Kara lay on top of one of the hospital beds in the infirmary, her eyes squeezed shut as she felt the warm touch of Professor Xavier's hands on her forehead.

Amelia and Peter were sitting in chairs next to the bed, Amelia clearly the most nervous out of all of them as Professor Xavier read Kara's mind.

"Hmmmmmm . . ." Kara heard Professor Xavier hum, his voice low as he murmured to himself, "Interesting . . . . Very . . . Very interesting . . . . Oh . . . . oh no . . . . Hmmmmmmm. Very, very interesting . . . ."

Kara scrunched her face. That didn't sound too good.

"Like . . . like a good interesting? Or a bad interesting?" Kara opened her eyes to see Professor Xavier's face not too far from hers, his eyes narrowed in concentration.

"Hmmmmmmm. Just . . . very interesting."

This did not make Kara feel any better.

After another few moments, Amelia exasperatedly shouted out, "Well, spit it out!"

The professor sighed. "It's terminal."

Kara's heart stopped, and it seemed as though Amelia's did the same as she fell off of her chair.

He continued, "I'd say you have, at most, a few hours before your brain explodes all over the wallβ€”"

"What?!" the three of them shouted in utter disbelief. Kara's faced multiple consequences for her actions beforeβ€”but none of them like this. As in, none of them being the death of her.

"I'm just kidding, you're completely fine," he laughed at their reaction as he placed his hands on Kara's forehead once more. "Very lucky, actually, this could have gone horribly wrong."

"Goddammit, Professor, you were giving me hope!" Kara joked as she sent a malicious grin over to Amelia, who sent a glare in return.Β

"Kara, shut the fuck up." Amelia rubbed her eyes, giving Kara the reaction she was waiting for. "So what are we dealing with here?"

"From what I can tell, she's got a form of mental energy manipulation," Professor Xavier started. "There are a very wide range of things she may be able to do, like telekinesis, teleportation, invisibility, you've already seen her energy distribution, more than likely enhanced self-healing and she's also . . . incredibly smart."

Peter rolled his eyes. "We already know thatβ€”"

"No, I mean incredibly," Professor Xavier cut him off, chuckling lightly. "As in, IQ in the four hundreds."

Had Kara heard him correctly? Four hundreds? Four on the dot, sure, that was a number she'd understand, but four hundreds?

Amelia seemed to be thinking the exact same thing as she stared at Kara in shock. "The four hundreds?!"

"As in multiple hundreds?!" Kara sat up, her eyes wide as she gave the exact same look back at Amelia.

"Not the teens like everyone thought?" Peter gasped dramatically.

Amelia ran her hands through her hair. "Holy shit!"

"Indeed," Professor Xavier nodded. "So this means she'll have things like an increased memorization and learning capacity, she can make quick calculations, deductions, perceptions . . . she's become quite the encyclopedia."

"I guess . . ." Amelia thought for a moment. "Okay, so for now let's focus on getting your energy under control and . . . we'll see how far we get."

—♝—

It was Kara's first day of training, and boy, was she nervous. What if she blew another hole in the wall? What if she blew the room up? What if she blew her best friend up? Those weren't exactly her ideal situations.

To practice her energy manipulation powers, Amelia had brought Kara into what she called the 'Tunnel Room.' And that name was quite fitting for the room as well. The ceiling was curved, and the long, metal walls were lined with lights that lit the room. The door was one similar to a bank vault, in order to keep whatever was happening inside, inside. And good thing, too, as the walls were decorated with singe marks from previous mutants who had practiced their powers in this room.

Kara had never visited the room before, as she obviously never had reason to previous to this visit. She wasn't sure if the room normally had mannequins in the back corner but she assumed that they would probably be useful in whatever Amelia wanted her to do today.

"First thing's first," Amelia started as she closed the door tightly. "Before we get into actually throwing any energy anywhere, we should try getting you to hold it in your hand."

She led Kara to the middle of the room and sat the two of them down. "Now, yours is a little different from mine because you can create your own energy, whereas I have to absorb it from another source."

Amelia extended her hand out towards the wall, seeming to be taking the energy from one of the lights. Soon, a small, yellow ball floated just above her hand. She lightly spun it in her hand, the glow cloaking her fingers.

