Later that night, I woke up suddenly as a lot still weighed on my mind. It wasn't easy for me to fall asleep so I got up every now and then after realizing I had actually managed to get a small nap.
I slept in one of the guest rooms near to the room Kiba was in. Hinata decided to stay the night with us so she was also in here with me.
I figured out that when they all used to sleepover they shared rooms a lot. It was actually a sweet thought to think about.
It's clear they've been friends for a really long time and they even knew one of the teachers for just as long, so even if Kiba didn't have his family, he always had a great substitute.
Still, nothing can beat the original.
Suddenly I heard a thud outside the door. I got up immediately to go check it, but the halls were empty, that's when I saw a light from under the door that Kiba was in. I pressed my ear against it carefully and that's when I could hear mumbling and cursing.
Kiba must've been awake.
It probably wasn't the best idea, but I was still worried about him. Plus, it wouldn't hurt to check and see if he was okay.
I opened the door and saw Kiba sitting on the floor with the lamp next to him. It looked like he had fallen off the bed and couldn't quite get back up.
"Kiba!" I gasped under my breath.
He looked up at me with bags under his eyes but it still didn't hide his piercing brown orbs that sent a million daggers my way every time he was upset with me.
"..."
"..." I froze, not knowing what to do.
"I told....Hinata...that I wanted you gone." He spat, his words slurring as if he was drunk.
"Well...like I said before." I replied as I closed the door behind me and approached him, remembering Hinata's words of encouragement from earlier. "I'm not leaving you."
"Tsk..." He shifted his gaze elsewhere.
"Why are you on the floor?"
"..."
"Did you fall?"
"..."
"Are you hurt?"
"..."
"Do you need help?"
"..."
He still hasn't said anything to me, he only speaks to tell me to leave him alone or when he wants to speak and that's it, nothing more and nothing less.
"Kiba, I don't know how much more apologizing I can do-"
"Then stop, just leave it as it is." He countered before I could even finish.
"Not when you're ignoring me like this."
"..."
"Fine, be that way."
"..."
I stepped over him and picked up the lamp from the ground before placing it back on the nightstand. Luckily he didn't break it or he would've been hurt even more by more broken glass.
I still can't believe his mother did that to him though.
Talk about a double whammy.
"Alright, you can't stay on the floor so I'm gonna help you up."
"I can stand on my own."
"Then get up."
"I don't feel like it right now. I'll stay down here...the floor is fine." He replied as he squinted his eyes as if he was trying to fight off sleep.
I looked to the side and noticed a bottle under the bed. I reached for it and from just looking at the name and the fact that it was empty I knew exactly what had transpired.
"Did you drink an entire bottle of sleeping medicine?"
"..."
"Kiba?"
"..."
"Ugh, you're such a child." I sighed as I placed the bottle next to the lamp.
"..."
Well arguing with him wasn't going to get me anywhere. So maybe I had to use a different approach, still it'll be a risky one.
Come on Naruto, just don't fight him back.
"Alright, since you won't talk to me and you're clearly too tired to help yourself, I'll help you."
"..."
"Just please don't push me this time, okay?"
He didn't respond, he only looked at me for a second before rolling his eyes and looking away.
I took that as a green light and made my move.
"Alright, give me arm." I reached out to him, probably wasn't a good idea as he just continued to ignored me.
"Oh my Kaguya...Fine! I'll do it myself."
I moved closer to Kiba and wrapped my arms around his waist with my legs spread on either side of him and my head in the crook of his neck.
He felt so warm and I could feel his little hairs tickling my neck. His scent was still so strong yet soothing to me, made me realize how long it's been since I've smelt him.
Wait!
STAY FOCUSED NARUTO!
Right!
I positioned my feet firmly on the ground and prepared to lift him. It was a struggle at first as he was purposely making his lacrosse ass body heavier, it was nice to see he was still playful, but this wasn't the damn time.
I hope I don't break my back because of this.
Eventually he must've gotten bored because I was finally able to lift him, but of course he carried himself like a rag doll and went limp in my grip. I had to crawl on the bed and grab him under his armpits and pull him up that way.
Only for him to just stand up and sit on the bed, causing me to fall over on the other side. Luckily I didn't fall on my head or we would've had a real problem.
I wanted to flip him and this bed over so badly, but I was behaving myself because he was already hurt.
"Hm." I heard him chuckle under his breath.
I don't know what about it made me smile, but it was nice to see I was making progress in someway. Even if he almost made me hit my head and go unconscious.
Did I have a type for men who try to hurt me or what?
