Chapter 1: The Service Club

Sobu High School. Filled with your run of the mill teenagers. Rich kids, delinquents, loners, the cheerful students, all of the above.

Back to the loner category, there's two students that fit these categories. Hachiman Hikigaya and Y/N L/N. But, we're here to focus on Y/N L/N. You're typical rich kid. He has money, obviously, the looks, and some sort of professional atmosphere to him. Then again, his father and mother are well known. His father would handle political affairs and what not, but this was something that Y/N couldn't care about.

His father was rarely home so the only ones he would talk to were the various butlers and maids that were in his home as well as his mother when she wasn't at work and his siblings. His mother was a famous model actually. Sarashiki L/N was her name. Apart from being a model, she was an actress at time or does some voice work for anime and other rolls, but most people know her for her model work. His brother, Itsuki decided not to follow the path his father had made and decided to become an engineer, with a job somewhere in Chiba. His sister, Setsuna. was in college right now, studying to be a writer of sorts. Whether it be plays, books, whatever. As long as she got to write.

Y/N was a lively kid back then. His family was good friends with the Yukinoshita's and the Hayama's. He met the kids of the families in his youth. He saw Haruno Yukinoshita as another older sister. Itsuki was never around most of the time and the only time he was ever home was during certain events and holidays. Setsuna was there, but she never really got to spend time with her little brother. Hayato Hayama was someone he considered his best friend at the time. And then there was the ice cold beauty, Yukino Yukinoshita. Sure, Y/N could consider her a friend, but they only talked to each other when they had the chance which were usually at times when their families would come together for dinners.

Anyway, Y/N was a lively kid back then, but that all changed when his mother was mugged on their way back home from a vacation trip. The poor child was left alone that night as he watched his mother be gunned down and taking her pearl necklace. Hours later, the police came by and questioned Y/N and made sure he was alright. But Y/N never responded. Never said a word. On the inside, he was hurting so much. His mother brought light to him and he had the motivation to essentially "do things in life." His father never cared about him and only focused on his work. He never even bothered to come to the funeral of his wife using his work as an excuse. Y/N's brother had rushed down from his high school and rushed to his brother's side. His older sister, in middle school, found him and was a "broken" individual, you could say. At their mother's funeral, he clung to his sister's side, which the older sister does her best to console her younger brother. His older brother held the umbrella as it rained and put a hand on his shoulder.

(A/N): The older sister, Setsuna, is about the same age of Haruno in present day. Your older brother in the story is about early or mid-twenties.

From then on, Y/N would live with his siblings in a nice apartment complex. The three essentially only looked out for themselves since their father never cared for them. What would happen when a certain ice queen sees him after so long?

Present Day, Sobu High School

(A/N): This is what you look like btw. He just look good. Yuichiro Hyakuya from Owari no Seraph for those of you who don't know. You wear the hoodie over the school uniform, and the hoodie is left open.

Y/N L/N, a lone teenager about the age of sixteen is walking through the halls of Sobu High School after leaving his classroom, 2-F. Called to the teacher's lounge by Shizuka Hiratsuka, his Modern Japanese language teacher. He didn't understand why he was called up to the teacher's lounge. He had good grades in all of his subjects, but never really cared. He only cared about doing good in school as his late mother would congratulate him when he got good scores at his school.

As he walked there, he could hear the murmurs of the other students as he walked on by.

Girl 1: (gasp) Isn't that L/N?

Girl 2: It is! He's so hot!

Girl 3: I wonder if he's single?

Guy 1: Tch. Look at this guy...prick.

Guy 2: What did he ever do to you?

Guy 1: Whatever.

Guy 3: Somebody's jealous.

Guy 1: Fuck off asshole.

Y/N gets out of earshot and scoffs at this. Right now, he wasn't interested in a relationship and didn't really care what the others thought. He only cared about the opinions if his mother, sister, and brother, as well as his close friends. But he's rarely in contact with his friends and stuck to being a loner.

He arrived at the teacher's lounge and opened the doors and saw there was another guy. Eyes dead like a fish, black hair with black eyes. He sorta knew who this was. Hachiman Hikigaya was his name. He only knew him as he was in the same class as him during gym. In Hiratsuka-sensei's hands was a paper. An essay of some sorts.