Kara's eyes were wide with interest as she watched Amelia mindlessly play with the ball of energy. "Wow, you're basically a human Deluminator."

Amelia laughed, "Sure. Okay, so . . . here's what I need you to do." She threw the ball back to the light before turning to Kara with a smile. "Close your eyes and relax. Tell me how you feel."

Kara closed her eyes, wrinkling her nose. "Scared shitless."

Amelia chuckled, "No, I mean physically. When you close your eyes and just . . . focus. What do you feel? For example, when I hold this energy" β€”she reached her hand out again, feeling the energy in her handβ€” "and I focus on it, it almost feels . . . tingly. Like when your foot falls asleep. And if you just take a deep breath and focus, what do you feel?"

Kara closed her eyes once more and extended her hand just as Amelia did. She felt the unfamiliar feeling scratch her hands, just as it had done when she ruined her room. "It feels . . . kinda tingly. I don't like it."

Amelia laughed before continuing, "The more aware you are of the extra energy you have, the easier it will be to control. Okay, so focus that tingle into your palm. Imagine that tingle taking the physical form of a ball and holding it in your hand."

"Uh . . . okay . . ." Kara furrowed her eyebrows in concentration as she tried to call energy into her hand. As she focused, there were a few flickers of light in her hand, before a fully formed cyan ball materialized, quite a tiny one at that.Β

"There you go!" A grin spread onto Amelia's face. "Now see if you can make the ball bigger. Focus on putting more of your energy into it."

"Okay . . ." Kara took a deep breath and focused on trying to enlarge the ball. After a few moments, the ball grew to the size of an orange, instantly delighting her. "Whoa, that's cool." She then knit her eyebrows together. "But like . . . what do I do with it?"

"Well, that's what we're going to find out." Amelia smiled as she stood up. "We already know you can blow stuff up, so that probably means not a lot of people are going to be able to touch your energy." Amelia created another ball of energy in her hand.

"I know that with my energy I'm also able to manipulate it into different things, so, again, for example, I can make a rope." She began to pull on the ball, and it began to transform into a thick rope. She took the end and threw it into the air, the rest of it morphing into a long rope. She swung it above her head, the crackle of electricity instantly filling the room.

"Or a sword." She then moulded the energy into a long sword, brandishing it so that Kara could see.

"Or a staff." With a few movements of her hand, the sword transformed into a staff, it being about six feet tall.

"Or anything I want, really," she finished, leaning against her staff as it stood strong on the ground. "And I'm sure you'll be able to do the same."

"Damn," Kara breathed out, amazed at the show she had just been entertained by. She shook her head quickly, trying to shift back into focus. "Okay. How do I do that?"

"We'll get to that later." Amelia tossed her energy away. "Right now I want to try blasting holes through things again. This is like, one of two rooms you can actually practice this in, so while we have it available to us, let's take advantage of it. All I want you to do is make another ball and throw it . . ." Amelia swiftly made her way over to the mannequins and dragged one to the middle of the room. "At this."

"Okay." Kara felt her anxiousness grow as she nodded quickly. "Fun, funky, fresh, okay. Will do. That, I will do. Okay."

Kara made another ball in her hands, the tingling sensation becoming more and more familiar by the second. Slightly scared, she took a deep breath and threw the ball at the mannequin. To her surprise (and some sort of relief), the ball bounced off of the mannequin's chest and rolled on the ground, leaving everything intact.

"Oh, so now my powers don't want to put holes in things?" Kara groaned, looking up at the ceiling while shaking her head. Her poor Draco Malfoy poster . . .

Amelia picked the ball up, her eyes narrowed as she pondered. "Okay, then maybe other people will be able to touch it. Because if I were to touch it with my energyβ€”" She walked up to the mannequin as she called more energy to her hand, and placed her hand on the mannequin's chest. As soon as she made contact, the white plastic began to melt. "This means you probably have to intentionally want the energy to destruct. You have to will it to do so."

She walked back behind Kara, tossing the blue ball from one hand to the other. "So I would just try putting one leg a bit behind the other so you can keep your balance and just . . . fucking go for it, dude."

"All right." Kara took her advice and went into the stance Amelia had suggested. She took a deep breath and imagined the cyan light that had ruined her wall and door, willing for the same kind of intensity as she pushed her hands in front of her.

