Quidditch and Lake Visits

Karina's POV

As the school year enters November, the weather turns very cold. The mountains around the school become icy gray and the lake like chilled steel. Every morning, the ground was covered in frost.

The Quidditch season had begun. On Saturday, Harry would be playing in his first match after weeks of training: Gryffindor versus Slytherin. If Gryffindor won, they would move up into second place in the house championship.

The day before the school years first Quidditch match Draco, Pansy, Blaise and I sit in the courtyard enjoying the beautiful cold weather.

With the help of one of the lessons books, I conjure up a bright blue fire that could be carried around in a jam jar.

"Oh everyone look. There's Professor Snape walking up to the Gryffindorks." Pansy says pointing.

We all look at the scene and listen to what's being said.

"What's that you've got there, Potter?"

It was Quidditch Through the Ages. Harry showed him and he just stared with a blank face.

"Library books are not to be taken outside the school. Give it to me. Five points from Gryffindor."

"He's just made that rule up," Harry muttered angrily as Professor Snape limped away.

We all laugh and get glares from the trio.

"Wow Snape really doesn't like Potter. Maybe even a little bit more than me." Draco says while sketching in his journal.

"Mmm is that even possible though?" Blaise asks while tapping his chin.

Chuckling to myself I lay back and stare at the sky.

"Hey Blaise wanna go find some snacks before the Quidditch game?" Pansy asks as she stands up zipping up her jacket.

Blaise nods and walks off with pansy.

"So how are you two?"

Draco doesn't answer right away as he continues sketching.

"Um fine I guess. She's not my girlfriend or anything."

"True... Do you want her to be?"

I thought my voice would come out with the question a little bit stronger than it did.

Draco looks up from his journal and stares at me for a second.

"No never."

And with that he looks back down and continues on. Nodding even though he can't see me, I say nothing else.

We sit in silence while enjoying the prescence of one another. Out of nowhere, Draco lifts up his head and says look. I sit up and move over to him then look at his journal. Inside it is a drawing of me. Every detail is shown even the small not very noticeable frekcles on the bridge of my nose.

"Wow Draco this is amazing."

I look up into his eyes and see that they shine with gratefulness. Smiling at him I hand him back his journal.

"Keep it." He rips out the page carefully and hands me the drawing of myself.

Smiling widely I stare at the picture again and then jump into his lap giving him a hug.

"Thank you. That's so sweet!"

And of course our happiness had to be ruined by the Gryffindorks.

"Well well well not only is Karina a bully she's also a bad friend. Isn't pug face dating Malfoy?" Granger says sneering at me.

"Excuse me?!" I stand up quickly as Draco tried to grab my waist.

"You heard me." Granger takes a small step towards me.

"Aguamenti." A fountain of water bursts out my wand and hits Granger making her soaked.

She stands looking as surprised as Ron and Harry.

"You're not the only one who reads ahead Granger. Now let's get one thing straight you can say anything you want about me but don't ever talk about my friends. You call Pansy that again and you'll be sorry."

Draco finally grips onto me and pulls me away while grabbing our things.

"You got lucky Granger. This won't happen again." Draco says as we disappear from their view.

We walk to the common room and sit but don't speak.

"Am I a bully? And a bad friend?" I ask looking down at my hands. Which seem to be very interesting at this moment.

"Karina look at me."

Glancing up at Draco who seemed to be closer than a few seconds ago, I listen.

"You are not a bully. You were nice before and they misjudged you. So their fault. You are the nicest person I know. And you're definitely not a bad friend. Just two months ago we were talking about how you didn't want me to end things with Pansy. If that's not being a good friend I don't know what is."

I nod then look back at my hands. Hearing him sigh I think he's going to leave me but instead he says.

"Do you want to go to the lake?"
............................................................................................................................................................................

Sitting on a rock, I gaze at the beautiful sight in front of me. The forest surrounds the black lake that is lightly frozen while an orangish pink sky reflects off the ice.

"This is so amazing. Thanks for suggesting this."

"No problem. I actually come here alot to think and sketch."

"Really? I'm sure those sketches are as amazing as the real thing."

"Thanks."

I look over at him and notice two things. One is that he looks incredible. His platinum blonde hair is actually not jelled today but is slightly messy. Honestly, he looks good either way. And two he is also starting at me with just as much intense as I had looking at him.

He leans forward slowly waiting for me to probably back away.

Not today.

I lean forward making our lips touch lightly. Sparks burst as our lips collide. Butterflies attack my stomach. And I just know that things are going to change.