Hiratsuka: "You go and freaking die." Look, Hikigaya. What did I tell you to write about in my class?

Hachiman: Well...an essay looking back on your time in high school.

Hiratsuka: (irritated) So why did you write this contemptful composition? What the hell is this? How did it turn into this?

Hachiman: Well...

Hiratsuka: Dammit. (looks at Hachiman) Your eyes are like a dead fish's.

Hachiman: (smug) Do I look that chock full of DHA? I must be pretty smart.

Hiratsuka: (tick mark) So you're getting smart with me?

Hachiman: (panics) Well, I did look back on my time in high school. Isn't this what high school life ish like theshe daysh?

Hiratsuka: (rubs temple) Frivolous defense, kid.

Hachiman: Kid? Well, I guess when you're your age, I am a kid--

Hikigaya was interrupted as Shizuka had shot up from her seat and punched the air right next to his face. Clearly angered about the fact that he mentioned her age.

Hiratsuka: (malicious aura) Didn't anyone ever teach you not to bring up a woman's age?

Hachiman: (gulps) I'm sorry. I'll rewrite--

He stops and pauses as Hiratsuka-sensei was in a thinking position and noticed Y/N behind Hachiman.

Hiratsuka: Oh, L/N. Didn't see you there.

Y/N: I'm here. (yawn) Can we hurry this up so I can go home?

Hiratsuka: (mutters) Tsk. Another annoying kid.

Y/N: Hmm?

Hiratsuka: (smirks) Never mind that. You two, come with me a minute.

The two boys glance at each other. Y/N having an uninterested look as always while Hachiman was just confused. They followed her out of the room, heading to an empty classroom.

Inside, Hiratsuka-sensei opens the door and the two boys peer into it. It was a normal classroom. Just some tables and chairs stacked up against the walls near the windows. Some boxes were stacked up in the corner. They looked to the current occupant in the room and Y/N saw her flowing black hair, waving with the wind. His eyes widen a little before relaxing a bit. Someone from his childhood was here. Yukino Yukinoshita was her name. The Ice Queen of Sobu High School.

Yukino: (notices Shizuka) Hiratsuka-sensei. I believe I told you to knock before you came in.

Hiratsuka: I used to knock, but you never answered me.

Yukino: Because you came in before I could answer. So? Who's that person staring off into space?

Hachiman knew who this girl was. Both of them knew. Y/N knew her only because of their families being good friends, but almost everyone know who she is as she is a very popular girl in the school.

Hiratsuka: There's two of them here. Anyway, these two are looking for a club to join.

Hachiman: (rubs back of head) Huh? Oh, Hachiman Hikigaya from class 2-F. Um...hey, what's this about joining a club?

Hiratsuka: And the other is--

Yukino: Y/N L/N from class 2-F. Been awhile.

Y/N: (shrugs) I guess.

Hiratsuka: (to Hikigaya) Your punishment for writing that contemptful crap is joining this club. Refusals, objections, protests, questions, and any possible forms of appeal will not be accepted. Anyway, you can probably tell at a glance that his personality's as rotten as his eyes.  As a result, he's a lonely and pitiful creature. Fix his rebellion and loner-prone personality in this club. Y/N? I don't know...he's kind of in the same boat as Hikigaya here.

Y/N: I never asked to be here.

Hiratsuka: Any sort of refusal is--

Y/N: Yeah, yeah, whatever. Your going to make me join this club anyway.

Seeing as there was no way of refusing such an order, he grabs a chair and sets it near the window. Sitting down, he gazes out of it with his hand propped up on his knee, supporting his head as he rests his head on the propped hand.

Yukino tilts her head in confusion. Y/N was a lot more lively than this and wasn't that monotone in his responses. What she didn't know was what happened back then. From what Y/N was told, his siblings never told his friends about what happened that day and he preferred it that way. Yukino pushes her thoughts aside and resumes her attention back to Hiratsuka-sensei.

Hiratsuka: Wow, that was fast. Anyway, that is my request.

