S2, Chapter 6: Iroha's Dilemma, A Christmas Event
With the end of the student council election, things seem to be brightening up for the Service Club members. The relationships between the members seem to be healing and were now on terms with talking to each other.
Currently, Yui was talking to Yukino. Hachiman was reading his book as usual and Y/N was sitting on his phone, playing King's Knight, paying no attention to mind what was going in the room.
Yui: And it's been really dry lately, right? So Yumiko brought this little humidifier to school, and it was spitting out a ton of steam all through class! You know, those new ones powered bu...USJ? USA? That kind!
Y/N would briefly look up every now and then from his phone, noticing the small smile present on Yukino's face.
It was quite odd to him. The very first day the two girls met each other, she wasn't at all interested in talking to her, but Yui was excited. Looking at them now, it's like they were the best of friends.
Y/N didn't mind. Nor did he ever. He was just glad the people he knew had people to talk to aside from him.
He resumes back to his game, focusing back on the screen as he watches his units attack. He soon gets a message from his sister, notifying him that she would pick him up after school because she needed help getting groceries. Y/N replied with a simple "okay," and went back to his game. But he couldn't help think, the days in the Service Club hadn't changed.
Yui: Right, Hikky, L/N-san?
Y/N: ...Huh?
Hachiman: ...I'm listening. And it's USB. Why should humidifiers have to get their power from America?
Yui: Yeah, that's it! USB! Cell phones these days can be charged with that USB thing, too.
Y/N: Well, we are in the so-called modern era. Since no one's coming, can I leave now? Nee-san needs my help with grocery shopping.
Yukino: I don't see why not.
Y/N: Well then, excuse me.
Grabbing his bag, the L/N boy leaves and messages his sister come to the school.
After around thirty minutes, his sister pulls up in her Toyota 86. Y/N thought it was odd that his sister would go for a sports car, but he thought little of it. Going over to the local supermarket, they go in and look for the required items they desired.
Y/N: Nee-san...
Setsuna: Hmm?
Y/N: Saki was wondering when we're visiting them.
Setsuna: Probably Christmas since we didn't go during Thanksgiving. Why?
Y/N: She told me that Taishi has been wanting that pasta again.
Setsuna: Fufufu.~ Leave it to me!
Y/N: (small grin) Hai, hai.
Setsuna: Oh, can you run over and get some milk?
Y/N: Sure.
Parting with his sister, he goes on over to the dairy section, looking for the milk. As he browsed through, he heard a familiar voice.
???: Fancy meeting you here.
Y/N: Hmm?
Low and behold, it was the ice queen herself, carrying around a small basket with her own items that she was buying.
Y/N: Oh, Yukinoshita.
Yukino: Didn't I say to call me by my name when we were alone?
Y/N: Did you?
Yukino: (small glare) I believe I did.
Y/N: (sigh) Hello, Yukino-chan.
Yukino: The "chan" was not required, but whatever. So, what are you doing here aside grocery shopping. Stalking older women?
Y/N: ...Why do you assume I like older women. Was it because of that one time?
Yukino: You're just being delusional.
Y/N: Well, if you must ask, Nee-san asked me to get the milk. You?
Yukino: Just picking up a few household items. Was running out of milk and tea packets.
Y/N: Hmm.
Setsuna: (pulls up with cart) Y/N, what's taking so long? (notices Yukino) Oh, hello, Yukino-chan!
Yukino: Setsuna-nee, hello.
Setsuna: So? Flirting with my otouto, I see?~
Y/N: ...Huh?
Yukino: (blushes) O-Of course not.
Setsuna: Oh come on, I'm joking. I'm only teasing. (mutters) But it would be great if you two got together.
Y/N and Yukino: Huh?
Setsuna: Nothing!~ Do you need a ride home, Yukino-chan?
Yukino: It's fine. It's only a short walk from here.
Setsuna: Nonsense! I'll take you home. We'll be waiting by the checkout station. Ta ta!~ (walks off)
Y/N: (sigh) Well, you heard her. And you know how she doesn't take any "no" for answer.
