Ruined and Broken

3rd Person's POV

As Karina sits by her favorite tree near the lake she reflects back on the year and how things will change. She had managed to stay away from Harry and Draco for a whole day now. Today is the second to last day of the term meaning the celebration for House Cup would be tomorrow and then we would be able to leave.

Just a little bit longer, Karina tells herself.

Her brain goes off on a tangent as she thinks about Professor Trelawney's predictions. Then to the crystal ball prediction she saw with her own eyes. As much as she didn't want to fight with Draco, she knew it was coming. She wasn't quite sure how intense the fight would be but she was dreading it.

Even though my feelings for Draco are so intense I can't just sit on the side and agree with everything he has done.

"Hey Karina."

Karina jumps a little then turns around to see Harry standing beside her.

"Harry! Goodness you scared me!" Karina laughs to herself while watching him sit down.

"Sorry Rina. I was just walking around since I couldn't sleep and I saw you sitting here. Plus I wanted to talk to you."

Karina looks up at him when he says his nickname for her. At first, she thought he was crazy but now she kind of likes it. Looking into his blue eyes she sees a little bit of fear. Yet she doesn't know why.

"Yeah sure what's going on Harry. Are you okay?"

Harry smiles a little as Karina caresses his cheek while looking at his flushed face.

"No- I mean yes Karina. I'm fine- I- I just..."

Karina puts her hand back in her lap then stares at Harry while he stammers. She smirks a little while he struggles to get his sentence out.

"Well spit it out Harry. Or else we'll be here all night." Karina laughs lightheartedly looking up at the stars.

For some reason as Harry looks at Karina laugh so effortlessly, he feels the need to get closer to her.

God she's so beautiful, he thinks to himself.

Karina turns when she hears Harry no longer stuttering and sees him staring at her with lust. As she opens her mouth to speak Harry leans in and kisses her. Shocked she sits for a second not pulling away. She doesn't feel sparks but her stomach is in knots. Her hand lays on his chest feeling his heart beat faster with each breath he takes. Suddenly, she realizes who this is and shakes her head while jumping away from him. Harry looks at her bewildered face but feels content about finally doing something about his feelings. The shadow of a person behind them gets closer and closer. Before Karina can ask Harry what the heck just happened a person makes their presence known.

"So you really do have feelings for scarhead." Draco looks at the two scowling.

Karina hurries to her feet looking back from Harry and Draco. Her mouth opens and closes but no words come out. It seemed as if her prediction had been right around the corner all along.

"Scarhead? Really nice coming from someone like you Malfoy."

Harry stands up and gets in front of Draco. The two stand glaring at each other until a tiny figure pushes between them.

"Boys please don't do anything stupid."

"You're the one to talk Grey."

Karina stares at Draco with a heartbroken look on her face. Draco doesn't even notice her as she flinches when he continues to talk.

"You know what since you love to protect scarhead so much how about you be with him, not me." Draco glares at her then turns around and storms off.

Not even hesitating, Karina runs after Draco pleading. She begs and begs, nothing stops her from following after him. Not even the small voice of Harry that says, "Karina wait... Please."

Karina runs and trips as she tries to catch up with Draco who is speeding down the pathway to an entrance.

"Dray... Please... Dray please wait... Draco!!"

He stops harshly making Karina run into his back. Turning around he shows a face Karina had never seen and wished she never would. He scowls at her so hard she felt as if she was about to be six feet under.

Great this is what Professor Trelawney had been going on about. Potter snatching my girlfriend, my love, Draco thought making him angrier.

"I gave you everything. And you just spit on it! No you stomp all over. You and Potter!! No you couldn't have kissed Blaise, or Goyle, Crabbe maybe, hell even one of the weasels. You had to go and kiss scarhead... You are nothing but a nasty slut who wants to play guys. Lead them on and make them believe there was actually something. Make them believe that they could actually change and finally be happy. Finally be with someone who made them happy. Someone who-" Karina watches as his eyes become watery but in an instant they dry up and Draco's face turns stone cold.

Karina shakes her head slowly while tears run down her face. She doesn't care that she may look terrible. She doesn't care that someone could find them and hear everything being said. She didn't even care that as they stood there it started to rain.

As her tears blend in with the rain, Draco finds it easier and easier to become angrier at Karina. Of course the sappy boy was still in love with her but now with a broken heart. Of course he didn't want to say anything bad or hurt her, but he was in pain too. He hated seeing her cry but right now he just felt nothing.