Yukino: I respectfully decline. (looks to Hikigaya) I see danger to my person in those vulgar eyes looking at me full of ulterior motives.

Hachiman: (thoughts) I'm not looking at you, and especially not that ever-so-modest chest of yours. Hey, I'm being honest here.

Hiratsuka: Okay...? What about L/N here?

Yukino: He's not going to do anything brash. If anything, he looks bored out of his mind.

Y/N: So tired...I just wanna go home...

Hiratsuka: Don't worry. This guy's risk-return calculations and self-preservation mechanisms are actually pretty good. He wouldn't do anything punishable by law. You can trust in his petty criminal nature.

Hachiman: Hey, couldn't you call it my "ability to make rational decisions?"

Yukino: Petty criminal? I see.

Hachiman: (thoughts) She's not listening to me, and she's actually convinced.

Yukino: (sigh) Well, I can't exactly refuse a request from you. I accept.

Hiratsuka: (smiles) Great. (turns around to leave) Well, I'm counting on you, Yukinoshita.

Walking out of the room, Hachiman was confused, Yukino goes back to her book, and Y/N took out his phone and plugged in his headphones, listening to an artist called Galileo Galilei with a song labeled, Aoi Shiori. Hikigaya looks around the room for a moment.

Hachiman: (thoughts) Hey, man, you can't be serious. What's up with this?

Flashback, Hikigaya's Memories

Hachiman: (thoughts) I recalled a bittersweet memory from my past.

The scene changes to one of the old movies it did. The sound of a tape reel could be heard in the background and the scene showed to the setting of a middle school classroom, at the time of dawn to be exact.

It shows Hikigaya bowing and extending his hand out to a girl with medium to short hair. She had a face of disinterest, knowing not what to do in this situation. She looks to the side slightly and sweat drops, and gives her answer.

Girl: Can we start by being friends?

Hachiman then felt like his whole world came crashing down as the scene changed, him still doing the same position, standing in a black void.

Hachiman: (thoughts) "Friends." But we never talked again after that.

Flashback End

Hachiman then turns around and scowls at the two behind him.

Hachiman: (thoughts) Well, I know perfectly well that romance comedies do not happen. I'm one of the few and the proud. I can't possibly fall for a romantic comedy trap like this. If anything, these two are most likely to get together. Girls are only interested in hot guys and engage in indecent relations with men. They are my enemies.

Then, the same words echo back into his mind. "Can we start by being friends?"

Hachiman: (thoughts) The fastest way to avoid that from ever happening again is to make her hate me. Instead of offering a pleasant greeting, I will intimidate Yukinoshita.

Hikigaya turns around and glares at Yukino, letting out an aggravated sound at the same time.

Yukino returns the gesture with an ice-cold stare who immediately turns around, halting their little stare down.

Y/N: What are you doing?

Hachiman: Huh?

Y/N: You like an idiot by standing there. At least sit down.

Hachiman: (looks around room) Huh? Oh, right. Sorry.

Yukino: Since when were you blunt with your statements?

Y/N: I'm just speaking the truth.

Yukino: I suppose...he did look an idiot.

Hachiman: (mutters) You two were made for each other.

Yukino and Y/N: Hmm?

Hachiman: Nothing...

Yukino: Got something to say?

Hachiman: No, I just don't really know what's going on. What club is this anyway?

Yukino: (looks to Hachiman) ...Try guessing.

Hachiman: ...The Literature Club.

Yukino: Oh? What led you to that?

Hachiman: This room is not in a special environment and has no special equipment. Furthermore, you've been reading a book for as long as I've been here.

Yukino: Wrong.

Hachiman: What club is it then?

Yukino: Do you know Y/N?

Y/N: Don't really care. I was forced to join anyway.

Yukino: Anyway, what we are doing right here and now is part of the club's activities.

Hachiman: I give up. I don't have a clue.

Y/N: (sigh) How many years has it been since you've talked to a girl?

Flashback, Hikigaya's Memories

Hachiman: (thoughts) If my memory serves, it was two years ago in June.

The scene changes to a middle school environment in the month of June. The sun was shining and there were lush green plants around.

Girl: Wow, it's so freaking hot.

Hachiman: It's so freaking hot, it's freaky.