Instantly, a blast of cyan shot out toward the mannequin, and the object blew up upon contact. Kara looked at Amelia with wide eyes, barely being able to believe what she had just done.

"Holy shit."

Amelia laughed and gave her a high-five with her free hand. "Awesome!"

On Monday, Kara worked with Amelia on invisibility. At first, Kara felt bad that she was taking Amelia away from Peter for yet another day, but then she remembered that Peter got to see her every day anyway, and her guilt soon dissipated.

It was a lot of hard work, but by the end of the day, Kara was able to turn completely invisible and revert back to being visible on command. And not that she was going to use this to sneak up on Tony, or Steve, or Nat, or any of the other Avengers or anything . . . but she was most definitely going to do that.

On Tuesday, Amelia finally got a break away from Kara, and it was Kurt's turn to be her mentor. He could teleport, and according to Professor Xavier, Kara could also teleport, so perfect match!

"Teleportation is a little bit tricky in zee beginning," Kurt started. "And it's going to feel a lot like how you feel after Peter takes you somevhere vith his speed."

"Oh, that's not good." Kara groaned, already feeling nauseous from the mention of it. "Am I going to throw up?"

"Probably. I know I did. But you'll get used to it," Kurt reassured her, chuckling lightly at her reaction. "Zat definitely took a vile, zough."

"Oh no. Okay. How do I do it?" Kara asked.

"It may not be zee same for you, but for me, I have to be able to see zee place I vant to go to actually end up zere. Or I have to have been zere before," Kurt explained, giving her a small nod. "Let's start vith just zee ozer side of zee room."

Suddenly, he was on the other side of the room. He called over to her, "All I do is imagine myself standing zere and . . . kind of just . . . vill it to happen, I guess."

"All right." Kara took a deep breath, scrunching her nose in concentration as she tried. She tried for about a minute before she gave up, sighing as she looked over to Kurt. "Okay, so like . . . I can't do it. Help."

Kurt teleported back next to her, causing her to jump slightly. "Do you vant to try teleporting vith me first so you can see vat it feels like?"

"Okay." She nodded.

He put a hand on her shoulder, and a second later, they were on the other side of the room. "How did zat feel?"

"Holy . . . Uh, weird." Kara rubbed her stomach, which felt a little off. "At least it's a lot better than running with Peter."

"Ya, I don't know how Amelia does it all zee time," Kurt laughed. "Now, you just need to imagine yourself standing zere. It really helped me to close my eyes in zee beginning and picture myself zere."

"Okay, I'll try." Kara closed her eyes, imagining herself to be on the other side of the room, just as Kurt had suggested. A strange feeling overtook her, and she opened her eyes to see that she was on the other side of the room. "I did it! Whoa! That is so cool!"

"And how do you feel now?" Kurt asked, a small grin on his face.

"Uh . . . kinda not great, but that's okay." Kara shrugged. At least she had done it.

"Zee more you do it zee better it vill get." Kurt nodded. "Now let's try a greater distance. Come over here." He walked over the window that showed the backyard of the Mansion and pointed towards the forest. "Can you see zee edge just vere zee forest begins?"

"Yeaβ€”wait . . ." Kara squinted her eyes. "Yeah."

Kurt gave her a toothy grin before he disappeared. She looked out the window to see that he was standing in the spot that he had just been pointing at, waving at her.

"Whaβ€”no! Kurt! Come back! No!" Kara sighed. She began to talk to herself (something she did quite often), "I guess I have to somehow get there. Maybe I could just run there so fast that he doesn't notice that I didn't teleport? No, that's crazy, I'm so slow. What if I just go back to my room? Wait no, then he'll tell Amelia, and she'll yell at me. What ifβ€”I should probably just do it. Okay, Kara, you can do it. Easy as pie." She nodded to herself.

She closed her eyes, and imagined again, although her mind strayed to one of the trees that she had just seen. The strange feeling appeared again, and she felt the hard ground change into a nestle of leaves. She opened her eyes to see that she was on top of a tree.

"Uh . . . Kurt? Kurt!"

Kurt teleported to the top of the tree. "Zis is a lot closer to zee Mansion zan I sought you vould go. Neverzeeless, let's just try again."