Yukino: Yes, I do. (sigh) I'll see you at the checkout station then.
Y/N: See ya.
Heading off to where his sister was, she pays for the items and they now wait for Yukino, who only comes later after about three minutes.
Getting into Setsuna's car, they drive down the road for a few minutes. Waving goodbye, Yukino leaves for her apartment. As they drove home, Setsuna was giving Y/N a smug look, much to his annoyance. The youngest L/N rolls his eyes and starts to look out the window. How did he feel whenever he was around her?
Next Day, Room 2-F
It was the next day and all the class members were doing their own usual business. Y/N and Saki were talking to each other, Hayato and his clique amongst themselves, and Hachiman listening to his music, but Saika coming over to him from time to time.
Tobe: Anyway, what should we do for Christmas?
Hina: I'll be busy getting ready for the new year.
Tobe: Yeah, but...
Saki: You guys coming over for Christmas? Kei-chan is excited.
Y/N: Yeah. Nee-san is also planning on cooking the pasta again. Nii-san and Nee-san are looking forward to seeing them again.
Saki: That's good to hear.
Yumiko: Christmas, huh? I know about Ebina, but...what about you guys?
Hayato: I'll have to pass, too.
Yumiko: H-Hayato...you have plans or something? Huh...
Over with Hachiman
Yui: Hikky...you're looking at us too much. (blushes)
Hachiman: (awkwardly) Huh? Er, I wasn't really looking...
Yui: No, you were totally looking. I was kinda freaked out, honestly.
Hachiman: You're the one who should stop looking at me.
Yui: Huh!? Oh, that was...I just sensed something, that's all. Some kind of pressure, or chill...anyway, did you need something?
Hachiman: No, it's just...you guys were drawing attention to yourselves.
???: Morning!
Yui: Oh. Morning, Sai-chan!
Hachiman: Morning.
Saika: (smiles)
Hachiman: Something wrong?
Saika: I just thought it was unusual to see you talking in the classroom.
Yui: Y-You think so?
Saika: (frowns) Did something happen?
Yui: No, nothing! Well, we were kind of talking about club stuff, I guess...
Saika: Oh, your club, huh? Well, if you guys are back to doing club work like before, that's good.
Yui: Y-Yeah...oh, hey, you can come to us if you ever need help again.
Hachiman: (grins) Nah, you know what? You can come, even if you don't need anything. (thumbs up) You're welcome anytime.
Yui: (shocked) You're motivated for once!
Saika: (laughs) Well, later. (walks off)
Yui: By the way, Hikky...let's go to club together.
Yui walks off and goes back over to Yumiko. Hachiman was confused as to why she said that. He glances over to Y/N, who was happily talking to Saki.
These days were just confusing.
Timeskip, End of Day
The school bell rings, signaling that it was the end of the day. Hachiman and Y/N head out the door first, Y/N going on ahead as Hachiman waits outside the door.
Arriving before the other two, he saw that Yukino was in the club room first, as usual. Like always, she was preparing tea for them.
Yukino: Oh, I thought you three would be coming together.
Y/N: Well, Hikigaya decided to stay after and wait for Yuigahama.
Yukino: Hmm...
Taking his normal seat, he takes out his phone and begins scrolling through social media. It wasn't until he got a YouTube notification from Nintendo.
Y/N: (thoughts) Hmm...so the One Winged Angel comes to Smash Bros., huh?
(A/N): The reveal for Sephiroth was so badass. Masahiro Sakurai must love FFVII as Cloud was wearing his Advent Children outfit for the reveal and he seemed to get a special Final Smash when used on Sephiroth himself.
Yukino: Can I ask you something?
Y/N: Hmm? What is it?
Yukino: Do you have any plans for Christmas?
Y/N: Hmm...well, the plan is to visit Kawasaki on Christmas for a dinner.
Yukino: You're not...?
Y/N: With that man? Sorry, but my siblings and I aren't planning on going if "he's" there.
Yukino: Oh...I see...
Later on, Yuigahama and Hikigaya soon arrive.
Yui: Yahello, Yukinon, L/N-san!