"Draco I know how that looked okay. I am so sorry. I don't like him more than a friend. If you think I do please I need you to believe me. You saw my boggart. You know my biggest fear. Please I-I love you and I... I need you to trust me."

"I did... look where that got me." Draco says lowly as he turns around.

Karina grabs his arm to stop him, "Draco please. There is absolutely nothing going on between me and him. Nothing at all."

"Then explain to me how you two were kissing."

"I-I can't."

"That's what I thought. We're over... Being together, being best friends... I don't even want to look at you."

Karina whimpers as she watches the love of her life walk away from her. A loud sob comes from her mouth as she thinks about how bad the situation is. Draco, her best friend, boyfriend, her rock, hates her.

She runs over to the now empty tree space and slides down sobbing. Throughout the quiet forest and the campus, all that is heard is loud heart wrenching sobs and soft screams of heart break.

After Draco gets to his room, he showers and puts on dry clothes. As he sits in the common room with his hands cupping his face he notices how long it's been. Almost two hours and Karina still hasn't come inside yet. He doesn't know why he is even waiting to see if she does slide in past the brick wall. She could be with scarhead for all he knows. But he still cares a slight bit to make sure that she got back okay.

Groaning and sliding his hands through his platinum blonde hair, he gets up and walks out the dungeon.

Walking back to where he left Karina, he notices a figure laying in the grass by the big tree beside the lake. Jogging over he notices that it's Karina. Shaking his head, he sees she's asleep yet shivering violently. Her lips are blue and skin is pale.

He picks her up and walks to the infirmary. After making sure she was okay, he leaves and heads back to his room. Laying down in his bed looking at the ceiling, he thinks about how everything is about to change.

Karina's POV

Waking up I see I'm in the infirmary yet again. Honestly it feels as though I live here. I turn my head to the side and see Pansy sitting in the chair by the bed. I shake her arm making her gasp awake.

"Oh Ari! How are you?! Are you okay? What happened?"

"What? What do you mean?"

My mind goes blank for a second then all the events of last night pop up. It's like I'm living in a nightmare and I can't wake up because it's real life. Harry actually kissed me last night and Draco actually broke up with me.

Pansy opens her mouth to speak but I interrupt her, "Never mind. I know what happened."

I pull my knees up to chin and my eyes start to burn as the images pour through my head. Tears fall down my face and I hurriedly wipe them but Pansy sees.

"Ari... what happened?" Pansy's eyes start to water as she watches me cry like the baby I am.

"Pan something bad happened. The worst thing that could ever happen. And I don't know what to do."

Pansy grabs my hand and nods her head telling me to continue.

"Harry kissed me." She gasps and shakes her head slowly.

"And Draco saw." Her mouth drops but she doesn't say a word. We sit in silence for a while before I speak again.

"I think he actually hates me. I think this is actually the end Pan. But I love him."

I start to sob and she pulls me into a hug while whispering that everything will be better in the end. I don't think so. I think Draco wants nothing to do with me. I have never ever in my life seen him look at anybody the way he looked at me last night. It was like I was nothing but a stranger to him. Oh how I wish I could turn back time.

3rd Person's POV

Ron and Hermione sit and stare at Harry as he moves his potatoes around with his fork. He hasn't said a word since they last saw him which was yesterday.

"Do you know what's wrong? He seemed so happy yesterday... especially with him receiving his new broom." Hermione whispers to Ron.

"No, he was fine all night. This morning when I woke up he was sitting staring out the window. Ever since he's been like this."

"We won House Cup and everything... he never even flinched." Seamus whispers to Ron looking at Harry worried.

The three stare and stare, but Harry never says a word or looks up. Suddenly, the Great Hall goes quiet making Hermione and Ron look up towards the door to see Draco and Astoria walking to the Slytherin table while holding hands. All the house tables start whispering as the two sit down and Draco hangs his arm around her shoulder.

'Where is Karina?'

'Oh this is not good.'

'She's going to be pissed.'

Fred and George sit down infront of Hermione and Ron while looking confused.

"What is going on? Where is Karina?" Fred says while turning and glaring at Draco.

"And what's wrong with him?" George points at Harry who is still looking down at his plate.