"Oh, God. Okay, let's do it." Kara closed her eyes, and tried to picture exactly the edge of the forest. A few moments later, she opened her eyes to see she had landed in her destination. "Oh, I did it! And I'm on the ground!"

"Very good!" Kurt grinned as he teleported next to her. "Now let's go back to zee room vee started in."

"Gotcha!" She teleported back to the room with ease. She didn't even have to close her eyes this time!

"Zat's very good!" Kurt appeared next to her. "Vell done!"

On Wednesday, Kara had been mentored by Jean on how to master the art that was telekinesis. It had taken her a couple of hours, but with Jean's patience and help, Kara was able to perform the basics of telekinesis. She could lift things up, push things back, and bind things to a spot so that they couldn't be moved (as long as they were in her grip, at least).

They hadn't spent the whole day on it, thankfully, so Kara had enough time to finish the math and English work that Peter had sent her the day before. She had to say, she couldn't be more grateful for the boy.

Thursday was more of a simple training day, with Kara once again being accompanied by Amelia in the Tunnel Room. They just did some fine-tuning in her energy manipulation and worked intricately on controlling intensity. Although using her powers drained her quite a bit, she felt fine by the end of it.

After they had finished the training that had lasted for what felt like forever, Kara felt her phone vibrate in her back pocket, she pulled it out to see that Peter was trying to Facetime her, something she could never say no to.

She quickly teleported into her room, not minding that the door was opened as she answered the call. Her room could be passed off as one of a hotel's, so she wasn't worried about her cover being blown.

Peter's face soon appeared on the screen, him sitting at the desk in his room. A grin spread onto his face as Kara waved hello, leaning her phone on the wall as she placed it on the desk and sat down.

"Hey, Kara! How's your mom's business stuff?" Peter asked brightly as Kara pulled out her notebook.

"Uh . . . good!" Kara hated lying to him, but of course, she couldn't tell him the truth. "Very full of business and official stuff."

She was also a terrible liar, so that didn't help.

"I'm sure it is," Peter laughed, not seeming to notice her suspicious words. "Anyway, I figured it'd be better to call you this time because it would take me forever to type out all the work we did."

Kara froze in her spot, her hand hovering over her pencil case. "Was there really that much?" she asked worriedly.

He nodded, an irritated look coming over his face. "Mr. Dankworth and Mr. Cobbwell make me want to die."

"Oh no." Kara rubbed her eyes. "Okay, tell me all of it."

"Okay, so, we did two worksheets in bio, and then we also have a unit test on cells and stuff next Tuesday (he'll give us the outline tomorrow). Then, in English, we just read a chapter of the book, no biggie. Then in chem, we had to write all the definitions from pages eighty-one to a hundred, and then we're being given a project tomorrow that we have to do in partners (but don't worry, I'll be your partner!), and Cobbwell said it's worth fifteen percent of our mark."

Kara stopped writing and groaned at that before continuing to write down what he was saying.

He continued, "Then in Spanish, we had a lesson on adverbs, I can send you it after. And then shop, we did nothing, as usual. And then in math, we had to do questions one to sixteen on page one hundred and twenty-six and one hundred and twenty-seven, and we're going to have a quiz on Friday. Although, I guess you'll do it next week."

Kara put her head into her hands. How was she supposed to do all this while training?! She simply had no time! She tried not to spiral, taking deep breaths.

"Are you okay?" Peter asked worriedly, noticing her freaking out. "Don't worry, it's not that bad."

She lifted her head and stared at him. "You just said you want to die a few minutes ago."

A guilty smile came onto his face. "Okay, yeah, but don't worry! I can help you if you want!"

How was he so goddamn cute?

"No, it's okay." She gave him a reassuring smile. "You've already helped a lot as is. Plus, I don't want to take away any more of your time."

"I wouldn't mind spending more time with you, even if it's through Facetime." He shrugged, his cheeks slightly pink. "But anyway, if you need help, just text me!"

"Got it. Thanks, Parker." Kara smiled before waving goodbye and hanging up.

She picked up her notebook and plopped onto her bed, staring at the long list of contents with anxiousness. How was she supposed to finish all this? And this was all from one day of work! She hadn't even finished catching up on Monday's work! And today was Thursday!