"Is that laughter I hear?" I asked as I walked around the bed and stood in front of him.
Kiba looked off to the side with his feet dangling from the bed. He still wasn't talking to me willingly and even though he enjoyed seeing me struggle it was going to take a lot more than just that for him to talk.
"Look Kiba, I know you're upset about what happened and I get it..."
"..."
"But I want you to know that I really am sorry about what I put you through, but also thank you for understanding why I couldn't do anything even though you're against it."
"..."
"For my parents to not only find out that I've been with a guy, but also find out that he had almost...I don't know how they'd react to that. I couldn't have said anything. I'm sorry that you had to get scraped up and all worked up about it too, that wasn't my intention... But I'm grateful you were there." I expressed to him as I caressed the bruise on his cheek.
I reached for his hand and entwined his fingers with mine. Luckily, he didn't pull away from me, but he still didn't look at me.
"For what it's worth, I'm still looking forward to our date. If you're up for it, I was thinking we maybe go somewhere with not many people, just sit and talk."
"..."
"Oh yeah! Mom was actually saying she wanted you to come for breakfast later. I don't think you'll make it because of your injury but it's okay if you can't. I'll just make up something to tell them because that's just what friends d-" I paused as he pulled his hand away from mine.
"..."
"Right..."
He must've not wanted to see them, especially in a condition like this.
"I should probably let you get some rest, you must be tired." I decided, not wanting to use up all my luck for tonight.
Just as I was about to walk out of the room Kiba asked me something that made me stop and just reignited a bit of hope in my heart.
"How's your head, Kit?" He asked with a straight face, but I knew he was smiling on the inside. "Hope I didn't give you a concussion."
"Ha, it's fine, thanks for asking." As I turned around and looked at the ground with a small smile.
"..."
"..."
"Good." He simply replied, which was enough for me to take a seat in the room and just keep him company whether he wanted it or not.
β’β’β’
In the morning I had woken up with my head resting on Kiba's bed. I don't exactly know when I had ended up here beside him when I had dozed off, but it wasn't hard to figure out that it was him.
He laid on the bed completely out of it, just by the look on his face the medicine finally kicked in and it was going strong.
His hand rested on my head gently almost like he was patting my head while I slept.
What a good friend...
I took his hand off me and placed it on his side before deciding it was best for me to leave before my parents got concerned. It was clear Kiba was going to be too tired to make it, but at least he's allowing me to touch him.
But just before I left, I walked back over to him on the bed and leaned over him, and placed a gentle kiss on his cheek. He flinched for a moment, I thought he was about to wake up but instead a small smile formed on his lips and he just snuggled deeper in his sleep.
Why did he have to be so cute?
What was with me all of a sudden, yeah Kiba was cute and attractive, but THIS cute?! I thought it wasn't possible.
After that I left his room and Hinata and I got dropped off to our respective houses curtesy of Mrs Sarutobi. I told her to drop me off a little further from the house though as my parents might see her car and question how she dropped me home if I was at Kiba's house.
See? I'm not so dense after all.
(A/N: You precious fool. Stick to your studies π)
"Hey, Naruto?" Mrs Sarutobi called once she had dropped me off.
"Yeah?"
"I just wanted to thank you for calling Hinata and I when you did. Kiba has so many friends and it's really good to see that each of them care for him as much as he does for them."
"Yeah, it was no problem. I knew if I was in his situation, he'd do the same."
"He really would, he's selfless like that."
That's the truth.
"But I also wanted to congratulate you two on becoming so close. He doesn't really just let anyone to know about his situation at home, only those closest to him. Yet he never asks for help, he just needs someone to be there to listen to him in his times of need."
"I understand, he sometimes stays with us, but we had a disagreement the night before, but I wouldn't have told him to go back home..."
"..."
"But he was so upset that he just left and went on his own."
"I see."
"..."
"Well, hopefully it wasn't anything serious as he did allow you in his room last night."
"Yeah haha, I didn't even know I fell asleep. I just woke up next to him..."
"..." Mrs Sarutobi smiled at me while tilting her head to the side. I could feel my face getting red just thinking about and the fact that I was smiling too made it worse.
"Uh, hahaha well I should get going before it's too late to catch breakfast with the family." I laughed manically in embarrassment.
"Oh! That's right. I need to hurry back and make sure Asuma doesn't burn the food. Oh my Kaguya I should've left Hinata to supervise him." She sighed as she said her goodbye and put the car in reverse and drove off at top speed.
