You sighed wearily as you got up for another day at work. You worked as an assistant to commander x-2, which was a very high paying job in a place of honour as you got to work in the palace as you eagerly assisted him. You were to him what the cadet was to dodgers...except your boss actually treated with respect as a fellow martian.

The job was relatively simple, just fetching things for him and doing all the regular everyday things he was too busy with his position to do, but that wasn't what bothered you about it. It was the fact that you were falling in love with him was now making things awkward for you, especially as he was smitten with the Queen and if he was in love with the highest figure of authority on the planet, then chances are he wasn't going to spare a second thought for you. The truth hurts sometimes.

"(y/n)? Wherever are you?" You heard him call for you and so you rushed to wait on him.

"You called, sir?" You presented yourself, tidy, on time and with a cheerful smile on your face as you were eager to help. It was easy when he was this cute, sure, he was no centurion but you found something charming about his whole speech, mannerisms and passion for what he held near to him.

"Did you check those files on dodgers that i asked you to? I really feel that i MUST dig up some dirt on him, we all know he's not as heroic as he really claims to be, but i need to find something on him that shows he's the slimeball i know he is" He came closer to you and you felt your face heat up but you tried to ignore it. "I did. He's clean, but i did find these embarrassing pictures of him at last years Christmas party" You tried to stifle your giggle by covering your mouth as you said this but you just couldn't. You really wondered how an empire as powerful Mars but be so easily defeated by a bumbling idiot like dodgers but that's just how it was.

He took the photos and looked at them in disgust at the hideous display his feathered foe had made of himself and threw the photos into the fire in contempt. "Bah, and that was the best you could find? Everyone knows what a filthy, mindless animal he really is! You don't need a picture to tell you that! What i wanted was something big, something so wrong, i need a crime against the land!" He clutched his hands and said with so much passion that you felt intimidated just listening to him

"I-i'm sorry sir, but i did find a theft charge on him for stealing sweets as a kid if thats any good to you?" You smiled sweetly at him in hope of improving his mood.

He looked shocked and if he had a mouth then it would be in an "Ooh" position right now, but he quickly turned away, looking disappointed. "It's not your fault, (y/n), you can go now. I was just hoping to have discovered something so nasty about him that the queen would be disgusted and wouldn't think of him anymore, but the truth of the matter is he's just a slob, a lazy and pathetic loser!"

"He's also a very good pilot" You added.

"Need i be reminded of that fact?" He frowned.

"No, sir" You shook your head.

"It's just" He sighed and clutched his hands to his chest. "I wanted the queen to see him the way i see him for what he really is, you know i've been bitterly disappointed after she left me at our wedding for him, an insensitive jerk who doesn't even care about her!"

You knew it was probably cos she saw him as too much of a simp but you didn't say anything to him, you only tried to help him. "Don't feel bad, commander, she's the one missing out if she can't see what's in front of her, you're a great commander and a great boss" You approached him and gave him a warm smile.

His face turned pink at your flattering speech and he looked touched. "Well...that's very nice of you to say, (y/n), thank you, I appreciate it" If he had a mouth then he would be smiling right now.

You then realised what you were doing and got a little embarrassed. "I'm sorry if that was unprofessional, I just thought you needed cheering up" You responded.

"Well it's cheered me up no end, you know, you're not so bad yourself, (y/n)"

You flushed a bright pink when he said this. "Oh, well, uh, thanks, that's...great, sir"

"Please...just call me commander" He said lovingly as he took your hand gently in his and his eyes sparkled. "(y/n), all this time i wasted chasing the queen, I refused to see what was in front of me, refused to see your true beauty, but I'm not going to make the same mistake she did, tell me: Do you love me?"

" Of course I do, commander! " You smiled happily and hugged him. He looked taken aback but went along with it anyway.

"Thank you, dear for being there for me" He said dreamily and pulled you in and kissed you! You were shocked when he pulled away but enjoying this all the same. "Now, back to work!" He said in a joking voice as you skipped off happily to deal with other matters, glad that he reciprocated your love.
