod. "Fine, I will."

She smiled. "Good."

Silence filled the room as everyone expectantly waited for Diego to do his end of the part, but they were only greeted with disappointment as he looked down at his lap, clearly thinking to himself about something.

Five sighed, shifting closer to Elizabeth and wrapping his arm around her waist as he used his other hand to take a sip of his coffee. She gave him a small smile, and his grip tightened, his thumb softly caressing her waist.

Elizabeth folded her arms as she leaned into the boy, although her eyes concernedly remained fixated on Diego. "So are you gonna do it?"

Diego scoffed as he looked towards the other two men, shaking his head as he wrinkled his nose. "Not with these bozos around."

"Why not?" Five interjected, his grip around Elizabeth's waist stiffening as he stared at Diego with hardened eyes.

Luther nodded, a frown coming onto his face. "Yeah, I want to know what it is."

"No."

"I mean, it's not that bad, Diego," Elizabeth reasoned with a small smile, giving him a nod of encouragement; "they can know. It's sweet."

Diego shook his head again, a scowl coming onto his face as he said with disgust, "I'm not showing them my emotions."

"Fine." Elizabeth gently took Five's hand off of her waist.

She walked over to Diego, grabbing his hand and pulling him off of his chair. She dragged him over to the living room and sat on the couch, folding her arms as she faced him.ย

"Now."

Diego raised a finger to tell her to wait a moment before unsheathing one of his knives from his belt. Rolling his eyes, he kept his gaze on her as he threw it backward, and it curved to slam into the side of the doorframe, from which Luther was peeking out to watch.

"Christ!" Luther's head disappeared as he fell backward in surprise, and they heard a loud thump before he shouted, "Fine! Don't tell us!"

Elizabeth giggled before turning her attention back to Diego. "So?"

"I . . . Do you remember what I said the first time? I want to be exact." He suddenly squinted his eyes and gave a small shrug. "It was twelve years ago, so you might notโ€”"

"You can question a lot of things about me, Eggo, but never question my memory," she interrupted with a grin. She thought for a moment before nodding to herself and informing him, "You said 'I swear, I'll never let you get hurt again.'"

"How do you not see that I broke that promise?" he scoffed. "You literally gotโ€”"

"Diego, please."

"Okay, okay."

He took a breath, glancing behind him to make sure that no one was listening. After seeing that Luther was still too afraid of his knife and that Five was preoccupied with the mug of coffee in his hands, Diego gave a satisfied nod and turned back towards her.

He shifted closer to her, taking her hands and gently gripping them before looking up at her. His eyes flickered over her face before meeting hers, and a small smile grew onto his face as he murmured, "I swear, I'll never let you get hurt again."

She smiled, leaning forward and kissing his forehead. "Thank you, Eggo."

He kept his gaze on her face for a moment before he whispered, "I love you, little sis."

Elizabeth gave a small giggle. "I love you too, big bro."

"Glad you're finally admitting it." He grinned, offering a hand as he stood up from the couch.

The two of them then got up from the couch and made their way back to the kitchen, resuming the spots that they had been settled in before.

Elizabeth leaned against the counter once more, and Five wrapped an arm around her waist again while sipping his coffee. She kissed his cheek, and he smiled at her, the smile widening as she leaned into him.

"So . . ." Luther nodded slowly as his gaze shifted between Elizabeth and Diego. "What did you guys talk about?"

Diego leaned over and yanked the knife out of the doorframe before pointing the tip of it towards the other man. "I'm going to cut your mouth off."

"Not possible," Luther muttered, grabbing onto his mug and carefully taking a sip.

"All right, boys, enough chit-chat." Elizabeth clapped her hands together, letting out a small sigh. "Let's talk about tonight."

"What is there to talk about?" Diego turned his attention onto her as he gave a small shrug. His eyes narrowed as he turned the knife over in his hands. "We're gonna go in there, question Dad about JFK, save JFK, andโ€”"

"Diego, please," she exhaled, rubbing her eyes before exchanging a wary look with the boy next to her. "Let's be serious for a second."

