Author's Note

This story is never going to see the light of day, unless something dramatic happens.

I don't write fanfiction. I don't. But one day I asked my friends for writing prompts. One of my friends jokingly suggested that I write a story about her and Sam Winchester. I would never have actually considered writing it, but I laughed about it with her.

Then she told me that she had a Wattpad. The conversation went something like this:
Her: I have a wattpad 🤭 (she makes this face irl all the time)
Me: That's great! What's your user?
Her: No.
Me: Why not?!
Her: NO
Me: But I showed you mine!
Her: That doesn't matter, I'm insecure about my writing.
*10 minutes of me praising her writing and her refusing to believe me*
Me: What if we made a trade? I'll write that story we talked about.
Her: Wait REALLY?
The other friend who was randomly was on the group chat where we were having the conversation: WAIT WHAT STORY?
Me *ignoring the 3rd friend*: Yes really!
Her: Okay deal!

*two days later*
Me: I wrote 2000 words.
Her: What?! You're actually writing it?!?
Me: A deal's a deal. Just don't tell [insert 3rd friend's name here] because I would die if she read it.
Her: Of course not.

And that's how this whole thing got started. Now, one month and 10,000 words later, we have my first fanfiction.

It was fun to write - I went places that I had never gone before and got to explore a universe where half of the work was already done for me.

Will I write fanfiction again? Not publicly, no. That's why this story will never see the light of day. However, I've crossed a line in my own writing where I am no longer afraid of certain types of scenes. And for that, I will always be thankful. For me, it seems, fanfiction is a way to explore - both my own ability to assess a character and assume what they would do in a situation, and different styles of writing.

I give the experience a 10/10, and I hope that you would rate the product the same.

Thank you darlings! That is all ❤️
