Johnny's POV
I was spending the night at Pony's house today after he popped a curious question. He wanted me to come over for a good reason. I had no idea what was to follow, but I knew excitement was thumping in my chest.

Currently, I am sitting on his couch, listening to him read. Golly, he's stunning. It was deep into the evening, and my eyes felt a little heavy.

"Hey Johnny, you wanna go to bed?"

"Sure Pone,"

"Want me to pick you up?" Ponyboy raised a hand out. My ears and stomach went hot. He wasn't really asking me that, was he? Of course he was, stop kidding around. I started to wonder what made me so hesitant. Something shy in me was no longer there when Ponyboy was around, something that I hid away couldn't hide itself, and it was like my body wasn't allowed to be afraid.

He blinked and smiled, and gosh darn it, it was nothing like before. Those eyes, those determined eyes that were trying to look for some way to convince me. This kid was prominently charming in my eyes, and I couldn't really find myself knowing why.

A snicker coming out of me when I realized how quick I nodded and how fast-paced my heart grew. "Okay."

-

"Johnny,"

There was movement in the sheets, probably from the both of us. I felt the thick warmth of the bed and when I opened my eyes, the circulating darkness began to ride on my sleepiness. "Did I fall asleep?" I wondered, sitting my back against the headboard.

"Only for a little." Pony chuckled, "You want some pajamas?"

I gave a shake of my head, removing my denim jacket and dark top. "No, it's okay Pony." There was a shoulder touching my arm, and soon enough I could feel his eyes on mine. "Is this alright?"

He nodded, scooting forward and tossing off his shirt in a slinging motion. Ponyboy crawled down slowly to meet my arms, leaning his head adjacent to my shoulder, the back of his meek hand by my chest.

Suddenly I knew I shouldn't care; I was tired, we both were, but he was so quiet. "Everything okay?"

Something wanted to fall from his lips, but as I focused on his face I knew he might have just been falling asleep. "Yeah, I just missed you... y'know, when you went to Texas with Dal. Two-Bit was definitely proud of his new boots when he got back."

A small, unwavering smile crossed my face. "He was as happy as a child." I took a light laugh. "You ever give him Converse again, he's gonna go running back to Texas."

Pony smiled with amused eyes, but his smile went exhausted as his eyes shut, and he breathed carefully. "You ever think about going back?"

Something hit me. It wasn't like a physical realization, it was more like some type of emotional thing that I could totally give without saying anything at all to Ponyboy. "No..." I knew immediately what he meant. "Why leave?"

"Your parents wouldn't care, would they? You always say that. Also, you would think for yourself outside of this town, and you wouldn't have to stick to some affiliation of delinquent kids... especially me."

"They might not care if I leave." I said, inching my head up from shock, "But I care, and I know that you would care if I left. I know that the whole gang would all care." His eyes opened, meeting mine with a gem-like resemblance, like he wanted to say something else but he knew it wouldn't be right. I joined my hand with his, pressing our palms together.

"C'mere Johnnycakes," he brought me into an embrace, racing a hand up the nape of my neck to keep me in.

I tightened my arms around Ponyboy, around his bare skin. Everything collided, and suddenly this moment was like a piece of clarity. "I missed you." I murmured.

Pony nuzzled into my neck, while I felt something hot in the pit of my stomach as it crawled up my ears and sent chills down my spine. "Then why don't you stay?" he whispered.

I leaned close to his forehead, laying an airy peck by his hairline and brushing the wisps back. "Only if you let me."

Ponyboy's POV
The morning light flooded over my eyes. Johnny was breathing like a flower in my arms, his body close to mine without a muscle's hesitation.

The air was hot in the room, and somehow we managed to push the sheets off of our legs bearing faint sweat.

My fingers rolled over Johnny's shoulder as he laid angelically in slumber. I didn't bother to wake him; for what? I knew the two of us had undergone some kind of trance of emotion last night before we fell asleep, but I was in complete awe.