The girl stares at Hikigaya, with the said boy not knowing that she wasn't talking to him, with a strange look on her face. Hikigaya realizes that the girl wasn't speaking to him, he instantly regrets the action he did.

Girl: Huh? Uh...yeah...

The scene then changes to Hachiman's bedroom, him hiding under his covers, squirming around and making excessive noises.

Flashback End

Yukino: Those who are blessed give to those who are less fortunate out of the goodness of their hearts. People call this "community service." To reach out and help those who are in need. That is what this club does. Welcome to the Service Club. We welcome you. I've received a request. Thus I will fulfill it. I will fix your problem. Both of you. Be grateful.

Y/N: Yeah, yeah...

Hachiman: Bitch, please. Problem? Listen, you. I'm actually doing pretty good for myself. I got the third highest score in our year in Japanese. I've got a pretty good face too.

Y/N: I'm pretty sure good looks are a curse.

Hachiman: Apart from not having friends or a girlfriend, I'm high-caliber!

Y/N: Hmm...is that so?

Yukino: Being able to say that with full confidence does make you amazing, in a sense.

Y/N: And I thought you don't encourage this type of behavior?

Yukino: I don't. (looks back to Hachiman) Weird boy. In fact, you're disgusting.

Hachiman: Shut up. I don't want you calling me that, weird girl.

Y/N: Are you sure you're not the weirdest one out of all in this room?

Hachiman: I don't want to hear it from you either.

Yukino: Based on what you've said, it seems that you're a loner because of your rotten personality and sour attitude. Y/N, your a loner as you just don't feel like talking to people.

Y/N: I guess. Life is so boring now. Nothing interesting happens anymore. (whisper) Not after "that" day happened...

Yukinoshita tilts her head. She could hear the whisper of what he said, but what did he mean "that day?" Judging from the tone of his voice, Yukino concluded that it was something very touchy. A subject that shouldn't be talked about. She was not one to pry secrets, but it did intrigue her interests just a bit.

Knowing she wouldn't get much out of Y/N, she resumed her attention back to Hachiman.

Yukino: Also, as for your appearance, aesthetics are purely subjective. In other words, in this situation, whatever I say is the truth.

Hachiman: Th-That's one hell of a messed up idea, but I get the feeling it's logically sound.

Y/N: Better get used to it as this is how she always acts. It's sometimes scary to be honest.

Yukino: Is that so? I didn't know that the "mighty" Y/N L/N was feared by my intellectual logic and skills.

Y/N: Who said I was scared? I just stated that the way you act can be scary, but it doesn't necessarily scare me.

Yukino: (runs hand through own hair) Okay. That conversation should be enough practice conversation for you.

Hachiman: Huh!?

Yukino: I believe that if you could hold a conversation with a girl like me, you can hold a conversation with most people. Do you feel rehabilitated?

Hachiman: Just so you know, it's not like that I can't hold a conversation with someone.

Y/N: Can you? Please don't tell me that it's your family.

Hachiman: ...

Y/N: Oh my god.

Yukino: Don't act like you can't hold a conversation either Y/N.

Y/N: I can hold a conversation with other people. I just choose not to.

Yukino: Because your a loner?

Y/N: Yeah...that. That and I'm bored out of my mind. Nothing in this world is ever interesting so what's the point of living out this so called youth.

Hachiman: As I was saying, I just don't hold pointless conversations. I definitely don't need any stupid rehabilitation.

Yukino: It may even be bad for society if you don't change.

Y/N: (scoffs) Change. Yeah...sure. I sure as hell changed. It didn't do me any good. Perhaps it's best if he stayed the same.

Before the two could reply at his remark, the sliding door opens and three put their attention to Hiratsuka-sensei who was coming in.

Hiratsuka: Yukinoshita, I'm coming in.

Yukino: Please knock.

Hiratsuka: Sorry, sorry. Looks like you're having trouble rehabilitating both Hikigaya and L/N here.

Yukino: It's because they don't recognize their problems. Y/N probably does, but chooses to ignore it and prefers to remain a loner.

Hachiman: That's not what it is. What's with all this telling me to change? I don't want anyone telling me who to be.