She could feel tears start to build up in her eyes as her eyes hopelessly gazed over the seemingly never-ending list of work. Even with her newly high IQ, she was more than sure she wouldn't be able to finish this on time. And the consequence from that alone terrified her. What if her teachers yelled at her? What if her mom yelled at her?

And just the thought of going back to school was gut-wrenching. Usually, the thought of going to school was exciting; she loved that place. But now, knowing that one wrong flick of the hand, one mindless movement could end up in the destruction of the school or someone getting hurt? The idea terrified her.

Who knew what could happen? It was very possible. Especially with the limited amount of training. Kara would be going back in a few days, after all. What if she ended up hurting someone?

The tears she had been trying to keep back were now flowing down her cheeks, unstoppable. She tried to pry her thoughts away from all of this but found herself unable to.

Suddenly, someone walked into the room, quickly revealing themselves to be Scott. "Hey, Kara, are you . . . are you okay?"

"Oh, uh, hey, Scott!" Kara dropped the notebook before quickly wiping her tears away with the back of her hand, hoping Scott hadn't seen them. "Yeah, I'm great! Never been better!"

Scott sat down next to her, his eyebrows furrowed. "Are you sure?"

"Uh . . . yeah?" Kara gave him an awkward smile that definitely did not convince him.

"Well, because . . . you know, crying doesn't really happen a lot if the person's feeling okay, so . . ."

Okay, so he had seen the tears.

"Well . . . Here's the thing, being here for this whole week . . ." she sighed, folding her arms. She suddenly burst, "I've missed so much school work! My friend just told me all the things I've missed, and oh my God, Scott, what if I can't catch up? Or what if I have to rush and finish everything and get a bad mark on it? And now, on top of that, I have to be able to control my powers at school? What if I can't?! What if I accidentally hurt someone, or blast a hole in the wall, or just blow the whole school up somehow? People will hate me! My friends would hate me! Oh God, Scott, my friends hate me! I'm going to fail, I'm going to fail life, and I'm going to be a homeless person on the street with no money, no food, no life, no friends because they all hate meβ€”"

"Kara, you have an IQ of sixty-five billion, I think you'll be able to catch up," Scott chuckled, giving her a half-reassuring half-awkward pat on the head. "And everyone's been saying you've been doing really well in your training . . . plus I don't think the professor would let you go back if he didn't know if you could handle it."

"I don't know, Scott, I don't know! Elsa thought she had everything under control, and look where she ended up! She put Arendelle in an everlasting winter! Oh, God, I'm Elsa! I'm going to blow up my school and put it in everlasting nothingness! And even with smartness, that doesn't equal speed! I'm going to have way too much work to do, even with my friends' help, I don't know if I canβ€”" Kara suddenly paused.

A dizzy feeling had introduced itself to her head, one that was strengthening by the second. She blinked quickly, seeing black spots beginning to appear in front of her eyes.

Whatever was happening, it was not good.

"Kara . . . ?" Scott narrowed his eyes, now concerned over her sudden silence.

"Scott . . . I don't feel so good . . ." Kara suddenly slumped forward, going unconscious.

Kara suddenly saw Scott once more, but they were no longer in her bedroom. He was heading towards the garage door, humming to himself. The tune was soon recognized to be the melody of Centuries by Fall Out Boy, and it apparently was stuck in the boy's head.

He then opened the door, pushing it forward, to be met with a sudden splat! A bucket, elaborately placed on top of the door, had fallen onto him and had released a load of green slime, which covered Scott from head-to-toe.

His look of shock soon contorted into one of anger as he realized what had just happened. He muttered to himself, "Peter."

He turned on his heel, and with an angry march, headed in the direction he had just come from. A few minutes later, he was at the dining room, his finger pointed at Peter, whose mouth was full of sandwich.

"Peter, you goddamn moron!" Scott shouted, eliciting quite a few stares (although, the vibrant slime was enough to get those strange looks itself).

Peter looked over. "What did I doβ€”oh shit."

"Oh yeah, oh shit, look at me!" Scott gestured to himself angrily, referring to the slime that had ruined his clothing.

Peter laughed, not seeming to care about how furious the other boy was. "You look like Slimer from the Ghostbusters movie."