"Pone..." he voiced in a soft puff of air, stretching and pushing to lay on his back. I caressed the length of his bangs and pushed them out of his face. Golly, he had fine, flushed skin. I remembered the look in his eyes last night. I had seen his vulnerable eyes before, so gentle inside and yet so toughened on the exterior.

"Oh, morning, dear." I murmured close to his ear, stroking his shoulder and the soft skin at his cheek.

He stifled a laugh, patting my hand. "How long have you been up, huh?"

"Oh, a few hours." I noted with sarcasm, "Obviously I was protecting you from any outside harm."

"You sound like a prince." Johnny said, pulling his body off of the bed.

"I could be your prince." I retorted and handed him a clean shirt, getting to my rear at the edge of the bed and ogling up at Johnny. "Would you let me?"

"Then I request a serenade." the corner of his lips tilted up. I laughed a bit, mesmerized as he audibly hummed and fixed his hair in the bathroom mirror.

"A serenade." I muttered, rushing over to the dusty record player by my desk. The warm colors of records were dripping out of a box underneath, and I pulled on one of the covers, laying the dish in to play.

Johnny sent me a peppy look with a slight shadow of confusion. "What..." he stopped for words, his lips smiling warmly as I asked for his hand. "Yes." his eyes livened.

I know you, I walked with you once upon a dream

I do the favor of swaying us softly along with the music.

I know you, that look in your eyes is so familiar a gleam

Johnny let go of his confused state, moving with me.

And I know it's true that visions are seldom all they seem

His arms scarfed around my neck, his palms holding the back of my shoulders. I was starting to lighten us into a slower sway as his forehead came close to mine.

But if I know you, I know what you'll do

"So you missed me, huh?" Johnny gave a light whisper. "You... really care..."

You'll love me at once, they way you did once upon a dream

"Is it obvious?" I genuinely laughed.

But if I know you, I know what you'll do

The grin on my face was slowly wearing off as I heard a few sniffles from Johnny.

You'll love me at once, the way you did once upon a dream

"Johnny?"

I know you, I walked with you once upon a dream

"We're just kids now, but..." he gave a weakened sigh, tears blossoming from his big eyes. "I'm all in it with you."

I know you, that gleam in your eyes is so familiar a gleam

"I love you too."

But if I know you, I know what you'll do

A smile pulled at his lips.

You'll love me at once, the way you did once upon a dream

Johnny gazed at me like he had found something, like something lost had been recovered, with his hands holding my shoulders. In the moment, I would have said something to get our minds off of the silence. But the silence wasn't menacing, in fact, I didn't want to escape away from the silence, I was giddy, and I didn't want to let him go.

My heart raced in the split-second changes of our postures. I wiped at his tears as he batted his eyelashes as if to fan away the remnants.

Johnny inclined in, driving his lips into mine so warmly that our spilling feelings showed. His eyebrows furrowed in passion, and he tightened his grasp as my hands curled on his sides.

I know you, I walked with you once upon a dream

Our noses bumped, and I gave a light peck on his bottom lip before breaking away. Johnny gave a momentary smirk as I pecked him again. He tugged gently on my arms, and the roles reversed when he pressed on my lips, contented to find that I would do the same.

He laughed softly and brushed out, "Can't really shake off that kiss, now can we?"

I know you that gleam in your eyes is so familiar a gleam

"No. Seems like we can't." I supposed, flushed a good amount. "Any solutions?"

And I know it's true that visions are seldom all they seem

He put a hand on my cheek, stroking the hair by my ears softly. "We could keep dancing."

But if I know you, I know what you'll do

"We should keep dancing." I concurred, bringing us to sway to the alternating rhythm again. "Good idea."

You'll love me at once, the way you did once upon a dream

"This serenade was a good idea."

"T'was."

Well, how was it? :))

Also, gimme some suggestions for other oneshots pleease.