Yukino: That's what we call "running away."

Hachiman: But changing would be "running away from the current situation," wouldn't it? Why can't you just accept who someone is now and was in the past?

Yukino: (clenches fists) Because then...because then no worries would get resolved.

Y/N: Perhaps not changing would be the best. It sure didn't help me.

Yukino: But no one would be saved!

Y/N: Perhaps it's for the best. Not everyone can change, Yukinoshita. Just accept it.

Yukino: (thoughts) He...didn't...use my name...

Hiratsuka: Calm down, you three. (clears throat) Ever since ancient times, when the beliefs of multiple parties conflict, a contest decides who's right. That's what shounen manga teaches you.

Y/N: Sensei, this is real life. Not a manga. Two completely different things.

Hachiman: What are you talking about?

Hiratsuka: In other words, in this club, you'll have a contest to see who can serve someone better!

Y/N: You can count me out. It's too boring.

Yukino: Is complaining all your going to do?

Y/N: If it makes me feel better, then yes. Who knows? (yawn) Wake me up when it's time to go.

Before they all could reply, the L/N simply falls asleep in his chair. His behavior was quite strange to be honest. Especially for Yukino. As youngin', Y/N was very talkative. It was like he was the only person Yukino could talk to when she had a problem.

Looking at him now, it was as if he was a different person. One thing ran through her mind.

Yukino: (thoughts) Y/N L/N...what happened to you?

Hiratsuka: Anyway, the winner can order the loser to do anything they want! How's that sound?

Y/N: (yawns) Jesus christ, y'all are too loud that I can't even sleep. (mutters) Dammit...

Hiratsuka: Oh, L/N. Finally awake.

Y/N: Yeah. (yawn) What's this about a contest? The winner can order the losers to do whatever they want?

Hiratsuka: Well, yeah.

Yukino: I respectfully decline. (looks to Hachiman) I see danger to my person in such a contest.

Hachiman: I call prejudice! High school boys think of things other than indecent situations! (thoughts) Like...world peace? I can't think of anything else though.

Y/N: That's all high school boys think of. Well...except me.

Hiratsuka: Well, what are you doing right now?

Y/N: When I can leave and when's the best time to sleep. Plus, I'm bored. So bored that I can't even sleep to pass the time.

Hiratsuka: (clears throat) So even the great Yukino Yukinoshita has things she fears? So your victory's that uncertain?

Yukino: Fine. While I'm not particularly enthused to accept such cheap provocation, I accept.

Hiratsuka: It's settled then.

Y/N: We done here? Can I finally go home?

Hiratsuka: School is still in session.

Y/N: Tsk. I'll just go to the classroom. See ya.

Y/N then stands up from his chair and heads back to class 2-F. Soon, the school day ends and he heads to the Service Club's room. Hachiman stops in front, nervous as to what to expect. The other simply opens the door and sat in the chair near the window, not acknowledging the presence of Yukino.

Soon after, Hachiman walks in and sat in his respective chair, unsure of what to do.

Yukino: Hello.

Y/N: Osu...

Yukino: I thought you two weren't coming again?

Y/N: Can't really escape when Hiratsuka-sensei is constantly on the prowl.

Yukino: ...I guess your right. (flips page of book) Anyway, are you a masochist?

Hachiman: No...

Yukino: Then a stalker?

Hachiman: Why are you assuming that I even like you as a person?

Yukino: You don't?

Y/N: How can anyone really when you put on an ice-cold exterior and your blunt with your opinions and statements.

Hachiman: He's not wrong. Besides, your overconfidence is enough to even creep me out. And seriously, do you even have friends?

Yukino: There's Y/N.

Hachiman: Seriously?

Y/N: I guess. Do you have friends?

Yukino: Then again, define the limits of how close and distant one must to be a friend--

Hachiman: Stop right there. That's a line that only people who don't have friends would say. I'm the source on that. You look like the type people'd be all over, but you don't have any friends? What's up with that?

Yukino: ...You'd never be able to understand. I've always been cute. Most boys who came near me came to like me.

Y/N glances at Yukino, taking in her facial features. Sure it had been awhile since they last saw each other, but he could confirm that she did indeed look cute.