Y/N: (monotone) Osu.
Taking their seats, Hachiman goes to his normal spot as he reads his book while Yui begins to speak to Yukino about what happened in class.
Yui: And he said it's unusual for me and Hikky to talk in the classroom.
Y/N: It kinda is. He rarely talks to anyone. Not unless someone initiates the conversation first.
Yukino: I suppose it might be unusual.
Yui: Not really. Right, Hikky?
Hachiman: No, that was probably the first time we talked that much. It kinda tired me out.
Yui: It tired you out!?
Soon, a knocking noise was heard on the sliding door.
Yukino: Come in.
The door opens to a worried Iroha.
Iroha: Senpais! I'm in trouble!
Y/N: (sighs and mutters) So annoying...
Iroha: (wipes tears) I'm in trouble! I'm in trouble! I'm in serious trouble!
Yui had a bright smile on her face as she was happy to see someone with a request. Yukino's face was slightly irritated, as Iroha had come in requesting for Y/N's and Hachiman's help, well, not that she cared for the other boy. Hachiman and Y/N had semi-annoyed faces.
Short Timeskip
Yui: A Christmas event?
Iroha: Yeah.
Hachiman: So that's your first student council job...
Y/N: Already pushing a big project on your hands, huh?
Iroha: It's a joint thing with Kaihin General High School, and I guess we're supposed to entertain old folks and preschool kids.
Y/N: ...Who the hell came up with that idea?
Iroha: It was the other school! As if I'd ever suggest something like that!
Hachiman: I figured.
Iroha: So of course, I'd normally turn them down, you know? I have plans for Christmas, anyway.
Y/N: So...? Did you?
Yui: (sweat drops) You'd turn them down?
Hachiman: You're handling your freedom too personally.
Iroha: (pouts) But Hiratsuka-sensei is telling us to do it.
Y/N: (thoughts) I sometimes wonder what Nii-san sees in that demon lady?
Over with Itsuki
Itsuki: Achoo!
Worker: Are you okay, Itsuki-san?
Itsuki: Y-Yes. It must be the winter cold.
Worker: Are you sure? Have you went to the doctor to get a check-up?
Itsuki: I probably should. Thank you for suggesting it.
Worker: Of course, Itsuki-san. (resumes work)
Itsuki: (thoughts) Hmm...that was strange.
Back with Y/N and the others
Y/N: (thoughts) Well, I should've known she had a hand in this.
Iroha: So I got started with things, but it's just not coming together.
Hachiman: That's how it goes when you deal with other schools.
Y/N: Yeah, in group efforts like these, they don't know who would take the lead in this type of shit. Talk about a pain in the ass. Besides, don't feel bad about it.
Hachiman: Actually, you should've talked to Shiromeguri-senpai before coming here. Maybe even L/N's older sister.
Y/N: (scratches back of head) That's...probably not the best idea.
Iroha: Oh...w-well...I mean, uh...oh, yeah! I can't bother her when she's studying fir entrance exams, right?
Hachiman: (thoughts in girly voice) Um, you just don't like Meguri-senpai, right?
Iroha: You're the only ones I can turn to!
Y/N and Hachiman sigh before they turn their attention to Yukino. Soon, the other two turn their attention to her as well.
Oddly enough, she didn't make any insight in the conversation at all and she seemed to be deep in thought. In fact, she was quiet the whole entire time. Y/N waves his hand in front of her eyes, her finally taking notice that the attention was all on her.
Yukino: ...Eh? Okay...I have an idea of what's going on, but...what do you think?
Yui: Sounds good! Let's do it!
Y/N: (brings fist up unenthusiastically) Y-Yeah...
Yui: It's been a while since anyone's asked for our help, you know? We haven't done anything like this lately. So, just like before...I mean...it couldn't hurt to try...I think...
Y/N: ...I don't see the problem with it. (leans back in chair) Do what you want.
Yukino: ...Really? (smiles) I think it's fine, then.
Hachiman: No, I don't think we should mess with this. It's the student council's problem. Plus, I don't think it's a good thing to rely on other people right after you take over as president.
