Shortly after Naruto agreed for Kiba to drive him home, against his will of course, he tried to call Sasuke but his phone went straight to voicemail. He wanted to cancel the private car from coming since he had no need for it anymore, plus he didn't want whoever was driving him to see him heading out with Kiba.

That's when he had thought as he tried to call again the second time.

"Why am I hiding?" He wondered himself.

He felt that this was what contributed to his fraudulent behavior, lying over and over again. The more he socialized with Kiba was the more that he had to lie to everyone else, including himself. He was supposed to be going home curtesy of his fiancé, not some guy that he can't even just be friends with.

That's when he came to the decision, he had to stop what he was doing with Kiba before it was too late for him to turn back to who everyone preferred him to be.

"I'm sorry Kiba." He mumbled to himself.

A few minutes after that Shikamaru and Kiba finished their conversation and went back to the room to help Naruto get his stuff. However, when they got there not only was Naruto's stuff gone, but so was he.

In fact, all that was left from Naruto was the fox plushie that Kiba had won for him as a surprise.

"Where the fuck is he?" Kiba asked, looking at Shikamaru who raised his hands in defense.

"Don't ask me! I was with you obviously."

Kiba was visibly worried and started searching the whole room. He flipped his mattress over and kicked the bathroom door open while still looking everywhere in the room he could think of where Naruto could be hiding.

"Oi!" Shikamaru called, gaining his attention while he before his tantrum got worse. He held up a letter that was left on the table beside Naruto's bed. "He left a note."

Kiba walked over and took the note from him. He read it while breathing heavily.

"I'm sorry...Kiba." He read, looking at Shikamaru in confusion.

"..."

"Why would he do this?"

"Why wouldn't he?"

"What is that supposed to mean?!"

"Isn't it obvious." Shikamaru replied before sitting on Naruto's bed. "He cares about you and doesn't want you to hurt yourself trying to get him."

"That isn't his decision to make!"

"You trying to help him without him asking is also not your decision to make."

"..."

"Say you go there just to find out Sasuke isn't really up to anything and he's just a big asshole. What are you gonna do now? Leave Naruto alone? Do all of that just to leave him there to live his life?" He asked.

"That's on the case if I'm wrong."

"..."

"I still have to see if it's all good for myself! This isn't just to satisfy my own ego, Shikamaru! This is to also help Naruto to be free and be who he wants to be!"

"..." Shikamaru sighed while glancing outside the window before raising his eyebrow in seriousness.

"What now?!" Kiba asked, noticing his expression.

He turned his attention to where Shikamaru eyes were and let out a sigh as he saw Naruto on the campus dragging all his belongings, and struggling immensely at it on his way to the front gate.

"Not even half way there but he still doesn't give up." Shikamaru commented.

"..."

"It shows how serious he is."

"Well, him and I are alike. If he's going to be relentless about this then so am I." Kiba promised before making his way out the door.

"Kiba wait!"

"..."

"You'll need these to get started." Shikamaru smiled before tossing the keys over to him and earning a smile back from the brunette.

"And remember what I said about the car."

"Yeah, yeah, I remember."

"And also Kiba?!"

"Yeah?"

"I hope you're right."

"Thanks, I'm hoping I'm right too."

"Fucking hell!" Naruto cursed under his breath as he continued to struggle at pulling the heavy amounts of luggage with him.

He wanted to get all done quickly before Kiba and Shikamaru noticed his disappearance, but once again faith wasn't on his side.

"Need help?" Kiba asked.

Naruto peeked behind the bags and was confused when he didn't see him.

"Behind you." Kiba repeated, startling the blonde. "Did I frighten you?"

"No...shit!" Naruto spat in between his deep breaths.

"Good, cause the last time I checked you agreed to me taking you home."

"Well, I'm unagreeing to it."

"Why?"

"Because!" Naruto emphasized as he didn't answer but continued to pull his belongings.

"That's not an explanation."

"Then take it as whatever you want it to be! Whatever would satisfy you, just take it and leave me be!"

"..."

"Don't you see? Nothing is going to work out between us, not as friends, not as lovers and not even as ourselves..."

"..."

"I agreed to you giving me a lift home because I felt like I had no choice. I wanted to give you a parting gift, a final goodbye, but I knew bringing you along would only spell trouble for us."

"How?"

"..."

"How will it spell trouble between us, Kit?!"

"You heard what Sai said, didn't you?"

"..."

"Well you can sum it up with that." Naruto finished as he continued pulling until he was past Kiba. He kept his gaze to the ground to hide the tears that threatened to run free due to his breaking heart.

He didn't want to leave him, but he had too. There was no world that he could be involved with both Sasuke and Kiba, and he already made up his mind on who he wanted.

He was willing to accept the idea of losing someone that he just now knew that he was just as attached too as someone he's known a lot longer.

"Don't I get a say in this?" Kiba asked, bawling his fist as he watch Naruto struggling.

He didn't reply, so Kiba ran up to him and grabbed him by his top. He saw the tears in Naruto's eyes that widened at him in fear at his actions.

He was just as afraid of losing him just as he was.

The thunder clapped, alerting them of another series of rain. The sky was dark but yet so beautiful as the pair stood under it, too involved in their own hurt feelings to even take in the beauty of it all.

"There...is no say." Naruto replied.

"Well then I'm telling you to get in the car. You said I could take you home and I don't give a fuck about any parting phases, I'm taking you home."

"..."

"So for once just stop trying to fucking predict faith and just trust the process."

"..."

"..."

"..."

"You hear me!" Kiba repeated, his voice cracking under the heavy emotions that he was feeling.

He wasn't going to let go of him. He had no intention too actually, even if Sasuke wasn't up to anything, he could still see that Naruto felt something for him, something just as strong as he felt for the blonde.

It's just Sasuke had more approval over him.

"Fine." Naruto agreed, hoping that it would be the end of them together, but also hoping that the journey home would be a long one.

One that he'll remember forever.

Sorry for the LONG hiatus. My creative energy was lacking, but I think I'm back and ready to continue the story.

Of course it's going to take a while because I will be trying to go for short chapters that way I don't burn myself out like I always do which would result in another hiatus and this book is honestly long overdue. I feel like I should give it a read to just get myself back in the grind.

But reading my own stories make me cringe 💀