Hachiman: People like you, but you still call yourself a loner? You're a complete disgrace to loners everywhere.

Yukino: Maybe it would have been nice if everyone came to like me.

Hachiman: Huh? What do you mean?

Yukino: When I was in elementary school, my indoor shoes were hidden sixty times. Of those fifty times were done by girls. As a result, I had to bring my indoor shoes and my recorder home with me every day.

Y/N was slightly shocked at this new information. Y/N remembered that she left for the US to study for elementary. Same with Hayama. Sure she was cute, but he didn't know it was that serious.

(A/N): In the light novel, it is said that Yukino studied overseas with Hayama in the US.

Hachiman: Sounds pretty horrible.

Yukino: Yes it was terrible. And it was because I'm cute. But there's nothing I can do about that. No one's perfect.

Y/N: When was anyone ever perfect. Everyone's weak and unsightly.

Yukino: They grow jealous and try to kick each other down all too easily. Strangely enough, the greater the man, the more he suffers. Isn't that wrong? That's why I'm going to change it all. People and this world.

Hachiman: You're putting efforts in a very wrong direction.

Yukino: I still think it's better than sulking, shriveling, and dying like you, or just not talking to anyone and distancing yourself at all.

She directed that comment towards Y/N, who shifted slightly in his seat, but brushed the comment off and continued looking out the window.

Yukino: I hate how you accept and affirm to weakness.

Y/N: (mutters) Whatever. My problems are my own.

Y/N was about to close his eyes until he hears the door open. They all look towards the door and saw and orange haired girl, looking quite confused as to where she is.

???: E-Excuse me. Hiratsuka-sensei told me to come here.

She glances and the first person she sees is Hachiman.

???: Wh-Why the hell is Hikky here!?

Y/N: H-Hikky...?

???: (notices Y/N) Ah! L/N-san is also here!

Y/N: Uh...huh...?

Hachiman: Well...we're kinda members here.

Yukino: (stands up from chair) You're Yui Yuigahama-san from class 2-F, aren't you?

Y/N: Oh...the dumb girl.

Yui: Huh!? Who are you calling dumb!?

Yukino: (sigh) Just have a seat.

Yui removes her focus off the green eyed boy and focuses on Yukino. She instantly brightens up and grabs a chair, putting it near Yukino.

Yui: You know who I am?

Hachiman: I bet you know everyone in this school.

Y/N: She didn't know you.

Yukino: He is right on that note.

Hachiman: I see.

Yukino and Y/N: You don't need to take it badly.

Yukino: It's my own weakness for wanting to avert my eyes from the fact that you even exist.

Y/N: And I don't give a damn.

Hachiman: Is that supposed to be consolation for me?

Yukino: No, sarcasm.

Yui: Like...(smiles brightly) This club looks like a lot of fun!

Y/N: (thoughts) When was anything fun? Your bound to get bored of it anyway.

Yui: And I can't believe that Hikky and L/N-san are talking!

Hachiman: Huh?

Y/N: Hmm?

Yui: (waves hands frantically) No, I mean...you guys are completely different here from when you're in class. And like, the way Hikky acts in class, like, totally gross. L/N-san just sits there, like, looking bored.

Hachiman and Y/N: Freaking bitch.

Yui: What!? Who's a bitch!? I'm still a vir--

She stops completely as she didn't want anyone to know she's a virgin.

Yui: I never said that!

Yukino: It's nothing to be ashamed of. At our age, being a vir--

Yui: Wwwhhaaa! What are you saying!? Still in high school!? That's totally embarrassing! Yukinoshita-san, you sure you've got enough girl power!?

Yukino: What a worthless sense of value.

Hachiman: And saying "girl power" makes you sound like a total bitch.

Yui: You said it again! Calling people bitches is just wrong! Hikky, your totally gross!

Hachiman: Calling people bitches and how gross I am is unrelated.

Y/N: He's got a point.

Hachiman: And stop calling me Hikky, bitch.

Yui: (blushes furiously) Just shut up! You're gross! Like, totally wrong!