Y/N: Not even some friendly advice?
Hachiman: Since when was your advice friendly?
Y/N: ...Touché
Iroha: (gets out of seat) Huh!? What does that mean?
Hachiman: We're not a jack-of-all-trades service. We only help people out. Anyway, this is your job. Got it? Go on.
Iroha: I took over as president because you guys said I should! I want you to do something about this!
Y/N: What do you want me to do? I was never really good with these types of things.
And with that, Hachiman shoos Iroha away, him going outside as well.
Y/N: ...Well that just happened.
Yukino: What did she mean, "you guys said I should"?
Y/N: Oh that? That's--
He was interrupted as his phone rings. Annoyed, he picks it up.
Y/N: Hello?
Itsuki: (on phone) Y/N, can I ask you something?
Y/N: Nii-san?
Itsuki: (on phone) I'm going to be running late for home so can you check on Setsuna? Her school called me that she started to cough a lot and right now she's resting at home.
Y/N: Yeah, I can. See ya.
Itsuki: (on phone) See ya. I'll see you at home.
Y/N ends the call and he stands up, grabbing his bag in the process.
Y/N: Sorry, we'll have to continue this conversation another time.
Yui: Eh? Why?
Y/N: Nii-san called and Nee-san is sick at the moment. No one's at the apartment.
Yukino: I see.
Y/N: Yeah. See you tomorrow.
After waving goodbye, he leaves, but sees Iroha and Hachiman talking outside.
Iroha: If it's just you alone, I can use--
Y/N: Alone?
Iroha: (yelps) Senpai, don't scare me like that!
Y/N: (sigh) Whatever. If you have plans, keep me posted or something. I'm heading home to watch over my sister. See ya.
Hachiman: I'll send you the meeting location.
Y/N: Alright then.
Leaving, he immediately makes way for home. Unlocking the door to the apartment, he sees his sister's bag lying on the floor.
Walking to his sister's door, he knocks.
Setsuna: (muffled) Come in.
Y/N: (opening door) Are you feeling alright, Nee-san?
Setsuna: (coughs) I'll be fine. Just a small cold.
Y/N: Have you been getting the proper amounts of sleep?
Setsuna: Well...
Y/N: It's fine. I have to leave later today because I have to help out with something. Need anything?
Setsuna: Can I get some soup? Oh, and bring my bag over.
Y/N: Sure.
Closing the door behind him, he goes to the kitchen and gets the chicken broth. He grabs a pot and puts in the broth, starting the stove as the heat begins to conduct through on the metal pot. Y/N then begins to cut up some chicken and dice up carrots and other vegetables you'd put in chicken soup.
He then goes to the fridge, getting some water in a tea cup as he heats it up. The cup of water was then hot enough and he grabs a tea bag, putting it in for honey ginger tea. The soup was then done after about thirty minutes and he pours himself and his sister a bowl. Setting his aside, he grabs Setsuna's bag, slinging it over his shoulder and picks up the bowl of soup and the cup of tea with his free hands.
He made his way back to Setsuna's room and sets the soup and tea down on the table, putting the bag beside her on the bed.
Setsuna: Thank you.
Y/N: Well, I'll be leaving in about thirty minutes to do my thing. Call me if you need anything, okay?
Setsuna: (coughs) Will do.
Y/N: Alright then.
Y/N then heads back to the living room, grabbing his bowl of soup and begins to eat. Thirty-two minutes later, he finishes and leaves the house, his school uniform still on as he waits for the location to be sent to him.
He then receives a message from Hachiman, telling him that the meeting is at the community center.
Putting his phone away, he walks to the community center.
Timeskip-Dusk
It was now dusk and Y/N arrived at the community center. Meeting up with Hachiman and Iroha, the three of them made it down to Seminar Hall 1, where the meeting was taking place.
Iroha: Hi, everyone.
The three enter the room and on their left were the people on the Sobu High student council. In front of them, the people near the window, the two boys presumed those to be the Kaihin General students.