"Oh ha, ha, yes, let's laugh up the fact that you just ruined my new pair of glasses! I can't see shit!" Scott folded his arms.

"That kind of sucks." Peter shrugged.

If Scott wasn't enraged before, he most definitely was now. "Kind ofβ€”"

"You might wanna take a shower though, your skin's looking a little . . ." a grin spread on Peter's face," slimy."

Scott then bolted towards Peter, and the speedster immediately got up from the spot he was in. Despite having super-speed, Peter ran at a normal paceβ€”obviously only to further annoy Scott. Scott chased Peter through the various floors of the Mansion as he screamed more insults and obscene words at the speedster, who only seemed to be getting amused at this.

This went on for another three minutes, and Scott finally stopped, him being out of breath. Peter only sent him a wink before dashing off, leaving Scott to swear at him as he panted.

Kara suddenly woke up, now in the infirmary. She was more than confused at what just happened. Was that some sort of fever dream? And what was she doing here? She figured the latter could be answered by the worried faces of Amelia and Peter, who were standing next to the bed.

"Whaβ€”how'd I get here?" Kara slowly sat up, rubbing her head, which was currently experiencing the worst headache ever.

Amelia, now relieved that Kara had woken up, explained, "You passed out in your room and Peter brought you down here."

"You doin' okay?" Peter asked in concern, his eyebrows raised.

"I just had the craziest dream, but anyway, uh . . ." She shook her head, getting the image of Slimy Scott out of her mind. "My head kinda hurts, but otherwise, I'm fine."

"Scott told me you were worried about school, and how you thought you were going to fall behind." Amelia sat down on the edge of the bed, her eyebrows furrowed as she carefully inspected Kara's face. "Kara, you must realize that's not true."

"I mean . . . you never know." Kara shrugged, worry beginning to take over her once more. "Parker was telling me all the work they did, and it's so much."

"Kara, you were already one of the smartest people in school before your IQ raised to a billion. You're not going to fall behind because of a few high school tests," Amelia chuckled, placing a reassuring hand on Kara's.

"I guess . . . but anyway . . . Why the heck did I pass out?" Kara questioned as she furrowed her eyebrows.

"You're probably just really stressed with these powers." Amelia shrugged.

"You haven't even had them for a week and it has been the only thing you've been focusing on," Peter pointed out.

"It is a lot. It's draining, and you're probably just really confused and tired. I think you should be almost done though, so you'll get to go home really soon." Amelia nodded, giving her a reassuring smile.

"Yeah, I'm sure staying up all night to do homework doesn't really help," Kara sighed. "And when am I not confused . . ."

"Kara, you need to go to bed," Peter said sternly.

"It's okay if you don't do your homework for one night," Amelia laughed.

Kara frowned, "But my math hoβ€”"

Both of them immediately shook their heads, simultaneously saying, "No!"

"Fine. I'll just leave my math homework for tomorrow. And cry myself to sleep because I can't do it," Kara sighed.

"Good." Amelia kissed her on the cheek. "Sleep. Now. Goodnight."

The next day, Kara, Amelia, and Peter were enjoying lunch in the dining room. The rest of the kids accompanied the tables around them, all of them chatting as they enjoyed their meal.

Amelia squinted her eyes as she ate her sandwich. "You know what would be so cool?"

"What?" Kara asked as she grabbed a few strawberries from the centre of the table.

"If I won the lottery."

Kara giggled, "If you ever win the lottery, please give me like, a sixteenth of it."

"How about a penny?" Amelia offered.

"Better than nothing." Kara shrugged.

"Where do you think we should go if I win the lottery?" Amelia asked Peter, who narrowed his eyes in return.

"Would you even need it? I can take you anywhere in the world you want, and you're the daughter of Tony Stark."

Amelia folded her arms. "That's not the point. What do you think the chances are of me actually winning, though? Like what, one in a billion?"

"One in 33,294,800," Kara immediately said without thinking. She paused before she could take a bite of her sandwich, surprised at what she had just said. "Whoa. How'd I know that?"

Amelia laughed at her surprise. "Didn't the professor say your IQ was like 33,294,800?"

"I think you're going a little too high, Ames."

"I rounded." Amelia shrugged as she chewed a cucumber that had fallen out of Peter's sandwich.

