Cottages and Surprise Friendship

Karina's POV

I stand by Cedric and laugh as Harry disentangles himself from Ron and gets to his feet. Looking around I see we had arrived on what appeared to be a deserted stretch of misty moor. In front of us was a pair of tired and grumpy-looking wizards, one of whom was holding a large gold watch, the other a thick roll of parchment and a quill. Both were dressed as Muggles, though very inexpertly: The man with the watch wore a tweed suit with thighlength galoshes; his colleague, a kilt and a poncho.

"Morning, Basil," said Mr. Weasley, picking up the boot and handing it to the kilted wizard, who threw it into a large box of used Portkeys beside him.

"Hello there, Arthur," said Basil wearily. "Not on duty, eh? It's all right for some. We've been here all night. You'd better get out of the way, we've got a big party coming in from the Black Forest at five fifteen. Hang on, I'll find your campsite... Weasley ... Weasley...." He consulted his parchment list.

"About a quarter of a mile's walk over there, first field you come to. Site manager's called Mr. Roberts. Diggory... second field... ask for Mr. Payne."

"Thanks, Basil," said Mr. Weasley, and he beckoned everyone to follow him.

We set off across the deserted moor, unable to make out much through the mist. After about twenty minutes, a small stone cottage next to a gate swam into view. Beyond it, I could just make out the ghostly shapes of hundreds and hundreds of tents, rising up the gentle slope of a large field toward a dark wood on the horizon. We said good-bye to the Weasleys, Hermione, and Harry and then approached our cottage door at the second field.

Walking inside the tent my mouth drops at how magnificently huge the inside actually is. On the outside of the cottage it appears to be a small tent that fits 2 people at the most. On the inside there are three rooms and stairs.

Oh how I love magic.

"Alright kiddos I'm gonna go unpack and relax for a bit then go out and see some coworkers before the game. You guys have fun. Explore." Amos says while walking into the room by the tent door.

"Here I'll show you your room." Cedric says as he grabs his and my bags.

Following Cedric up the stairs, we walk past the first door and he stops at the second on the right. Opening the door I see a small white room with a bean bag, desk, and a beautiful chandelier. Walking to the circular window, I look out and see yards and yards of cottage tents.

"Wow this is amazing."

"I know right."

I hear Cedric walk closer to me. He stands beside me for a good minute and then he pulls my hand and walks over to my bed. We sit down by one another but don't speak.

"How was it seeing Potter? You okay?" I look over to see worry all over his face.

"Um yeah it was okay... it went better than I thought it would. I guess we're fine now."

"Well that's good." He looks like he wants to say something else but he sighs and looks at the door.

"What Ced... I know you want to say something. I have a feeling I'm not going to like what you're asking but I might as well get it over with."

"How are you?"

"I'm fine Cedric."

"No really squirt. I know you have never been away from Malfoy for this long. How are you doing?"

I gulp and lay back on my bed, staring at the ceiling.

"I don't know. I miss him." My voice cracks and I hear Cedric sigh sadly.

One second later the bed creaks and I feel beside me dip down. Cedric pulls me into a hug just as I feel tears fall down my face.

"I don't know what to do Ced. Losing him was one of my greatest fears. I mean he is still living but I wanted to be with him forever. I wanted to marry him, and grow old together, and have a family. I know everyone thinks he was such a horrible person but that was all for show. He was a great guy, but I pushed him away. Now he hates me. I want him back... but I know he'll never take me back. He won't forgive me. He-"

"Alright Karina. I get it. Please stop. Seeing you like this is killing me. Maybe if you try to explain now that he is calmed down then he will listen."

"I don't know. Maybe."

"Think about it... Okay?"

========================================================================

Cedric leaves to give me space to think and clear my head. I haven't moved one inch. My head hurts so much that it makes my body ache. I haven't stopped thinking about Draco... not one bit since he broke up with me. And I'm not mad at him either... not for hurting me, not for trusting me, not for being with Astoria, not for anything because I did this to him. I drove him to it. I deserve this. I may not like it but I will wait... until he forgives me, because he is my world and I don't think I'll ever be the same without him.

Knock knock.

"Come in." I reply but stay laying looking at the ceiling.

"Karina I'm not sure if this is healthy."

I look over to see Fred and George standing in the doorway. Shrugging, I turn back to the ceiling with a sigh.

"I'm fine."

"I wouldn't say fine, but you do look great."

"Thanks Fred."

"I'm George."

I glance over at them for a second as they both sit on either sides of me, "No you're not. You're Fred. George is taller than you and he has a mole on his neck."

The two twins stare at me incredulously, "How did you do that?"

"Yeah mom never really can tell us apart."

"I just pay attention a lot to detail."

Smiling at the two, I pull them into a hug. They both freeze in surprise but then finally hug back.

"I missed you guys."

"Why did you never write us?" George asks sitting against the headboard.

I sit up and do the same, with my shoulders touching theirs, "I'm sorry. I honestly wasn't in the best mindset. I'm still not. There are days where I feel like I'm drowning and the nightmares come in and make me sink even deeper with each and every night that I close my eyes. I knew this was coming but I didn't know it would be so soon... or hurt so bad."

Silence fills the room as the two twins figure out what to say to me, the depressed Slytherin girl who doesn't want to even try in life anymore. All because of a boy, that golden haired silver eyed boy.

"That's it. I need the sassy annoying hard-headed stubborn Slytherin back."

We all turn our heads to see Hermione Granger standing at the door with Ron and Harry behind her. Hermione folds her arms across her chest and walks up to my bed.

"Karina Grey, you are a strong unbelievably intelligent girl who doesn't need any boy. Now I don't know how strong your relationship is with Malfoy, but I'm telling you that you will be okay. Even if you two don't talk and things don't get settled I know that you will be fine. You're one of the most smartest determined people that I've ever met. No matter how much we may get on each others nerves I can admit that you're pretty great. So stop mopping in this bed and go show him that you are fine."

The boys all look between the two of us in shock and fear wondering what will happen next. And the next thing that I did made them more confused than they have ever been.

I hug Hermione Granger.

"Thank you."

"You're welcome." She hugs me back and then we let go and everyone gathers around.

"Group hug?" Fred teases.

"Why not?" I giggle just as Fred and George pull everyone into a group hug anyways.

"Thanks you guys. You guys are good friends."