Yui's request was to bake cookies as she wanted to hand someone handmade cookies. It was a bit of an odd request, but the Service Club accepted it nonetheless. They were currently in a classroom full of kitchen utensils. The others were baking, Yukino and Yui while Hachiman was simply tasting them.

Y/N on the other hand was simply sitting in a chair, staring out the window like there's nothing to do.

Through so many tries, and following the steps of Yukino's instructions, it seemed that Yui kept messing up. Even if Y/N or Hikigaya were to eat Yui's cookies, it looked as if they were going to die if they ate it as it was somehow burnt, despite Yui following all the steps Yukino had instructed for her to do.

Hachiman then asks the girls to leave the room. They do so and Y/N sees that Hikigaya had a grin on his face.

Y/N: What are you doing?

Hachiman: Showing her it doesn't matter that if her cookies were bad. It's the thought that counts.

Y/N: Hmm...never thought you would actually try to help people.

Hachiman: Sh-Shut up! I don't want to hear it from you!

Y/N: Whatever.

After ten minutes, Yui and Yukino come back to find burnt cookies on a plate. They taste it, but it was essentially the same, them unknowing it was actually Yui's cookies.

Yukino: These are your "real handmade cookies?" Y/N, why didn't you stop him?

Y/N: He already had a plan going so I thought, why not just let him go with it?

Yui: They don't taste very good.

Hachiman: Oh, okay. Sorry, I'll throw them out.

Yui: W-Wait! You don't need to throw them out. (eats cookie) They're really not that bad.

Hachiman: By the way, these are your cookies.

Yui: Huh? What do you mean?

Hachiman: This is about a friend of a friend.

Y/N: Why do I feel as this story is actually about you?

Hachiman: Shut up! (clears throat) As I was saying, this is about a friend of a friend.

Flashback, Hikigaya's Memories

Hachiman: There was a girl who would talk to him whenever anything happened. "She's definitely into me!" I thoug--I mean, he thought.

Y/N: (interrupts story) So this is about you.

Hachiman: Shut up! You're not getting the point. (resumes story) So one day, he decided to ask her.

Hachiman: T-Tell me who you like. Just his first initial is fine.

Girl: Huh!? Well... H...

Hachiman: H? Is that me?

Girl: (deadpan) Huh? Why'd you think that? That's totally gross. Quit it, could you?

The scene then changes to Hikigaya staring in front of a chalkboard, it displaying a bunch of writing. It was basically ridiculing him.

Flashback End

Yukino: Wait one second. Based on your experience--

Hachiman: Hey! It's a friend of a friend!

Y/N: Nope. It was definitely about you.

Yukino: (waves it off) So what are we supposed to learn from that?

Hachiman: Well, basically, you know, guys are simple creatures. They get the wrong idea from just getting talked to. They'd be happy just getting handmade cookies. They don't need to taste good.

Yui: They don't taste good? Sh-Shut up! (tosses a variety of things)

Hachiman: (dodges) Well, don't you think a guy might feel moved if they saw you tried your best?

Yukino: Is that how it works?

Yui: Would you feel moved, Hikky?

Hachiman: Huh? Oh, yeah. I'd be totally moved. And don't call me Hikky.

Yukino: What will you do, Yuigahama-san?

Yui: I'll try doing it myself. Thanks a lot, Yukinoshita-san.

After the school day ended, Y/N walked towards the front gate. As he walked towards the front gate, Yukino was standing in front.

He goes to walk past her, trying not to acknowledge her existence, but she was fed up with it and grabs him by the uniform's collar.

Yukino: Wait.

Y/N: What do you want?

Yukino: What happened to you? What happened to the person I can always come to when I had a problem?

Y/N: Don't know. Guess he died that day.

Yukino: What day!? Tell me!?

The black haired boy only stares at her with a bored look while Yukino can only keep hold of him with desperation. He slowly removes her hands away from his shoulders and puts them beside her.

Y/N: Why should I tell you? After all, you left when I needed to talk to you most.

Yukino: Huh? What are you talking about?

Y/N: Nothing. See you tomorrow, I guess.

The black haired boy walks home, leaving Yukino stunned. He normally wouldn't brush her off like that. She was shocked.

What could she do. The only thing that she did was go home.