Kara scrunched her face. "To the nearest what?"

"33,294,800," Amelia answered simply, a grin on her face.

"All right there, Einstein."

"Wait," Amelia gasped. "But if you're the actual Einstein here . . ."

"We should test it to see if it's true," Peter finished her sentence, sipping his energy drink.

"Test me." Kara nodded. She loved being quizzed.

Peter started, "What's 306,958 times 69?"

Kara thought for a quick second before answering, "21,180,102."

Amelia put this into the calculator on her phone, her eyes widening as she saw the exact same number appear on her screen. "Holy shit."

"13,584,384,236 times 42069," Peter prompted.

"571,481,460,424,284."

Amelia stared at the phone screen in shock. ". . . Oh my God."

"294,102 times 3,502 to the power of 3 divided by 9,294,126.276."

"1,359,057,508.6389."

"What were some other things the professor said would increase?" Amelia asked.

"Increased memorization and learning capacity, and I can make quick calculations, deductions, and perceptions," Kara remembered, squinting her eyes.

"Memorization, huh?" Amelia scanned the room, her eyes landing on one of the students who had strawberry blonde hair and blue eyes. "Robin, what are you reading?"

Robin looked up from her book and lifted it for them to see the red cover. "Allegiant."

"Perfect." Amelia grinned. "Can I borrow it for a second?"

"Sure."

Amelia took the book and flipped through the pages, landing on one after a few seconds. Her eyes skimmed over the words, and she giggled to herself before reading it out loud:

"'Then his lips are on mine again, and he pulls his shirt out from under my hands so that I am touching his bare skin. I come to life, pressing closer, my hands creeping up his back, sliding over his shoulders. His breaths come faster and so do mine, and I taste the lemon-syrup fizz we just drank and I smell the wind on his skin and all I want is more, more'."

Oh, God.

"'I push his shirt up. A moment ago I was cold, but I don't think either of us is cold now. His arm wraps around my waist, strong and certain, and his free hand tangles in my hair and I slow down, drinking it inβ€”the smoothness of his skin, marked up and down with black ink, and the insistence of the kiss, and the cool air wrapped around'β€”"

"Why the hell would you ask me to memorize that?!" Kara interrupted as she flicked the side of Amelia's head in a scolding manner. "I'm fifteen! Fifteen! Just because I don't go and have seβ€”"

"I just flipped to a random page and started reading!" Amelia scoffed. "Let's also not ignore the fact that this book was made for people your age! You read the book!"

"Okay, okay, whatever," Kara sighed as she rolled her eyes. Without thinking, she began to recite word-for-word what Amelia had just read out, both her and Amelia's eyes widening with each word. She realized, "Holyβ€”wait a second. Does this mean I can memorize the entire Harry Potter series and just read it in my head?!"

Amelia gave Robin her book back as Peter gasped excitedly, "So does this mean we don't have to watch it with you anymore?!"

"Because you'll already have it memorized and you can watch it whenever you want in your head?!"

"Except I think we've seen those movies so many times we already do have them memorized," Peter pointed out.

"No." Kara folded her arms, crinkling her nose. "It means that we'll watch it the same amount of times and I'll say the lines with them! In my amazing British accent, obviously."

"Do that in your own free time, my brain melts every time I watch those movies now," Amelia sighed. "Even when I see Fred."

Peter rolled his eyes. "I'm leaving next time. I don't even care. I'm done."

"We should just make out next time," Amelia suggested to Peter, her eyebrows raised.

"Oh my God," Peter groaned as he leaned back. "That's so much better."

Kara crinkled her nose once more. "Ew. That's disgusting. Make out on your own time."

"That is my own time, because I'm not here," Amelia responded, waving her hand. "And anytime I'm not here, it's my time. And I'm never paying attention to a Harry Potter movie ever again."

"That's fine." Kara shrugged, not minding in the least. "I don't need you, I have Cedric."

"Good!" Amelia laughed. "Have fun!" She picked up her sandwich, about to take another bite before a piece of meat that was covered in sauce dropped onto her pants. Kara laughed at her before Amelia giggled as Kara accidentally did the same thing. Amelia seemed as though she was going to make a sly remark when:

"Peter, you goddamn moron!" Scott burst into the room, shouting at the silver-haired boy who was in the middle of eating his sandwich.