The students of Kaihin were happily talking to each other while Sobu's student council had frowns on their faces. Just looking at them was enough for them to show that the event hadn't made any progress at all. In a short time, the meeting then started, the president of the other school introducing himself.
Tamanawa: I'm Tamanawa, student council president of Kaihin General High School. Nice to meet you.
Hachiman: Yeah...hello.
Y/N: Hello, I guess?
Tamanawa: I'm really glad we had the chance to plan this together, as two fresh, rookie presidents. I'm hoping we can forge a partnership of mutual respect and bring about synergetic effect.
Y/N: (thoughts) Throwing a good punch right from the get-go...
Tamanawa: Iroha-chan, got a minute?
Iroha: Sure!~
The two presidents walk off and go to talk in private, Y/N and Hachiman looking to each other before they both shrug.
Kaori: Huh? Hikigaya? L/N?
The two look to see a curious Kaori Orimoto making her way over to them.
Hachiman: Hey...
Kaori: You guys are on the student council?
Y/N: No.
Kaori: Same as me, then! I'm here because my friend asked me to come...
Y/N: (looks to the side and thoughts) I didn't ask you to explain your whole story. This is such a drag.
Kaori: Huh? Wait, you guys are alone?
Hachiman: All the time, pretty much.
Y/N: Excluding my siblings, yeah.
Kaori: (laughs) What the heck? That's hilarious!
Y/N: (tilts head) Is it?
Kaori: Well, see ya.
She then makes her way back to her friends on the other side of the room.
Iroha: Senpais, there's someone here you know?
Y/N: Well, Hayama had dragged me out on a date with that girl and another, but other than that, no. Besides, you've seen her before, haven't you? Also, Hikigaya knows her.
Hachiman: Yeah, she was my classmate in middle school.
Iroha: (sly smile) Yeah? Oh, the meeting's starting. (drags Hachiman) This way, senpai.
Hachiman: Uh, I'd rather stay on the sidelines...L/N, help me here.
Y/N: Sorry, but when a girl has something set on her mind, you don't interfere. I learned that the hard way with my sister and my cousin. (thoughts) Keika can be scary sometimes. That cuteness...
Small Timeskip
Tamanawa: Okay, so just like last time, let's start by brainstorming. First on the agenda is the event concept and sharing ideas for activities.
Kaihin Student 1: Considering the demands that fall on us high school students, I believe we need to come up with some innovation befitting of young minds.
Kaihin Student 2: In that case, naturally, we need to ponder on the premise of a win-win relationship with the community.
Y/N: (thoughts) Are these guys trying to stall?
Kaihin Student 3: (snaps fingers) Then we'll probably have to think strategically in terms of cost-effectiveness.
Iroha was only nodding, a fake smile present on her face as she pretends to agree with everything.
Hachiman: (whisper) What is going on right now?
Iroha: (closed-eyed smile) Huh? No idea. The other school is making suggestions for us, I guess.
Y/N: (whisper) What the hell kind of reasoning is that?
Hachiman: Huh...
Tamanawa: Everyone, isn't there something more important to consider?
Everyone looks to him before Tamanawa starts to make movements with his hands.
Tamanawa: We should use logical thinking to think logically.
Y/N: (thoughts) Isn't that the damn point, you dumbass? Besides, those are the same things. How many times are we supposed to think?
Tamanawa: We should put ourselves in the customer's place to see from the customer's perspective.
Y/N: (thoughts) ...Those are still the same god damn thing. How many times are we going to become the customer?
Kaihin Student 1: Then we could give some thought to outsourcing.
Kaihin Student 2: With out current method, that might be tough to fit in the scheme. What do you think?
Kaihin Student 3: There's a chance it could be rescheduled, too. Shouldn't we give ourselves more of a buffer?
Y/N: (thoughts) Om my god, they're lesser Hikigaya. I'm surrounded by idiots...kill me now.
Kaihin Student 1: Oh, that's true. We should look at the whole picture.
Soon, the meeting was over and Hikigaya was drinking a canned coffee while Y/N was on his phone, checking for any new messages from his sister.
They both take a glance around the room. The Kaihin High School president was talking to Iroha. Taking a look on their left, the Sobu High student council were working on the event themselves.