I didn't know pregnant women drove so quickly. Reminds me of mom when dad used to be left at home with us.
She'd be home on TIME she did not waste a second to let him make a mess in her kitchen.
Anyway, I walked as quickly as I could from around the corner to get to my house. Even though I won't be able to see Kiba until tomorrow, or worse case scenario, Monday I wanted to enjoy the little family time that I had with my family.
Seeing Kiba's situation really made me appreciate them a lot more. It reminded me that nothing in life is never perfect, everything has a flaw. But for my family, loving each other unconditionally was never that flaw.
I couldn't be more appreciative of everything they had done for me, getting involved with Sasuke might've been a bad idea, but all I can think about was what if Kiba hadn't been there to stop him.
(A/N: Might've?)
What if he had done what he wanted to me and gotten away with it? I couldn't tell my family about it so he would've gotten away.
Also I couldn't help but think that that wasn't his first time doing something like that. He wasn't under the influence of anything that I would know about and so that might've been his intention for a long time.
If he couldn't get it, then he'd take it.
Maybe he was under something, he did seem very off the whole time. Maybe I should see if he's okay?
Ugh! What am I thinking?! Kiba literally broke into his fucking car.
Still, a small part of me couldn't help but blame myself, maybe if I wasn't interested in boys and didn't choose to get involved with him then maybe none of this would've happened.
Maybe I would've been alone or with Hinata since she did like me first. But Kiba...
It was so hard to think about it and not get overwhelmed. I just hoped this didn't escalate to anything and that Sakura was okay being with a guy like that.
Still, I was worried about what had happened to Sasuke after he found his car and we all left.
β’β’β’
After I entered my home, I was immediately greeted by the family, with mom hugging me and checking if I was physically okay. I guess I really did get emotional on her on the phone so I don't blame her.
But the atmosphere was so welcoming and bright, yet all I could think about was Kiba sitting in the dog house while his mom paraded around the house drunken and violent.
What if he hadn't even managed to escape her and get himself outside?
Shit, I really hope Kiba is okay.
I told them he wasn't coming and lied that it was because he had to go somewhere with his family and couldn't make it to breakfast with us. They were clearly disappointed but understanding at the same time.
Saying things like they'll save a plate for him next time and even joked that I should've begged him to come and that we're his family too. I know Kiba would've loved to hear that just as much as I did, if not even more.
I went up and took a shower and changed into some cleaner clothes before going back down and joining them for breakfast.
"So what's on the agenda today?" Mom asked as she and dad shared our plates and placed them in front of us.
"Well, it is a Saturday so staying home is an option, but there's also things we can do to day like go to the beach or go to the park." Naruko recommended.
"I don't wanna go to the park. There's literally nothing there to do but sit on grass." Menma whined.
"That's the point. You go there to sit and enjoy the beauty of nature, take a rest for once, ya know?" She argued while rolling her eyes at him.
"Do I look like I walk on four legs and bark, Naruko?" He asked.
"I don't know what you like to do in your free time, but I'm sure you definitely would do that." She smiled before continuing to eat her meal.
"Hey, hey. No fighting at the table." Dad reminded us.
"Hm, well then you give us an activity then Menma, since the park is for dogs." Mom suggested as she smiled at us.
"Hm finally, well I personally think we should go to the skate park."
"As a family activity?"I asked as Naruko and I fought to hold in our laughter at his suggestion.
"What? What's wrong with that? It can be for the whole family, we go skating and Mom and Dad can watch from the bench." He finished.
"Haha so we're going to the skate park to be your supervisors?" Dad asked.
"No, think of it more as our lookouts."
"Lookouts eh? So what exactly are we looking out for you all for?" Mom asked in amusement.
"Looking out for the sick moves that I'll unleash onto all the other skaters." He boasted.
"The only sick thing that'll be there is everyone having a stomachache from seeing you fall and break your neck. You don't even own a skateboard..." Naruko corrected him.
"That's where you're wrong, know it all! I do too own a skateboard and it's in my room...somewhere."
"You mean the one you got when we were five?" I asked.
"The one and only." He smirked as began eating again.
The whole table died of laughter at the fact that he'd mention something so small that it could literally only fit under one of his feet. Mom and Dad were laughing at that fact, but Naruko and I were laughing more about how at one point it was his favorite ashtray at one point.
"What? What's so funny?!" He asked. "You guys seriously take me for a joke, ya know?"
"Awe, don't be embarrassed sweetie. You can go to the skate park without us. No parent should ever be around to see children laughing at their child mockingly." Mom chuckled.