An offended look crossed Diego's face. "I am being serious."

Elizabeth stared at him for a moment before shaking her head. "Everyone except for Diego, let's talk about tonight."

โ€”โœฉโ€”

"Goldie, I just think thatโ€”"

"I do not care what you think, we cannot save the president!"

"But weโ€”"

"It will disrupt the timeline!"

"But Dadโ€”"

"Who cares if he's behind it?"

"I do! If we justโ€”"

"Five, please save me," Elizabeth sighed, leaning back and into Five's side as he sat next to her on the couch.

"It's too late," Five exhaled, wrapping an arm around her shoulders as he narrowed his eyes at Diego, who was sitting next to Luther on the opposite couch. "He's gone insane. We should throw him back into that mental hospital."

"Agreed," both Elizabeth and Luther said, nodding their heads.

"Whaโ€”" Diego rolled his eyes, shaking his head as he leaned forward and rested his elbows on his knees. "I'm right. You guys are just too proud to admit that Dad's part of the Majestic Twelve."

"It's not that we're too proud, Diego," said Luther with raised eyebrows. "It's just that we don't care."

"Okay," he scoffed, "thatโ€”"

"Focus!" Elizabeth groaned.ย

She shook her head, muttering quiet curses to herself as she crossed the room, feeling all three boys' eyes on her as she reached the cabinet filled with stationary before grabbing a roll of duct tape.

She walked back over to the couch, her eyes narrowed at Diego and sat back down in the same spot as before. She tore off a small piece of duct tape, which she then threateningly showed off to the man opposite of her.

"I will use this if necessary."

"Yeah, yeah, whatever," Diego said dismissively, rolling his eyes as she hardened her stare. "I'm just saying, Dad is behindโ€”"

"Diego!" Elizabeth sprung to her feet and stepped towards him, slapping on the piece of duct tape over his mouth, a scolding expression on her face as she did so. "I told you!"

Luther sighed as he stood up, brushing off his pants.

"Where are you going?" Elizabeth questioned as she turned to him, her arms folding as Diego gave muffled groans in protest of what she had done.

He raised his hands to try and rip the duct tape up, but she blasted him with a light amount of energy before he could do so, forcing him to let out another groan and lower his hands.

"I have to go," Luther answered vaguely, then beginning to head down the stairs. "I'll see you guys at the dinner."

"Whaโ€”Luther!" Elizabeth called after him, her eyebrows furrowing. "We have to plan! Five, tell him!"

"It's not that big a loss," Five said dismissively as he sat back, waving a hand through the air.

Diego, who had taken the tape off as Elizabeth had turned to Five, spoke up, "Yeah, I'm ditching this joint too if you aren't gonna agree with me."

"Leave, then," Five told him with raised eyebrows.

Diego gave him a hardened glare before getting up, tossing the strip of duct tape in Elizabeth's direction before heading off the same way that Luther had gone in.

"Great," Elizabeth sighed, putting the duct tape onto the coffee table before sitting back down next to Five and leaning into his side. "We're screwed."

"I'm sure we'll be fine," Five reassured her, clasping her waist and squeezing tightly.

"Oh yeah?" she scoffed as she turned her head to face him. "Diego's a nutjob who's gonna accuse Dad of a murder that hasn't happened yet, Luther is an idiot who doesn't think before he speaks or does anything, Klaus is Klaus, Vanya might blow us all up, and Allisonโ€”well, I'm not that worried about her."

Five frowned, his nose wrinkling. "Well . . ."

"I don't know, Five, I think we might have to take up he Handler's offer," she sighed, folding her arms.

"Don't even think about that right now. We'll be able to convince Dad, I'm sure we will," Five told her firmly before leaning forward and pressing a kiss onto her forehead. "Trust me, beautiful. We'll be fine."