Iroha: (walking up to two) Are you guys getting an idea of how it all works?
Hachiman: No, I didn't understand anything.
Iroha: Obviously not. We're surrounded by idiots.
Iroha: Yeah, they were saying some difficult stuff, huh? But when I say stuff like "Wow, I need to work hard, too," that goes over really well. Otherwise, all I really have to do is e-mail back and forth with them.
Hachiman: You're gonna get stabbed someday.
Iroha: But you're like that sometimes, too, Senpais. Like you're trying to look smart or interesting...
Y/N: Don't put us on their level.
Hachiman: I don't care about looking interesting. I'm just self-conscious.
Iroha: Huh...I don't get it. Anyway, I've worked out what we need to do, so let's start tackling it.
Hachiman: Hoh?
Iroha: What?
Y/N: (looks to Kaihin group) You seem to be getting on well enough with them.
Iroha: Yeah, I guess so. But you're the ones who taught me that younger girls trying to learn something are cute, right?
Y/N: Really? I don't remember that.
Hachiman: I didn't teach you that. But now you don't need us, do you?
Iroha: Ah...well...
A knocking was heard as Tamanawa had gotten Iroha's attention by knocking on the table.
Tamanawa: Iroha-chan, can you take care of these, too?
He was gesturing to the stacks of paper he was holding. This drew the Sobu High student council's attention. They already had enough work.
Tamanawa: Also this, and this, and this, too.
Iroha: Ah, okay.
Tamanawa: If there's anything you don't understand, let me know. I'll explain it so you can understand. (walks off)
Iroha: So as you head, getting the minutes together will be our job, too. I'm counting on all of you.
Y/N: (thoughts) With the current state, it doesn't look like the student council is functioning well. There is probably reservation between them, but that's what's hindering their communication.
Sobu High Student 1: Kaichou, is this okay?
Iroha: Oh...I'll check.
Sobu High Student 1: Also, about the way this work is progressing...
Iroha: Yes?
Sobu High Student 1: (sigh) ...Actually, never mind.
He goes back to his seat and Hachiman and Y/N stand up from theirs.
Iroha: He's the vice president.
Hachiman: Looks like you've got it rough.
Iroha: I don't think he likes me much...but that's how it always goes at first. He'll get used to me eventually.
The two look around the room and take in the general scenario at the moment. With their current pace, they wouldn't be able to get anything done.
Next Day, Seminar Hall 1
Tamanawa: Our outline of the plan hasn't completely solidified yet, so let's continue our brainstorming from yesterday.
Kaihin Student 1: As long as we're doing this, I'd like it to make it more flashy.
Kaori: Yeah! That's the thing! We should do something big, something with a real bang!
Tamanawa: Yes, we may have been pulling everything together too closely.
Hachiman: (thoughts) Huh? Really? Something was "pulled together"?
Y/N: (thoughts) The minutes don't have anything in them but "logical thinking blah blah blah."
Hachiman: (whisper) We don't know what we're supposed to do.
Iroha: Well, that's because nothing specific has been settled on yet.
Tamanawa: I think we should increase the scale. What do you think?
Iroha: Ah...you might be right.
Hachiman: (whisper) We don't have the time or personnel to increase the scale.
Tamanawa: No, no, not like that. When brainstorming, you don't reject another's opinion. "We can't make this any bigger because we lack the time and personnel." "So how should we deal with that?" We expand the discussion in that way. We mustn't come to a conclusion right away. So your opinion doesn't work.
Hachiman: O-Okay...
Y/N: (whisper) Someone kill this man. (thoughts) For all you said, you wasted no time rejecting his opinion.
Tamanawa: Let's discuss how to make it possible.
Kaihin Student 1: (raises hand) Why don't we bring in more local high schools?
Y/N: (thoughts) Why do people who want to look interesting love working with others so much?
Hachiman: (thoughts) There's no merit in bringing in more schools.
Kaihin Student 2: Sounds good. We'd be involving the community.
Kaihin Student 3: In that case, we could work toward closing generation gaps.