Peter's attention turned to him. "What did I doβ€”oh shit."

"Oh yeah, oh shit, look at me!" Scott gestured to the slime that was covering him.

Peter laughed childishly, "You look like Slimer from the Ghostbusters movie."

"Oh 'ha, ha,' yes, let's laugh up the fact that you just ruined my new pair of glasses! I can't see shit!" Scott folded his arms.

"That kind of sucks." Peter shrugged.

"Kind ofβ€”"

"You might wanna take a shower though, your skin's looking a little" β€”a grin spread on Peter's faceβ€” "slimy."

As the boys ran off, Kara's eyes widened as she processed what had just happened. This was exactly what she had seen in her dream! "Holy shit."

"What's wrong?" Amelia, who had just finished laughing at the scene, turned to her with furrowed eyebrows.

"Yo, you know how I passed out yesterday and then said I had a crazy dream?"

"Yeah?"

"That . . . that was it. I dreamtβ€”saw?β€”that." Kara swallowed, confused. "Word-for-word, exactly how it played out."

"Like deja vu? This isn't the first time this has happened." Amelia shrugged, brushing it off.

"But I wasn't here for any of those other times," Kara pointed out. "And I don't think it was deja vu, because I hadn't deja vued!"

"Um . . . well, was there anything else you saw?" Amelia questioned, now seeming a little more concerned about this than before.

"Yeah, before Scott came in here all slimed up, I watched him open the garage door and a bucket of slime dropped on him." Kara pondered for another second. "Also, I'm pretty sure he was humming to himself. It was . . . Centuries by Fall Out Boy, I'm pretty sure."

Amelia nodded slowly. "Hm . . . okay, let's ask him after he gets cleaned up."

Once Scott was clean of all gooey slime, Amelia and Kara approached him. Kara felt nervous about finding out if she had been right, but she wasn't too sure why.

Amelia waved, getting his attention. "Hey Scott, what happened? Like, how did the slime happen?"

"Uh . . . I was just opening the door to the garage cause I wanted to fix up one of the cars and the bucket fell on me," he explained hastily, obviously still mad about the boy who had escaped him (quite easily, too).

Amelia and Kara glanced at each other. So far, the story was lining up with her 'dream'.

"Were you, like, humming, or something? Or had a certain song in your head?" Kara questioned, her eyebrows knit together tightly.

"Uh . . ." He thought for a moment. "Well, I passed by one of the kid's rooms and they were blasting Centuries so it probably got stuck in my head? I don't know!"

"Centuries, as in . . . Fall Out Boy Centuries?" Amelia specified.

"Yeah." Scott nodded, seeming confused by their questioning.

The two girls exchanged another glance, although this one was more dramatic. "Holy shit."

Deciding that this matter could only be helped by Professor Xavier, they immediately made their way to his office, luckily finding him there. After letting them in, Amelia started,

"Um . . . so, you know how Kara passed out?"

"Yeah?" Professor Xavier nodded, tilting his head.

Kara began to explain, "Right, so, uh, I had this crazy dream. And basicallyβ€”"

"You had a vision of the future?!" The professor read her mind before she could manage to get any more words out, his eyes now wide as he waited for someone to confirm.

". . . Yeah?" Kara gave him an awkward smile.

"That's quite the discovery. And it happened when you passed out?" he questioned, now rubbing his chin in thought.

"Yes." Kara nodded.

"Okay, well . . ." He narrowed his eyes, thinking. "Your powers have been developing rather quickly over this past weekβ€”much quicker than they should, might I addβ€”and this has never come up before? Not once?"

"Nope." She shook her head.

"Then maybe it was because you were upset. You were in a very vulnerable state and in a state of high stress, and that's the only real time you ever had such an emotional episode. Maybe the visions are linked to that," Professor Xavier concluded, giving a slight nod.

"So if she gets super upset she'll have a vision?" Amelia asked.

"Based off of this one vision . . . yes. You'll have a more clear answer with the more visions you get." He nodded.

"That's . . . great. Wonderful," Kara sighed. "I'll just try not to cry as much."

Amelia chuckled, "I guess this means no Monopoly for a few months then."
