"That's right, (y/n), remember to take that box in the house" Your mother called to you.

"Uugh, I forgot how much of a pain moving could be" You sighed as you had finished taking the last box into the house before you started unpacking.

"Yes, I know it is, but it'll be great once it's all done! We'll finish unpacking after dinner"

Your mother had recently got a new and better job out here and so you had to move to this new town. You had to admit, you were a little nervous about moving house, school and meeting new people, but it was a better opportunity for you both, even if unpacking wasn't fun.

You had lived here for two weeks now and you were kinda missing your old home. For a start you had friends back there and you couldn't seem to make any friends so you were a little lonely. And also this place was a little weird, sure it was beautiful, modern but also had an old fashioned charm, but there was something a little off about it. For one, you could've sworn that you heard a car coughing when it ran out of fuel yesterday and you were certain you heard a dog talk yesterday, but maybe you were just tired from moving? Maybe even a little stressed.

Today you had come back from school and as usual, your mother was still at work and you were left alone with  nothing to do. It was a beautiful sunny day, so you decided against watching tv and so you went for a walk. Sure, it's not exactly safe for a fourteen year old girl to go wandering off, but this was The most harmless and innocent place you had ever seen and The people were so friendly. The town had a beautiful park and so you thought you should buy some bread and feed the ducks. You smiled cheerfully as you saw the place was empty and was available just for you. "Perfect" You smiled as you found your place on a bench and sat down and started throwing bread for the ducks. It didn't take long for one to respond but it acted a little differently than you had expected.

You watched as a duck with black feathers, who looked almost as tall as you swam closer and he was wearing an expression that looked like he had won the lottery. "Ooh! Bread!" He giggled as he greedily munched down the slices you had thrown. Your eyes widened in horror. It talked!

He suddenly caught sight of you and noticed that you were the one throwing the bread and he just had to get closer. "Is that for me? Thank you!" He smiled goofily and snatched and ate the whole loaf in one bite. He forced the whole loaf down his thin throat and you could see it sit like a rock in his stomach as he didn't chew it.

"Y-you can talk!" You exclaimed in amazement.

"Of course I can! Why shouldn't i? I'm not stupid!" He answered and turned a cartwheel.

"Wow, I thought this place was strange, but this? What are you?" You asked.

" Why, I'm a duck of course! You wouldn't have been throwing bread to me if I wasn't, would ya? "

"No, I suppose not, oh, wow, this is weird"

"It's not weird, it's Daffy! Daffy duck, pleased to meetcha!" He grinned and put his feathered hand out for you to shake, which you took cautiously.

"O-ok"

"Whoo hoo! Whoo hoo! Whoo hoo!" He laughed and jumped about and did flips. You were a little scared at first but he seemed quite harmless to you now. You just realised that while this place was a little strange, it wasn't bad. You smiled at him.

"I'm (y/n) (l/n)" You introduced yourself politely.

"And I'm guessing you're new here?"

" Yes, how'd you know? "

"Cos you didn't know anything about the laws of physics here"

"What laws of physics?" You asked but then you saw as ran off a cliff but didn't fall down till moments later.

"Woah, well this is all very new to me" You scratched your head. "I'm going home now, I'll be back same time tomorrow" You smiled as you realised not to question why this place was so unusual and just embrace it.

"Ok!" He smiled and tagged along as you walked off.

"Hey! You can't follow me home!" You argued.

"Why not?" He asked in complete confusion .

"Because....You just can't, you have to stay here"

"Oh, alright" He seemed to willingly agree.

as you walked home, you felt someone watching you following you and you looked around a few times but each time you saw no one. You shrugged it off and made it back to your house, and turned the key to let yourself in, but you were in for a surprise.

"AAAGH! W-w-what are you d-doing here?" You stammered as you saw that the duck had disobeyed you and followed you home.

"You're beginning to sound a lot like a friend of mine" He calmly remarked but then got up and started jumping about.

"Why did you follow me?" You asked as you picked him up and stared at him.

He looked so small and innocent now and started to cry, making you want to cry as well. "Because that bread you have me was so good! I must repay you! Please! I'll do anything!" He begged and pleaded.

" But it's fine! I honestly don't want anything! You don't have to repay me" Your face softened as you saw he just wanted to be friends.

"But I'll do anything! Do you want flowers?" He asked and pulled put a huge bouquet from nowhere. "Cakes?" He parked a lorry in your garden and unloaded a mountain of confections. "A marching band?" And without any warning, a band was now matching through your house and playing for you! You covered your ears for the noise but eventually started laughing because you saw he was just silly.

"Daffy" You shook your head as the house was now clear. "You don't have to do any of that! Then only thing you can do is be my friend, you're fun and I'm lonely, please?" Your eyes twinkle in a way that only a cartoon characters would.

"I would love to!" He squealed. " woo hoo! Wooo hoo! WoWooo hoo! " He exclaimed and jumped about for joy.

You laughed at how crazy he was, feeling glad you now had a friend. "But uh, could you please help me clean the house you wrecked? My mom will kill me if she sees this mess"

"Well...I don't really like cleaning" He twiddled his widdwe fingers.  "But anything for you! Where's that mop?" He giggled and lunged at the dishes. You knew he weird but you liked him anyway and you were happy that you now had a friend.