Hermione and Ron both shrug while glancing over at the Slytherin table. Everyone is there as usual except Karina. The two watch Pansy argue with Draco and Astoria but they don't hear anything. Suddenly, the hall goes quiet again.

Karina stands at the door uncomfortable with all the eyes directly on her. Her eyes cast to the ground as she walks in the middle of the room. She is stopped by an arm holding her wrist just as she is at the center of the tables.

She looks up to see Fred looking at her sadly, "Hey Karina. Not sure if you want to go over to your table today. Would you like to sit here?"

Fred points to a seat across from Harry. He notices that she flinches as she looks at Harry then quickly diverts her eyes.

"No." She shakes her head so hard the Gryffindors think it will fly off.

"Okay well how about your table?" George points over to Karina's "old" seat which is now occupied by Astoria.

Karina looks over at the two and her eyes glaze over. She sucks in a harsh breath then looks down at her shoe while pouting.

"No." She whispers as she plays with her ring. She stops when Fred grabs her hand.

"Is everything okay?" He looks into her gleaming eyes as she laughs like she's in pain.

"Ask him." She glances at Harry then yanks her hand away.

The Gryffindors watch as she walks to the end of the tables then changes course and walks over to the Hufflepuff table. She finds Cedric Diggory and sits beside him. They whisper for a little bit then he looks up angrily at the Slytherin table. As he gets up she pulls his arm stopping him from walking. She whispers something to him and he looks over at the Gryffindors. Fred, George, Hermione, and Ron watch as Cedric stomps over to them but he is caught off guard by Karina running infront of him. Cedric nods slowly then lets Karina pull him out of the Great Hall, but not before glaring almost deadly at Harry.

"Harry Potter you better speak and you better speak now." Hermione says glaring at him.

"I kissed Karina." He whispers.

All he can remember is her loud heartbroken sobs that he heard throughout the quiet courtyard. He yearned to go to her and help her cheer up but he was the reason for this. It was all his fault.

The Gryffindors gasp then lean closer as Harry opens his mouth to speak again.

"I think I ruined Karina Grey."

========================================================================

Karina's POV

As I walk away from the Gryffindor table, I think of sitting with my house but then quickly decide against it. I don't think my heart can take it if I see Draco and Astoria all lovey dovey. How can someone say that you mean so much to them and the next day just pretend like you don't even exist. I understand that I hurt him but it's not like I meant to. I may have had hidden feelings for Harry but I would have never acted on them myself. No matter how much the crush would have felt I never thought it would ever come down to this.

Walking over to Cedric, I twist the promise ring that Draco had given me for my birthday. Guess that promise was nothing but a lie. Because it's as if I'm nothing but a stranger to him.

I sit down beside Cedric and he immediately turns towards me while grabbing my hands.

"Squirt... what happened?"

"Draco broke up with me. I think he actually hates me." I whisper to him while ignoring the confused stares from his housemates.

"I never thought I would see the day. My heart feels as if it's been ripped out of my chest... It hurts so much."

Cedric looks up at my house table and stands up with anger on his face, "I'll kill him."

"No," I grab his arm making him stop moving closer to killing Draco. "It's not his fault, Ced. Harry kissed me and he saw."

"Harry? Harry Potter?"

Cedric's eyes fill his fury as he moves around me and stomps over to the Gryffindor table. I run and stand infront of him just as he gets to Harry.

"Please don't." I whisper to him making him look at me. He breathes in heavily then nods.

Pulling Cedric out of the Great Hall, I ignore all the stares and whispers. We get to his room and I run over to his bed then throw myself down. Tears start to flood down my face as I start to think about how friendly Draco looked with Astoria a moment ago.

Cedric sighs then lays down beside me. He pulls me into a hug and kisses my forehead, "I'm so sorry squirt."

"Ced... you are the only thing right now that is keeping me from doing something horrible."

"Karina... don't you dare even think about hurting yourself."

I know he's serious because he said my actual name.

"If you weren't here, I don't know what I would do. I don't want to be here-"

Cedric grabs my cheeks with one hand and squeezes them making me stop talking.

"Don't you dare. You have so much to live for. Don't let this destroy you. Not now. And I'm right here. I'm not going anywhere."

"Swear to me Cedric." I look up at him as he stares intensely at my face.

"Karina Grey I swear I am right here. Always. Everything will be okay... I promise."
