After hugging for so long that I lost track of time, Sam gently disentangled himself from me. Brushing a loose stand of hair from my forehead, he looked deep into my eyes, a small smile gracing his lips. Then, he cupped my cheek and kissed me tenderly, pressing me back once more against the wall. A shiver of excitement ran up my spine. I returned the caress in the same way, trying to tell him all my emotions without using words. One of my hands held his neck while the other ran through his still wet hair, messing up the part he had so carefully combed. He lifted me up and I wrapped my legs around his strong hips, kicking off my shoes as our kisses became more intense, straying from our mouths. I kissed Sam's forehead, his eyes, his cheekbones, as he planted his lips, as delicate as a butterfly, on my collarbone .
He carried me out into the bedroom, slowing and carefully finding his way while never letting go of me. He sat on the edge on the bed and kept one arm around my back while he began to unbutton my shirt, one button at a time, delicately and unhurriedly. I curled my fingers around his bicep and ran my hand across his chest, feeling each muscle relax and tighten, as we tried to get closer to one another in every way. Growing impatient, I fumbled as I tried to help Sam with my shirt, wanting to be rid of the fabric that separated us. We finished with the last button and Sam peeled my shirt off, revealing first my shoulders, then my arms, then my wrists.
Now both half-undressed, we paused and looked at each other. There was a complete trust between the two of us.
"Are you sure you want to do this?" He asked, his rich voice sending shivers down my spine. Yes, God yes. Just as I opened my mouth to respond, his phone rang.
Sam and I jumped. The setting was shattered. We both remembered that it was one o'clock in the afternoon, in broad daylight. Our hair was wet, and we hadn't eaten lunch. I inwardly groaned as I swung my legs off him. He reached for his back pocket, and I blushed as I saw the red marks my fingers had left on his arm.
"Hello?" He answered it, clearly annoyed. A muffled man's voice began talking to him quickly. Sam tried to talk only to be interrupted. "No, Dean, I'm at Grace's house... She answered the door while I was asking around and she offered to help me research... Yes, we did... I did not! Dean!" At this last one he blushed and looked down, and I could infer what Sam's older brother was asking about. Disappointed at and angered by Dean I motioned for Sam to give me the phone. He handed it to me, looking apologetic.
"Hey Dean?" I began, cutting him off. "This is Grace. We were actually just sitting down to lunch, so Sam will have to call you back. Bye-bye now." With that, I hung up without waiting for him to answer.
"I'm so sorry." Sam began. "I forgot I had it in my pocket. Now the mood's ruined and you're probably mad at me..."
I leaned over him, resting one hand over his heart. "How could I be mad at you? It's not your fault your brother has awful timing. Looks like I'm not the only one here who needs some self-esteem." I kissed him lightly on the nose and he smiled.
"Unfortunately," I continued, "Dean reminded me that we have work to do. So why don't I go make us some sandwiches, then we can try to find something on your mystery woman.
"Afterword, we can come back up here and take a nap as a reward for working so hard. Deal?"
"Deal." He responded. "And are we still on for that date tonight? We hadn't planned on spending the whole day together, so I understand if you don't..." I cut him off with a kiss.
"Sweetheart, when will you understand? I want to be with you. I want to spend time with you. And now we have more time together - why would I not like that?" I rumpled his hair with my fingers as I said these things. He looked at me fondly, an adorable toothy grin spreading across his face despite himself.
"Thank you, darling." He said as he stood up. "Now come on - we have work to do."