"Why would anyone mock me?" He asked.
"Because of the sick moves and the very sick skateboard of a champion." Dad added in, trying to make himself sound serious.
"The poor thing would probably break under his weight." Naruko whispered to me causing the both of us to continue laughing.
"Hm? What are you two laughing at?" He asked, slightly getting irritated.
"Nothing...of great smokey skater." We both said in unison causing Menma's face to go red. It was absolutely hilarious.
"Smokey skater? Is that his nickname?" Dad asked, causing Menma to panic.
"No, no, no! It's just...a saying amongst us kids." He frantically lied causing Naruko and I to laugh even more.
Eventually after skimming through ideas and making fun of Menma even more we came to an agreement to just stay home for tonight. We wanted to make the best of family time and figured the best place to do it was in space where it was just us.
Which we all agreed to without hesitation, well except Menma but Naruko and I knew he just wanted to leave the house so he could wonder off from us and go smoke.
The first thing we planned to do was watch a few movies. It started off with some simple family movies that really set the mood perfectly, and brought back a bit of nostalgia for us.
We all sat in the living room with mom and dad sprawled out on on loveseat and Naruko and I on the other with Menma laying in our laps. Over time we'd switch position if either of legs would fall asleep and so on.
First we watched, Corspes Bride.
"Imagine coming back from the dead, getting a man and letting him go." Mom sighed as she began to tear up.
"Mom, it's her not wanting to take away the man that the now living bride has and ruining her special day like what happened to her." Naruko explained.
"Yeah, I get that, but he was so willing to drink poison for them to be together."
"Would have drunk poison if it was me?" Dad asked.
"Haha don't ask such silly questions, Minato. If you had loved me so dearly why would you want me to die at such an age? At her young age we would've had the kids."
"So you'd move on without me?"
"I never said that, but someone needs to be there for the kids. You'd just have to wait for me naturally, then we'd both cross over together." She smiled.
"So you'd both just cross over without us?" Menma asked.
"Hm? That's why you all should get married so you can crossover with your significant other." She replied.
"Please don't get her started on marriage, smokey." Naruko warned him while smacking his forehead.
"Please..." I sighed not really wanting to hear about it either as the events of Sasuke were still very fresh in my mind.
We then watched another family movie, Powerpuff Girls: The Movie.
"I always loved watching this on Saturdays when we were younger." Naruko smiled while recording the TV and sending it to TenTen.
"Ugh! I hated it, you'd always hog the TV." Menma sighed.
"You say that like you didn't love it." I teased.
"Love it? Oh please! This is a girl's show." He replied.
"What's wrong with a girl show?" Naruko asked.
"Nothing, they just aren't as good as boy shows." He replied.
"I find that hard to believe actually. If I recall correctly I'd come home at night and you'd be watching the series for this all the time." Dad pointed.
"Really?" Naruko and I said unison, completely shocked as he would swear how much he hated it.
"Dad!?" He panicked.
"Oh yeah! I remember that, Naruko and Naruto would watch it in the day on TV, and Menma would watch the same episodes at night on my phone." Mom chuckled.
"Dear Kaguya!" Menma sighed as he covered his face in embarrassment while Naruko and I laughed.
"He'd go on about how he was Buttercup and she was his favorite." Mom continued.
"Obviously, Naruto was already Bubbles and I was Blossom."
"Let's not get back into that please..." I begged as I hide my face in embarrassment now.
"Haha don't be embarrassed, it's nothing." Naruko laughed.
"Oh yeah! I also remember Naruko crying on the supermarket floor because I wouldn't let her dye her hair ginger."
"MOM!?" Naruko whined as she also hid her face in embarrassment, making our parents laugh.
I think we all at that moment as siblings vowed to never watch this together with our parents ever again for as long as we all live.
That's when we moved onto more comedic movies like, Girls Trip, The Other Woman, Diary of a Wimpy Kid and Disaster Movie.
Finally we dove into horror movies, which if I was being honest we should've done before the other movies but our parents were horror movie fanatics. Like at this point Menma was staring at the ceiling, Naruko was trying not to make eye contact with the screen and I'd glance to away from the TV every now and then.
Because it was, Fear Street, with all the parts, yes.
It was a new film to all of us and the major plot point of this was the main character being gay and I couldn't for the life of me not be even more uncomfortable sitting there in front of my family while watching it.
"Oh, this film is so good yet unsettling." Dad awed.
"Right? The whole thing about witchcraft is so realistic but hard to believe at the same time." Mom agreed.