Hachiman: (thoughts) But a simple objection like that would be crushed.
Kaori: (thumbs up) That'll work!
Hachiman: This is just a fresh idea. As a counter to your previous suggestion, I feel it would be better to strive for maximum synergetic effect by having two schools cooperate to build a closer relationship. What do you think?
There was a brief silence before Tamanawa picks back up on the subject.
Tamanawa: I see...so it shouldn't be high school. Perhaps college students...
Hachiman: (thoughts) I didn't work!
Y/N: Then we won't be able to take initiative. Even if we did reach a consensus with our stakeholders, we need a partnership that can offer clear suggestions of a solid manifesto...
Iroha: Senpais, what are you talking about?
Y/N: (whisper) He's the one who started it. I doubt we know ourselves.
Tamanawa: That's true...
Hachiman/Iroha/Y/N: Eh?
Hachiman: (thoughts) He understood that!?
Tamanawa: Then how about a local elementary school? What do you call it? "Gameducation"? If we can make the work enjoyable, maybe we could get a local elementary school to help.
Kaihin Student 1: That'd be a win-win.
Kaori: Win-win! Yeah! That's the thing!
Hachiman: (thoughts) What's the thing?
(A/N): I tried finding a video of this clip for this funny moment. But I wasn't able to find one.
Tamanawa: If we handle the appointment and negotiation of an elementary school...if you could handle them after that, I'd appreciate it.
Y/N: (thoughts) Are you just going to put all your workload on us?
Iroha: (close-eyed smile) Good idea.
Tamanawa: What do you think?
Iroha: ...Okay, got it.
After the meeting, Y/N and Hachiman were taking a breather near the lunch area of the center. Hachiman drinking a canned coffee on the nearby sofa while Y/N stared out the window, phone in his hand.
Hachiman: You've been staring at your phone a lot.
Y/N: Nee-san is sick at the moment. She hasn't been calling or texting me.
Hachiman: Hmm.
Kaori: Yo!
The two turn around to see Orimoto walking up to them.
Kaori: We're you guys on the student council or anything in middle school? You seem used to it.
Y/N: Nope. My so-called "father" is a politician. He was very heavy on teaching us those skills but I couldn't care less.
Hachiman: I wasn't either.
Kaori: (sits next to Hachiman) Did you break up with your girlfriend?
Hachiman: What?
Kaori: I mean, it just seems like you had your sights on Isshiki-chan.
Y/N: She's just a kouhai from our school. And Haruno-nee just likes to mess with people.
Kaori: You know her?
Y/N: Our family is friends with her. Furthermore, my sister is her best friend.
Iroha could then be seen walking out of the center. Y/N continued to stare on before he got a phone call.
Seeing it was his sister, he leaves immediately and runs back home.
Back with Hachiman and Kaori
Hachiman: Anyway, I couldn't have broken up. I've never had a girlfriend.
Kaori: Really? I thought you were going out with one of those two girls.
Hachiman: Which two girls?
Kaori: You know, the ones who showed up on that date.
Hachiman: They're just...in the same club as me. Besides, one of the has their sights set on L/N, but he has his own problems that he can't see it.
Kaori: Hmm. You're in a club? Which one?
Hachiman: The Service Club.
Kaori: (bursts out laughing) What is that? I don't get it! That's hilarious!
Hachiman: No, it's not.
Kaori: Seriously, what does that club do? That's my first "seriously" of the day! I've never heard of the Service Club before!
Hachiman: (thoughts) Yeah, it is a club that doesn't make much sense. But it's not funny. There's really nothing to laugh about.
Back with Y/N
Currently, Y/N was running up the steps of the apartment complex before coming to the door to his and his siblings.
Upon putting his hand on the handle, it was already unlocked. His eyes widen. Opening the door slowly, he finds his sister collapsed onto the floor.
Y/N: Nee-san! Setsuna-nee, wake up!
Desperately, he continues to shake the older girl, the only thing heard was small groaning. For the first time in a long time, Y/N was scared for one of his family members. He didn't want a repeat of back then.