"At least the characters are good, I really miss that one girl though. Her relationship with the brother was so precious."
"Yeah, I miss her as well. Oh, and the sister being killed by her own boyfriend."
"That made me almost tear up."
"I saw haha. I was trying not to look at you while you kept fidgeting." Mom laughed as she leaned on Dad's shoulder.
"Hm, don't laugh at me. Besides it's an emotional series we're expected to feel somewhat teary."
"Not to mention petrified." Naruko added as she was hiding her face from the TV using her phone.
"The romance does make it nicer." Menma admitted which did surprise me.
"Yes Menma, I'm sure two girls being together would be great for you." Naruko said as she rolled her eyes.
"Hm, is it obvious?" He smirked.
"Dear Kaguya, Menma that's not a good thing, you know they're lesbians right?" Mom asked.
"Yeah so?"
"Meaning they like girls, Menma. What are you so smug about?"
"People can change-"
"Menma please don't." Dad stopped him immediately knowing what he was heading too. "Just focus on Hinata and be a good boy."
Menma pouted while Naruko tapped him on the forehead and we both laughed silently at him. Well, mostly her because I was too nervous about having such a conversation around them. The way they spoke about the characters wasn't that bad, but they didn't exactly flat approve of them or disapprove of them either.
Still, this was just a movie. Telling them I was gay would be personal and in real life.
The reaction was destined to be different.
"Say Naruto, you've been quiet the whole film. I hope you're not thinking the same as Menma." Dad said as he looked at me with a small chuckle.
"Don't be silly Minato. Naruto is a good boy, thoughs things wouldn't come to his mind." Mom pointed out.
"So I'm the bad one?" Menma asked.
"Of course not, he just has better tendencies, and it's those tendencies that will get him a life long wife."
"Really now? Naruto doesn't even have a girlfriend, but I do." Menma pointed out.
Dear Kaguya, please make them stop talking about this.
"Hinata is wife material, but you aren't husband material, Menma. However, Naruto is." Naruko pointed out. "Understand?"
"No!" He yelled as he jumped off of us to create a scene to prove his point. "You all don't even know what kind of woman Naruto likes. He's never had a girlfriend after all, meanwhile I've had plent..."
"You've had what?" Mom asked as she raised an eyebrow.
"A few...I've had a few girlfriends. I've definitely never brought them into the house, but I've had them." He continued, making Naruko roll her eyes as he has had multiple girls come here before.
"That doesn't mean anything besides you have a lot of bodies, body kisses, I guess." She smirked.
"Be quiet Naruko..." He warned her.
"Haha but Menma that's fine and everything, but it already seems like Naruto has a type that he's looking for and whoever she is, he just hasn't met her yet." Mom explained.
"Yeah, because unlike how you'd hide all your girlfriends from us. Naruto would have us meet his immediately." Dad agreed.
"Exactly."
"Well then, let's see who his type is first then." He concluded as he turned to me.
"..." I stared at the TV trying my best to pretend like I wasn't in the conversation.
I contemplated if I should just bring up smoking to make Menma get tense, but I didn't want to throw him under the bus like that.
"Bro?" He called as he literally smacked me in the head.
Maybe I should do it.
"Don't hit him." Naruko said as she hit him back.
"Ouch! What is it?" I asked.
"Ah, Naruko! What do you mean what is it? What's your type of girl?" He asked as he rubbed the back of his head.
"Type of girl?" I asked.
"Yeah, what are you deaf?!"
I completely went blank in the head. As a matter of fact all I could think about was a man's body, specifically Kiba's and Sasuke's, not even Tamaki's body whom I've already seen.
I was just put on the spot so suddenly, I haven't even thought about anything to use as a cover. I've just been avoiding these conversations for so long that I haven't even had time to prepare. What was I supposed to say?
I didn't want to lie to them, but I also wasn't ready to confess anything.
"My type..." I mumbled as they all stared at me, I couldn't even hear the TV anymore with how deep in thought I had gone.
Say something, Naruto.
Say anything, literally anything.
"My type is pale skin and dark hair-" I tried but was cut off as Naruko let out a blood curling scream before diving behind the loveseat causing the whole house to panic.
"AH! AH! AH! THE DOOR! BY THE WINDOW!" She screamed.
As much as I was glad as I didn't need to answer the question. Looking through the windows that were next to the door I saw the face of someone who for the second time in two days, came to my rescue.
"Ah! Naruko!? It's just Kiba!" Menma groaned as he held his chest while laying flat down on the floor.
Dear Kaguya, was he a life saver or what?
